Very helpful. I like the phrase "it's not that dangerous really, but be careful..." Sums up my entire life. You make the idea of picking one of those up very easy and thoroughly show it off. Good job lil homie
Bro! Your'e a life saver. Taking the CORE program online out in British Columbia Canada, gearing up for deer season. Im a first time hunter and purchased the CenterPoint 370 a couple weeks back. Woke up and set the thing up, simple enough. Wanted to see how the draw felt and loaded er. Thought i was doomed. Your video was quick easy and effective, keep up the good work. Thanks again.
The crossbow went together quickly and the general fit and finish is a bit above what I expected for the price. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx5B43Qabqt1HedUJyfEqxiwBCfaooIH52 The adjustable stock is a little loose. I had an issue when I tried to cock the bow for the first time with the safety on. The string set in the trap box, held just enough to build up enough tension to rip the string out of my hands when it let go. No significant damage was done, and once I got it sighted in, I wrecked a couple bolts by sending one straight down the shaft of the first. I'm holding ~2" groups at around 50 yards, and I'm not an expert by any means. Best part is that they supply all the replacements parts you may ever need
Thanks man! I knew that there had to be a way to do this - I ain't dry-firing! Going to have to try it out. Glad that you said "be careful"... I could imagine someone releasing the safety and slicing their figure off 😄
Damn bro how u figure this out. That’s great, now I don’t have to shoot it when I’m done hunting. Thanks for video kid! Gotta say ur vids are mostly better than the adult ones.
Thanks man ! I've always just shot the arrow before this. I was afraid of trying it without knowing if it would work or destroy the bow. 2 thumbs up brotha ! Cheers
This was hugely helpful. It was a very clear video. So many tutorials on UA-cam have terrible camera angles and are just unclear. This was perfect.Thank you.
Thank you for this video. My crossbow manual says to shoot my bolt into the ground! Sounded like a bad idea to me. I tried this on my Barnett Wildcat C5 and it doesn’t work. Have to fire off the bolt. As soon as I pulled back on the string it went back into safety and couldn’t get it to go into fire mode
You should also mention that the decocking is for certain bows, NOT all crossbows. This Sniper 370 that you show can be decocked and is designed to do so. NOT all xbows are designed this way.
Thank you so much for this video. My dads crossbow wont fire and the string is cocked im.gonna try this first befor i take it somewhere. If you have any suggestions please let me know
I have a old Barnett Commando i still cant get a new cable for😟 think its a commando 2 got it about 20 years ago wile stationed in Germany anyone who cam help guide me on how in the name of god to remedy this would be awesome. I live in Mass and their are no archery places anywhere close enough for my car to make it to.
Hey malikai thank you for your videos they are awsome. when I load my bow the string frays because of the tention is their anything I can do differently?
This generally is not a good idea. Crossbows with this style trigger are designed so the main string has a lot of downward force on the barrel/rail, induced by cam lean, so the string catches the back of the nock properly. The rope will create an opposite force against the string, and as you let it down with the rope, regardless of how slow you do it, the string can miss the cam track and derail the crossbow, which may result in similar damage that a dry fire does. As an archery tech I cannot stress enough to NOT do this unless the manufacturer says it's designed for this method, such as an Excalibur crossbow. But hey it's your bow, don't listen to me or the mfg's, break it and pay for the repair.
I just watched the video and it worked however you might want to mention not to wrap the cocking string around your hand. I made the silly mistake but luckily I just unrolled it off my hand. It did kinda hurt though. Pinched my skin
appreciate your vids on this 370...I just bought. I'll be putting it together this morning. New to crossbows and this looked like the best bang for the buck. looking into nocks now...assuming the half moon is recommended/fine
Almost lost my finger and almost dry fired my bow in the process doing this. when I was releasing the tension the hook on the right side slid in between the rail and my scope and became stuck and binded up resulting in the hook on the left side losing tension I panicked and was worried about it breaking loose and causing the hooks to slip completely, dry firing my bow and making a bad situation more dangerous. some how or another I got the cocker wrapped around my finger at 3/4 draw and the weight of the bow being at 3/4th draw was being held by my finger and I wasn’t able to release this tension due to the hook being binded up in the rail with the cocker supporting the weight of the draw and squeezing around my finger completely cutting off the blood flow for almost a minute and a half and at this point I was hollering for my wife while trying to figure out what to do to free my finger without having my wife in harms way just in case it was to dry fire once my finger was free. I used my free hand and grabbed the cross bow string and pulled it back enough to free my finger and was able to ease the string down to 1/4 draw before I let it go stopping the dry fire and managing to keep my finger for another day. I almost fainted at the sight of my shriveled light blue finger and the excruciating pain that came with blood flow being restored to my finger 45 mins later I am typing this and I believe my finger is broken or atleast fractured and it’s regained all blood flow and regained its shape size, and color other then it being extremely red and swollen still after a few ibuprofen and a lot of apologies and thank yous to the wife you can bet your ass I will carry a spare bolt and fire it off in the woods leaving the stand before I ever attempt some shit like this again. Don’t get me wrong I am very new to cross bows and you may think i made a mistake or did something wrong but I can say followed the video directions completely and watched it several times before attempting but either way it isn’t worth attempting it could definitely make things easier leaving the stand but if it’s not 100% safe it’s not even worth attempting especially when it’s a whole lot easier and safer to fire off a spare arrow there’s just far to much that could go wrong from damaging your bow to hurting yourself and things could have went way worse for me I can honestly say if it wasn’t for my wife I wouldn’t still have my finger and I could have got seriously injured if it dry fired on me with that being said if you have the balls to try this even after what you just read atleast make sure you have somebody there to help you incase of an emergency the first few times you attempt this and make sure they know what you are doing and how to help you if it comes down to that. My wife didn’t know what was happening or how she could help me at first luckily she stayed calm and calmed me down enough to fill her in on what to do. I’m very glad I didn’t try this in the stand like I was going to do originally tomorrow morning on my way back to the truck. I’ll still be out there in the morning trying my luck but you bet your ass I will shoot a 60$ broad head into the woods and never see it again before I ever try to decock a cross bow again. Long Island Fishing that’s exactly what I do with mine, I keep a cheap bolt and field point in my quiver and shoot it into the ground. Done that all bow season using the same bolt every time and never broke the bolt. Long as you dont hit a rock I guess you’ll be good.
only down side with that is if in your Ontario Canada its illegal to hunt anything that's not small game with a field point even if its just to decock the cross bow so if yall get caught its a huge ass fine

You have a bolt or more quiver. always carry a bolt with field point in your quiver. I carry one in my compound for small game while bow hunting. This is very dangerous I don't care who you are. A very good friend of mine almost lost half his thumb while discharging because he forgot to drop his thumb under the forearm of his crossbow this past fall. This method would surely damage your bow or hand in a hurry if you mess up. Do it right. Get an extra bolt and carry it with you in your quiver.
Myron Laidler if they do, they deserve what they get. The crossbow I have can’t be deckocked without the dry fire catch disable which means putting something on the flight track. Done it hundreds of times. You’re making a big deal of nothing, like the people that get upset when people on the internet don’t show their firearm is empty when cleaning/etc... just chill out. @@ViktoriousDead No big deal ,wouldn't want to see anyone injured doing what he does. And possibly damaging their x-bowand ruin their hunt till repairs can be made.If you read all comments on this thread there are testimonies that it has happened + it voids the warranty, just sayin...
I have had different Xbows for over a decade. This does not make any sense to me at all. If you make a mistake you can hurt yourself and /or your bow limbs. The reason you state for doing this is you don't have a bolt with a field point with you when you return to your vehicle after a hunt. What wrong with putting the bow into the vehicle and waiting to get home to de-cock the bow with proper gear. If your traveling and are an experienced hunter you have with you, TenPoint's CUB which is a biodegradable bolt you simply put together and fire at the ground or out into the woods. There are a number of other discharge solutions made by other manufacturers that accomplish the same thing. Your solution is not a good idea nor is it recommended by ANY Xbow manufacturers.
Yup cause everyone has $15 per hunt to shoot into the ground you’re the kind of guy who hunts 2 or 3 times a year that thinks he’s an expert and gets on the Internet to tell people how to do it but if you’re a to use your word experienced hunter who actually hunts you aren’t gonna shoot $450+ into the fucking ground every year that’s insanity but seeing your a ten point guy you probably do have money to blow now barnett makes a nice decocking bolt you’ll have for a very long time that’s like $25 one time but you can make your own for a couple bucks take an old bolt preferably a little longer one and about 2 1/2- 4 inches from the point (however far you can and it still fit your bow) wrap it with I use paracord and braid it on like making a lanyard (if you don’t know how look it up it’s simple) very tight so it’s very difficult for it to slide you can glue it to the shaft it you want too but if you cant so the braid you can just wrap paracord/string/ rope however you can just so it’s thick enough to prevent the arrow to go any deeper if it slides some that’s fine it will still stop it you could also do this with tape foam a combo of both anything you like so long as It’s at least a 1/2in diameter or more that is the best way to do it... what he does in the video is dangerous and you mess it up once maybe you’re exhausted after a hunt you could injure yourself however it’s not as dangerous as they'd have you believe you’d be fine 99.5% of the time but you know it’s the .05% chance you screw up (or are an idiot) that will always be brought up and unless there is a ZERO percent chance anything could go wrong every company in the world is gonna tell you not to do it and make it known they’re not responsible its comon sense is the people like this guy who sees billion dollar companies disclaimers and take it to a whole new level

Yeah I just keep 3 broads 1 feild in my quiver.... I like my crossbow...
Big garbage bad stuffed with old clothes packed tightly works fine!!
Pretty cool, but I bet a lot of people are about to dry fire their bows on accident. 😆
nick dick LOL! I hope not... but I guess if they don't follow the steps or do it properly there's always that chance
I nearly lost my finger! Listening to these fools! Catefull it does not work! Fire your cross bow better
Very helpful thankyou.
