Two or three years ago I paid a comparative king's ransom replacing the lost/donated to charity Super Powers Batman, Robin and Joker figures from my childhood. I love how this channel has true reverence for the memories that these wonderful little totems evoke in all of us.
Sadly I had the whole set, plus Batmobile, and Hall of Justice play set!! Sadly my mother threw them out when I went to college.. I was kinda upset about it when I found out. But now that I'm much much older, I really wish I still had those toys!! Would have gotten some money for them now days!! 😬😬🤦🤦🤷♂️🤷♂️😥😥
I have said it before and I will say it again, I do love your creatively nostalgic intros. Love your videos, I find them inspiring for repairing various household things.
MicroMark catalogue sells a great two-part silicone duplication putty, a canister of purple bubblegum-textured stuff and a canister of white. One pinches a bit of each from each canister, and mix it by hand, it's nontoxic. When it's fully blended to a light pinkish-purple, you have 15-20 minutes before it fully sets. I would press the original head that's in better condition, use your Milliput (I use plexiglas plumbing epoxy putty, myself. Which might solve the left leg of your Robin figure, as well.) the silicone molds withstand 700°, so if you needed to use baking clay (you could use lead or pewter in these molds!) you could. Since you are likely repainting, I doubt it would hurt to start from scratch with an altogether new head. I use a Dremel to properly hollow the neck peg hole.
This was one of my favorite lines growing up. The catalog of characters they made was excellent and they were one of the few lines that I actually enjoyed the action gimmicks on. The repair turned out beautifully! The ears really were very close to the original and on a shelf, you’d be hard pressed to notice the difference. Will we be seeing more from this line in the near future? I’m very curious about trying to repair any of the mechanisms.🤔 Thank you for sharing another amazing restoration. Cheers, Dave!😃👍
I love the montage music in your videos, every time it never fails to relax me; as does the music when you do the "hot soapy water" washes. Thank you for your dedication to toy restoration and sharing your adventures with us. Much love, mate! (And give Mrs Toy Polloi a hug on the weekend) ;)
Love your videos, thanks for the nostalgia trip. I printed the cape layout, now I have to get my batman his cape. Again cheers for your passion and inspiration.
This was such a lovely nostalgia trip for me, my brother had these Batman and Robin figures and I had Superman and lex. They were such wonderful and well loved toys! Brilliant fix as always, loved it!
The Superpowers Batman figure was one of my favorite childhood action figures. It’s so nice seeing a full restoration on him. Fantastic job as always! Cheers!
As always, brilliant job Dave! I loved this line as well as Marvel Secret Wars. As a kid, they were the only real representations of DC & Marvel heroes at the time & are still my favorites to this day. I’d love to see more from this line🙂
Batman is my absolute favorite character, I really enjoyed this! Maybe you could get a hold of his Batmobile (unless you already have one, can't remember) one day, and restore it as well!
I never saw these as a kid. If I had I would have got them. Marvel and DC comics my favourite read in the 70's. I knew of them from the US ads in the monthly comics. But again never saw them in shops at the time. Great!
After the cape video I attempted making them for my self. I use 3mm gauge aluminum craft wire and wound it around a sharpie to make a coil with a 15mm diameter. Once I cut the ring, it fit the dimensions of the original cape clip.
Dropped it on the floor and the ear-horns didn't break off. That might be more a testament to the metal core you put in than the durability of the milliput.
I'm glad that my super powers collection is in pretty good shape after playing with them when I was a kid, the only thing that I need to do to my Batman is replace the cape, because it lost it's real color.
Honestly, I'd *love* to see a version of this figure with all of the blues repainted to match your darker custom cape. Yes, it would lack that 80's Kenner magic but I'm quite certain it'd make for a striking figure. If I ever come across a reasonably priced beater one day, I may even give it a go myself! Thanks for the great content!
Before you trimmed them, the staples kind of made him look like one of those Sci-Fi ‘imaginary’ stories that I have in a Batman collection of the Golden and Silver Age comics.
I try to show what I use in each video and I do buy new ones for projects. It's always good to have black, white, and a few browns and a flesh colour. After that it depends on what figures you are fixing. Super Powers figure need lots of bright colours, star wars require much more muted tones. Cheers
This was a really fun and entertaining fix. I'm going to have to find an earless batman now so I can have a go at fixing one. Maybe I'll do an Adam west repaint on it.
Hi, what a beautifull job !!! I would like to know what´s the brand of the number 61. I have a superman for restoring, do you know what type of red i have to use ??? thank u very much
Toy Polloi my friend, I'm a big Super Powers fan, this is a very cool video, unfortunately some of my SP figures have suffered from yellowing, Superman is looking like Green Lantern lol. Anyway I'm not sure if you know this but the actual cape material is called Tricot. I discovered this a few years back when trying to replace Martian Manhunters cape. Great vid!
Realy nice repair I realy want the figure and am looking for a broken one as might be cheaper .I have superman but his colours are changing on various parts my green lantern is nice
I had Superman, Batman and Lex Luther as a kid but trying to get them in 2021 is really difficult. Superman they found a batch of unused new old stock so he is the least rare but Lex and Batman complete with no damage very very rare
@@toypolloi really? That is awesome. At this point my thought was simply tracing it on with graphite and then painting. Lol! I have some original 3D printed figures to figure out as well. Superpowers style.
Is that what the drill is called, a pin vice? I looked for a set around my area my local Canadian tire (hardware store) didn't have anything no one knew they even existed.
I don’t know if it’d work with this kind of plastic, but somewhere I’ve seen an approach where you just heat the staple red hot, press it straight into the plastic, and let it cool in place,
I actually have this old Batman figure with a Batman symbol on the chest like this one but it’s kind of beat up. You wouldn’t know any way to restore something like that would you?
There's just something so cool about the blue and grey Batman.
THIS IS STILL THE BEST BATMAN FIG OF ALL TIME
Super Powers will always have a very special place in my heart, and this was a joy to watch. Great job!

Not going to lie, I kinda liked the Tv Antenna Batman pre milliput lol.
They made him look like The Tick, which is not a bad thing.
Looks like what you'd see on a silver age comic story cover: alien batman.
Holy milliput batman! That's a great restoration!
I sold my superman and batman superpowers figure way back Sir Dave. They had worned out colors and no cape.Im glad your channel was around.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I do love your creatively nostalgic intros. Love your videos, I find them inspiring for repairing various household things.
Awesome piece from the childhood!

I am always impressed by your ability to mix paints so that they match the colors of the toy.
'Kapow!" Cracking job, another toy rescued 👍
This was an amazing restoration of the Super Powers Batman!
Holy happy little bat ears! The Bob Ross of toy repair with another great restoration!

Love the Sapphire and Steel style intro.
Cool...i am not the only one who got the SaS.... intro 👍

Much love, mate! (And give Mrs Toy Polloi a hug on the weekend) ;)
Awesome job. So much going on here - ears, paint, cape - and the end result looks like it came right out of the package!
Thanks. The ears make Batman. Without them he loses so much.
His emblem being performed is a great starting point
Love your videos, thanks for the nostalgia trip. I printed the cape layout, now I have to get my batman his cape. Again cheers for your passion and inspiration.
LOVE to see that you're finally doing some SUPERPOWERS. Keep 'em coming!
Loved the Sapphire and Steel opening homage

Another great repair Dave. Have to admit, your sewing skills are impressive! The Dark Knight never looked so good :)
another top notch job and thanks for showing how of how to fix Batman ears
If the Batman repair didn’t work out you would have an awesome space ghost figure!!
With just the staples in, Batman looks startlingly like The Tick.
You did really well with the ears, I was hoping you wouldn't give Batman bunny ears at any point and you managed to avoid that. :) great video!
"Holy restoration, Batman!".
I remember seeing those Batman toys back in the early 90s
Looks great.
i really like this Bats. I still have one in decent shape & look at him.Real nice fix !
As always, brilliant job Dave! I loved this line as well as Marvel Secret Wars. As a kid, they were the only real representations of DC & Marvel heroes at the time & are still my favorites to this day. I’d love to see more from this line🙂
Had the comics but never the figures, great job 👍🏻
That was a fun watch, very nice job restoring Batman, I had the superman for sure as a kid, I might of had the Batman but can't be sure.
Add another project to the list, thanks as always for the continued inspiration!
Holy fiddly bits, Batman
Another great job Dave
Batman is my absolute favorite character, I really enjoyed this! Maybe you could get a hold of his Batmobile (unless you already have one, can't remember) one day, and restore it as well!
Batman is my 3rd favorite character. I have this figure. A good friend of mine helped me get a vintage cape so now his complete.
My first SPs were Supes and Bats. Best 6th B'day.
I never saw these as a kid. If I had I would have got them. Marvel and DC comics my favourite read in the 70's. I knew of them from the US ads in the monthly comics. But again never saw them in shops at the time. Great!

Hey Dave🙂
Batman! Now you are speaking my language ....haha🦇
I have always been in awe of your eye for colour.
Happy weekend and take care
looks great!!!!
I wish I could of made a cape for mine batman as a kid loved him
Before you trimmed them, the staples kind of made him look like one of those Sci-Fi ‘imaginary’ stories that I have in a Batman collection of the Golden and Silver Age comics.
nice job, I did the same thing to one of my 90s kenner batman figures, it was a cheap figure but worth the fix.
Ah yes this was that WiFi ready Batman you showed on a post not long ago. Nice.
Would you ever compile a list of your most commonly used paints and colors?
I try to show what I use in each video and I do buy new ones for projects. It's always good to have black, white, and a few browns and a flesh colour. Not a bad idea for a custom!.
Always excited to see your new videos pop up, Dave!
Everyone make sure to like, subscribe, and share!
Woouuu... Those action figures have a age of... 40 years old???
I remember so many kids chewing on the ears.
I was looking for something related to this explanation.
Looks as if the worn paint on Batman's right fist, may have been due to some gnawing.
Hi, what a beautifull job !!! I would like to know what´s the brand of the number 61. I have a superman for restoring, do you know what type of red i have to use ??? thank u very much
I wonder if plastic fork points would have also worked for Batman’s ears.
I love it ! I got it

Genius
7:34 Ha ha he looks like the Tick😁😁😁 Also wow mate your ears look even better than the original imo 👍
Realy nice repair I realy want the figure and am looking for a broken one as might be cheaper .I have superman but his colours are changing on various parts my green lantern is nice
The mechanism in a lot of these figures freezes up or doesn't work. Would love to see you do a video where you repair the mechanism on a figure.
He looks like Jim Lee Batman
You need thoe sading sticks day
God, I miss Sapphire and Steel....
How do you prevent from the cloth from fraying?
The material I use doesn't fray. It's the same as used for vintage Star wars capes.
once the ears were dried and hard, you could have sanded them down or just cut away material to be a better size.
Got a lot off ebay brainiac and lex Luther with opposite arms missing.
And a upper torso of batman.
Thinking milliput to make new arms
I'docw to see a solution for the missing clear door on the large TMNT krang figure!
I had Superman, Batman and Lex Luther as a kid but trying to get them in 2021 is really difficult. Superman they found a batch of unused new old stock so he is the least rare but Lex and Batman complete with no damage very very rare
Have you repaired broken squeezing legs on super powers?
Would a few drops of liquid poly not be able to tighten up these joints?
Would using styrene work, too, for the ears? Just curious.
How would you go about restoring the Superpowers chest logo's? I have a Green Lantern, Batman, Robin, etc.
It's on my projects list. I do have a plan.
@@toypolloi really? That is awesome. At this point my thought was simply tracing it on with graphite and then painting. Lol! I have some original 3D printed figures to figure out as well. Superpowers style.
I'm planning to get onto this project in the new year.
Is that what the drill is called, a pin vice? I looked for a set around my area my local Canadian tire (hardware store) didn't have anything no one knew they even existed.
You can find all the tools I use listed in the toolshop section of toypolloi.com
@@toypolloi thankyou!

I don't like that method. So much to go wrong and so little control.
Sapphire and Steel are fundamental elements on the atomic periodic table, right?
Youndhoulf invest in suacone sculpting tool
@ 7:30 -- looks like The Tick
I've been looking for one of these batman figures for some time but there is always a broken arm how do you fix this ?
Never liked the light blue color. It should have been a darker blue
Youncan do it i seen sculpt gi joe thumb
My Batman’s arms get stuck oof yet in the bright side the legs are not loose
You should have made the ears longer and painted it black?
I actually have this old Batman figure with a Batman symbol on the chest like this one but it’s kind of beat up. You wouldn’t know any way to restore something like that would you?
I have some ideas, but have yet to test or film them. It is on the list of projects I plan to do.
What happened to Robins thighs? Any way to adjust that?
Anyone know of a way to repair/replace the emblems? I couldn't find anyone even trying it.
It's on my list of projects for next year. I have a plan.
I reckon
kids bite off the ears. I bit the ears off of mine.
You yot about 45 minutes of sculpting time before it starts to get hard
Great job color ma and ching it hard to.match the coloe if plastic.
It not this the color it the sheen tou got to match
Pity that his hands are closed because you could have made a custom batarang with bat rope!.
