Also they won't copyright you, they actually support reactions and have even shared some on their pages but I don't mind the pausing as long as it's not during a solo.
Just a friendly advice, if you pause just go back 5 seconds or so, so you are sure you don't miss anything, and it gives a more natural flow to the reaction.
it is almost never up to the bands. It isn't even always up to the record labels. It varies, but most of the time it's the publishers that submit the claims. Sabaton and Napalm Records are both really supportive though
1527 was the sack of Rome 189 swiss guards defended the current Pope at the time getting him to safety and in the process most of the guards were killed
@Blake N Dude I have no idea were you have that number from but there were not even 15,000 germans present :D The Imperial Army saccing Rome consisted of about 14,000 german and 6,000 spanish mercenaries and an unknown number of italians.
They didn’t kill them all they got the pope safely to castelo st Angelo which was a heavily fortified position with heavy artillery and lots of other weapons for defense. By that point the soldiers sacking Rome had way better options than suiciding at an easily defensible castle. The army that sacked Rome was there in the first place because their Commander couldn’t pay them so in order to keep his life he directed them to a place they could loot hence Rome which was a very rich city. The looting was way worse than it should have been though because their Commander died part way through the battle. This is the story of the Swiss guards and the black band Mercenaries who were in charge of defending the city and the pope. The Swiss guards are the popes private army and consist of Swiss mercenaries, now Swiss special forces. Their oaths are now taken on the anniversary of the Last Stand of the 189 Swiss Guards of 1527.
Sabaton is all about sharing the story, they support reaction channels because it gives chance to reach more viewers to listen to the story they want to tell. Really cool guys.
I'd love to see Night Witches by them and they have a newer animated music video story version that gives more history that is really cool for it and is only a little but longer but I think it add more appreciation for the lyrics
Most of their songs are about history, specifically War history (Events, Battles or Significant Individuals). You should react to Sabaton - Uprising (Live at Polish Woodstock Festival in 2012, the Official Live Video). It has an audience of 500,000 to 750,000 and it will blow your mind!
I'd love to also see the animated story video(which has the full song buy them) for no bullets fly. Somebody was cutting onions the first time I had seen it
In 1527 b.c, The Swiss guards, in clear numeric inferiority were able to hold off the combined armies of the Holy Roman Empire, french mercenaries, Spain and Italy that had revolted against their commander due to lack of payment. 189 brave Swiss guards stood their ground against a massive tide of more than 5000 soldiers and cavalry giving the Pope enough time to get to safety in the depths of Sant'angelo Castle. They gave their lives on the stairs of St. Peter's Basilica, and they pass onto history as a ray of hope among one of the most cruel massacres in history: The Sac of Rome of 1527.
Big hug and respect from Sweden :). Ive seen them live probably 13 times across 9 years now and i can honest say they havent got one single bad song in their repertoar not even the early covers are bad. You can never go wrong with any of their tracks.
And although their service has not been continuous like the Yeomen of The Guard (from 1st Oct 1485) or the Livgardet (from 1521), The Swiss Guard still guard the pope, swearing to give up their lives in defence of him if required. They must be Swiss-born single catholic males between 19 and 30 who have completed military training in the Swiss Armed Forces to qualify. The Last Stand was during the sack of Rome by the troops of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor on 6th May 1527 when the 189 members of the Swiss Guard were wiped out in a rearguard action starting in the Teutonic Cemetery in the Vatican, then onto the steps of the Basilica the last 42 being finished off in the Papal Appartments as they defended the Passetto di Borgo, a secret corridor which connects the Vatican City to the Castel Sant'Angelo, which allowed Pope Clement VII to escape to that fortress and relative safety. Of the 55,000 inhabitants of Rome, only 10,000 were left after the Imperial troops, rioting over unpaid wages and keen to make good with anything they could carry off, departed. 6-12,000 were murdered, and many more died of disease in the remains of the city, the sack of which was only ended when the plague broke out. Others fled into the countryside if they could, but it was 33 years until Rome regained its pre-sack population level. The Swearing-in ceremony for new guardsmen each year is held on 6th May, the anniversary of the Last Stand - a strong reminder of the commitment they are making. The English translation of the Oath is: I swear that I will faithfully, loyally and honourably serve the Supreme Pontiff () and his legitimate successors, and dedicate myself to them with all my strength, sacrificing, if necessary, my life to defend them. I assume this same commitment with regard to the Sacred College of Cardinals whenever the Apostolic See is vacant. Furthermore, I promise to the Commanding Captain and my other superiors respect, fidelity and obedience. I swear to observe all that the honour of my position demands of me. Following this, each new Guardsman is called by name and while holding the banner of the guard with his left hand, raises his right with thumb, forefinger and middle finger extended on three axes signifying the Holy Trinity, and promises by name that he will diligently and faithfully abide by the oath.
Great reaction! Love Sabaton! You should also check out “Ghost Division” live at Woodstock. Also “Night Witches” and “No Bullets Fly” - both complete animated videos. 👍🏻
Thumbnail was VERY appropriate. They are on a different level, not just entertaining but educational as well. How are they so good at that? Each new song by them I add more respect. I used to give them a hard pass...then I listened to a song. Still not my bag genre-wise, but I make an exception for them. Top notch! ✌️💖 #thewarningEvolve
Damn dude. You pretty much explained how I feel about them. First I felt like they are a bit cheesy (I`m not a power metal fan, I am more into the heaviest genres), but then, suddenly you get their lyrics (and i nerd my ass off on history, especially military part of it) and you start to love Sabaton. Rare example of lyrics and concept behind song beating actual music taste
One of hte most important songs in the Sabaton library (and conveniently a damn good one) is 40:1. You'll want the official live version at Woodstock Poland for reasons that will become obvious. Also, a lot of people will recommend Uprising from that same concert, which is a fantastic option, but so is their more recent performance of it off the Great Tour in Warsaw. Maybe a reaction to both versions back to back would be nice? They're slightly different and I doubt you'll mind listening to it twice in a row.
This song is like CANDY to me. It is SO FREAKING catchy and addictive. I strongly strongly suggest "Great War", "82nd All the Way" and "Winged Hussars", all fantastically catchy, driving, super awesome tunes. Also, notice how the drummer gets that cymbal in there on the "and" - that's part of the secret sauce and it's fantastic.
Sabaton are awesome live. I would highly recommend the official live version of Uprising. It is filmed at the Polish Woodstock festival and it is about the uprising in Poland during ww2... The atmosphere is amazing. Also I saw Sparta recommended below which I would also recommend. Fun fact: Sabaton have a section on their website where you can suggest a topic for them and give the story behind it and they may make it into a song.
I would recommend an official version of Uprising. It gives much deeper appreciation of this song. You can find there true videos of Warsaw covered in flames. R.I.P. to all people who fought for freedom
@@grzesiu055 you are probably right actually... I've seen them before so I like the live version but for a first watch it is probably better to watch the original
This specifically is the reason even today, only swiss may become bodyguards of pope.. Its both tradition and the acceptance that those 189 protected sacking of Rome in 1527 against thousands of soldiers.
Also most members of Sabaton are actually atheists.. they even have anti-christian songs. But the ability to pay homage to the dead Swiss guard with a song respecting the religion of those who fought in the 1500s is pretty cool.
I don't think Sabaton is "anti" anything. They're more like a musical version of Badass of the Week. Most of their songs (save for covers like their take on Twilight of the Thunder God and silly shit like Metal Machine), are keeping the memories of impressive deeds among humanity alive through the power of metal.
My man, if you need a musical pre-workout, check out Sabaton's "Screaming Eagles". It's about a group of American troops caught in a fire fight against the Germans in the Belgian town of Bastogne (bass-tone) in WWII. The video is fantastic! High energy song, fast guitars and drums - it'll get you freaking pumped! Friendly warning: there are alot of quick scene changes, muzzle and bomb flashes in this video as it portrays parts of the legendary battle. Interesting side note - Sabaton's drummer is married to Floor from Nightwish 😉
The line of them giving their lives on the steps to heaven is because the courtyard was overrun and the steps to St. Peter's basilica was a choke point where only 12 men could pass at a single time, similar to the Hot Gates of Thermopylae where the 300 Spartans held the line
The vast majority of their songs commemorate honorable warriors across history. They've done a few songs of condemnation - against the Nazis and Taliban for starters. Somewhat controversially, they've done songs for the German common soldiers of WW2, including one on Rommel's tank corps (Ghost Division), the Bismark and one on a situation towards the end of the war where two divisions disobeyed Hitler's orders to do a last stand in Berlin and instead helped evacuate civilians and wounded to a surrender to the British and American forces by holding off the Russians one last time (Hearts of Iron). By that point the Russians were more a rampage than an army... One of their weirdest military songs from very early on is Camouflage. It's from before they went full on military with the song Primo Victoria...
I highly recommend "Lost Batallion" but find a vid with the intro narration. As a producer I think you'll appreciate the alternative drum kit they used for it.
Honestly, react to " No Bullets Fly". The animated video also includes what happened, leading up to the song. It was about a German fighter pilot escorting a crippled American bomber back into friendly air space. It really just hits different. After the video, it shows the real life footage of the two pilots meeting, years later. It's low-key hard to watch with a dry eye.
A suggestion for listen to all of there stuff you can't stop after the 3rd song also they just dropped a new Christmas song about the Christmas truce of 1918
189 were troop whose main purpose was to protect the pope.. and pope lost a war and it was their duty to protect the holy see.. shich the song is about.. with those final 189 surrender is not an option, specially in late-medieval and they protectect the pope.. tbh they protected pope so well that pope's primary guards are still made of the same people
This specifically is the reason even today, only swiss may become bodyguards of pope.. Its both tradition and the acceptance that those 189 protected sacking of Rome in 1527 against thousands of soldiers.
I'll be watching Sabaton live at Warlando this September. Given Sabaton gets used for a ton of Warhammer 40K vids. Maybe move on to some Boltthrower, a UK band that started out with Games Workshop (Warhammer) artwork and lyrics about war in that universe on the album Realm of Chaos.

Sabaton aka the heavy metal historians! All of their songs are based on historic Wars and battles! Sabaton is the best metal band out there right now. Probably have the biggest budget for their music videos as well! The best ones are Bismarck, fields of Verdun, and defence of Moscow!
You can check out no bulets fly animated story video also night witches animated story ghost division live woodstock and also nice the red baron live in Berlin thjat could be awesome
I have a list here for you so feel free to check them out (: PS these are not in any particular order and I havent payed any attention to the ones youve already listened too. These are just my favourites: 1. A lifetime of war (there is a swedish version but make sure to put on subtiles). 2. Carolus Rex (same goes for this one). 3. The Lion from the north. 4. To hell and back. 5. Great war. 6. Swedish pagans.
I know it doesn't belong in this video, but you have to watch it. 😮 Epic battle 2015😮!!! You will love it 😉 "BBK (CAN) VS NaPoM (USA) North American Beatbox Champs Battle"
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan? The band is call "Lovebites" They all The Beautiful Queens metal band right now in the earth. They are really really World class musicians. Phenomenal. And they have a lot fans too. The song is "Winds of Transylvania" Hope you check out, and can enjoy it too. Big thanks🙏

If you're a Star Wars nut then you'll love the fan made music videos made from Clone Wars footage. It was how I got introduced to Sabaton. Can highly recommend The Last Battle - ua-cam.com/video/p1ZmlyBWGog/v-deo.html
Hey there Cliff, maybe I can interest you in a band from Germany that's been around for 30 years now? They're called Blind Guardian, playing Power Metal and beautiful acoustic songs, often inspired by mythology or Fantasy books. Here's a video from their gig at Wacken Open Air Festival 2016, 2 songs in that video. ua-cam.com/video/i-IcX_bccFc/v-deo.html First one is "The Bards Song (In The Forest)" - probably THE song everyone who's ever listened to it instantly knows by heart and loves it. Second one is "Valhalla" - showing off their harder side, but it's also a huge fan favorite whenever they play it, so you'll really enjoy it.
ppl who watch reaction channels just to see head popping to the music are trash, pause whenever you want.. THAT is why Im watching reaction channel instead of the original
There's one song that you haven't tried yet it's Schindler's List the final solution done by Sabaton. Plus dying last breath, inmates 4859, and defense of Moscow you like this one cuz they play Russia's national anthem!
Sabaton is basically "Support the lives lost in war, the band" and they mean ALL lives lost in war. No matter the army.
And god damn do they do it well.
Also they won't copyright you, they actually support reactions and have even shared some on their pages but I don't mind the pausing as long as it's not during a solo.

Yes, thats a perfect one. Uprising is also about the Polish uprising so its really epic to see that song infront of alot of polish people
I call it History Metal. This song is contagious..Already can sing along. Joakims baritone gritty voice shines insanly
Sabaton is also great live. React to En livstid i krig live at Gothemburg the Great Tour. You won't how much people sing alongside Joakim.

Hey there Cliff,
maybe I can interest you in a band from Germany that's been around for 30 years now?
They're called Blind Guardian, playing Power Metal and beautiful acoustic songs, often inspired by mythology or Fantasy books.
Here's a video from their gig at Wacken Open Air Festival 2016, 2 songs in that video.

First one is "The Bards Song (In The Forest)" - probably THE song everyone who's ever listened to it instantly knows by heart and loves it.
Second one is "Valhalla" - showing off their harder side, but it's also a huge fan favorite whenever they play it, so you'll really enjoy it.
hearts of iron weeb music hahaha, feels like a foxhole discord
ppl who watch reaction channels just to see head popping to the music are trash, pause whenever you want.. THAT is why Im watching reaction channel instead of the original
I don't like this whole god and religion thing, but this song is so good.
I love the CHRISTIAN religion part brotha🎉💙🤘

DEUS VULT
I love Sabaton and they have made some amazing music, but this song remind me a bit too much of a Eurovision song. Sorry!
There's one song that you haven't tried yet it's Schindler's List the final solution done by Sabaton. Plus dying last breath, inmates 4859, and defense of Moscow you like this one cuz they play Russia's national anthem!
