I always found it funny that at the time Jason was the Red Ranger, Tommy was the Sixth Ranger, and when Tommy was the Red Ranger, Jason was the Sixth Ranger. 😂
How about when they made that bet while under the Slippery Shark's spell? Tommy: "If I catch him, I become leader of the Power Rangers!" Jason:"And if I catch him, you turn in your Power Coin!" Even after the spell was broken, and the monster defeated, both those things eventually happened.
I think those two are evenly matched but I think Jason might be slightly better. He was a better leader and if we say he is the best red ranger then it means that he is better than Tommy because Tommy was also a red ranger.

It would be called a Duo Morpher as Jason had only being the Red and Gold Ranger but would be nice to have his Red MMPR power able to draw powers from the Dragonzord and give him the unique dragon shield and armor. He was much better in those than the green ranger cause he had duo weapons.
I liked Jason as Gold Ranger but the Trey of Triforia guy was a better more seasoned all around Gold Ranger. I like how they didn't make Jason super OP soon as he got his powers.
Me too. Big Jason fan. I lost interest in PR after Zack, Trini, and Jason left. When I heard he came back, I watched it again. I stopped after zeo and my mom wanted me to watch the turbo movie. I did and was happy to see ASJ again.
Ditto. When i was a kid i stopped watching power rangers because jason left. And they, for some stupid no sense making reason decided to make tommy the leader just because he came back as a white ranger. Really doesnt make any sense. Non the less it was downhill after that.

I remember that episode so vividly. I was at my cousin's house, and we both knew this episode was coming up, we were anticipating it. And when we saw that moment when Jason stepped out of the shadows it blew our tinny little minds. We were running around, jumping on the couch, yelling out "Jason's back!" and luckily there was a commercial break because this last quite a while.
I was a teenager back then and I was kneeling in front of the TV screaming “no way” Until my mom popped in from kitchen ready to give me some whipping for making some noise. 😂😂😂
Man, just reading your experience brought it all back to me. I remember ran home to watch this episode to find out who the new gold ranger was going to be and it was Jason, my breath was taken from me for a moment from the shock and then came the biggest yell ever "AHHHH! JASON IS BACK!!" I was overly hyped to see is return. Man to go back at that moment.

Jason was more chill because he didn’t have the burden and stress of being the leader of the power rangers. He didn’t have to make all the life and death decisions. But I loved how he also served as a source of leadership advice to Tommy.
I was one of those kids divided on Tommy and Jason as my favorites. Jason was always heroic and had strong leadership qualities while Tommy was the bad ass. It to me is comparable to Leonardo and Raphael of The Ninja Turtles. I think Green Ranger for me gets the edge because the Green with Evil storyline was great and should be adapted for a movie! But the Gold Ranger costume and debut was a mind blowing event for me as a child. I would love for them to do multiple movies on the first 2 seasons and eventually a Gold Ranger movie
Same. Never really into Zeo or anything after he left the series. But when Jason (Austin) returned, Zeo immediately becomes one of my favorite seasons. Rocky is a good Red Ranger but in my opinion, he works best as the Blue Zeo Ranger. I dig him blue more than Red
Zeo was the best next season following MMPR in fact it still was MMPR once Jason did return it got even better! Jason will always be the best leader no pun intended to Red Ranger leaders after him Rocky, Tommy, Aurico, TJ, Andros ect. Love Power Rangers still to this day, have my figures, zords, Sega/Nintendo games, and new collections same with TMNT. Being a 90s kid was awesome
He made the Zeo series better imo, despite being a JDF fan. I was literally getting bored of Zeo, and nearly stopped watching it. Then Jason comes back!!!

Love the video. I still vividly remember that moment when Jason was revealed as the Gold Ranger. I really missed the original MNPR cast and seeing Jason getting to suit up again, even if only for a short time, was incredible. It helps that the suit was badass.
From here to the Turbo movie, Jason was victorious. He returned to Power Rangers Zeo and was given the gold ranger powers, he already had the experience as leader (and didn't have to be), Billy came out of the Power Chamber (where before, he barely left) to train with Jason, and (this may be true, maybe not) he got Kimberly in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
hes not kidding. when i first saw him return to Power Rangers after a 1 & a half year gap i was surprised & blown away to his return. main reason i love Austin as Jason its cuz Jason is born leader, he knows when is the time to fight & when to put ur emotions aside to help others & unlike Tommy, Jason always had the hardest decisions & those decisions made him a great Leader. wether hes MMRed or ZeoGold or even King Tyranno Austin as Jason will always be my fav Ranger & always great to meet him as a fan
I love Green Ranger no doubt. But better developed character by far is Jason over Tommy. He lived with the guilt of his decisions and still kicked ass.

Exactly, it would had made more sense as the eldest dino ranger has made his own dino team. And speaking of the Dino Thunder Black Ranger costume, its colour is similar to the Zeo Gold Ranger Costume. But unfortunately, they chose JDF instead of him even though ASJ made the Forever Red episode super-hit.

Fun Fact: When Austin left...I was DEVASTATED. I told all my friends that they were going to come up with a Gold Ranger and Jason would come back...so when the Gold Ranger came around...all the rumors that it was Billy, Tommy's brother, they even hinted at Skull being the Gold Ranger...I told everyone it was Jason...to this day, I love telling that story because for the first (and only time) I told the future! Even when the kid in the first movie said he was going to be the Gold Ranger, I was so upset because I came up with the Gold Ranger and Jason was going to be the Gold Ranger.

Reminds me of when Dwayne Johnson confirmed that he'll be in a DC Comics movie and he said he's a character (quote from Dwayne) "who's never been played before". Of course, rumors got hot 'n heavy regarding who it is. once he confirmed that John Stewart isn't it, I felt sure that he went for the Black Adam role again and it stuck this time but some the folk I talked too about thought that'd be highly unlikely. He later simply tweets an image of Superman and Shazam Vs Black Adam. I felt 100% on his being BA but roughly everybody else thought he's Shazam because Shazam being played in a past television show and 1941 serial didn't matter due to assuming (beyond Johnson's word on the matter) that he only meant "never been played before [in a movie]." Then, him being Black Adam gets confirmed. Gained a lot of speculation trust from others after that. Hahah.

He was meant to be the mentor Ranger in Dino Thunder but didn't happen because they felt that the Black Dino Ranger suit was too similar to the Gold Zeo Ranger suit and they didn't want to have Jason to have the same color twice. But it was ok for Tommy, Adam Tanya and Kat to have the same colors for three seasons in a row for some reason. Then I read somewhere that they again considered making Jason the mentor in Operation Overdrive but again it didn't happen for some reason.

Was he really in 17 episodes? I swear it felt like 3. It flew by so fast. Gold Zeo Jason was way too epic to be so short-lived. I remember being so hyped for this. Then he lost his powers, then Turbo happened and I just didn't care anymore.
I like how the roles of the first season were basically mirrored. You wet red and Tommy was the 6th ranger. And then Zeo came it was the other way around. It was interesting seeing the dynamics change. As well as the different interactions with the Zeo cast being how it was mostly a different group compared to season 1 and 2 of MMPR
And it was the perfect opportunity to have Kat being romantically involved with Jason rather than Tommy, mirroring Tommy and Kimberly and in the King for a Day two-parter they could have Jason becoming evil instead of Tommy, mirroring Tommy's Evil Green Ranger days but they blew it.
i always say "don't ever forget Jason" when people love to brag about Tommy. Jason always had that alpha male aura about him even in 'Forever Red'. A true leader puts his team first, knows exactly who to put where, is an inspiration and always has a clear head, whenever there's a fight in a group, there has to be that one guy that has to be that rock. That was Jason. a little something on the side, I love the concept of a red/gold ranger mix like Lord Drakkon's and wish it was canon.
Lol man I don't care. I thought that trench coat was badass. I lost my fricken mind when Jason returned. And I'm not trying to start a debate but I love ASJ's personality way more that JDF when he gives interviews. He comes off so organic and charismatic instead of someone who sounds like they're portraying their character.
Jason coming back was a great moment. I was so hyped when it happened and going crazy when I saw Jason as the Gold Ranger. Gold Zeo is my second favorite ranger after the White and Green Ranger tie. I agree the staff and the outfit were really legit. Pyramidas has to be the biggest zord atleast I think. The "Zord Garage with cannons" lol Gold Ranger Power!

I met the guy at comic con(fanx salt lake) He was such a unique guy & was even touched by a gift i made for him. He was really touched with it. He even told me why he left & it was because payment he needed for his mom. I couldn't believe it when i heard it. He also said that the reason why he came back was from the vid(i think)Anyways the guy is a real blessing & was even touched that he'll always be one of the no.1 red ranger of all in power rangers. Thank you Jason. Meeting you was the best in my life. May T Power Protect You!

It was Jason's greatest come back at the time. It made me mind blown that he came back. I was like alright, this is awesome. He's back and he's going solo with much greater power. One of the best Power Rangers moments for me.
I was always the Red ranger as a child. I'm now 31. Jason played a big impact on my childhood. My first movie and first show that I can remember as a child. When the white ranger showed up I was amazed but that still didn't change my opinion. Much love!
My wife grew up in the OGs and the Gold was a awesome twist! I'm glad my younger cousin was into MMPR because it made me also become a fan and I'd be mad if I missed out thinking about it today. Thanks for the videos you've done ASJ, these have been real gems.
I was over my Power Ranger addiction by the time Zeo hit. But now I'm watching the first season of OG. It doesn't hold up well. But man the little kid in me was geeking out.
Every time a new season brings back a vet I keep hoping it'll be Jason. I get that Tommy is the cash cow of the series, but I'm tired of seeing every time instead of one of the OG OGs.
My favorite ranger all-time much respect. When you got the dragon shield in mighty morphin, I went crazy. But when you came back as him, yeah I was ecstatic!
I remember when the Power Rangers came out in the 90'. I was living in St Louis in my 20's kids were going crazy over them you couldn't find toys hardly anywhere. They will never popular again. Power Rangers the movie on sega was awesome.
Power Rangers ..is always going to be top of the classics ..to this day you still awesome bro ..you all gave us a great childhood ..now my kids love the original Power Rangers ..so it lives on
The gold ranger is easily one of my favorite characters in the entire series, him and the white ranger. Coolest suits, coolest storylines. Just great character design and development.
I still think this is really cool. I like Austin. He brings a lot of oomph and presence to his performance, and the force in his voice is really distinctive. He's also just a chill guy who doesn't take himself too seriously, and has fun with what he's doing. Cool stuff from a cool dude.

Love the video. I still vividly remember that moment when Jason was revealed as the Gold Ranger. I really missed the original MNPR cast and seeing Jason getting to suit up again, even if only for a short time, was incredible. It helps that the suit was badass.
Facts!
From here to the Turbo movie, Jason was victorious. He returned to Power Rangers Zeo and was given the gold ranger powers, he already had the experience as leader (and didn't have to be), Billy came out of the Power Chamber (where before, he barely left) to train with Jason, and (this may be true, maybe not) he got Kimberly in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.

hes not kidding. when i first saw him return to Power Rangers after a 1 & a half year gap i was surprised & blown away to his return. main reason i love Austin as Jason its cuz Jason is born leader, he knows when is the time to fight & when to put ur emotions aside to help others & unlike Tommy, Jason always had the hardest decisions & those decisions made him a great Leader. wether hes MMRed or ZeoGold or even King Tyranno Austin as Jason will always be my fav Ranger & always great to meet him as a fan

Fun Fact: When Austin left...I was DEVASTATED. I told all my friends that they were going to come up with a Gold Ranger and Jason would come back...so when the Gold Ranger came around...all the rumors that it was Billy, Tommy's brother, they even hinted at Skull being the Gold Ranger...I told everyone it was Jason...to this day, I love telling that story because for the first (and only time) I told the future! Even when the kid in the first movie said he was going to be the Gold Ranger, I was so upset because I came up with the Gold Ranger and Jason was going to be the Gold Ranger.

Reminds me of when Dwayne Johnson confirmed that he'll be in a DC Comics movie and he said he's a character (quote from Dwayne) "who's never been played before". Of course, rumors got hot 'n heavy regarding who it is. once he confirmed that John Stewart isn't it, I felt sure that he went for the Black Adam role again and it stuck this time but some the folk I talked too about thought that'd be highly unlikely.

I felt 100% on his being BA but roughly everybody else thought he's Shazam because Shazam being played in a past television show and 1941 serial didn't matter due to assuming (beyond Johnson's word on the matter) that he only meant "never been played before [in a movie]." He was meant to be the mentor Ranger in Dino Thunder but didn't happen because they felt that the Black Dino Ranger suit was too similar to the Gold Zeo Ranger suit and they didn't want to have Jason to have the same color twice. But it was ok for Tommy, Adam Tanya and Kat to have the same colors for three seasons in a row for some reason. Then I read somewhere that they again considered making Jason the mentor in Operation Overdrive but again it didn't happen for some reason.

Was he really in 17 episodes? I swear it felt like 3. It flew by so fast. Gold Zeo Jason was way too epic to be so short-lived. I remember being so hyped for this. Then he lost his powers, then Turbo happened and I just didn't care anymore.

Best Red Ranger Ever! Full stop no arguments
I like how the roles of the first season were basically mirrored. You wet red and Tommy was the 6th ranger. And then Zeo came it was the other way around. It was interesting seeing the dynamics change. As well as the different interactions with the Zeo cast being how it was mostly a different group compared to season 1 and 2 of MMPR
And it was the perfect opportunity to have Kat being romantically involved with Jason rather than Tommy, mirroring Tommy and Kimberly and in the King for a Day two-parter they could have Jason becoming evil instead of Tommy, mirroring Tommy's Evil Green Ranger days but they blew it.

i always say "don't ever forget Jason" when people love to brag about Tommy. Jason always had that alpha male aura about him even in 'Forever Red'. A true leader puts his team first, knows exactly who to put where, is an inspiration and always has a clear head, whenever there's a fight in a group, there has to be that one guy that has to be that rock. That was Jason.

He comes off so organic and charismatic instead of someone who sounds like they're portraying their character.

He even told me why he left & it was because payment he needed for his mom. I couldn't believe it when i heard it. He also said that the reason why he came back was from the vid(i think)Anyways the guy is a real blessing & was even touched that he'll always be one of the no.1 red ranger of all in power rangers. I was always the Red ranger as a child. I'm now 31. Jason played a big impact on my childhood. My first movie and first show that I can remember as a child. When the white ranger showed up I was amazed but that still didn't change my opinion. Much love!

The gold ranger is easily one of my favorite characters in the entire series, him and the white ranger. Coolest suits, coolest storylines. Just great character design and development.

I still think this is really cool. I like Austin. He brings a lot of oomph and presence to his performance, and the force in his voice is really distinctive. He's also just a chill guy who doesn't take himself too seriously, and has fun with what he's doing. Cool stuff from a cool dude.
