@@AnthonyAikenJr Yah Sure. If you have time, check out the "reputation" album by taylor swift. Its more hip-pop inspered! And its about finding love, through hard times with her reputation.
rappers are some of the most substantial musicians. I love how you took appreciation of her lyrics, which is pretty much the main reason taylor's fans consume her music no matter what genre she crosses over to. I never imagined seven with some rap but that sounded really good! Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much!! I love that you said that about rappers!! & glad you love the review/freestyle!! Please share/subscribe & my Instagram/Twitter is @ anthony96jr ...Wishing you all the love!!
"Girls don't always sing about guys " yes exactly I hate it when some people do music reactions and try so hard to match every song to a certain guy or a certain phase in a relationship when it's not about that at all. ofc people can interpret the lyrics in a way that can relate to their own life and her lyrics is usually purposefully vague enough for people to do that but also specific enough to know what exactly she's talking about. but common people are more than the relationships they've been in and it's not the only thing that goes on in a songwriters head.
Exactly!! Also, a lot of artist use “love” as a metaphor for something else. It’s not always a relationship with a significant other like you said. It could be about their vices, their family, their careers... etc.
“I dunno if I’m doing good at this” You didn’t do good; you did GREAT. You were engaging and thoughtful, noticing tons of little details and offering plenty of unique insights. I’m especially glad and appreciative that you didn’t brush all the meanings off as “about boys,” because as you realized, Taylor’s so much more. Your analysis was a delight to watch. This video’s editing really topped things off too. Thanks for the great watch!
yeaka I’m glad you enjoyed it all. Thanks!! I appreciate the kind feedback and would love for you to subscribe if interested. I’ll be doing more Taylor soon. Peace & love!
In Peace, the line that goes “All these people think love’s for show but I would die for you in secret” you questioned is it heroic if it’s hidden. I feel it is because she would die for him without “showing off” her sacrifice to the world. She isn’t doing it to gain praise from everyone else, she would do it just for him.
YES! specially since the line before is "all these people think love's for show" to which she responds "but I would die for you in secret" so she's stating to what degree her love is not for show
Paula Moya Ojeda Thank you!! I didn’t really know what to expect but I’m glad I was able to catch on. I feel like I missed a lot too but it was my first listen. Glad you enjoyed it. Please subscribe if you haven’t and feel free to share. More coming soon...
I LOVE this reaction. Someone who doesn’t know a lot about Taylor but going into it with an open mind. Most importantly, you paid attention to what you were reacting to and gave actual insight to your thoughts about it. Lyrics are a huge part of Taylor’s songs so doing that is important! Also, your editing is fire and so unique ! It really fills in gaps of silence while you’re listening to the song but still entertains the viewer. Love it. And good job picking up on her references to scars and movies. In most of her albums she will have an overall motif or theme she likes to touch on throughout so you’ll notice repeated phrase throughout each album. Sometimes its a time of day, or a feeling, or some other description or phrase she’ll play with in different ways!
"He's seems like an asshole." - Anthony on Scooter Me: "Preach." Also: Fantastic reaction, best one yet. Intelligent comments, brilliant editing. Bonus that you made a lot of clever connections that most people wouldn't make if they didn't know her catalogue/history.
Asshole is such an understatement tbh. Scooter Braun is so exploitative and burns so many good artists out before they even have a shot. He's arguably a big part of the reason if not THE reason Carly Rae Jepsen's career has never reached the heights it could have.
@AnthonyAikenJr review Karma on Midnights... the lyrics kill Scooter DEAD. "Spider-boy, king of thieves, Weave your little webs of opacity.. My pennies made your crown..." She brought a gun to a knife fight.
OMG ANTHONY I CANT BELIEVE THIS!!! First you listen to one direction. And then you listen to my other favorite artist. ITS OFFICIAL MAN THIS IS MY FAVORITE CHANNEL
Thank you for watching Ayana!!! I always look forward to seeing your comments now. & I’m glad you enjoyed the review. If you know any Taylor fans, feel free to share and let me know what songs/albums or artists I should cover next
Taylor swift is a great lyricist. She takes you on a ride in her songs and keeps you interested throughout. This album is all about storytelling. You always find some part that you can relate to.THANKYOU for checking her music out. And it doesn't matter if your early or late your reaction was amazing and we're here for your point of view on the music so do it your way👍
The editing is killing me haha BTW My tears ricochet is about her old label, yes, but it is actually about Scott Brauchetta (I never know how to spell is last name and I will not bother looking it up). Scott signed Taylor when she was 14 to his BRAND NEW record label, she was his biggest act, earned him millions, he was like a father to her, his wife was a close friend as well and he ended up selling her masters to Scooter, the guy who tried to destroy her career on multiple occasions. She even told Scott she would give him all her money for her masters but he refused and proceeded to "blackmail" Taylor with her own work (he refused to let her have her old songs in her recorded concert, almost prohibited her from performing her old songs when she was named artist of the decade etc.). It is really sad, he was family to her and she was just money to him.
Glad you loved the editing. & thank you for the info... it was helpful. I would love to do more Taylor soon!! Please share if you can ❤️. I hope all is well
Thank you! If you have social media, I’m @ anthony96jr ... I plan on tweeting and maybe doing something for IG too with the freestyle. Hoping she’ll see 🙌🏾
So about the love triangle. “Cardigan” - is the point of view of Betty “Betty” - point of view of James after he cheated on her “August” - Point of view of the girl James cheated Betty with.
@@antidave are you of the opinion that James is a girl? Personally I don't think it matters however I did get the vibe that the protagonist of Betty was a female up until the line "she said, James get in". Now I'm not sure.
@@1sTEfFaniE1 Even though the official narrative is straight she did named all the protagonists from the love triangle songs after the children of ryan reynolds and blake lively (who she's friends with) and all these children are girls. James is even featured as the baby voice in taylor's song "gorgeous"
seven is about a childhood friend who confided in her about being in abusive home, because they were so young, this is what she wished she could say to them; but they lost touch. "I can't recall your face but I still got love for you"
I listened to Hoax so many times because I wasn’t really sure who she was talking about at first, but I think it’s about Scott Bruchetta who she worked with since she was around fourteen years old. For the line “your love is the only hoax I believe in,” she is talking about how she saw him as another father figure, and then he destroyed it after more than a decade of working together. Also, when she sings “you know it still hurts underneath these scars from when they pulled me apart but what you did was just as dark,” I think she is referencing to the fact that he stood by her side to give her support when the public tore down her reputation, but then he turns around, doesn’t sell her back her masters, and then sells her songs to someone (Scooter) who does not respect her on any level. Also, I loved your review, and your freestyle in seven!!
This is the best reaction to this album I’ve watched!!! I literally was so excited that you didn’t have much background context and managed to start to get where she was going with the songs! There is 3 songs that are a story about a teenage love triangle and Invisible Strings was about Joe (her boyfriend) and her. You also mentioned things I hadn’t thought of. Good job on this video, it was fantastic!
Personally, i think mad woman might be about the Kim + Kanye thing cuz “women like hunting witches too” and “it’s obvious that wanting me dead has really brought you two together”
I really hope she does. Not quite sure how this can get to her but I’ll try. If you have Twitter, I’ll be sending out a tweet of my freestyle if you would like to help share it. I’m @anthony96jr
One other thing, in "The 1" when she talks about "the roaring 20s." It hits two themes at once. The crazy, wild, partying aspect of the 1920s, but ALSO... she spent all of her 20s, the breadth of her career, with Big Machine Records and Scott Borchetta. The one she wishes could have been the one she continued her adventures with, if he wouldn't have screwed up so badly by not letting her buy the rights to her own music. He could have kept being part of her life, and she would have made sure he didn't lose out on the deal.
can't believe you picked up on the love triangle so fast!! another thing about betty and august: in betty she sings "she said 'james get in'", and in august she says "remember when I pulled up and said get in the car". it's the little subtle lyrics that connect the songs so well that amazes me. betty is from james' perspective, august is from the girl he had the summer fling with, and cardigan is from james' girlfriends' (betty) perspective. loved this so much! thank you for going into the album with an open mind
I’ve been listening to this album non stop since it dropped. Even though it’s very narrative I find this album the most relatable she’s ever put out-it’s bringing to mind memories I hadn’t thought about in years. Was so happy to see you gave it a listen! Appreciate that you really paid attention to the lyrics and gave it a good analysis. I think in my experience as a woman it also had some of her most profound reflections such as, “Before I learned civility I used to scream ferociously any time I wanted.” I felt that DEEP.
my read on illicit affairs is she’s the other woman and she’s heading to meet him again but it’s become really sad and degrading after so many times...having to leave her perfume behind so she leaves no trace...she’s erased, like she’s not a human being who lives and has her own desires and inherent worth. my favorite parts are the variations on the chorus; illicit affairs are born from one single glance but dies one million times, tells the truth just once but lies a million little times. poetry. i appreciated your thoughtful listen to each track and your editing really adds a lot. would watch additional taylor reaction videos too ☺️
Thank you!! Stay tuned. I’ll do more. If you know any Taylor fans and can share, that would help a lot. I would like to do Red, Reputation and 1989 next

I LOVE your analysis to mirrorball!!! That's also what I thought after a few listens to it. At first I thought it was about a person trying everything to get the person they like to like them back. But it could also be about her and her music and her fans / those who listen to her. Love it!
Thank you!! Glad you can agree! Mirror Ball is lyrically complex to me. I love what it symbolizes. Also, If you can share this in any way to other Taylor fans, please do. Much love!
4 years later, and wow you just blew my mind with the connection to mirrorball also being kind of a fourth-wall breaking song about how the listeners interact with her music!!
I'm really impressed with all your editing and thoughtful insights. You put in a lot of work! Btw, each of Taylor's albums are very different from each other. You won't regret checking them out. They are all excellent.
I’m glad a lot of people love my breakdown to it. I always look for hidden messages and metaphors with music. If you know any Taylor fans, please share. I would love to do this same thing with her other albums. Thank you

I'm pretty sure "My Tears Ricochet" is about Scott Borchetta, the man who owned her former label. She knew him since she was a kid and he was like a family member to her, but he sold her music to someone who has bullied her named Scooter Braun. I believe "Mad Woman" is about Scooter Braun.
“You know the greatest films of all time were never made” to me means all the real live love stories that are happening out in the world that don’t get put on film for others to see are the best stories. Such a beautiful thought, to think reality is even better than what happens in the movies. Wonderful reaction and editing! You really put a lot of thought into the lyrics and the video you create and it shows!
Love going back in 2023 to see the beginning of your journey with Taylor's music! I love all your Kendrick references too. Makes me want to dive deeper into his music and see all the things you reference!
Loved your discussion of Epiphany I'm so glad you noticed all the pieces of it, most people don't right away! The connection between fighting a battle (I think it's supposed to be her grandfather who was at Normandy on D-day) and COVID and how sometimes the worst experiences are ones you can't ever put into words or talk through, just hoping for an Epiphany that tells you you've made it through and it's getting better. And the heartbeat/hospital monitor sounds at the end - that makes me tear up every time. That song of all of them will always bring me right back to this summer. It's brilliant storytelling from Taylor
I legitimately never comment on UA-cam videos and I usually don't make it through any sort of video this long. I am a swiftie since 2006 and for some reason my algorithm sent you to me!! honestly you are more insightful than probably half of her die hard fans. I love that you catch the nuances and dissect the lyrics so well and so naturally and with intention. This was one of my favorite things to watch and I'm just on Betty. I have texted my husband 4 times about this video and how happy it is making me and quoting you. LOL. On the sidebar to the left is something saying you went to the ERAS tour and this current video is from 2020 sooooooo...I guess I'm going to watch everything else you post. You are super smart, down to earth, open minded, wise, and just basically seem cool as hell. idk why men reacting or giving Taylor a chance is something that interests me, but when someone SEES her art for what it is, its so cool. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU! :)
I really enjoyed that reaction. You put a lot of work into all the relevant editing, very cool. The lyrical analysis was very good. This project really shows off her singer-songwriting skills. It's been labeled Alternative, but its gonna debut at number 1 on the charts and I think its sold over 2 million units already. Rolling Stone magazine put Taylor on the list of the 100 greatest songwriters of all-time, so I'm happy to see her getting some love on this channel.
I have been on a TS reaction kick (cuz my soul needed a kindred bleeding heart). I have seen reactions to the instrumentation and production, but you are by far the best at trying to understand the lyrics. And Folklore is all about the lyrics. I loved it.
I love that you went into this album with such an open mind! I've been a huge Swiftie for 12 years now and to finally see people really appreciating Taylor is the best thing. Also, I watched your reputation reaction and I had the feeling that you would love that album!! Anyways, I love your reactions and I was so surprised at all the connections that you made from the first listen. I figured out a bunch of those theories after an entire week of listening.. But I appreciate and admire you for listening so intently to the lyrics, especially Taylor is all about poetry. :)
Thank you!! It’s all very new to me but Taylor is very talented and her lyrics amaze me. It’s so fun thinking of theories for her work. I’m glad you feel the same. Stay tuned... ❤️
I think you are the first reaction channel I didn't skip a single portion. You are so entertaining and the memes and videos you use while the songs are going is so unique. I subscribed alone for the line that you lost your mind on for this is me trying. So funny!
Thank you so much for taking the chance and watching. If you know any other Taylor fans, please share. Also, is this your favorite album from her or do you think she has better?
@@AnthonyAikenJr Since you seem to enjoy songwriting, Red is often praised as one of her best albums, you can also check out Speak Now (Its entirely self-written by her). Lover is also a very good album which you should definitely check out. As far as favorites go I dabble between Lover and Folklore (preference for a particular album mostly depends on my mood). :)
So glad I found your channel. This is amazing! Folklore got me through the pandemic. Evermore got me back on track to take on my life. Appreciate you good sir.
I think Illicit Affairs sums up how it feels to be in an affair with someone (most likely an older man from a younger girl's perspective). Where you're in love with them and you're initially riding that high of secret meetings and feeling valued - and then over time you realise that this isn't the 'whirlwind love story' that you painted it out to be ('what started in beautiful rooms, ends with meeting in parking lots'). And that over time it's become degrading (to the point where you've essentially erased yourself and your own morals, respect, beliefs etc, for this love) when you realise that he'll never leave his 'wife' for you. It has one of my FAVOURITE bridges too - 'Don't call me kid, don't call me baby, look at this idiotic fool that you've made me. You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else.' Again, going back to the idea of an older man and younger woman dynamic (like a teacher dating a student), you can see where the idea of a power dynamic comes into play ie. calling her 'kid' and 'baby' to try to explain himself. Also the concept of love/relationships being like a 'secret language' that you build with someone - having inside jokes, memories, nicknames... all that stuff that you can never replicate with anyone else, no matter how much you try, that is ingrained and personal between only the two of you. LOL SORRY ABOUT THIS ESSAY. YA GIRL'S GOING OFF😂😂 I just really love this song/album and it's just so LAYERED AND INTRICATE. Also really enjoyed your reaction and it made me laugh a lot. Also. You did ask for help😁
Ok, I love everything you said and you actually made me understand this song a whole better so thank you. Especially with the “kid” references, I missed those. & thank you for watching and taking your time out to comment. I hope you subscribe. Please continue to comment your thoughts. I would love to interact with you more
Just subscribed! The way you actually listen to the lyrics and the editing are fantastic! In “Illicit Affairs” when she sings “and you know damn well, for you I would ruin myself a million little times” I interpret it as having an affair can destroy a lot of things like a reputation, self esteem, self worth, hence the woman would ruin herself to be with the man even if only in secret.
Thank you Viviana!! ❤️❤️ Hope you’re safe and well!! More coming soon... I promise. My social media is anthony96jr if you want to follow and please share this to any taylor fans you know
Talking about Illicit Affairs you said home is where the heart is. It's actually a T.swift lyric! From London Boy. She says *home where is where the heart is but that's not where mine lives* Ps- absolutely loved this reaction!
You are smart dude. You picked up on things that no other reactors ever get the first listen. The one that stands out the most to me is last great American dynasty. No other reactor gets that she flips it’s around to herself at the end. They are all so confused by that song. Props to you. This is only the second video I’ve watched by you but I’ve subscribed and I’m gonna be binge watching your shit for awhile.
You should definitely see the folklore long pond studio sessions, it’s beautiful! She also explains every song before playing it with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antanoff! It’s beautiful. Also, the first verse of ‘epiphany’ is about her grandfather who fought in world war 2 and he never spoke about what happened there. She’s describing that kind of unspeakable pain, the kind that the doctors are experiencing at the moment due to the whole pandemic situation. The exhaustion, the anxiety, the helplessness they feel when they lose their patients, working day and night while staying away from their loved ones! They only have 20 mins to take it all in before it all starts again. Loved how much thought she put into this whole album! BTW Absolutely loved your reaction, great job! ✨✨

There’s so much you picked up on in the first listen as a non Taylor listener that many Swifties (myself included) didn’t get until multiple listens and deep diving into the research. This was incredible! Love how much you pay attention to her lyrics, your editing, and the bars in seven haha can’t wait to watch more of your stuff!! @@AnthonyAikenJr no no seven is a memory of her childhood friend who she can't remember, but still remembers and loves their friendship. Her friend was probably in an abusive house and that's what the song is about. Fans do have theories that could connect the song with the storylines as Betty's childhood instead of Taylor's, but we'll never know I think
@@AnthonyAikenJr ^^^ yeah! most fans think "seven" is about her childhood friend but if you would align it to the story, personally I think it is about betty's childhood and how she and james met heh! it's a fun album to think about and create your own theory of what actually happened to their love story ;;

You're doing better than alright! I really like you analysing these lyrics and it's insightful to someone (me) who has no idea about music it's good to watch
This was my favorite reaction to this album. I love the way you tied her songs together in ways I hadn't thought about, but make sense with Taylor's stuff.
For context: I’m in an “entertainment industry exposed” rabbit hole and I think Taylor swift MAY be in the eye of the storm and your video was one of the only “Swiftie” lyrical breakdown videos I could really enjoy. I started because of the Kendrick/Drake beef, which got me watching UA-cam hip hop lyric breakdown videos, and now that the rabbit hole has lead me to Taylor watching your videos has been the perfect crossover. Great job!
This was a really well put together analysis, particularly from someone that doesn't know a lot about Taylor Swift. Rarely do people who aren't fans take the time to try and understand the lyrics of her music. Your added graphic alliteration were amusing and well-placed in most cases. You are obviously an inquisitive and intelligent young man. Well done.

It could be about their vices, their family, their careers... etc.

YES! specially since the line before is "all these people think love's for show" to which she responds "but I would die for you in secret" so she's stating to what degree her love is not for show
OMG! You are one of the few reactors who actually got most of the connections and I loved the editing btw
Paula Moya Ojeda Thank you!! I didn’t really know what to expect but I’m glad I was able to catch on. I feel like I missed a lot too but it was my first listen. Glad you enjoyed it. Please subscribe if you haven’t and feel free to share. More coming soon...
Same!!!
Thank you!!! Please share this video if you can... I appreciate how kind you Taylor Swift fans are. It means a lot!
@@AnthonyAikenJryeah this is a great vid good job
"He's seems like an asshole." - Anthony on Scooter

Asshole is such an understatement tbh. Scooter Braun is so exploitative and burns so many good artists out before they even have a shot. He's arguably a big part of the reason if not THE reason Carly Rae Jepsen's career has never reached the heights it could have.
@AnthonyAikenJr review Karma on Midnights... the lyrics kill Scooter DEAD.
"Spider-boy, king of thieves, Weave your little webs of opacity..

Taylor swift is a great lyricist. She takes you on a ride in her songs and keeps you interested throughout. This album is all about storytelling. You always find some part that you can relate to.THANKYOU for checking her music out.
And it doesn't matter if your early or late your reaction was amazing and we're here for your point of view on the music so do it your way👍
Thank you!! Much love
The editing is killing me haha
BTW My tears ricochet is about her old label, yes, but it is actually about Scott Brauchetta (I never know how to spell is last name and I will not bother looking it up).
I hope all is well
I’m gonna start a petition for seven ft. Anthony, that would be iconic

So about the love triangle.
“Cardigan” - is the point of view of Betty
“Betty” - point of view of James after he cheated on her
“August” - Point of view of the girl James cheated Betty with.
Manasvi Gandhi Inez was just a classic popular girl that spreads drama. But Inez didn’t actually cheat she just spread the news
HOW ARE YALL SO SMART I LITERALLY CRIED AT THE MOOD OF THE SONGS
I prefer to see it through my gay lenses instead
"I can't recall your face but I still got love for you"
Who wants to tell him that all of her works are full of gorgeous lyrics 🥰
I guess you can tell me!! Thank you Marian
Love your Hoax analysis & Thank you!!
Thank you so much!! I appreciate that. If you can, please share this to any taylor fans you know & subscribe. Much love!!
Personally, i think mad woman might be about the Kim + Kanye thing cuz “women like hunting witches too” and “it’s obvious that wanting me dead has really brought you two together”
@Amelia De groot it’s the song “peace”
Yes yes yes
Totally agree!
It’s really about Scooter’s wife, who defended her husband knowing that he was lying, and he knew that he had lovers but he continued with him....
Awesome freestyle rap in 7. Taylor should hear that.
& thank you for watching Morgan!! Send any music, ideas, or feedback if you have some.

Another week gone by and I'm still listening non stop ;)
@@prariepryer3119 Same here, I just can't get enough
Cassie that lyric in seven is my favorite off the whole album... ugh it twists my soul
my read on illicit affairs is she’s the other woman and she’s heading to meet him again but it’s become really sad and degrading after so many times...having to leave her perfume behind so she leaves no trace...she’s erased, like she’s not a human being who lives and has her own desires and inherent worth.
my favorite parts are the variations on the chorus; illicit affairs are born from one single glance but dies one million times, tells the truth just once but lies a million little times. poetry. i appreciated your thoughtful listen to each track and your editing really adds a lot. would watch additional taylor reaction videos too ☺️
Thank you!! Stay tuned. I’ll do more. If you know any Taylor fans and can share, that would help a lot. I would like to do Red, Reputation and 1989 next
@@AnthonyAikenJr YESSSSS red is lyrically amazing (people say folklore is red 2.0) 1989 is the most awarded pop album ever and there's a lot of hits. Rep is amazing as well!!!

I LOVE your analysis to mirrorball!!! That's also what I thought after a few listens to it. At first I thought it was about a person trying everything to get the person they like to like them back. But it could also be about her and her music and her fans / those who listen to her. Love it!

As a poet and a swifty, thank you! Its so hard to find people who love to analyze the lyrics and this was everything.
Love going back in 2023 to see the beginning of your journey with Taylor's music! I love all your Kendrick references too. Makes me want to dive deeper into his music and see all the things you reference!
This dude is so smart omg. He picked up most connections first listen
Never thought of it but it will always bring us back to the year 2020 and remind people of the pandemic. Great song
One of the best reaction vids I have seen in a while.
Thank you!!
Damn, love a reactor that really goes in depth and is genuine
its so adorable to watch your first taylor swift reactions after watching the ones where you wear her merch😭😭😭🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thank you so much for watching!! More on the way
That RAP ON SEVEN!!!! omfg you're so talented! We need this version
I have been on a TS reaction kick (cuz my soul needed a kindred bleeding heart). I have seen reactions to the instrumentation and production, but you are by far the best at trying to understand the lyrics. And Folklore is all about the lyrics. I loved it.
Betty was written in the point of view of “James” who was mentioned earlier in the album.
I love that you went into this album with such an open mind! I've been a huge Swiftie for 12 years now and to finally see people really appreciating Taylor is the best thing. Also, I watched your reputation reaction and I had the feeling that you would love that album!!
You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else.'
Again, going back to the idea of an older man and younger woman dynamic (like a teacher dating a student), you can see where the idea of a power dynamic comes into play ie. calling her 'kid' and 'baby' to try to explain himself.
God damn - that freestyle was out of this world bro
Also - this is hands down the best reaction Ive seen re: t swift lyrics. It takes another writer.
Just subscribed! The way you actually listen to the lyrics and the editing are fantastic! In “Illicit Affairs” when she sings “and you know damn well, for you I would ruin myself a million little times” I interpret it as having an affair can destroy a lot of things like a reputation, self esteem, self worth, hence the woman would
ruin herself to be with the man even if only in secret.
Thank you Viviana!! ❤️❤️ Hope you’re safe and well!! More coming soon... I promise. My social media is anthony96jr if you want to follow and please share this to any taylor fans you know

I’m gonna say it again. You so smart. Connecting my tears ricochet and mad woman. You are definitely on your way to Swiftie land.
You are the only one that reacted and loved my favorite lyrics of this album omg
