    For the record, I own and use six different Kings Swags for my family. They have a place in the market and as such are great products for the price. The problem I have encountered is that the mass producing has highlighted problems. My mattress is not the described mattress you get. Each swag has different sized mattresses.
    Kings Deluxe Single Swag review, 12months on and I know I am going to be hated.
    Yes I have contacted Kings, Yes I know the price of it. Sorry but I need this to be known.

      Jay, The Swag is worth the money, you can easily upgrade the mattress and fix the sagging. But If you have the money I suggest a Crashpad, Darche or Rainger.

    I have been camping with tents. Am new to swags and testing out one that was gifted to me "Kings big daddy deluxe". Setup in the back yard and already see all the floors and design ussies in it, not to mention the leaks after a good seasoning. Started tents with a 4 man dome then graduated to 6 man instant popup Coleman. Have to say it has been awesome. packs the same size as a double swag but do have extra space needed for bedding e.g. self inflating mattress. Still love it. Setup[ and pack up is similar to a swag if you are pegging out ground sheet and placing a cover over the top (tarp or something like that to stop the frost). No issues with ventilation or condensation, can stand up to get changed, internal size is as a small bedroom.
    Only advantage I can see with a good water proof swag is potentially setup and take-down time, possibly stopping the glamping affect. Will let you know my experience as the idea for myself with the swag is 1 night stays and moving on compared to previous base camping. Will test all this winter (real camping season in Vic) lol.

      At the time of this video, I was going through mixed emotions. The swag is one of the best, with value for money, simple modifications can make them extremely useful.

    The Kings double deluxe 75mm mattress is currently $149 as at 9.6.22.
    I'm almost positive the other swag is dearer now, the double is around $600 give or take.
    If you can afford $500 to over $600 for a (double swag) good luck to you.
    But with prices absolutely through the roof atm in food power mortgage everything, no real wage increase for years (unless you're a politician mongrels) a $149 swag it is for me, with ocky straps, electrical conduit like a ctr rib or aluminum adjustable poles either side!
    Thank you for the review.
    Cheers

      Steve, Thank you for your reply.
      I have noticed that Kings has started to try and fix a lot of the issues they have had with their products, and yeah who can afford anything these days. I have not been on a trip in ages, Camped over a month ago and was only down the road due to the prices of fuel.
      The current climate is looking bleak for many things right now. When I made this review I was not in the best mind set and should make a updated one as this swag is still used by my son. I still have my Crashpad swag and it is amazing. But you do pay for it.
      If I was to do it again, I would buy the Kings swag, I have no hesitation at all. If it came down to it, I would have made it work. I am fortunate enough to be able to get the Crashpad and was going to actually upgrade to the Rainger RT1 swag, but the stocks are just not there. So I might stay with Crashpad.
      Thank you again for you comment. I do love hearing from everyone that watch the video.
      Cheers
      Dave

    Nice honest review, regardless of the saying "you get what you pay for" - you should at the very minimum be getting a mattress that fits the swag....
    I've noticed that the quality of Kings swags (big daddy included) have gone down since purchasing mine ~2016.
    Again, Kings have a great place in the market (being less than half of what a Crashpad is worth) but it all comes down to how often you want to use it & how long you want it to last.

    There's always drawbacks for going the povo' option, you get what you pay for.
    The 23Zero swags are great too, top quality, no sags, no leaks and very comfortable
    Thanks for the honest review 👍

      Exactly right. To be honest at the time, I had been disappointed with that specific swag. I should have clarified that Ryan still has his Kings single deluxe and does not have the same issues as what I have had.
      I have always wanted to try the 23zero swags and almost bought one before the Crashpad.

    Not a fan of the brand but after 3yrs of owning a big daddy deluxe swag, I'm still happy with it. Only issue I have is it's size. Im 6'1 and I bought it to be comfortable in but carrying it around is a pain. It takes up a fair bit of room and isn't the lightest of things. I've been looking at a crashpad single swag and stretcher for a little while now for an upgrade this year sometime but the price has put me off a little just at the moment as I want it but haven't had much time to get out and actually use it if I did get it. At the end of the day, if your only starting out or not out bush alot using it all, Kings is good for that due to the low price to buy it all and who cares if its used once or twice a year but if your out a lot in all kinds of weather and want to be comfortable, go with a more expensive brand such as crashpad, darche, Ranger etc cause what you may pay now, will pay off in the years to come when it's still in good condition and not in the bin long ago like some products by that cheap brand.

    • @DestinationOffroad
      @DestinationOffroad  3 роки тому

      Well said. Buying Kings to me is like testing the waters. You want to try camping but don't want to fork out which is understandable. I have to say, nothing has broken, things are cheaply made but haven't broken. But to have a mattress that doesn't fit the actual swag is not good enough.

  • @1Coolbanana
    @1Coolbanana 8 місяців тому +2

    Hey mate, just curious if you considered a Darche and if you compared it to the 23zero? Thanks for the review, I was thinking about getting one as a second swag when I want to travel light but thankfully for your review I wont waste my time. I usually use a Darche 1100 on a stretcher, nice to have the extra room but its big and heavy and hard to roll up for an old bloke.

    • @DestinationOffroad
      @DestinationOffroad  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi Legend, I had actually wanted the Darche, but at the time, I could not get anything. The Crashpad, was the only one I was able to buy at the time. Now that I have seen all the brands, I would easily rate any brand. We actually still use the Kings Deluxe and have been blown away with its quality. The Crashpad has had a few issues even though the price point. A simple self-inflating mattress would fix most of the issue and pegging down the sides seems to help the sag in the middle.
      Lately I have been testing the San Hima inflatable swag, but as small, light weight swag, I wouldn't recommend it either. To keep it light I would go either a Alton hammick and 3x3m tarp, with a Mozzie net. That I would love try myself.

    Had the same thing with the Deluxe single, my dad purchased one for himself for general/non regular use. Used it for the first time and walls were caving in and even worse with dew fall on them. We ended up getting a refund on it and we both have crashpad's now.

    After watching your video I decided to purchase a Kings Deluxe Single Swag. Useful as a motorcycle swag. After reading your video description I decided to read through the comments. not only is there a warning in the description but there is also admission in the video that people will not share your opinion. That alone is okay. Seeing you engage with your audience negatively after the fact shows you are pinking a fight and you brought it on yourself. I actually liked the video. Don't be Karen

    • @DestinationOffroad

      Hi there, I re-read the comments and replies that I have said over a year, and I do not feel I was negative with my replies. Yes I have admitted at the time I was not happy with a few things, but we still use the swag, as I state. I never engage with a audience in a negative way, I believe some of the comments are valid. Comparing the Kings to a more expensive brand is always going to bring constructive criticism and I will always respect that.
      Thankyou for liking the video.

      Maybe I should do a updated video to this one. I did mention things that did cause issues, simple modifications could fix it but I was able to upgrade. We actually still use this swag, my son has been using it for a few years now and loves it. Yes the price of a Crashpad is more, other brands are insanely priced for features. But I cannot say I have not been without issues with my Crashpad, I have snapped both poles during camping, waking at 3am in the middle of winter because the side poles snap for no reason isnt the best, I have had it leak during a massive storm where the Kings stayed dry.
