Also my favourite Taylor album. It's just so cosy and nostalgic to me, a big help in lockdown. I also prefer Taylor writing fiction over autobiography.
all of the songs jack made are literally some of her best tho? and hes not bad at the folklore sound at all, all the songs fit the aesthetic of folklore/evermore. all of these songs are perfect, changing anything about them would ruin it, they were made that way for a reason. /gen
@@tamerail yeah, but she makes music because she enjoys writing music & making songs with people she really loves & that's been Jack for a long time now & now of course there's Aaron who I'm fond of too, don't get me wrong I do believe it's for the good that they've worked together too...well I don't even know what the hell I'm saying at this point. i live for your harry and taylor reactions, folklore and evermore are both my favorite taylor albums, they're songwriting royalty, so glad you liked it !!
if you ever want to know the meaning of songs (which i’d suggest for taylor and harry especially), i’d recommend reading the description at the top of genius where the credits are! that usually gives the best overall meaning of every song and sometimes the individual lyric annotations aren’t as reliable as you’ve noticed😭😭 really hope you go back to read them for albums like fine line, hs1, and even folklore. it really gives so much insight and has things that they might’ve said the song was about. btw i’ve loved watching your pop journey!
Taylor created and released Folklore and Evermore Albums, during Covid in 2020. She was also with her new record company, so she had more control over how her albums were released.
I don't think she knew this album was going to happen back in 2019, so she couldn't have planned to do a tiny desk concert. I don't think this album or evermore would have happened if it weren't for the pandemic because she only started working on them when all her Lover tour dates got canceled last minute. I do think it's a tragedy that many of the folklore/evermore songs have never been played live... although that may change with the upcoming tour.
The greatest album of all time!! This album exudes a sense of wistfulness and it feels magical, deep and complex!!! The storytelling is perfect and the simplicity is all-encompassing!
yeah something you should know about taylor is she likes to experience different types of music, like she has stuff like folklore and then she has country, she has reputation which is like a different type of music idk how to explain it and then like rlly pop sounding music like 1989
Cardigan is about a lost romance and why young love is often fixed so permanently within our memories , It is one of the three of the tracks on the album that depict the same love triangle from three different perspectives at different times in their lives, the other two being "August" and "Betty. so basically cardigan is Betty's perspective with her being older , August is the perspective of the girl who James spent his summer with and she knows that James love another girl that's why she said "you weren't mine to lose" , finally Betty is James perspective , So Taylor created a love triangle from her imagination❤️❤️
joe is a producer/co-writer in the album (and in evermore also!) cause taylor and him started the album together in quarantine ! they didn’t knew it would end up being an album, they just started writing to have something to do lol he composed and plays the piano track in “exile” and wrote the whole first verse, he also wrote the chorus of “betty”. also, cardigan, august & betty are a trilogy of a love triangle, cardigan is betty’s perspective (the girl who got cheated on) august is agustine’s pov (the other woman, who never knew she was the other woman) and betty is james’ pov (the douchebag that thought cheating on his gf, and say “yeah i slept with her but thought of you” was a good thing 😭) i swear to you taylor and joe are in the best moment in their love lives and are writing the most depressing songs ever, just wait til to get to the evermore album💀
Taylor’s NPR Tiny Desk was done during the Lover promotion, before Covid happened. Folklore and Evermore were surprise albums that she did while bored, yet inspired, during the year of Covid lockdown. She hasn’t really performed any of these songs except for the Long Pond studio sessions. But I agree that they would be great for Tiny Desk. There just weren’t any when this album came out.
The album isn’t even a folk album 😭 it’s just called folklore it’s an alternative pop album. Also I think this is definitely some of Jacks most tasteful work, it doesn’t really sound out of place on the record.
it can be technically classified as being in the genre of indie folk pop and electro-folk (which is where the alternative label comes from bc streaming services don't get into the technicalities of genre labelling haha) Bon Iver discography is a great example of starting as folk music and transitioning to electro-folk (his album 22 a million is insane electro-folk album)
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO SEES TAYLOR NEEDS TO DITCH ANTONOFF!! He did his thing, too many albums now, she desperately needs new collaborators, if i see Jack in TTPD next month, i swear to God…
I think bringing in different producers could level her music up. Not just pop producers but other genres too. And jack antonoff might be mentally unstable 😭 bro admitted talking to his therapist about Kanye seriously what the hell they don’t even know each other 💀
most of the songs on this album are not diaristic, or real experiences taylor had. she said this album was an opportunity to use her storytelling skills and write about other people/stories instead of her own. Some songs can of course be related back to her own life, but for the most part they are not exactly about her, like her other albums have been. If you choose to watch the Longpond Sessions, she will explain the creative process of the album and what each song means.
Oh, and I think the electronic beeps in epiphany are supposed to be the heart monitor you're attached to in a hospital. It's about WWII a bit, but mostly about the pandemic.
I'm catching up your videos, some observations: 1st: how dare you hate jack even after listening to melodrama? that was pure art!! hahaha 2nd: I'm in love with your charisma. I could stay for another hour of watching you react to evermore! Your jokes are funny, you're a great reactor and I like you. Keep up doing yout best! Wish you all the best, send my love all the way from Brazil.
The tiny desk was part of the Lover promotion, and I think at that point folklore wasn't on Taylor's mind, since she kinda considers it as a result of quarantine and the pandemic. It’s not like "she could've wait" and sing folklore on the tiny desk, more like folklore wasn't a concept yet.
It's not supposed to be folk music! It's folk inspired in the sense that it's a bunch of stories and she's telling them to us, as well as the music, which is obviously not folk music, it's just folk inspired 😀
As a Swift it’s frustrating wanting to tell you what everything means when you miss it or interpret it wrong. As someone else said read the box at top as it gives a more accurate description of meaning
My tears ricochet isn’t about a romantic relationship btw. It’s about her relationship with her record label and the man who betrayed her. Her “stolen lullabies “ are her songs
Poxa, my tears ricochet era a que eu mais esperava o react e você só criticou o Jack em vez de prestar atenção na letra (que pra mim é a mais linda e triste do álbum)
Country Music is always set up that way. Always. It's a rule. But how would you know? Actually, all of Taylor's music is essentially country. It tells a story.
The lyrics from the song Betty Standing in your cardigan - is a reference to the song Cardigan cuz Cardigan is Betty's perspective, Betty is the speaker of the song Cardigan. Kissin' in my car again - is a reference to the song August cuz augustine is the third party or the other girl of the story. In the song august it is repititively mentioned the 'Get in the Car' line.. that's the clue there. 🙄 Cardigan, August & Betty is a trilogy love story. Try to listen again to these 3 songs.

this is not a folk album, its alternative pop/indie pop/chamber pop. not sure what you were trying to do with the jack hate cause some of his best songs are on this album
James cheated on betty with the girl from august (augustine), in cardigan betty is saying that she knew at the end of the day james would come back to her and taylor said that they ended together
the song meanings are right there on genius. all you have to do is read it and the jack antonoff production is not even that bad, you're just exaggerating. 0/10 reaction video
the jack slander, the fact that hes on genius and STILL not reading the meanings, like come on man its right there😭 ah but what can we expect for a self proclaimed kanye fan
She obviously wasn't writing or planning on writing folklore when she made the tiny desk performace, the opportunity showed up and she said yes, but this album was written some months after the lockdown happened
