sad thing is most succesful pro fighters have some form of cte... its unavoidable if you want to make it to the top... The happiest case is you either end up like terry norris, or retire due to injury ( or dont get cte at all because of godlike genetics ) or you dont fight at all
That gym is for pros bro, that is why they spar hard with no headgear. They want to become pros and champs, that is why they risk it, even knowing the CTE consequences. I think being an amateur in Holland is no sense, too much damage for nothing, even if you are allowed to use headgear 😅. Kickboxing in Holland is like Boxing in Mexico or Muay Thai in Thailand, is a way of living
You see Melvin coaching on the sidelines and forcing the guy to keep going and getting battered. Manhoef is one of my favorite MMA/K1 guys but he probably partook in alot of this type of sparring and he now has no chin. Shortening their careers for no money and dumb gym wars.
And how many championship belts have you got ? How many world champions have the gym you're training at have produced ?! Mike's approach speaks for itself. Badr Hari, Melvin Manhoeff, Ghokan Saki, Murthel Groenheart, just to name a few. This approach is not for everybody, but it bloody works !
Man I feel sorry for that big guy. He was probably on Day 3 of his one week free trial for the gym. Before this session I can guarantee he wouldve signed up hahaha!
I listened to Antonio Plazibat podcast who trains there. He said that its the style of training that you catch who ever comes first and its basically sparring to death. Its dumb and unnecesarry but Mike's gym is notorious for that kind of training.

It will for sure create champions but also alot of brain trauma down the line. Is it worth it? Can you achieve a high standard of fight level without battering each other, other coaches believe you can. I think these aggressive type of training sessions should be kept to a minimum and leave the hard fight for the actual contest.
Yes and no. Mikes gym is one of the most extreme over here in the netherlands.. but there is no doubt youll need hard sparring. I very often hear foreign people say they prefer the thai way of training but they ignore the fact that they are so use to the beating since theyve been fighting week in week out. We western people have not so we need to get familiar with real punches. There is a reason why so many dutch fighters are at the top cause fight sports are not big here.
You have to realize that that coach is Melvin Manhoef, a dutch fighting icon. This is no gym for the faint and not all dutch gyms are like this. Plus this is a pro sparring session. These guys are all pro's
bunch of "tough guys" ignorant of the body's limits. Their body will be so worn out in 5 year's time they'll all need a nurse and a bedpan, wouldn't be so tough then.
Dumbest sparring ever..the guy has been hurt 20 times to the body and they still hit him there..what's the point? these clowns understand basic human physiology?the liver is not a muscle...
I dont understand sparring, to me sparring is juts fighting, like why do they call it sparring its like you tell a bunch of guys to go 60% and then 50% of them will go 95% , and then its just a horrible fight where one is going hard and the other not. To me it just pre requests that you fight for real. How do you guys handle sparring and the competitive often narcissistic nature of men that fight?
I think they should wear safety gear for the head/neck so you cant get brain trauma like a neck brace n helmet and then go FULL on thats how id do it, you get the experience going full power wo going chinny
He was looking good in the early part of the video. It probabaly was a 30 minute sparring session, he just gassed out after third partner. Then he just became a punching bag.
That shit at 2:03 onward is disgusting. No one should be pushed to that point in a fucking training session. He can't even stand, and the coaches are screaming at him to keep going. What, do they want their fighters to die in their thirties? Horrible gym, horrible people, horrible fighters.
So much control, so much technique, I can already tell these guys are gonna enjoy very long careers with no CTE
You had me in the first half not gonna lie

🤣duth style b
@@josuemanuelparejacontreras6004Nak Muays don't try to kill each other in sparring. I respect Kyokushin, but Dutch Style is stupid.

Exactly!
thank god it was to the body.
Body shots are lethal man! I prever getting knocked out on the head then on the liver!!
JOOZ my first pro fight I got Ko by liver punch never been hit that hard ever since punch had me rolling on the ground in pain hahaha

Big Guy showed that weakness in a room full of sharks.
Liver was attacked relentlessly as a result.
alot of guys come to mikes gym to prove a point, mike wants them to feel how good pro kickboxers really are
true, when you’re that big with no prior training or cardio work you will inevitably struggle in a sport like this
Thats crazy having actual fights in the gym
Nice internal organs conditioning.
LOL
Big guy defo pissed blood that night
Hard sparring like that is good for you to get better for sure, but knees to the face without kneepads...... thats disgusting
It depends on how often you do it.
@@viriatomoderno1667well this is a dutch gym so it’s safe to say they’re probably doing it every session lol

Apparently he's a 4 time WBC International Muay Thai Champion. Ricardo van den Bos.
@@somerled5513 Well there ya go! Just goes to show how tough the gym is.
@@taneranathan you see him going well in the beginning, but when you are tired and take liver shots, you go down.
😂😂😂😂 no way they gave a new inexperienced guy this treatment (almost criminal if they would). this is a advanced class full of competitors.
When u train with Melvin it's a fucking dog fight. I get the mindset but dayum. When u get pummeled like that u can't really learn much
wassup with all the beginners sparring with pros??
+Erik Apple Haha yeah xD somebody in the room was wearing a Try Out Day shirt or something like that....shit was hardcore I felt every punch
Erik Apple Maybe people should do a google search before hitting a gym 😳
@RumsyDumsy IDT anyone is getting confidence hard sparring with pros lol
Erik Apple mad dog grimes
A knee to the face in sparring? 1:40

And this is how you get brain damage. Champions no doubt but brain damage
spoken true words
Damn... they didn't like that big dork too much... lol. that liver is liver wurst.
all that muscles begging for oxygen the bigger you are the faster you gas out
+Big Tank if you train propperly you can be big, strong and have conditioning
+kadijaish ok coach
any time, mate. Just ask, dont be shy
+Daniel Leon hehehe..i believe thats Ricardo van de Bos...check his fight record at wikipedia, lol
I swear there's 3 Murthels. Maybe clones?
There are 2 murthel and Fernando
+sofien sofiene clones... I knew it.....
is he sparring the big guy or bullying him?
Haha poor guy got mauled fully
Gym Wars, just burns you out. Nothing left in the tank for competition day. Top dog is left with no sparring partners.

Getting knocked out in sparring wtf? No wonder none of the dutch of that time had chins.
Just noticed there's a guy in a suit and tie. Wonder if this was "tryouts" for It's Showtime or some big kickboxing league.
Music?

+Kevin Morley AMEN
the dutch have the kickboxing game on lock, they literally have world champions in almost every wieghtclass.. theyre dominating and this is why
tenjho101 they also have world champions in Thailand and Australia who never spar like this
Exactly!!
The big guy looked sedated... any ideas ?
I train in Kyokushin but damn I would so love to train at this gym!
Stick to Kyokushin and cross train it with Muay Thai. Dutch Style is basically Kyokushin, Muay Thai, Western Boxing and CTE.
0:40 Good sparring the men with the white glove
Damn no headgear? That's hardcore.
949surferdude dude that's what I'm saying guess I'm a pussy valuing my brain
Headgear can't protect you from concussions
So helmet?
What's that black guy his name in the beginning. He moves verry good. you almost can't hit him. Nice moves dude
Kiki Monkou borger tam. He is my trainer.
Guy in white gloves goes soft on the black guy on 0:40 but with other “weaker” people he tries to knock em out -_-
Track ID ?
dumb way to train in my opinion, your body will only take so much of that and you will be on the scrap heap

This weight lifter dude is the same guy from part 1 who kept getting dropped repeatedly..
in Mike's gym you dont f*ck with 2 types: Moroccans and Surinameses
morrocan brothers
2:00 - continually dropped by body shots, what is forcing him to spar achieving. Also nice sparring partner for continuously going to the liver lol.
“If their is no enemy, then their is no victory”
