I’ve got a Smartwood Les Paul Studio with 490 and 498t PUPS in it and it sounds great but I’ve been contemplating throwing a Duncan P Rails in it and wiring it for Humbucker/P90/Single coil switching just because I want a p90 sound sometimes. Cool video and both pickups sound nice.

The cool thing is you did not sell the pickup after taking it out for the JB. Often people sell the old one after getting settled in with the new. Great video.

The larger pole pieces also compensate for the reduced volume of the Lighter Gauge Strings so they're very cool. I wish EMG made versions that you simply Plug in so you don't have to do Soldering

Isnt the hyper vintage only 8k output? You would need a anvil or chisel for the high output?

    So that's a studio standard?

I personally would not say better, rather just different. a very unique approach to a pickup design though. A JB is classic and is used on many rock and heavier albums that we might be familiar with, but as far as build quality and design the railhammer is a much more effective pickup. The rails help u get a tighter low end while the thicker magnets for the high strings help fatten leads. at the end of the day sometimes it comes down to the rest of the rig, but no doubt the railhammer is a great sounding reliable pickup
