The infamous ME2 cold open might be the biggest curveball that any game has ever thrown at me. It's like "I heard you really liked the first game and everything in it...Well, let's just throw all of that out of the airlock!" 😄 So, welcome to ME2! Strap yourself in, it's going to be one hell of a ride!
Having played all the ME games several times, I feel like the theme of ME2 is, "You cant go home again." I was also hyped to rebuild my old team and have a "The band is back together!" moment, and figuring out that nothing was going to be like it was in ME1 was almost heartbreaking. Only knowing that my old friends were still out there trying to live their best lives salvaged it into a merely bittersweet situation.
@@Pokeysaurus A old Bioware fan here, with over 1000 hours on ME. ME2 was for me incredible adventure, so much new things. Although i didn't like the harsh start after resurrection.
Seriously. Even though I get recommendations for people playing ME1, I always wait until I see their reaction to this part to decide if I want to follow their playthrough.
The opening to this game and Shepard's "death" was a very clever way for the creators to give players the opportunity to respec their character if they wanted to, while still maintaining continuity from their ME1 character, and if new players were coming into this game without playing ME1 (I don't know why they'd do that though) they could just go ahead and create a "new" Shep.
ME1 didn't appear on PlayStation consoles until the Trilogy collection. PS players started with ME2, which is why a number of people started at ME2, didn't fully understand what was going on, and gave up on the series early.
It was less about respec and more about introducing Cerberus on a grander stage so to speak. I don't want to say any spoilers because kaliwali is still playing. But the thing is, the respec was convenient, but it introduced multiple new consistent characters, added a trove of lore and background and was a means to completely change the dynamic of the galaxy. Two years passing does that as well. AND they introduced a new enemy on top of it all, AND cemented his legendary status due to death then resurrection. its a lot too add in the first 10-20 minutes of the game tbh. It was way more than a respec.
@@adventofknowledge No, the opening was all about character respec and replacing the Normandy. With the addition of Playstation to the the release, they also wanted to give new players a way to create their own Shepard, too. Cerberus saving Shepard was simply a convenient way to introduce them after clearing the way for a new Normandy and "updated" Shepard.
Quite possibly the single greatest cold open to a video game. 13 years on and still has yet to be topped. It’s also great to see new players discovering this gem of a game.
Woho! 🥳 HERE WE GO!! So excited for this one ❤👊 When I played Mass Effect first time, I had to wait 28 months for ME2 to arrive. Glad I didn't have to wait that long between your episodes😄
Thank you for showing the Infiltrator Class Love. I thought I was one of the few bc I haven't seen any YT content showing anything but Vanguards. I have tried other classes but I've played Infiltrator so much that I ended up playing other classes as Infiltrator. Also, I loved how your reaction was so real from just the beginning. I just watched someone who was more focused on their Twitch chat and didn't really notice what happened. ME2 opening still gets me every time bc you are so invested in the characters that it pains you watching the Normandy go down. I hope you enjoy the new Perks Infiltrator gets as well as the new moves. It is by far my favorite class and the Sniper Rifles are great! Enjoy the ME 2 Game!!
I have absolutely LOVED the Infiltrator class and the rifles! I couldn't see me playing any other way 💚 thank you for the kind words, also! I hope you enjoy this play through!
Your reaction to the opening scene was priceless. Like many others, Mass Effect 2 is my favorite of the series. Not to say the others are bad, just that this one sticks out the most for me. Can't wait to see more gameplay!
Probably too late to let you know, but in the character creator you can copy your imported Shepards code, and paste it in the custom creator to make any tweaks you'd like. i didn't know about this little trick my first go through but it's useful. So excited to see you continue your ME journey!
You've quickly become one of my favorites who play this game, your interactions and thought processes are really great! Love listening to your theories and input. My tip for this game: this game is much more action-oriented with less RPG elements, and it is definitely a cover-shooter. Looking forward to it!
Love it! You had Wilson pegged from the start. I paid closer attention to his dialogue this time, and you can see him funneling Sherpard and Jacob into waves of mechs. Your reaction to the loss of the Normandy was one of the most emotional I've seen. ME2's opening is outright shocking if you're coming from the first game. Based on your approach to the characters in ME 1 and your attachment to the Normandy, I predict that going to fall completely in love with many of the characters in the game. From here on out, the they have quite a bit more depth. Miranda's icy at the beginning, but she's a great character. You'll like each other. Also: "What was his name? Shadow Man? Illu-shus Man?"" Hmm. Illucius Malfoy. LOL
This is so incredible having played through the entire series and it being one of my favorite stories of all time, just watching you express such genuine emotions is really heart-warming. I’ll definitely be tuning in to watch you play the rest of this.
Ever since I started watching your videos (i started with ME1) I was waiting for this moment. It did not disappoint. :) ME2 opening is one of the best openings in all the games I've played even after watching it for the 100th time.
Relax, he hasn't said anything bad, be honest, we are all looking forward to this mission and seeing what happens, the possibilities are so many that anything can happen so it's not a spoiler
This is one of the best games ive played. Period. I actually started me2 first. Picked it by complete chance. I loved it that much i started me1 afterwards. The fact i didnt even start with me1 shows how good me2 actually is. Your going to love this game!
That is one of my favorite reactions to the beginning of ME2, haha. It's definitely one of the most memorable openings to a game. I can't wait for you to experience the rest! Not only are there new graphics and gameplay, but a new crew! Which also mean new romantic options! One in particular I think you'll like. My advice would be if you fall for any of these new options, go for it! I hope you have an amazing time with this game.
You can map your abilities and your teammates abilities to the top bar which are hotkeys. It helps alot during combat, and you can swap them using the Shift menu
I am so excited right with you. Watching your first playthrough, after my many, is like all new. You are in for a treat and I can't wait to see more of your reactions. Thank you for playing one of my all time favorite series.
Definitely the most EPIC opening of any game EVER! Opening of ME3 is close but no other game comes even close. Enjoy your journey - jealous that I can't experience it for the first time again.
I really enjoyed watching this opening, thank you for sharing your Mass Effect playthroughs! I love this series and ME2 has a special place in my heart for its great characters, cool combat and outstanding atmosphere and music. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!!
God, I just finished your ME1 playthrough and I had so much fun with your reactions 😹. Mass Effect is one of my favorite games and I really hope you keep enjoying it as much as I do ❤. I assure you that what you went through in ME1 is nothing compared to what you'll experience in the following games, so I wish you luck, and I'll be here following your journey through ME2... 😸
@@kaliwaliThis is late, but I'm just now watching your playthrough of ME2.. I'll catch up in a few days. One thing you mentioned that caught my attention was your comment about picking up ammo now in this game. You actually aren't. Your gun still produces it's own unlimited ammo like in the first game. They didn't like the overheat thing from ME1 because it wouldn't be feasible for a gun not to warp or melt, maybe even explode with constant overheating. Their fix for that in this game is to attach a thermal clip that captures the heat produced by a shot. The clip will only handle so much heat before it's burnt out, so after a certain number of shots, it's ruined and has to be replaced. The gun won't fire unless it senses a thermal clip has been fastened in place for safety reasons. In short, your gun has unlimited ammo but you're picking up a device that allows the gun to fire, ( for a certain amount of shots.)
just to make it simple...The Alliance refers to the all the countries of Earth coming together to fight the turians in the 1st Contact War. By the end of the war they more or less had enough power to be Earth's representatives in space. The Council is the representatives of the alliance of most alien species and C-Sec works for them as well as the Spectres. The Council controls the Citadel and sets policy for most of the galaxy.
God I love this opening. Your reaciton to it was amazing! I loved your prescient line "We're gonna make it, right?" or something like that. Also, in the final episode of Mass Effect when you said something like "they can't kill off the main character, right?" :D
Super excited for this playthrough, hope you enjoy :) If you have a trusted mod/friend who has played the game before might be worth checking what order to do some of the DLC's - they're scattered in the vanilla game and some are best left till after the standard game completion. Good luck commander!
One is [best left for never, IMO]. I can't believe people think the other one is too; it is way too useful, informative, and rewarding to leave for too late, IMO.
@@kaliwalithere is no correct order to do things, the people who tell you this only once you do it "their way" in the way that they think I should be played. The game however adapts to whatever order you do with any mission. I've played this trilogy numerous times and the order literally does not matter. The more people you have telling you what to do and how to play, the more likely you will run into a spoiler, honestly I think it only takes away from having your own personal (unique) experience.
In the first playthrough, the order doesn't matter as much. It's true, in retrospect, it seems like there is an optimal path, but encountering it for the first time, it still has much the same emotional resonance. I wish you a very enjoyable journey, Kali!!
Always enjoyable watching someone start ME2 for the first time 😂😂😂!!! It's always a stream of WTFs and OMGs! Looking forward to your reaction to the next part.
I will always admire the way that ME2 just immediately punches you right in the gut. Pretty bold decision, given that some players will have jumped right into ME2 without ever playing ME1.
BioWare said they wasn’t hold back any punches and delivered a banger of an intro and if it goes with most everything else, banger intro means banger series, your in for a treat, the series only gets better from here The Lazarus project, an Easter egg to biblical times where Jesus revived Lazarus from the dead
Without spoilers you eventually get a DLC mission called Arrival you will want to do that after you finish the main story. I’ll point it out when you get the mission.
You can also skip it entirely, as I always do on every replay. It's the one mission of all of ME that I resent, but BioWare is cool with you just skipping it and will adjust ME3 accordingly.
@@Rkay421 Nice transition? I have some words... [spoiler alert] In Arrival, My Shep is forced to murder a colony of people to hold off the invasion to buy some amount of time that my Shep has no idea will make a difference, that some magical solution will come up during that time. My Shep wouldn't do that. And the game does not give you a choice! It's only hindsight from ME3 that we know it bought time to find a magical plan on Mars. I'd rather just skip all of that murky nonsense, allow my Shep to make choices I'd prefer, and forget that Arrival DLC ever existed. And ME3 actually allows for this smooth transition if you do skip it it.
It's funny how almost everyone who starts playing Mass Effect gets immediately attached to one or a few crew members. This is Bioware at its best. They have such well written characters throughout their games. Excited to watch your journey!
I started playing recently - finished all 3 games. I started watching other let's plays too. Seen quite a few. What I noticed is that there are companions and NPCs that just rubs people the wrong way and by the end of all three games, they're completely turned around on how they feel about them. I can't believe even those that don't have much time in the spotlight get some kind of character progression. Now I know why so many people love these games and now, I'm one of them 😂
@@victorwonder Yeah first impressions are always mixed on companions but once you let their story play out you'll see the game building up their arcs. Obviously some get the spotlight more than others but almost everyone gets their own journey!
I am very excited, followed your ME1 playthrough. 👍 I played ME1 2007, later 2010 ME1 and ME2 :D and with the Start from ME3 ( i thing 2012 ) all 3. I played the ME LE Edition when she appeared and Now, it is the perfect Time to Play the LE Edition again but with Mods for me. 😂😂 Wish you all the best for your journey!
I saw that anticipation as you started and the excitement lol then l remembered what happens next, Mass effect 2 will fuck you up, fun game to play but not a "happy" game in the least. As for the difficulty, aint nothing wrong with playing lower tiers until you get to grips with the new game play style, then jump it once you have more Upgrades. Mass Effect 2 is a look at the Galaxy outside of the Alliance, explore it, enjoy it, have fun and dont forget to kick Cerberus in the balls on your way out the door :)
Played ME1 when it came out always meant to play 2 and 3 but never got around to it… picked up trilogy played through one and am now working on very first playthrough of ME2 crazy opening cant wait to see where this goes!
Glad to see you're ALSO a fan of identity-concealing helmets. 👍🏼 There's actually one you'll find later that helps with conversations. Once I found out that's what it did, I basically never took it off. I just love how it looks and sounds when Shepard's talking to people through a full coverage helmet. If I'm not mistaken, the Recon Hood was originally only in ME3, which is why it's included in the Legendary Edition of ME2 as a starting item, instead of being one you find out in the field. As I figured, it seems you approve of the combat changes. This is why I said you shouldn't listen to people telling you combat is harder. Not for someone used to shooters it's not! 😛 Certainly it's more polished than the previous game, but I would have preferred that they polish up the ARPG-style they already had, rather than changing it to a more "Gears Of War"-type shooting style. Still enjoy it of course. 30:20 - You didn't pay attention. "Brow" is right there! 😂 Your import still looks great. Legendary Edition is better about keeping Shepard's look consistent anyway. If you can't stand looking at her eyebrows, just keep those full face helmets on. 🤣 58:56 - You missed one more audio log from Miranda, some credits, and an introduction to a mini-game that you should now get in the next area. No big loss this time. Just remember to always check your objective marker, and go where the arrow points dead last. 😛 I believe they explain the objective marker in the next section. At least I hope they do, 'cause I have no idea how you do it on PC.
You can map your favorite functions. The line of open icons on the upper left are of your screen are where you can put your unity, favorite biotics, or other functions
“you remember that super advanced, top of the line, sleek, sexy stealth warship we gave you? Yeah, that’s space junk now. Sorry about that.” I was absolutely convinced I had done something wrong, to the point where I quit to the dashboard and replayed the intro….only to get the same exact result.
Well done on your first ME2 playthough. Don't shoot me people, just my opinion, but ME1, while I liked it, was far below ME2 and 3, so really looking forwards to your adventures. Thank you.
I love your decision to do more side missions! I'm looking forward to your reactions to those side missions, they're all hand crafted...if possible (not knowing encourages multiple playthroughs) pick your teams carefully, some crew have unique dialogues for certain missions. ❤️
I can't help to watching again your ME2 and ME3 blind playthroughs !!!!!!!! I like ME1, but ME2 and ME3 are definitely my favourite ones EVER !!!! They are SOMETHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before teaming up with you, Garrus worked for Citadel Security (C-Sec), the police force on the Citadel. The (Systems) Alliance is the organization that represents, or purports to, all humans in Citadel space. Both are highly bureaucratic government organizations, so I can understand the confusion, and the game in this episode does juxtapose the supposed bureaucratic ineffectiveness of the Alliance with the more nimble private organization, Cerberus. It does sort of echo what Garrus said about joining the team of a Spectre (a Citadel Council operative, not an Alliance one), to whom the (Citadel) government gives pretty much free reign (which also was a problem, as it turned out to be the case with Saren).
Just when you thought you were coming home. What a shock to see it destroyed in front of you. Then to be thrown from it's burning husk out into space, with an oxygen leak, to burn up in the atmosphere of an unnamed planet. To say it was an emotional event would be the quintessential understatement. Buckle up it's going to be a hell of a ride....
There is nothing, I say NOTHING, like watching a person play the opening bit of Mass Effect 2 for the first time. All the drama and confusion, Shepard legit dying, just a chef's kiss all around. If memory serves, back with the original marketing for ME 2 in 09-10, they kind of spoiled that Shepard was killed early on.
Let's Go! 😁 love the play, looking forward to next one. You did better than me...I was pissed that they killed my Shepard, since I had to play two full playthroughs to get 57th level with 10mil credits and all Spectre weapons at XIII+ under the original system - I got over it quick though 😉. By the way, there are more content decisions that carry over from ME1 than what they showed. *Important* Watch for interactive mouse prompts during cut scenes. You'll be able to mod your weapons and armor as you play, making your favorite weapons work better for your style of play (increasing thermo capacity is a nice mod for more powerful guns with low ammo)...and hey, there's only one triple shot sniper rifle in the game to avoid 😆
ME2 is definitely the hardest because you gotta upgrade the ship and everything and do side missions before the suicide mission and it's very versatile
I understand you don't want your video to be very long for you, that would give you a lot of work to do, but if you're worried about us, don't be... We all LOVE Mass Effect, a video of you playing the game can never be too long for us 😉
That Fifth Element comment was Super Green! Lmao i had those same vibes my first time playing ME2 😂 Sooo excited for your ME2 experience, all i will say is to not be afraid to get Renegade a little more than usual lol absolutely choose your own path, but it's very hard to fail your first playthrough 🎉 P.S. Miranda is my personal favorite character ❤
You can slot abilities (including the heal) to your bar in the upper left corner. Just hold shift and drag it there. You can even do that with squad powers. Also I think you can disable the helmet in conversations.
As you might have seen already, this game will test you in more ways than one. I look forward to seeing the choices you make Commander 🫡 So excited to watch your playthrough and thank you for your hard work!
I was looking to see if anyone else posted this, and couldn't find anyone. So here it is, The 2 people talking in the opening are played by famous actors. The Illusive Man is played by Martin Sheen of the West Wing, Platoon & other movies. Also the father of Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. Miranda is plsyed by Yvonne Strahovsky, who was a lead of the Series, Chuck, abd is also a lead in the series, The Handmaid's Tale.
Hi Kali, welcome back! Quick tips - 1 Make sure all squad mates are levelled up at the start of a mission. 2 At the start of a mission make sure that you put ammo powers each of your weapons. Do the same for squad mates who have them. 3 Heavy weapons, like the grenade launcher, save those getting out of life or death situations.
Actually you can go to your squad screen at any time during missions to level up, It's the weapons screen you only get at beginning of a mission ( unless you come across a armory ).
STRONG disagree. Don't level up squadmates lightly; it's preferable to wait until you fill your team out so you can plan out their progression. Beyond leveling up their class ability, you should be patient and thoughtful about how you spend their points. The cooldown on ALL abilities now makes having more than one ability pretty unnecessary in most circumstances.
One thing you may want to know is that the helmet from armors isn't removable. So if you use an armor that includes a helmet, it'll stay on during dialogues and all. Most people feel it's a little annoying to not be able to see your face, so just giving you a heads-up there before you get out on missions. *Dialogue options* You'll see it a bunch of times in the dialogue wheel, that dialogue options shift positions. It's a bit of an annoyance if you just go in a particular order you'll end up picking an option you've already chosen because the dialogue option that you wanted to pick has shifted to an option you've already picked previously. Don't feel bad about that; it's not your fault the game does that. *Illusive Man* Just FYI, The Illusive Man has gotten its own abbreviation from the ME-fanbase. You may see it referenced in your comments every now and then. Tim = The Illusive Man I know, I didn't come up with it but apparently it stuck, because everyone calls him Tim now. *Skills* Not sure if you've noticed, but the "Operative" skill in your new "skill tree" also gives you Paragon bonuses. That way your Paragon bar will fill up faster. You're currently getting a 40% bonus on Paragon points due to your skills invested in that.
My 2 most favorite things to watch people play, Final Fantasy X ending and beginning of ME2. As someone else commented, collecting those reactions like pokemons. Also I move to vote new name for TIM (the illusive man) to from now on to be known as "The Illuminati Man" :D
This one first playthroughs i found where ash survived basicly no playthrough i seen of legendery edition got to see ash story or character growth post first game
My two favorite classes for ME2 and 3 are the infiltrator and the vanguard, but for very different reasons. The infiltrator plays so different from the vanguard... the infiltrator works by eliminating enemies from big distances, being systematic, calculating how you will do more damage... the vanguard starts similarly but as it improves and levels up, it changes completely. A full grown up vanguard goes with the shotgun, charging in the frontline without thinking twice and obliterating everything in sight with the shotgun, then using biotics to go back to safety, OR, charging and using biotics to break through the enemy lines, then using the shotgun to destroy the remaining resistance. I love both classes SO MUCH, each one makes it feel like a completely different game, it's amazing. Very recommended to play a second time with the other class. Just to taste that kind of power.
One of my all time favorite game series (not counting Andromeda), I think I've finished them almost 10 times over, me1, 2 and 3 ofcs. Hope you enjoy it :)
ME3 is fantastic and I think in terms of emotions and "human" interaction is the best of the three but I think there's no doubt ME2 was the game that made ME the legend that it is.
Me watching a hundredth streamer trying to read the opening text aloud: "Don`t!... Don`t try it... Just read for yourself! Please... Oh no, she`s doing it.." 😤
Ok, when it comes time to play ME3, just read the title text silently to yourself. It’s so hard to make it through that while trying to annunciate the words.
Tactical cloak is your core ability as an infiltrator, and is a ton of fun. That said, because ability points get more expensive higher up the list, I recommend a balanced build.
My brother and my faces when his friend first played through this game earlier this year and she said she hoped nothing would happen to shepard the oh wait till she finds out from what I heard she cried
In retrospect it's odd that the collectors were on a kill only mission when they want all the humans they can get, so capture would seem to be preferable. But I guess it would be a short game if we lost immediately.
Tip: you don't need to be apprehensive about trying out harder difficulties. You can change the difficulty level up and down again as often as you like. Tip 2: if you wanted to change Shepard's eyebrows etc, you could have made a note of the character creation ID code from ME1, and then started a custom Shepard in ME2. Just input the code and then make any other adjustments you want. (Too late for this playthrough, obviously, but something to bear in mind for the future.) Anyway, welcome back to the world (galaxy?) of Mass Effect!
Excited to see you experience something fairly unique. Hopefully you play a few videos ahead or have mods in the comments mass effect fans are a over zealous lot heavy handed with lore and will often give 3 games worth of exposition and lore in the first 5 minutes of a new player picking up the first game 😂 As for difficulty this is a dialog story driven game there is no need to max out the difficulty level as much as some may fuss about it, it has 0 effect on the experience it's simply an ego boost for those that that kind of thing is important to.
We have the technology. We have the capability to make the galaxy's first zombie woman. Commander Shepard will be that woman. Better than she was before.
@@glenroberts9831 I don't disagree. The thing that really bugs me about Kaiden is that, unlike Jacob, he could have been far more interesting. His history as an L2 biotic could've been explored in the sequels. Also, remember his story about the Turkish girl he was in love with? Why BioWare hadn't explored that further in ME3 is beyond me.
We can rebuild her, we can make stronger, faster, better.... The 4 Billion dollar Shepard! Kaliwali, I don't recall if it is this game or the next one. But there maybe an option in the config screens to auto remove Shepards helmet during cut scense.
Cryo ammo is really amazing, maxing it out could give the rest of the squad Cryo ammo, too. But Operative is probably the most important to max out first, if only because of the paragon/renegade bonuses.
@@kaliwali In ME1, it's probably better to lean towards *more* powers because you can throw them all, back-to-back, to overwhelm your opponents. (Especially if you're a Biotic.) In ME2, the cooldown applies to EVERY power: you have to cooldown to use any power now, instead of that power again. So I would advise you to build up your Class power to its max first, so you can evolve it to its highest, then work on your best skill to *its* highest (I'd assume Tactical Cloak). And don't be afraid to hang onto points so you can get there; you are best off saving to buy your 3rd or 4th upgrade vs spending a point to get some weaker power. ALSO some squadmates have ammo too; I would recommend you evolve some to have squad ammo, some to have the max personal ammo, so you can take one with you with squad for one other character, and the other can use his/her best ammo... that way everybody has some special ammo, and you have two different ammos so you can be a bit versatile with it. I would strongly urge you to seriously consider not upgrading your squadmates' talents at all beyond their class ability until you've really filled out your team, so that you can make informed decisions about who you like and what powers you want to boost. Bottom line, I think planning out your powers/talents was important in ME1 but much more so in ME2 because you have fewer, and the game is so stingy with buying upgrades.
@@SchulzEricTCryo/Disruptor ammo are passives, so no cooldowns. Same goes for Operative. Which leaves us with Incenirate, Cloaking, and AI hacking. Cloaking is already unlocked. She only needs 6 points in total to unlock both Incenirate and AI hacking, and in my experience (playing on Insanity), that's the way to go.
@@Rapunzel879 Yeah, having three powers with two passive ones is useful, but she's already got ammo (disrupter?) and cloack unlocked by default; I'd level up Infiltrator completely and "settle" for the 1st level of ammo and cloak while I worked on that. And by the time she's got Infiltrator fully evolved, she'll have been able to use some tactical cloak, some ammo, and decide which she wants to work on first, get fully evolved first. Or if she wants to work on both, that's cool... the leveling system allows for a bit of balance, if you don't want to squirrel away all your points. But getting your class fully evolved should always, IMO, be your first priority: it affects all your basic stuff, including helping to boost your paragon/renegade stuff, which is honestly the most important part: if you die in battle, you can simply do better next time. If you miss something in dialogue because you don't have a high enough charm/intimidate, it's gone forever. (And with the way the new powers work, where you evolve at the highest level, I'd rather have full in one talent and just 1 point in another, than three of four slots full in those talents.)
The infamous ME2 cold open might be the biggest curveball that any game has ever thrown at me. It's like "I heard you really liked the first game and everything in it...Well, let's just throw all of that out of the airlock!" 😄

I love that you have thrown yourself into playing practically all of the best RPGs and story-games of the last 15 years. What a wild ride!
So true...

@@adventofknowledge
No, the opening was all about character respec and replacing the Normandy.
Well… I'd say that watching the Master Chief falling from space to Earth in Halo 3 could rival it.
Bioware can't always make the landings, but they never fail the launches, lol. I love the gut punches they give you in the intros.
Woho! 🥳 HERE WE GO!! So excited for this one ❤👊 When I played Mass Effect first time, I had to wait 28 months for ME2 to arrive. Glad I didn't have to wait that long between your episodes😄
Welcome back in! This is such an intense first episode 😂😅 I'm very much looking forward to this game after that kind of opener phewwww
Best trilogy ever. You wont regret it, - its gonna be lot more emotional in the next weeks :)
You've quickly become one of my favorites who play this game, your interactions and thought processes are really great! Love listening to your theories and input.
My tip for this game: this game is much more action-oriented with less RPG elements, and it is definitely a cover-shooter.
Looking forward to it!
Welcome back! I'm so glad you're loving this trilogy through my eyes
Also:
"What was his name? Shadow Man? Illu-shus Man?""
Hmm. Illucius Malfoy. LOL
Great start!!! The series get better and better, you'll love it!!!
You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into 😁
I'm realizing this very quickly lol
@@kaliwali- I'm getting my popcorn ready for the Suicide Mission... 🤭😈
@@TokenBlackman7 at this point this might be a spoiler :x
@@TokenBlackman7wth is this comment? You're already trying to spoil the game for her?
Thank you for this amazing comment! I'm glad you enjoyed my first episode of ME2 as much as I did :)
You can map your abilities and your teammates abilities to the top bar which are hotkeys. It helps alot during combat, and you can swap them using the Shift menu
Was about to post that. Also I don't know why but 90% of people i see playing mass effect doesn't know about the existance of "Q" "X" and "E" keys
I love your playthrough! Keep 'em coming!
I am so excited right with you. Watching your first playthrough, after my many, is like all new. You are in for a treat and I can't wait to see more of your reactions. Thank you for playing one of my all time favorite series.
Welcome in & I hope you enjoy the game through my eyes! ❤️
30:46 girl there was a brow style slider at 30:30 how did you miss that? lol
Welcome back in! I'm so happy you're enjoying this amazing trilogy through my eyes 🥰😱 I'm loving my time in it so far!
That's one of the best (the strongest) beginnings in the history of gaming :D
just to make it simple...The Alliance refers to the all the countries of Earth coming together to fight the turians in the 1st Contact War.
I do have some small, simple advice:
“Save often, and in different slots.”
Super excited for this playthrough, hope you enjoy :)
If you have a trusted mod/friend who has played the game before might be worth checking what order to do some of the DLC's - they're scattered in the vanilla game and some are best left till after the standard game completion.
Good luck commander!
Ooo thank you for the heads up! I hope you enjoy this play through! ❤️
Just found your channel and settling in to see what it's like. Here's hoping you enjoy this game as much as I did.
Always enjoyable watching someone start ME2 for the first time 😂😂😂!!!
It's always a stream of WTFs and OMGs! Looking forward to your reaction to the next part.
Back to watch this a year later and all I have to say about this is that ME2 was pretty ballsy to kill your character at the very start of the game.
Welcome to ME2!!!
It was fun watching you play ME1 your ...very own way.
"It's like coming back to your favorite show!"
Meanwhile fans are going 😈
LOL
I will always admire the way that ME2 just immediately punches you right in the gut. Pretty bold decision, given that some players will have jumped right into ME2 without ever playing ME1.
BioWare said they wasn’t hold back any punches and delivered a banger of an intro and if it goes with most everything else, banger intro means banger series, your in for a treat, the series only gets better from here
The Lazarus project, an Easter egg to biblical times where Jesus revived Lazarus from the dead
@@KittyBoom360 well since it was originally DLC of course you can skip it but always felt it was nice trasinstion to ME3
@@Rkay421 Nice transition? I have some words...
[spoiler alert]
In Arrival, My Shep is forced to murder a colony of people to hold off the invasion to buy some amount of time that my Shep has no idea will make a difference, that some magical solution will come up during that time.
@@KittyBoom360 agree to disagree
@@Rkay421 That's totally cool. Everyone role-plays differently. Cheers.
I love how you react to the events that happen
Played ME1 when it came out always meant to play 2 and 3 but never got around to it… picked up trilogy played through one and am now working on very first playthrough of ME2 crazy opening cant wait to see where this goes!
You're gonna LOVE 2 and 3! I think 2 was probably my favorite but 1 will always have a special place in my heart too
That opening still gives me goosebumps and brings me to tears.
Such an intense beginning!
The cutscene where Cerberus physically rebuilds Shepard from the cellular level is still one of the best cutscenes I've ever seen to this day
Your timing couldn't be better. I literally just finished watching the final ME1 episode!
Let's goooo! Welcome back in! :)
58:56 - You missed one more audio log from Miranda, some credits, and an introduction to a mini-game that you should now get in the next area.
Sorry about that.”
I was absolutely convinced I had done something wrong, to the point where I quit to the dashboard and replayed the intro….only to get the same exact result.
I remember one of the ads for this game when it was first coming out. In big bold letters: "Shepard is Dead!" Yeah, that got my attention.
Well done on your first ME2 playthough. Don't shoot me people, just my opinion, but ME1, while I liked it, was far below ME2 and 3, so really looking forwards to your adventures. Thank you.
i'm loving ME2 so far! it definitely wouldn't feel so emotional/nostalgic if i didn't play ME1 first!

Ahhh, thank you for this breakdown!
I'm so glad I've been living under a rock because WOW
What an amazing opening to a game phewwww
*Important*
Watch for interactive mouse prompts during cut scenes.
I know this is 2wks late but…Welcome to Mass Effect 2! Strap in, it’s gonna be quite a ride.
Have a tissue box by your side cuz the further you progress in this series, the more emo it gets.
With this kind of beginning, I'm starting to feel the weight of this lol. I'll remember to stock up on some soft aloe tissues 😂
ME1 was a great game but they went all in with this game. It's easily top 3 of all time for me.
You passed right by the brow options in the character creator. They were under the hair tab
Ooo awesome info! Thank you for sharing it!
@@kaliwali You're welcome! And Yvonne also is the face model for Miranda. So Miranda looks and sounds like her.
Illusive Man is one of my favourite characters in the ME trilogy.
@@glenroberts9831 True, I just prefer to get in the habit of being ready from the start of a mission.
That purple armor is 🔥
One thing you may want to know is that the helmet from armors isn't removable. So if you use an armor that includes a helmet, it'll stay on during dialogues and all. Most people feel it's a little annoying to not be able to see your face, so just giving you a heads-up there before you get out on missions.
*Dialogue options*
You'll see it a bunch of times in the dialogue wheel, that dialogue options shift positions. It's a bit of an annoyance if you just go in a particular order you'll end up picking an option you've already chosen because the dialogue option that you wanted to pick has shifted to an option you've already picked previously. Don't feel bad about that; it's not your fault the game does that.
*Illusive Man*
Just FYI, The Illusive Man has gotten its own abbreviation from the ME-fanbase. You may see it referenced in your comments every now and then.
Tim = The Illusive Man
I know, I didn't come up with it but apparently it stuck, because everyone calls him Tim now.
*Skills*
Not sure if you've noticed, but the "Operative" skill in your new "skill tree" also gives you Paragon bonuses.

Infiltrator's saying: "Don't run, you'll only die tired."
Alternatively,: "any place, any time, our snipers can drop you. Have a nice day."
Outstanding 🤓🥸🧐👻 good job 👍
Man BioWare really knew how to start a game out with a bang.
One of my all time favorite game series (not counting Andromeda), I think I've finished them almost 10 times over, me1, 2 and 3 ofcs.
Hope you enjoy it :)
Arguably the best ME chapter out of 3. Hope you'll like it as much as us fans do) Thanks for the video!
ME3 is fantastic and I think in terms of emotions and "human" interaction is the best of the three but I think there's no doubt ME2 was the game that made ME the legend that it is.
have fun playing this game it's one of my favourites 😊😊👍👍
Me watching a hundredth streamer trying to read the opening text aloud: "Don`t!... Don`t try it... Just read for yourself! Please... Oh no, she`s doing it.." 😤
I saw someone get to the end once. Only once, though. There should probably be an Achievement for that!
LOL
You have to be an auctioneer to get all of it out in time.
Ok, when it comes time to play ME3, just read the title text silently to yourself. It’s so hard to make it through that while trying to annunciate the words.
🍿 here we go! 🙌🏽
Tactical cloak is your core ability as an infiltrator, and is a ton of fun. That said, because ability points get more expensive higher up the list, I recommend a balanced build.

In retrospect it's odd that the collectors were on a kill only mission when they want all the humans they can get, so capture would seem to be preferable. But I guess it would be a short game if we lost immediately.
Yes 🙌, mass effect 2! Game on Kali!
Mass effect 2 is the best from the franchise loved it played multiple times great gaming experience.
Enjoy!!
Here we go!!!
(Too late for this playthrough, obviously, but something to bear in mind for the future.)
Anyway, welcome back to the world (galaxy?) of Mass Effect!
The only way it would be a problem is if you're trying to achieve the insanity triumph. If you're not trying for it than explore away
@@girlinvt You mean the achievement? That's true. But Kali has already started on Veteran level, so that's not an issue here.
Excited to see you experience something fairly unique. Hopefully you play a few videos ahead or have mods in the comments mass effect fans are a over zealous lot heavy handed with lore and will often give 3 games worth of exposition and lore in the first 5 minutes of a new player picking up the first game 😂
As for difficulty this is a dialog story driven game there is no need to max out the difficulty level as much as some may fuss about it, it has 0 effect on the experience it's simply an ego boost for those that that kind of thing is important to.
I do have a mod reading comments ahead of me! I hope you enjoy my play through :) I'm really looking forward to this trilogy!
We have the technology. We have the capability to make the galaxy's first zombie woman. Commander Shepard will be that woman. Better than she was before.
I'm glad you told Jacob that you trusted him. Jacob's widely considered the best teammate in the trilogy.
I think of Jacob as ME2's Kaiden. I find him to be very bland and don't like the way they make Femshep interact with him. Just my opinion though.
lol
@@glenroberts9831
- SPOILER -
It was sarcasm; he's universally reviled, the most hated not just in ME2 but across the trilogy.
😅
Great job 🎉🎉🎉

We can rebuild her, we can make stronger, faster, better....
The 4 Billion dollar Shepard!
Kaliwali, I don't recall if it is this game or the next one. But there maybe an option in the config screens to auto remove Shepards helmet during cut scense.
Cryo ammo is really amazing, maxing it out could give the rest of the squad Cryo ammo, too. But Operative is probably the most important to max out first, if only because of the paragon/renegade bonuses.
Yess, the paragon/renegade bonuses look super important
@@kaliwali In ME1, it's probably better to lean towards *more* powers because you can throw them all, back-to-back, to overwhelm your opponents. (Especially if you're a Biotic.)
In ME2, the cooldown applies to EVERY power: you have to cooldown to use any power now, instead of that power again.
