A Bigsby alternative?? The Vegatrem VT2 Teletrem classic

- The electric guitar started a worldwide musical revolution thanks to Leo Fender and his two creations: the Telecaster and the Stratocaster. Now, 7 decades after the launch of these iconic guitars, VegaTrem closes the circle by creating this vibrato for Telecaster: the VegaTrem VT2 Teletrem, the tremolo that grants the T-style using not much more than a pair of screws and a screwdriver… And obviously, with maximum respect to the original design, in case we change our mind and want to revert to the Telecaster bridge in the future, our guitar will recover its usual appearance.
This is, once again, a revolutionary creation, since the Telecaster was conceived, 70 years ago, as a fixed bridge guitar and without space for a vibrato. The solution was to take advantage of the 6 holes that cross the body of the guitar from the bottom to the top, and place some springs that would allow the classic tremolo movement and, at the same time, enrich the tone and sustain without getting out of tune. This new tremolo/vibrato with its very own VegaTrem tuning stability, expands the future musical possibilities of this legendary guitar.
I want to thank VegaTrem for providing this unit for this review!

Thanks for this - nice one! Certainly works for me - will be grabbing one in the near future.
✌🏻❤️
Sweet playing...very nice
Many thanks!!
I use the VT1 and love it. Didn't even know the Tele version existed: cool !
Well now you know ✌️❤️
It looks amazing on a Tele Jon and I`m sure a lot of Tele players will now have a Big smile on their face 🎸🎸
✌️❤️
This is a great demonstration, and the installation portion of the video is very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Jon you have an incredible talent playing guitar. I could listen to your music all day. Thank you for sharing
Ditto 👍👍💯
Thank you Dan✌️❤️
Awesome playing … especially the little lead break.
Thank you✌️❤️
Exquisite tone and beautiful, sensitive touch! I love the way you play. The tremolo seems to keep pitch well without a lot of tugging on the strings. I think for subtle shaping of notes and chords it would work well.
Thank you very much!
Superb phrasing and tone, always
Thank you kindly!✌️❤️
Excellent and clear demonstration of the installation. Thanks for that Jon. Definitely looks like a brilliant idea for a tele retro fit and other than the two new screw holes, which would be covered by the original bridge, completely and easily reversable.
Yep!!✌️❤️
Making that Squire sound amazing Jon! Great video. Thanks
My pleasure ✌️❤️
That's what I was hoping for ..wow vega trem does it again. Great review and playing always.
Glad you enjoyed it!✌️❤️
oh wow i didnt knew that this excists. Would be a nice mod for my 60´s vibe Squier Tele. I just installed a Duesenberg Les Trem on my Epiphone SG Modern and i´m absolutely happy with this modification ✌
Nice!!!✌️❤️
excelent demo video and great playing !
Glad you enjoyed it
Perfect 👌
✌️❤️
Wow Jon, that’s way cool! I’ve heard only good things about the Vega Trem systems. Thx for the informative and detailed installation! And of course, the wonderful playing!! Great demo!!
Thank you✌️❤️
Another fantastic video have a good weekend
Thank you! You too!✌️❤️
Sweet. Good stuff J. 😎👍👌💯🎸🎸
Thanks 👍✌️❤️
Vega Trem Made In Spain and used by the best out there. Thanks again mate Great Video and excellent presentation and wonderfull music as usuall. Steve in Australia
Glad you enjoyed it!✌️❤️
I’m now thinking of putting this on my fender tele! ❤
Watch my last live stream as I explained a little more on the trem✌️❤️
From your recommendation, I got the V-1 trem for my 80’s Strat. It’s just incredible! Stays in tune for ever and it just sounds good. Thanks Jon.
I’ll have to try this new on on my tele.
PS. They are a bit expensive, but this is one product that you get what you pay for.
David check out the live stream where I talked a bit more about the VT2
Thanks!
Thanks!!!
That’s some real out of the box thinking by Vega Trem Jon. Genius!!!
It came across really well and I’m very interested. One thing, it looks like the Trem bar could be about 3 cm longer for comfort and very slightly different angle. But it’s very effective as it is. Really fascinating Jon - thanks 👍👍👍😃❤️
Thank you Tom✌️❤️
Looks like an easy install, of course you are handy with tools. Results were great, awesome playing Jon ✌️🤩👍
On the contrary.. I’m lousy with tools lol
@@JonIsJustTooLoud 😆😂🤣
Wallets are MELTING as we speak....................... ;:)
Lol
Ciao grandissimo ❤
Ciao Matteo❤️
The little Bosch screwdriver is cool.
Lol
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I like tools about as much as I like guitars, it doesn't show does it
Thanks for the review!
Just for what it’s worth, locking tuners have nothing to do with tuning stability.
just makes changing strings faster...
Absolutely! @@JonIsJustTooLoud
Magic ! Very nice tremolo, We can ear Hank Marvin playing, wonderfull vibrato.
Many thanks!✌️❤️
This is the tone I like in this video great job! Dirty clean plexi tone and most important your personal touch in dynamics. Very inspiring man! This is the reason I subscribed to you. I have vegatrem vt1 on strat and have a question. Is it possible to have more aggressive diving on this vegatrem vt2 ? And another thing what string gauge was this on your telecaster? These days I'm really tight on my budget but next one I will buy you a coffee :)
Thank you!
Nice demo, thanks. The bridge seems to be intonanted very strangely with the E, A and D saddles in virtually a straight line and the G string saddle way back. I hear Vegatrem have a new version of this bridge coming soon that does away with the 2 extra screws.
We will see ✌️❤️
Wow that's awesome Jon. I can see that you're channel is also growing constantly with your helpful contents. Just wanna ask, will that fit on my Sire tele? God bless you ..
You have to check the measurements mentioned in the vegatrem website✌️❤️
Ciao Jon,Saluti dall'Italia 👋👋
Ciao ciao !!✌️❤️
I'm really happy with my VT1 for my Voodoo Strat. There's a guy on YT who said he was very disappointed with the VT2 when he had it installed on his Sire T-style. Seems like a lack of communication on VegaTrem's part. If he had only waited until your video came out. I just checked the VegaTrem site and it says there's a no-drill version of the VT2 coming out soon.
Thanks for sharing Mark ✌️❤️
Greetings Jon
That Tremolo seems a little stiff and not to expressive just by watching your video.
I love my DFV on my G&L Legacy Special. I think Leo created the best most simplest vibrato at G&L..
I love mine...
Hey Jon thanks for the videos. Keep up the good work.
Cheers!👋👍
Watch the video as I explained why this trem plays more like a bigsby ✌️❤️
Its the most rigid trem ive ever yanked. The V1 is so amazing so i was very bummed to drill into my tele for nothing. A bigsby is so much smoother. Ive tried to adjust 5 times and Vega even said its stiff by nature. They made a new version which is not drilled. stiff hard to bend.
Could you make it more expressive if you wanted? Either the stringer or weaker springs? I’ve seen the guy on Vega trems Instagram diving it a lot deeper. Also your playing is sick man
Thank you..I believe you can..but tuning stability will take a while more to settle down..✌💚
Thanks, this is a great video! You mention the VT2 seems to work better than a Bigsby. Which Bigsby did you have experience with? It is the B5? Certainly, the VT2's install procedure is easier than a B5 and requires a lot less drilling.
A couple including the B5.. I spoke a bit more about it in my live stream✌️❤️
Brilliant! What are you playing through?
Check the description ✌️❤️
03/18/2023: Wow, so cool. But, I must have missed how the bridge is pulled back down. I did not see any springs, so could you explain how that feature works?
The springs are slotted down thru the string cavities…capped off by the cap heads where you can adjust the tension of the springs. Watch the installation part again✌️❤️
I have a Fender Tele with Wide Range Humbucker pickups, will a Vega Trem fit just behind the bridge pickup?
Not too sure..you might want to check with Vegatrem✌♥
Nice demo and playing! Is there a grounding wire to the bridge fulcrum plate? Do you get any hum when you are not touching the strings or trem on the guitar?
Nope ✌️❤️
I just pre-ordered the new VT2nd version. Can’t wait to try it out on my homebuilt Tele!
My VT2nd just arrived, the fulcrum plate mounts in existing holes of the stock bridge. Going to install this one soon!
I installed the VT2nd on my home built Tele, and have really been liking it. I had to shim my neck to get the action where I like it after adjusting a bit of float on the bridge. Stays in tune! Stiff arm, but not hard to get used to it.
I didn’t get why did you drilled holes 4:00? Isn’t it easier to just screw in old ones
Do you at any existing holes when I drilled?
Can it float a bit so you can do flutters?
No it does not...
Think this would work with shoegaze-y glide picking stuff? I’ve been torn between a jazzmaster & a tele & after going on a rage against the machine binge over the past week & noticing that tele are cheaper & easier to maintain, I’m kinda leaning away from the JM now but was looking for something similar to that tremolo texture. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!
Just got to the part of the play through where you glide picked a few times, sounded good but I’m still pretty curious how it feels ergonomically for that style of playing
I've explained that it's not the same as a normal tremolo system...This is more like a bigsby
16:48 No way, I am going to risk 'needing to investigate' the tuning issues, after spending 265 + 64 euros for shipping to me
there is no way these springs arent going to stretch over time, let alone the fulcrum home position issue (and grounding problem)
Then please don’t✌️❤️
The VegaTrem doesn't seem very responsive. I see you shaking it but hardly any vibrato/change in pitch. What are your thoughts?
Please watch the video in its entirety ✌️❤️
I was about to get this but read you can only use 10s on it? I was going to do baritone strings 13.5-62
Where did you read it? ?
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I forget
@@HappyChillmore I think it should work… but still it’s better to ask Vega trem direct
My heart is broken… why would they make this less expressive than the VT1? Anyone who wants to sound like they are playing a Bigsby can easily choose to be more subtle with their use of the bar. However anyone who wants to get more than a half step dive still has to chew out the back of their guitar and put a Strat Trem in? Seems like an epic waste of money. I have the VT1 on a Strat and I love it so much. Would love to use this on not just my teles but other unrouted guitars as well. I’d seriously love to top-load as well since the only real flaw in the VT 1 is the ultra recessed string loading. I had to permanently remove the back plate in order to reliably replace strings while on gigs. This this top loads but only gives a slight effect, doesn’t appear to lock the saddles down like the VT1 which I’m convinced gives it resonance close to a Babicz… This one doesn’t and costs $300? dear lord why? Demo is very nice. Just bummed about the limitations
It’s not supposed to be like a normal trem system.. more like a bigsby.. which I’ve stated in the video
Look fwd ta jammin for Jesus with you one day brother, love your playing!
✌️❤️❤️
CIAO parli bene l'italiano !
Grazie Millie !!✌️❤️
This seems like it's quality, but like a saint Bernard in the back door, in the way. Your style or hand position in this vid is way different than usual for sure
✌️❤️
Not sure it’s worth the money and effort for such a marginal effect. Tbh your playing was great in the bits without it and I’m not sure it added that much apart from some tuning instabilty
Fair enough! Thank you ✌♥
@JonIsJustTooLoud Absolute nonsense. Your use of the whammy was so beautiful and all the nuances of the whammy added so much magic to the melody.
Wow man that looks really easy my only question is how do you keep the little buttons on the back from unscrewing and falling off, thus leaving your tremolo incapacitated I'm pissing you off, could you maybe use a little loctite would that help?
lol...yes Loctite would help✌♥
I play way too loud to everybody yells at me for it
