Crazy how both Austin and Steve both wanted raises for the whole cast during their time on Power Rangers. Red Rangers really looking out for the Power Team!
Reality mirrors fiction sometimes. Criminal how underpaid they were. Especially the original cast for the billions they brought in. 30 years later it's still unbelievable!
@@equivalentexchangeisalie5726 Indeed. I have zero respect for the producers and executives behind Power Rangers. They deliberately kept the show out of the SAG union because they knew teenagers were easy to manipulate. They knew teens would be too excited about booking a job on TV to question all the financial details. Of course that luster eventually faded, and soon the cast did start asking questions, and suddenly those who did, POOF gone. Since it wasn't a union show, they were easily disposable and screwed out of a substantial fortune.
The cost of living in LA was freaking OUTRAGEOUS. It was $1500/mo for a studio... in 2001!! And effective minimum wage was still about $5/hr, so I'd imagine much of the cast was making between $10 - $12/hr (if MMPR OG didn't make it VERY apparent that it was always a "budget show" and the special effects obviously got most of the budget increases over the years). So it's over 100 manhours just for a place to live. They weren't wrong; and they deserved more/better roles for their work, too. Instead, most of them, imho, got shortlisted instead.
You hit the nail on the head by saying, "It was confusing for kids." I was seven years old at the time and the biggest Power Rangers fan you could imagine. And I loved the CHARACTERS as well as the robots and spandex outfits. I missed Passing the Torch when it first aired, so one day I went to tune in to Power Rangers and almost the entire cast was different except Justin and I was genuinely upset. And the episode I happened to be watching wasn't even acknowledging the fact that the team was completely different, which frustrated me so much that I stopped watching for years. As much as I love the PR franchise, these behind-the-scenes stories are so unfortunate, but I really appreciate you guys sharing what really happened. Love your channel!
I remember passing the torch episode was sad seeing them all leave instead of having one or three Rangers leave it was the whole OG team. Took me awhile to get used to the new team in Turbo.
@BLACK SUN It's okay. We love our characters in the USA adaption of the series. I'm sure super sentai is great but as children our Power Rangers were and still are the USA adaption series.
I really feel like they should have written the entire second half of Turbo differently to have the new Rangers around in the story, but not have them take up the torch until the very end of the season. Say at the end you have Tommy, Kat, Tanya and Adam say that they can’t chase Divatox into space because it would leave the earth unprotected, but then have TJ, Carlos, Cassie, and Ashley (who have been in the story for half of Turbo) step up and volunteer to go into space. That would have been a much smoother transition.
That’s so much better and it would have helped Adam’s pop up during Space. Say they separated for a bit to try and restore their powers. A work in progress/slight update of them and that be that.
Well you didn't think about Justin who couldn't leave the earth cause he was a minor. If they would had left like you explained, Blake's Blue Turbo Ranger probably got Recast to an older actor and probably Power Rangers Inspace would had been an add on to Turbo as Power Rangers Turbo Overdrive
Yep, they should have finished the Turbo series off and have the new crew take over afterwards. We got an episode with Carlos and Ashley, so we were sort of familiar with them. There was no buildup with TJ and Cassie. It felt very rushed.
The way they said it, it sounds like they didn't choose to leave. They clearly hinted that they could've stayed until Turbo was over and were not ready. And You know what? I personally enjoyed the relationship between Kat/Tanya and Justin. They both were like big sisters and motherly figures to him. Especially since the Turbo movie.
Also like Adam/Tayna relationship. They were never a couple but felt like they could have been. I saw more chemistry between them then I saw between Oliver and Felicity in arrow. Like if you feel the same way.
And yet there was this weird thing where one of the episodes the Sentai footage that was used had Kat asking Justin what they were going to do, which made zero sense to me as Justin was a newb and Kat was a vetaran Ranger. It made so much more sense to do that with Cassie. Plus it felt to me that Justin was more on an equal footing with TJ, Carlos, Ashley, and Cassie then he ever was with Tommy, Kat, Adam, and Tanya
@@anakinjmt That's not the point I was making. And for the record, Justin is pretty much veteran ranger like the original 11 before him, because for many reasons. He was the 12th and last ranger to be recruited by Zordon, also he was said to be one of the original Turbo Rangers along with Tommy, Kat, Adam & Tanya, not a newbie with the newbies. Like the other original Rangers, he lost his powers and retired from being a ranger (while the newbies continued the career), right before he regained them like the other originals did later on. Like Tanya, he was addressed as a MMPR cast member too in an episode of a reality show called My Morphin Life. Sorry to tell you these, but it's the truth.
I remember when I was like 10 and Jason came back on Zeo as the Gold Ranger and cried. Was so happy that he returned. Power Rangers meant so much to us growing up :)
I felt like bursting into tears to hear this story but I was happy that we had the new cast and that made second half of Turbo better and how In Space became one of the most popular seasons
There was indeed an improvement as I noted above. It's too bad everyone couldn't stay on as supporting cast to round out the season, but Cat and Nakia covered that nicely.
What would've made the in space season better. If they had to use the ninja turtles from the first 2 movies then the 5 reject gas station brand turtles
Transparency, honesty & positivity all the great things you get on power rangers playback and this episode is another example of those great qualities that this channel brings to youtube 💛💖
Life as a Power Ranger is a thankless job. Either Zedd is always on your ass, or Saban is trying to pick your pocket. Thank you both for sticking through it. It sure means a lot to the rest of us.
The one good thing about changing casts halfway through Turbo was it gave the new cast time to gel before starting In Space, which probably contributed to it being one of the best seasons. Side note: it’s always fun to see the two of you doing your show together. It makes my heart warm knowing you are besties 🥰 Also you both still look fabulous! Rock on! 🤘
Passing The Torch was the end for me for a long time. I had been with the show since the beginning, and by then had no interest in watching a mostly all-new cast. I only vaguely kept up with it through seeing toys & commercials for years after that. I did watch DinoThunder since Jason David Frank came back for it, and I always watch any reunion episodes where vets such as yourselves make a special appearance. I love that you guys keep up the legacy of Power Rangers!
Why were the contracts only through the first half of the season? Thank you for sharing these stories with us and the great info. Terrible how poorly you guys were treated with pay and getting replaced just like that, but it's nice how you still appreciate the show and what it's brought you and fans.
My guess is that their contracts were annually not per season. During Turbo is probably when they decided to run the series differently. Then going into “In Space” was the definitive change for the series as a whole. A new season meant, new story, new characters, new setting.. almost anthology style for every season after it.
Contracts were a year-to-year basis, based on filming. So you reach a certain point in the filming - midseason or not - and you've either gotta respect/renew contracts, or do what they did.
Damn could you have imagine kat and tanya in space would've been epic. thank you for making this channel love hearing your thoughts and insight on the show.
honestly, I kinda-kinda-kinda knew, like a first feel, that something kinda came up when we saw the 4 new faces suddenly appeared regularly with such important roles in the storyline, reminding me the time when Rocky, Adam and Aisha first came in town (and no more appearance from Jason, Trini and Zack :( ) ! Only the difference that this time was so not much hurtful, because we see you guys directly entrusted the powers to the new trustworthy teenagers to be new Rangers (previous time had been so suddenly and painfully)! P/s: kinda sad that the real whole matter of your leaves was contracts and disagreement, but I think that's real life for us-aldult now!!!
Yeah, it's crazy, as a kid, I never actually noticed the edits and workarounds myself, but when Austin, Thuy, and Walter left the set... it's actually pretty amazing they were able to limp along for like 10 whole episodes (using re run footage, story heavily focused on JDF, David, and Amy so the others only appeared morphed most of the time, (it's super obvious now, but as a kid it flew right over my head unnoticed), then slowly introducing Steve, Johnny, and Karen as a team themselves who helped the Rangers, and became integrated with them as friends before the actual Power Transfer episode made them full official Rangers while Jason, Trini, and Zack finally left soooo many episodes after their actors... Even when Kat came in. Same thing, had a whole arc, while they also introduced Kim's motivation for growing and leaving the team, had Kat come over to the light, redeem herself, be a valuable asset to the Rangers before taking over (Karen to Nakia and Steve to Blake were also relatively clunky transitions, but involving single team members was slightly easier to gloss over, though it would have been better if they had the same treatment... Now the whole Turbo Team, we get like 2 or 3 episodes to introduce their replacements, no real indications of anyone wanting to leave in story (no Peace Conferences or International Gymnastics competitions built up) just "Hey, here's some new friends... Ok they're all the new Power Rangers, a couple of them haven't even met who their taking over for!" It was just so sudden and even rewatching, knowing what to look for, it still feels out of the blue, just a wall, wham, new team for ...reasons Thankfully Selwyn, Roger, Tracy, and Patricia got their chance to shine, and prove themselves worthy (They were perfectly fine in Turbo, just the aforementioned changes were the only things holding their characters reputations back, independently they were great... and In Space they got to prove that separated in their own season away from the bit of a mess of Turbo (which despite all of it's oddness, I still like Turbo more than a few other seasons of the franchise which came later lols))
My account was down for a long time but it’s all fixed now! I have heard wonderful things about your channel and I’m very pleased with my first preview. You two are still beautiful and fantastic! Glad to join your subscribers! Power rangers forever!
I love you both and may God bless your careers. You know we all grew up to you all but I thought you two ladies should know this is not the end I see this is just the beginning. God has amazing and beautiful blessings in store for you.
When the 5 cast members left Power Rangers in 1997 it came as such a big surprise. The show just wasn't the same without them. I still miss 'em being on there today.
I’m so sorry to hear that your departure from the show was less than amicable. Just know that the fans (myself included) love you and are so thankful for your work on the show. I know that this show helped me through some dark times and still helps me now. So glad that you have the ranger family to be surrounded by, and thanks for all that you continue to do for the fans
Let me tell you from first hand experience. I was around 8 when the turbo movie came out. I had all the toys & megazords & the movie on VHS. I was invested. The utter shock & confusion I had when they replaced the whole team halfway through the season is something I will never forget. I just couldn’t believe. It felt so random. There was absolutely no build up for that. I remember thinking no more Tommy? Really? Yeah they are so wack for that.
I love the chemistry between the two of you ! Your videos are very sincere, and i like the relaxing vibe of your discussions ! Greetings from Switzerland ;)
You know, with having Lord Zedd return in action, and the possibilities of more old foes returning, I can see potential for returning rangers (the first 12 who were that chosen by Zordon, including Justin who was the last Ranger chosen by him as seen in the Turbo movie) like Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy, Trini, Tommy, Aisha, Rocky, Adam, Kat, Tanya, & Justin, back in action or getting their own ranger shows again. Even for those two. You know, like some kind of reunion nostalgia thing. I don't know it, but that would be so cool. You never know. I can imagine.
Nakia, was it true Tracy and Roger were originally going to be Red and Pink and Johnny and you were to stay as Green and Yellow, but then they decided to replace everyone? Much as I hated to see you go, splitting the team would've been worse.
I think Tracy said she was always meant to be yellow. And keep in mind that they actually confirmed that Cat wasn't interested in leaving. Only JDF was.
I read somewhere that sound the end of zeo JDF expressed he wanted to leave they were going to make Johnny the red ranger which was why he was growing out his hair at the time but at the last min they scrapped it and decided to just create a new team.
@@NicholasPeters1 JDF says in an interview that when he told Saban he wanted to leave, Saban told him that if he left the rest of the cast would be fired and replaced.
I'm 34 now and I actively remember being like 9 or 10 and turning on the TV to watch Power Rangers Turbo having missed a couple episode the weeks prior. And I was genuinely shocked when I saw a whole new team of rangers in the suits. I was freaked out. But at the same time, as a black man, when I saw T.J. as a Red Ranger..I kinda felt proud. It was bitter sweet cause I loved that original team and it felt like the end of an era for my childhood.
All that aside. It's lovely to see you ladies have stay connected after all these years. Kat and Tanya were two of the greatest and will forever be legends of the PR family.
Thanks for sharing this, the fans always like to hear what happened behind the scenes. It's definitely a shitty way to have been treated, they should have been upfront with you. I can see why they wanted a clean break though rather than endless changes because by that stage it felt like an assortment of characters picked up from each season (Tommy from Season 1, Adam Season 2, Kat Season 3, Tanya from Zeo and Justin from Turbo). Bringing in a whole new team also meant that the characters were already somewhat developed for PRiS which made that series better than if we had to get used to brand new characters then.
@@yujieleong8821 I wonder if the intention was that Justin would provide some continuity between the 2 halves of Turbo, that there wasn't a complete cast change between or in the middle of a season
The transition to the new team was very abrupt, but I did end up liking them in Turbo. The second half of Turbo actually reminds me a lot of MMPR season 1 because it was a fresh start basically.
And new zords and weapons just like the trend MMPR set with its second half of seasons, usually new weapons or zords got added ......like when the Shogun zords were found
Just stumbled upon your vid and wow, this is blowing my mind, it's so cool to see you both talking about all this, I wanna thank you both for all your hard work on the series... And yeah, it was confusing for us kids back then. I was one of the kids... I had the full Zeo set of figures AND the full Turbo set of figures and... because... of..... incidents... in which one of my iolder brothers played with fire, well, I... no longer have the full Turbo set... yeah... he destroyed them all, but, yeah... I want to thank you both for all the joy you brought me as a kid and I'm sorry that they had such a bad tendency to let rangers go for.... asking for being properly compensted.... ugh. Remembering the toys I had in my collection and the popularity of the characters, you guys *deserved* more money. You deserve the adoration of us fans
Honestly I missed the second part of passing the torch and was...extremely confused and mortified when all of a sudden everyone but Justin was gone, nearly took me out of the show till In Space to be honest. Well, I know its decades past the now but, always wondered if they asked " Tommy" to stick around one last season for Space how it would have went if the Zordon era ended with at least some of the ones who started the series...well...would make a fun comic at least.
Above all else i'm so happy the transition, despite how the true motivations of the production crew were, did not make you feel disconnected to your fans and the show itself, both then and now. I love you both and it was like a dream when I got to meet you.
It was good to hear your side of the reason why you guys left. Nakia brought up an excellent point, as a producer you do what's best for the show. Still grateful all the work you guys put into to the franchise
I was so sad that day then the new rangers arrived and it took me a while to get over the fact y’all where gone and not returning miss y’all so much may the power protect you forever 😉😁😁
Love you guys. Thanks for being a special part of my childhood. I agree that it was weird for you guys going halfway and the other half with new rangers.
I had seen PRT: Honey, I Shrunk The Rangers Pt. 1, and that was the last episode I had seen with Kat, Nakia, Johnny, and Jason. Then I ended up seeing a commercial briefly mentioning new rangers afterwards. Months had passed (unable to watch it for a while) and then there was this new opening and these new characters (with the exception of Blake's Justin) and I was like, "What happened?" At that point, ALL six OG rangers were gone. But with this video, my view is further cemented.
While there have definitely been popular seasons since this cast was retired I think it was really the death knell for PR's continued market domination. Changing casts out every season makes it difficult to bond with characters who are just gonna be gone in 20 episodes and the episodic orientation of the show makes sure you only get a surface level understanding of the characters. Well, except Red usually.
I understand the producers etc but I also have a lot of empathy for how you ladies felt, Jdf felt etc. I'd expect them to show mich more respect to you for all the sacrifices and long hours and in my,opinion not correct pay. People who constantly ask why did you leave and why don't you go back gotta understand it's not that open and closed. My hats off to you ladies. It was a experience I wish I could have had.
They both grew into gorgeous women! Tanya lol as I know her bloomed! And Kat wow! Lifelong beauty! It's shocking to find out what really happened! At that time it probably didn't feel good at all, but in retrospect leaving really immortalized you all. I watched the show every day from the beginning of the franchise.
It's really a shame, because to me it felt so much like Adam and Tanya were pushed forward that season as like the new leaders as Tommy was taking a backseat more. So for me watching it now I think it would have made more sense to just let JDF go like he wanted to and bring someone new. Heck they could have promoted Adam to red and replaced green, I don't know. I know for me as a kid Turbo is where I kind of feel off a bit because you all were suddenly gone. I think with how PR had worked up until that point gradually changing out cast members worked better for the audience because sudden change like that doesn't always go over well with kiddos.
It sucks how it all went down but so happy to see how you both reacted so professionally. I love your UA-cam and you are 2 of the best rangers there's been. Keep those videos coming 😊
The real problem with the sudden transition was that it took place a few episodes into the second half of the season after "Honey, I Shrunk The Rangers" was the midseason cliffhanger. Unless you want to include the detonators and Dimitria talking in question, both of which were dropped in "Passing The Torch". Instead of doing the cliffhanger, they could have taken the break after Passing The Torch. Question for everyone since I missed the original airing: were there ads advertising new Rangers during the first half of Turbo or the midseason break?
I wish that they had developed Kat and Tanya more. Like who was Kat’s parents? Where was Kat living during Zeo and Turbo after Aisha left the show? Because if I ain’t wrong I could have sworn that Kat was living with Aisha during MMPR\MMAR season 3? A matter in fact where was Tanya was living during Turbo and Zeo while her parents were in Africa? So many unanswered questions. Turbo was such a weird season.
Good point. I rewatched Turbo recently for the first time since the late 90s and thought the 'original' team were really poorly developed, especially Kat who just seemed to shout Tommy! or Justin! all the time and we rarely saw any personality from her besides 'nice'. They seemed to make more of an effort with the new team though they were developed more in PRiS.
Tanya lived with Kat and her family during the first half of Zeo. I remember at the very end of a Zeo Beginning Pt. 2 she says Katherine' parents said that she could stay with them.
Thank you for sharing this… As a young teen and fan watching at the time, I was let down by the cast change. I kept watching but it wasn’t the same. And to be honest, the show didn’t feel the same until Disney presented Ninja Storm, a season I enjoyed. I just watched the other seasons as a routine but the excitement of MMPR and Zeo wasn’t the same until Ninja Storm.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the Turbo set. To hear you guys, Cat and Nakia, talk about it makes it sound like it was a joy to be there, saying you were like family and all. What were the hours like? Did the thought ever enter your mind, "Well, at least whatever I do next won't be this demanding"? Or was it not like that, because the good usually outweighed the bad?
i wish you guys finished turbo! i like tj, cassie, carlos and ashley but not as the turbo rangers..they were meant to be the space rangers but you guys were the perfect turbo team!
So that rumor about Catherine wanting to leave and how Johnny and Nakia were originally going to stay on was false. The newspaper thing definitely makes more sense considering how the cast change played out.
There’s scripts with Lt Stone niece as a main character. Plus Carlos wore red during his early episodes. Things changed so fast in the power Rangers production after Sloan left
I remember you guys answered my question about this at the breakfast at Morphicon 2016. And I still think it's awful that y'all found out via a newspaper article. I know a couple of y'all wanted to leave but the way it was done was pretty cold. And it was very awkward; the transition that is. They did that Passing the Torch episode and all of sudden the next week, they proceed with new episodes like yall never existed.
When I look back on that day in 1997, I remember being a little bummed, because yeah our Rangers we grew up with where leaving, but your replacements did come in and nail it out the park and kept your Legacy alive. :) Like many I could go on and on about Power Rangers, but I won't, I'll just say this Turbo was just as good as the rest of Power Ranger Series and Justin was awesome. :) Justin is the only time I stopped being a Red Ranger to be Blue with my friends playing Power Rangers. It sucks that SO Many of you were just time and time again, just treated poorly and unfairly. The more Ranger Interviews I hear the more "Horror" stories I hear about behind the scenes. However, I think that's what's great about UA-cam and the Conventions, it the perfect trade-off and you're always awesome and amazing people. :) I do hope I get to one day meet all you in person at Power Morphicon. Stay Awesome! Stay Epic!
I felt like they rushed the replacement too fast. Wish we could have seen a few epoisdes Tommy and the others getting to know TJ and others and mentoring them before finally leaving. It's like in one episode they were supposed to be on vacation then the 2nd part of that epoisde they were replaced. Felt like it could have been done better.
In Turbo passing the torch I was sad when you all left felt different having a whole new team took me awhile to get used to T.J. Cassie Carlos and Ashley.
I was 11 when Power Rangers Turbo aired. I personally wasn't confused by the transition but I did think it was pretty abrupt. Not enough of a set up but at that point I was OKAY with the change of characters. Even though Tommy was my fav. I do think it would have been better (looking back) if they kept the original team until the end of Turbo. Story wise, it would have been better.
When I first saw Power Rangers in Space I was a little confused because I was all “why is there all new people?” because last episode I saw of Power Rangers Turbo, Tommy, Kat, Tanya, and Adam were still in it but I later found out that about halfway in they were replaced
Oh wow I didn’t even know that. The story i read was everyone but Nakia and Johnny wanted to leave. Steve wanted to leave due to wanting to focus on his dojo which he opened up at the time (didn’t know it was over money but I’m not surprised). Jason wanted to leave around the same time to move onto new work and chapter in his career. They gave Rocky the transition arc with the back injury and to Justin (which was the stupidest idea ever) and convinced jason to stay about 20 episodes to transition in a new team which is why Adam, Tanya, and Kat got to transition too. I also read Catherine wanted to leave at that point for some reason, but I would have loved to see Adam become the new leader of the turbo rangers with Tanya, Kat, Justin, and TJ as a new member. TJ is my favorite team 2 turbo ranger but that is what I wanted cuz as far as I knew, Johnny and Nakia for sure had no intentions to leave. Saban is a snake and greedy jerk I hope he burns in hell for all the greedy decisions he’s made and screwed all of you how he has over the years. Yall deserved so much better.
Honestly the "passing the torch" episode midway through the Turbo season was like the nail in the coffin for me. I had been with the show since the beginning and was really pissed off when they basically changed the entire cast. I felt like they were the last remaining ones that I had grown up with Tommy, Adam and Kat since Mighty Morphin and Tanya since Zeo. At that point I was about 13 years old I had been with the show since the age of 8 and I was just tired of them changing the cast all the time I was just done.
If they were planning on changing casts halfway through, I feel like TJ, Cassie, Ashley, and Carlos should've been introduced closer to the beginning, like how Rocky, Adam, and Aisha were added in MMPR. Those three actually had a bit of an introduction and became friends with Tommy, Billy, and Kimberly before being rangers. I think this made that transition a bit smoother. For Turbo, it felt extremely fast, and there were no outstanding characteristics (that I can remember) on why they were chosen to take over the team. Just seemed so rushed. That's also terrible to found out for the first time through a _newspaper_ about Power Ranger auditions.
I think it would be best if the original team remained until the end, then the original team (tommy, cat, adam and tanya) transfer their powers to the new team (TJ, carlos, cassie and ashley), so the new inexperienced team fights against divatox in a surprise final battle, loses to her and then our new heroes go to space. It would be a much more natural transition.
They Been Losing A Lot Of Rangers on Power Rangers, Jason, Trini & Zack Got Replaced By Rocky, Adam & Aisha, Then Kimberly Got Replaced By Kat, Aisha Wanted To Stay In Africa, Because She Gave The Yellow Zeo Crystal To Tanya. Tommy, Tanya, Kat & Adam Got Replaced By TJ, Cassie, Ashley & Carlos
Yeah, I remember how jarring it was as a kid watching my favorite Rangers (the two of you, specifically) suddenly replaced with these characters who were completely unknown to us and leaving us only Justin, whom (and I mean this with no disrespect to Blake Foster) the majority of fellow fans that I knew pretty much despised. Even worse, these characters continued into “Power Rangers in Space” which brought an end to the Zordon era and it bothered me as a kid because none of these Rangers had a connection to Zordon and I often wondered what that season would have been like emotionally if Tommy, Kat, Tanya and Adam remained until the end.
Yeah I heard he had that reputation...he produced the ocean dub of dbz and Ian James Corlett ..the original voice of adult English goku said he quit because of being over worked and underpaid
To be fair Thuy, Austin and Walter ruined whatever direction PR could've gone had they didn't leave and I doubt it was because of money since Yost Amy and Jason stayed for the remainder of Mighty Morphin. It was Mighty Morphin that made the most money while the following years were subpar with since they weren't as popular. So people need to stop blaming Saban for the money and just blame the fact that they stopped being creative with PR.
Thank you for sharing this personal and informative story with us the fans. It definitely wasn't an easy experience to go through, but at least it helped to boost the popularity of the show for generations to come, and to have the younger modern-day fans look back on the early years and get introduced to your characters as well.
I think because in the japanese counterpart for Carranger, there is an episode where Carranger (Power Rangers Turbo) fight against Ohranger (Power Ranger Zeo) someone uploaded to youtube here is the link : ua-cam.com/video/Rvfjt5i_OM8/v-deo.html The fight between Zeo and Turbo japanese counterpart starts at 13:28 in the video link above. Maybe Saban planned to adapt this episode and make : Team Zeo Vs Team Turbo like the Japanese sentai counterpart but sadly the America version did not adapt it
I remember being a kid and the next episode after they transfered was the new team being baked into a pizza. And that was the first moment when I could remember being like, "bruh" 🤦🏻♂️
To be honest back then when I watched passing of the torch I didn't think much of it when you guys left but watching it as an adult It was sad to see you guys leave
I feel the Turbo series was the weakest of the Zordon era-with the old and new cast. It just didn't mesh well with the surrounding series. It just felt off due to bad writing, and the vehicle zords felt like a Transformers rip off. Ironically I feel Zeo and Space were the best series all-around, and helped all the actors respectively shine.
As a kid, I was heartbroken when you guys left the Turbo. While I did watch a couple of episodes after you guys left, it wasn't the same and I stopped watching power rangers all together. 20 years later, I've gone back to watch the rest of Turbo and the other series to realize that there were some great seasons like In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, and Dino Thunder.
I was upset when they left to. Justin may have been the only reason I kept watching since I knew his character. Other 4 were like strangers. By the time Justin left I got time to know the other 4 so I kept watching. When they changed the whole cast for lost galaxy I stop watching for months but got back into it when I saw how good the show was.

@BLACK SUN It's okay. We love our characters in the USA adaption of the series. I'm sure super sentai is great but as children our Power Rangers were and still are the USA adaption series.
Same. I was confused AF when I turned on the tv and all of the rangers were new.
It makes me happy that these two are still best friends decades later, really cool to see 😊
These 2 are still as Beautiful as EVER!!!
@@KNightRider504You could tell JDF was burnt out.
The transition from the first turbo tean to the second could have been done better but it turned out okay considering
I enjoyed that, too
I remember when I was like 10 and Jason came back on Zeo as the Gold Ranger and cried. Was so happy that he returned. Power Rangers meant so much to us growing up :)
Yeah I Remember Seeing that Episode
Not just Zedd, but Rita, Divatox, Astronema, The Machine Empire, etc. etc.
😂😂😂
And Zedd is more honorable
Funny but true
I recently started watching Turbo with my kids. As a kid, I had somehow missed that Adam and Tanya were an item! Y'all were great together.
🤣 damn I never forgot it. Cutest couple.
That was me but after PR: SPD...
Saban has always been a notorious company for their treatment of their cast and workers
Ok they're all the new Power Rangers, a couple of them haven't even met who their taking over for!"
It was just so sudden and even rewatching, knowing what to look for, it still feels out of the blue, just a wall, wham, new team for ...reasons
Thankfully Selwyn, Roger, Tracy, and Patricia got their chance to shine, and prove themselves worthy (They were perfectly fine in Turbo, just the aforementioned changes were the only things holding their characters reputations back, independently they were great... and In Space they got to prove that separated in their own season away from the bit of a mess of Turbo (which despite all of it's oddness, I still like Turbo more than a few other seasons of the franchise which came later lols))
My account was down for a long time but it’s all fixed now! I have heard wonderful things about your channel and I’m very pleased with my first preview. You two are still beautiful and fantastic! Glad to join your subscribers! Power rangers forever!
Hi everyone
Hi
I love you both and may God bless your careers. You know we all grew up to you all but I thought you two ladies should know this is not the end I see this is just the beginning. God has amazing and beautiful blessings in store for you.
What's up
Hello.
Who is Aaron? You said they replaced Aaron?
When the 5 cast members left Power Rangers in 1997 it came as such a big surprise. The show just wasn't the same without them. I still miss 'em being on there today.
It wasn't the same when ASJ,Walter and Thuy left
I am glad that I watched this video. Thank you for being so forward and honest with us, Cat and Nakia! Keep up the great work, ladies!
I love y’all friendship 😅💛💖
I wonder what they thought when he came back for dinothunder
@@stevengamble5290 Crazy isn’t it. They all had to leave the show because of JDF and he ended up returning to the show 7 years later
I Remember Seeing that Episode A Couple of times
Definitely
Thanks for sharing this, the fans always like to hear what happened behind the scenes. It's definitely a shitty way to have been treated, they should have been upfront with you. I can see why they wanted a clean break though rather than endless changes because by that stage it felt like an assortment of characters picked up from each season (Tommy from Season 1, Adam Season 2, Kat Season 3, Tanya from Zeo and Justin from Turbo). Bringing in a whole new team also meant that the characters were already somewhat developed for PRiS which made that series better than if we had to get used to brand new characters then.
Then should've done so right between the end of Zeo & start of Turbo, not in the middle of Turbo, when fans & audience are alr halfway into Turbo
@@yujieleong8821 I wonder if the intention was that Justin would provide some continuity between the 2 halves of Turbo, that there wasn't a complete cast change between or in the middle of a season
I like seeing an odd assortment of characters from different series mixed with new ones.
I was just glad Justin in gone when In Space debuted
I’m so ready for this, I’ve so far behind with past couple of videos, sorry to the both of you. I got a lot going on
Hi Iam a power ranger fan also so question when did you stop watching the show I stopped after in space
Because I had a lot going on, it doesn’t mean that I wasn’t going to stop watching their videos I was just busy that week
Thank you for this one! It was great!
What a Professional and insightful answer. Thank you for this!
Looking forward to it 🙌
Catherine and Nakia, very powerful story. Your channel rocks. Thank you.
You two are amazing and the most amazing people with your fans! My son is still talking about meeting you at Morphicon.
Thanks for telling everyone about your story it was very honest and happy holidays
Although I think Lost Galaxy was amazing and the cast all rememberable......I think Lost Galaxy was the best new cast of rangers,
I understand the producers etc but I also have a lot of empathy for how you ladies felt, Jdf felt etc.
So this explains why Sewlryn, Patrica, Tracy, & Roger were cast as TJ, Cassie, Ashley, & Carlos thanks for explaining this reason.
Casted isn’t a word, it’s Cast!
@@darthilli whatever
Question for everyone since I missed the original airing: were there ads advertising new Rangers during the first half of Turbo or the midseason break?
the original 2nd half of honey i shrunk the rangers, being killed as flies Lucky enough the censor board, nixed it.
I would love Tania to have guest stared in the power rangers special
Wow me and my family and friends looooved you guys!
God used you for the characters you where meant to voice the end and y’all will forever be the best
Yeah it's been discussed in con videos.
Stay Epic!
The actress who played Tanya is still beautiful as always. Katherine have an beautiful accent and pretty.
They showed the producers a lot of grace that they didn’t deserve. No raises? No honesty about being replaced? Awful.
Kat I love your positive perspective on the experience.
What I wanted to know is why did Austin come back is the Black zeo ranger If he was too busy fed up with the series
That's what killed Turbo and pretty much the whole franchise for me when I was a kid. I remember the utter confusion and frustration to this day! :(
I was 11 when Power Rangers Turbo aired.
You are 11 that’s why
@@tangiechapman6219 That's why what?
I am so sorry for what happened to you both they didn’t deserve you two queens this made me cry 😢❤️💗💛🌹
Wow this is News to me! Thank you so much for your transparency and contribution to the Ranger Legacy!!
Cat still looks hot as hell. Was my childhood crush forsure.
Saban has let down so many actors
And you guys were the best power rangers of all time till this day
That was a really nice story, very touching. :)
I still believe that it should have been Tommy or Jason to destroy zordon's energy tube
Saban treated and paid his actors like shit. He's a greedy bastard on soooo many levels. How he did them was soooo wrong!
It definitely wasn't an easy experience to go through,
but at least it helped to boost the popularity of the show for generations to come,
and to have the younger modern-day fans look back on the early years and get introduced to your characters as well.
The fact of the matter is they got screwed. No matter how you slice it, even 25 years later they're affected by this.
They knew that working in PR *ISN'T* a surefire way to start your acting career.
When you guys left my heart was broken I stopped watching power rangers I hope that one day I'll meet you guys you are an inspiration to me
I think because in the japanese counterpart for Carranger, there is an episode where Carranger (Power Rangers Turbo) fight against Ohranger (Power Ranger Zeo) someone uploaded to youtube here is the link :
ua-cam.com/video/Rvfjt5i_OM8/v-deo.html
The fight between Zeo and Turbo japanese counterpart starts at 13:28 in the video link above.
Maybe Saban planned to adapt this episode and make :
Team Zeo Vs Team Turbo like the Japanese sentai counterpart but sadly the America version did not adapt it
I remember being a kid and the next episode after they transfered was the new team being baked into a pizza. And that was the first moment when I could remember being like, "bruh" 🤦🏻♂️
This is great to know. Thank you!
Catherine was always gorgeous
Kat did not age well but dear lord Nakia hasn't aged and looks as hot as the first time I saw her 25 years ago. She was my crush after Trini
I feel like the fans will never be able to get a straight up _”tell-all”_ answer about those years working for Saban Entertainment.
To be honest back then when I watched passing of the torch I didn't think much of it when you guys left but watching it as an adult It was sad to see you guys leave
They should have never replaced the original cast with Zack, Kimberly, Jason with the exception of Trini Rip
For me it was the sudden last episode that annoyed me. I wish there was a built up to it and not just boom last episode
Exactly. The transition was way too quick. Should have given at least 4-5 episodes.
Love and respect to the oh cast
I feel the Turbo series was the weakest of the Zordon era-with the old and new cast. It just didn't mesh well with the surrounding series. It just felt off due to bad writing, and the vehicle zords felt like a Transformers rip off.
Ironically I feel Zeo and Space were the best series all-around, and helped all the actors respectively shine.
I love Zeo even to this day!!!
Yeah The whole car thing was dumb af.... Zeo and Space was so best better
I love you guys great actresses and great Rangers as well and just genuinely good people
As a kid, I was heartbroken when you guys left the Turbo.
