- Here are my first impressions on the Rogue Monster lite competition bench for your home gym. In this video I discuss the footprint, the strength and stability of this competition bench, as well as other factors. Is this competition bench from Rogue a good option for your home gym? If space constraints are a factor, I think this competition bench is a good fit.
😂 discussing the economics of going the fb marketplace route for the bench including the gas. You are the best, Marcus. The bench looks awesome! Having a dedicated bench station is a personal dream of mine.
Thanks Phil! I appreciate ya!
Nice! What a great deal!
Yes it was!
Great review! Have been curious about this bench since it dropped. Will keep it in mind.
Glad it was helpful!
I like it! There's something to be said for a dedicated setup, especially if it allows you to train like you compete. Getting it brand new for more than half price makes it a no-brainer! Good stuff brother!
Thanks brother!
Love the addition. Your setup is really nice, especially for your space. And you'll love the fat pad. I felt like I didn't need it or even want it, but when I invested in a flat bench I got one and it is awesome! You could also save up for more slim spotter arms that don't take as many holes on your competition bench so you don't have to adjust the weight horns. I have the surplus strength ones on order. Oh and love the shirt!
Thanks Todd! The pad arrived today, so I’m looking forward to installing it and using it. I considered different spotter arms, but I moved them down 1 hole and it should work there to still protect me. I’ll test and see. The stray dog arms are choice!
Great score and a great addition!
Thanks Brother
Congratulations on your find. I use the rogue monolift, which is great in the rack with a competition bench.
Thanks John and it was a consideration especially with Jose having that setup. However, I’m afraid of becoming dependent on that and then doing miserably with self hand-off at meets.
@twistedbarbell3950 I tore my labrum out of the rack, so this setup lessens that for me. Good luck with your upcoming competition. You seem to be progressing very well.
@@Herr2Cents sorry to hear that and hope your healing well. Thanks 🙏
THANK GOD for a review of this bench
Happy to help
Great video. I remember this listing. I was surprised it took so long to move, and I've always been surprised these aren't more common on gym tour videos.
Thanks and cool you’re familiar with it. I’ve seen a few great items, but most of which I already have, otherwise I would have snatched them up.
@@twistedbarbell3950 Back injuries and relocation lead to many good deals.
It’s Nice to have a stand alone Bench if you have space
Agreed, definitely a luxury
Very nice. If I had the space I’d go for that or the 4-post version for sure. Looking forward to a Rep-One sensor review. Been in the fence on buying that for a while now.
Thanks John
For the slick bench pad, you can grab some kitchen drawer liner and wrap around the pad to get some grippiness. If you want an official gym and nicer option, look up One Strong Herd. I have their Backbone mat on one of my bench pads and it grips and sticks almost as well as my Thompson Fat Pad.
Appreciate the suggestion but I already have the Rogue competition pad on it.
@@twistedbarbell3950did switching to that not increase the height and get it out of IPF specs?
Nice setup! If you’re hesitant on drilling new holes Rogue has weight horns that use a pin that attaches through the front holes. I have them on my squat rack and definitely a lot more adjustability and no tools needed.
Thanks Jose!
Nice review, Marcus. All the best to you, Sir
Thanks, you too!
I have one and for my space it works perfectly. A four would be sweet but I would run into the same issue you would had. Worth every penny IMO.
Agreed and thanks for chiming in Daniel!
What a great find on FB my guy!
Thanks Hugh
That extra 2" width is nice, for elbows to clear the spotter arms. Otherwise, safety straps ... and 4 posts.
Exactly
Love the bench
Thanks
Perfect score.
Thanks
It looks good in your space and you got a good deal!
Thanks man!
Great find! I would have guess it was stable due to the bench being physically attached and the weight of the person would add stability. I bench on the front of my 6 post rack and squat inside, so my spotter arms never move.
Hey Mark, true, but my concern was with respect to the two uprights with no additional cross member and the bar often hitting unevenly when reracking. I was worried about them shifting forward or back, as well as towards each other, but that’s not the case at all
Getting closer to Basement Brandon everyday 😂
I wish, but I’m a LONG way off🤣
Can you share the brand of black calibrated plates that you are using now? I see they have the color coded ring around them. Look really nice.
Hey Rich, they’re not actually calibrated plates, but rather Rogue’s Olympic plates. They’re pretty accurate in weight, but not calibrated. I added the color coding myself by using 3/4” electrical tape around the perimeter to help me acclimate to the color coding when using calibrated plates.
I don't think I could ever sell my Echo Bike, but it does take a lot of space up
You like torture 😃
Jealous. Like you said, and others below, would love a 4 post with safety straps. Alas no room for either of these options. But no complaints, love my rack.
Thanks Gavin
Are you able to pull out the bench to squat as well?
No and that's how it differs from a squat rack. The comp bench has the bench mounted to a cross member between the two uprights and it's all fastened together with screws and bolts. The cross member would also interfere with your foot placement when trying to get under a bar, even if you removed the bench.
@ hey thank you for the response. I appreciate it, brother.
in my dreams
😂
New rack needs a new bar... just saying
🤣almost pulled the trigger on that Hansu bar Brandon posted on IG! Gotta reign it in though!
@@twistedbarbell3950 but im trying to reign it in also. I already have a rogue SS OPB with cerakote sleeves, and the rep SS DBD.
