Rocko’s Modern Life is one of those cartoons that gets better as you get older. Part of that is because of all the innuendos and jokes that flew over our heads when we were kids. This is also why so many people liked the Netflix rebootquel because it still captured the heart of the show while adding a modern spin to it. Also, people who thought the rebootquel was too political didn’t watch/remember the show.

I remember watching this on cable tv back around early 2000's, which would line up 2002 ish, so this much have been right before being banned. The good ol days, love Rocko's Modern Life. Great video!
You know what I JUST realized? The mating documentary she made Rocko watch. She is the same species as the toads in the video. That wasn't a documentary... That was a porno.
I remember watching this episode on Latin American Nickelodeon at night in the early 2010's and being mesmerized at all the insinuations. I don't know if it was because of the time or the fact that countries like Mexico where I saw it have different censorship standards but it was there and it was awesome.
One of the best adult jokes from this series was in the episode in which Rocko and Heffer went to Rocko's uncle's farm and Heffer insist on living with the other bovines. We get to see a stable hand attach a milking machine to Heffer, switches it on and Heffer gets some VERY revealing facial expressions as the machine starts milking him, eventually making him pass out in extacy, at the end of the episode, Heffer bids an emotional goodbye to the milking machine.
I do remember watching this episode when it aired, however I’m not surprised. It was my favorite show growing up so I almost never missed it when it was on!
Honestly I loved this episode a lot lol, definitely subtle adult humor at it's best lol. That is why Rocko's modern life is one of my favorite cartoons of all time.
Hey Shaun, have you thought about doing iconic episodes of Rocko's modern life yet? I would love to see your take on it. Wolfe, Turkey time, and Floundering Fathers. I would like to see you review these episodes, they are pretty classic and memorable! Keep up the good work shaun!

There are so many good nicktoons on Paramount+! CatDog, The Angry Beavers, Jimmy Neutron, Hey Arnold. The list keeps going too! Thanks for watching my video! I appreciate your support. :)
@@harbycolonelmiles omg i actually ended up binging aaah real monsters a couple weeks ago!! i did end up liking it yes! ive been on the fence about watching ren and stimpy because of the creator of the show but maybe someday.
Yeah, the creator is a little off the rails. Angry beavers is another one that's enjoyable. I remember a few things about it, and one of those was that the art style and voice acting is really fitting and good. I remember their voices vividly
If you haven't already, I recommend watching Hey Arnold. I swear I will never not cry to the Pigeon Man episode, but that whole series (newer movie included) imo is one of the best nick toons that ever aired
I like the one where Rocko is unemployed and trying to find a job and picks 'phone operator'. The note on the wall behind him and the fact he was trying to talk dirty with someone only to learn it was Mrs Bighead was hilarious 😆
These were very clever innuendos. I seen them as a kid when they first aired and they went over my head 😆 Good thing these episodes aren’t banned on the series dvd i bought . I read that the animators at the time would purposely see how many adult jokes they could sneak in , since they had little supervision at the time . But now a days they are watched very heavily . Ah, I miss those days when cartoons and weren’t dumbed down.
Not only do I remember seeing this when it originally aired, but it's on my vhs tape of recorded Rocko episodes from the '90s that I still have to this day.
I absolutely loved this episode it never failed to make me laugh when I found it around the net on a piracy website. I was sadly 2 when this aired so I don’t remember if I did watch it or not. I probably did though cause my mom used the television as a babysitter when she needed a break from me and my siblings.
It really only aired a Nickelodeon twice?!? Cuz I remember watching this episode vividly, and though it did disappear, I swore I watched it more than just twice.. especially considering how well I remember it.. so that might just be because of how impactful it was to my young developing mind..
I remember seeing it back when it aired for the first time on Nickelodeon back in September 1993. It was indeed banned after the broadcast. There’s a banned episode from 1994 as well.
I love that show as a kid, and I’m happy to say that I definitely saw this episode back then. In fact, I could have sworn I saw it a bunch of times, so if it only aired twice, I must have seen it both times. Nice to know I saw it before the censors got it. It was a great episode, but I also understand why they pulled it after two airings. Rocco’s Modern Life might be why I think most shows are garbage now. 🤔
Great video! Brief and to the point. A lot of these cartoon reviews run on past their welcome, like you were saying with Spongebob and The Walking Dead.
I saw this episode when it aired, and again after its next showing. When I didn't see it again, I just thought it had become a rare showing. You know, like Darkwing Duck with broken legs episode. Those golden episodes that are so good that they put every other episode to shame, so they don't show them more than once or twice. Years after my last viewing, I was surprised at the high pitch of Rocko's voice. This particular episode was one of those, eye catchers for me. I was distracting myself until the Spanish fly, not saying what I was doing, and then I was just focused, and for ten minutes I'm glued to the TV.
It's so weird because I absolutely remember this episode (some of the gags played out on video exactly as I remembered them, the VHS player gag in particular is one I have never been able to forget), but when it got banned I was only 4. Either my local station accidentally played this episode one day years later, or Rocko's comedy is so iconic that it got seared into my 4 year old brain. I'm going with the brain searing.
Rocko's Modern Life was a product of The Simpsons era comedy! Slapstick, rude jokes, and insinuated adult humor with a no-bars-held attitude. Definitely not stuff that would be allowed today in the same context it was, but still fun to reminisce about~
Yep I saw it back when it first aired, right on the day of my sixth birthday, I was of course too young to get the adult humor, I just saw it as another funny episode, and I remember being disappointed that they stopped airing it after a while, I didn’t see it again until someone posted it on UA-cam over a decade later.
i saw this episode when it aired on TV as a kid the 90's. It was definitely more than once. Maybe i had it on VHS tape. All the adult jokes went over my head but it was always one of my favorites. Re-watching it as an adult, it's even more hilarious! I often think "wow if this show aired on adult swim now instead of the 90's it would be an even bigger hit!
I remember this episode when it aired! Omg! I never missed an episode of Rocko as a kid and I didn’t really get it back then, because I was 7 years old, but now I understand 😂😂
I definitely watched this episode when it was on the air, but of course its re-runs were cut short and it was an episode I wondered why stopped airing. I know about the banned episode and when people asked me to describe the plot people were surprised I was accurate and telling the truth. For the record I was born on 1990, and yes was a 90s kid.
I definitely recall having seen this episode as a child...on Nickelodeon. I must have managed to catch it in one of those first few airings before it was taken down. I always watched the Sunday morning episode, which must have been when new episodes were revealed.
I can't believe it only aired twice I remember the episode so vividly like I watched it several times that's crazy I'm 33 years old.😯 Definitely gotta give the series a rewatch cool vid
I was at the age where I could pick up on some those jokes. I didn’t get the GRAVITY of them sometimes, but they were acknowledged. I LOVE this show. I still to this day have a replica button up. And plus… the soundtrack slapped. Lmao 🤣
I remember watching this episode several times when I was a kid (and even when I was a teenager on nick at nite reruns), kinda weird to find out it is banned... apparently it wasn't banned in Mexico's nickelodeon, which is what I watched growing up. Of course I didn't get the jokes until I got older
I do remember seeing this episode a few times, but I definitely did notice when they took it out of rotation. The one where Heffer stays with Rocko and has a nudist party got the same treatment.
You know, most of that episode went under the radar until you mentioned getting the plates ready… for some reason, that image was definitely still alive in the back of my long term memory bank

I watched Rocko's Modern Life when it originally aired (huge fan, second favourite cartoon of the time, after Ren & Stimpy). Love ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE. Have the whole collection on DVD. I'm 76 years old. My first Rocko catoon that I saw on TV was A SUCKER FOR THE SUCK-O-MATIC. When they showed the dog minus balls on the control panel, I lost it. Been a fan ever since... THANKS FOR POSTING
I remember watching this on cable tv back around early 2000's, which would line up 2002 ish, so this much have been right before being banned. The good ol days, love Rocko's Modern Life. Great video!
I'm not sure when it aired on New Zealand television in the 90s, but I definitely remember seeing this episode, it was pure mature humour to me.
Rocko's modern life is so cool, i loved all the episodes. It's not gross to me, the humour is amazing.
The episode about ed neglecting bev made me cry as an adult.
Poor bev
Yeah I felt so sorry for her
you can get it
Yes
how is she poor? she assaulted rocko , he clearly didn't want to cheat with her
@@lillysparrow I understand that bit and it was wrong
Yet I only felt sorry for her when it came to her and Ed.
You know what I JUST realized? The mating documentary she made Rocko watch. She is the same species as the toads in the video.
That wasn't a documentary...
That was a porno.
Yup. Even at 10 years of age 30 years ago, I knew this.
I remember watching this episode on Latin American Nickelodeon at night in the early 2010's and being mesmerized at all the insinuations. I don't know if it was because of the time or the fact that countries like Mexico where I saw it have different censorship standards but it was there and it was awesome.
That episode with Heffer being a nudist isn't from Season 4. It's from Season 1, like the carnival one you showed before that.
I forgot about this episode but watching those clips was like I'd seen them hundreds of times.
That was awesome, I need to rewatch this whole series.
Charlie Adler is still one of the best things about this show. His voices are enough to make me laugh for days
I love the show Rocko's Modern Life that was part of my childhood it will never be another show like that for many years to come
One of the best adult jokes from this series was in the episode in which Rocko and Heffer went to Rocko's uncle's farm and Heffer insist on living with the other bovines.
I was like 25 before I realized the humor of that restaurant being named Chokey Chicken. 😂
I don't get it
Sierra s that is awesome
@@danschuster5187 “Chokey Chicken” was a variant of “Choking the chicken”, a euphemism for [fap-fap-fap].
Hey Shaun, have you thought about doing iconic episodes of Rocko's modern life yet? I would love to see your take on it. My favorite episodes are Who's for dinner, I have no son, Snowballs, cruisin' communed sentence, sugar frosted frights, fortune cookie, maniac mechanic, short story, eyes capade, wacky deli, the big question/ the big answer, scrubbin' down under, pranksters, Zanzibar, from here to maternity, with friends like these, heff in a hand basket, Ed good Rocko bad, teed off, Wimp on the barby, driving mrs. Wolfe, Turkey time, and Floundering Fathers. I would like to see you review these episodes, they are pretty classic and memorable! Keep up the good work shaun!
so i binged this show only recently (it was on a before my time) and somehow it works so well watching as an adult. the cast being all adults helps a ton too! it actually made me insanely happy when i found out rocko was in his 20s like me. btw as someone who has paramount+, is there any other nicktoons you'd recommend to watch?
There are so many good nicktoons on Paramount+!
CatDog, The Angry Beavers, Jimmy Neutron, Hey Arnold. The list keeps going too!
Thanks for watching my video! I appreciate your support. :)
Definitely AAAH real monsters, if you like strange, weird, and slightly uncanny then ren and stimpy is good for you
@@harbycolonelmiles omg i actually ended up binging aaah real monsters a couple weeks ago!! i did end up liking it yes! ive been on the fence about watching ren and stimpy because of the creator of the show but maybe someday.
Be Hot Be Naughty Be Courteous
These were very clever innuendos. I seen them as a kid when they first aired and they went over my head 😆 Good thing these episodes aren’t banned on the series dvd i bought . I read that the animators at the time would purposely see how many adult jokes they could sneak in , since they had little supervision at the time . But now a days they are watched very heavily . Ah, I miss those days when cartoons and weren’t dumbed down.
The part where the fan just spontaneously decide to give Bev some hands too at 6:54 will forever get me.
I definitely remember watching this episode as a kid but had no idea that it was later banned. Very interesting video!
I think you did a great job with this video and the Ren and Stimpy one too!
This is so underrated! This channel is very underrated.
Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate your support. :)
I like to think it more as "undiscovered". Just a matter of time, for sure.
Not only do I remember seeing this when it originally aired, but it's on my vhs tape of recorded Rocko episodes from the '90s that I still have to this day.
I remember it as clear as day!!! You never forget that episode! You sure Nickelodeon only airred it twice?
I was afraid you were going to show an episode i missed out on, but i definitely saw this one as a child. Good times.
Not all
Great video! Brief and to the point. A lot of these cartoon reviews run on past their welcome, like you were saying with Spongebob and The Walking Dead.
the episode with the elevator is still available on prime, but they still wont allow the France episode for some reason
Sorry not prime, paramount
I definitely saw this episode as a kid, in fact, I’m pretty certain I saw all the episodes live as they came out. Funny stuff
Definitely not stuff that would be allowed today in the same context it was, but still fun to reminisce about~
I watched this episode when it aired on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Network) at some point when I was a kid in the 1990s at some point.
Bev has the best voice actor on the whole show. The tone and volume that person had to react must have been crazy
Charles Michael Adler. Bev Bighead was always the funniest for me, too.
man, I genuinely remember this episode. looking back, there wasn't anything outrageous compared to other episodes.
Excelent video bro!! I had not watched this episode!
Yes yes yessss Rocko stayed consistent
I remember seeing this episode on TV when I was a little kid. I didn't really understand it back then but I never forgot about it.
I remember this episode when it aired! Omg! I never missed an episode of Rocko as a kid and I didn’t really get it back then, because I was 7 years old, but now I understand 😂😂
I wish they wouldn't have banned the milk machine scenes on DVD from Rocko's modern life. That was funny as hell.
I remember watching this back in 93…I was 8 years old lol
Me too. I was 10!
I loved the frog mating documentary. "Frank, get AWAY from me" 🤣
Oh yeah, I remember the episode fairly well. I loved this show and really miss the good and fun writing.
Leap Frogs was the one that was banned?!?! YAY! SO thrilled to be one that could actually catch it on tv before the ban!!!!
Fuck yeah, that was one of my favorite episodes!
I definitely recall having seen this episode as a child...on Nickelodeon. I must have managed to catch it in one of those first few airings before it was taken down. I always watched the Sunday morning episode, which must have been when new episodes were revealed.
I can't believe it only aired twice I remember the episode so vividly like I watched it several times that's crazy I'm 33 years old.😯 Definitely gotta give the series a rewatch cool vid
i have the complete series of this show and I love it! this show never gets old.. I even collected the comic books series of this show also
I was at the age where I could pick up on some those jokes. I didn’t get the GRAVITY of them sometimes, but they were acknowledged. I LOVE this show. I still to this day have a replica button up. And plus… the soundtrack slapped. Lmao 🤣
I'm so happy, I have the show without the bans. I really love every episode but the most with the Bigheads. They're hillarious!!!
I remember watching this episode several times when I was a kid (and even when I was a teenager on nick at nite reruns), kinda weird to find out it is banned... apparently it wasn't banned in Mexico's nickelodeon, which is what I watched growing up. Of course I didn't get the jokes until I got older
The episode where Heffer moves in with Rocko and the nudist jokes aired in season 1 not in 1996 it may have aired during that time but it was a rerun
Rock's car being impounded and the guy says "the others call him fancy fenders... term of endearment i'm sure..."
I saw this back in 2001 on Sky Television.....I was 25 at the time, years not months! The whole series is just spot on!
I've watched this episode on UA-cam before when I was like 14. I wasn't born until 2000 but I still watched A LOT of 90s shows as a kid
Was lucky to see this before the ban hammer. Loved this show, watched it all the time as a kid
I vaguely remember watching this one when it originally aired, yes, and it’s also one of my favorite episodes.
The phone sex operator segment was also wild as hell.
I remember an episode where heffer was at a farm and a milk machine on him…but he’s a dude… and he had a grin insinuating it was put on the wrong part
I do remember seeing this episode a few times, but I definitely did notice when they took it out of rotation. The one where Heffer stays with Rocko and has a nudist party got the same treatment.
You know, most of that episode went under the radar until you mentioned getting the plates ready… for some reason, that image was definitely still alive in the back of my long term memory bank
i loved the bermuda triangle episode when i was growing up. really i dont think i saw any episodes i personally didnt like but the bermuda triangle one stood out
I liked the one that had Rocko's house redecorated
Every room was a bathroom
I watched Rocko's Modern Life when it originally aired (huge fan, second favourite cartoon of the time, after Ren & Stimpy). But I'm from New Zealand, which you state as a country that banned it early. Too much time and too many beers have passed for me to confirm or deny whether I saw this 28 years ago. I'm going to guess no, I never saw this air on NZ television, it seems like something I would remember (like Ren & Stimpy Space Madness, Log song, Don't Piss on the Electric Fence, etc).
