Have the Compaq 750US. It stopped suddenly when updating and cleaning. All of a sudden I got a white screen with a little zipper symbol. Powered it down. Now it will not restart. Just keeps cycling the fan on, shuts down, cycles fan on, shuts down. Refuses to boot. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Well It was not intended for gaming. And I didn't buy it. It was a gift. If it was something I actually had a say in, I wouldn't have gotten it. Would instead have a Laptop specifically for gaming. File it under;; reasons I don't like surpirses. Anyway, I'd probably never have the money or know how to build a PC for gaming... I mean I have to stretch 10 CupNoodles over 2 weeks before I can get more. That and Laptops are portable. PC... not so much. XD
I checked the health of the drive. It's in great shape. Only about half a year of runtime, and no bad sectors/reallocations/etc.

The SSD will work fine. This laptop uses DDR2, not DDR3. 667MHz or 800MHz should work fine, with a maximum of 2GB per slot.
