*Metallica has been my favorite band for 35 years now. They play hard n heavy, slow n mellow and everything in between. The sound that you like Brad is the same sound that got some Metallica "fans" to no longer like them. There's some ppl who just expect bands to do the same thing, same sound, same speed on every song, every album. I respect them so much as musicians because they do what they want to do and have paved the way for so many others. When other bands want to slow things down and change their sound a little, they just create a separate band/side project. This way fans can't get pissed when they do things different because they're seen as 2 different bands. Metallica just does their thing as Metallica.. take it or leave it*
Me too. I first heard of Metallica when they were with Megaforce Records back in '83 with Kill'em All. When Ride the Lightning came out, my friends and I would just play it over and over again for months. In High School I was known as "That Metallica Guy" because I could wear a different Metallica shirt every day for two weeks, that's how many I had. This was before they became well known outside of the Metal Head community. I grew up with this band and it's cool to see a new generation appreciating them like I did.
They just played In Louisville KY at the “Louder Than Life” concert that’s held every September. They took the stage 2 nights in a row. The band has been posting some of the songs to their channel. Metallica was my 1st concert and I’m so glad for that!
One, The Unforgiven, The Unforgiven II, The Unforgiven III, Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, Fade to Black the songs I often listen to.. But of all Metallica songs I love TURN THE PAGE the most..
I'm proud of you guys understanding and knowing the difference between old and new without reference to album or song. I am glad we were able to explain the divide before you got too far in and you could come up with your preference on your own. I like both, but growing up through it was really interesting.
Metallica is truly the most professional and talented thrash metal band in the world. They've been playing for almost 40 years and will never get old. Masters at what they do, and honestly love their fans like family.
30 years ago today September 24th, 1991 the following albums were released: Nevermind, Bood/Sugar/Sex/Magik, The Low End Theory, Trompe le Monde, Ceremony, Screamadelica were all released. This same year, Metallica released the Black Album.
I remember this song/album came out when I was a junior in high school. Which was about 2008.. I remember my friend had it downloaded on an MP3 and we (mostly he) would kinda listen to it as he, my cousin, and I road in a horse trailer on a 16 hour road trip to Colorado. We were going elk hunting in the mountains for like a week and a half, with a little family group I had.
I liked this album when it came out. It took a few full listens to see everything they did with it. During this time I was in a band and we were writing and recording ourselves. The hype for the album included that the producer had given them a stack of their old stuff and said here's your homework. It's looser than old stuff but they manage to be heavy while also pulling off the new wave of british heavy metal style which actually wasn't heavy metal as we typically think of it now. Regardless, it was the style they set out to emulate when they founded the group. The songs are well written and well integrated. I definitely enjoy the load and reload eras but was glad they did this after st anger. (Shudder)
I really liked this album despite some of it's production issues. For me, the album felt like they were getting back to the roots of what made them next level in the 80's/early 90's while including a lot of elements that made them mainstream. Also, them adding Robert Trujillo for bass was amazing. By far the best bass player since Cliff Burton for the band.
The best thing about seeing Metallica play live is that the every single person in attendance is singing every single word of every single song that they play during the show and it's one of the most incredible things that I've ever been a part of and I have been lucky enough to have seen Metallica play live over 15 times and every time I see them it's a completely different experience and some of the best memories in my life there isn't many bands that you can say that about and the fact that the way that the bands that play today are nowhere near as talented as the band's from the 70's throughout the 90's and the spectacular concerts that they put on will never be matched I was privileged to have been able to witness the best time in the history of music and the level of talent that the bands have today is not anywhere close to the talent of the bands from the beginning of the rock and roll movement that began in the 60's when everything was cutting edge and new when there was no such thing as heavy metal when bands wrote songs with meaning and people were able to relate to the song's music that is being released today is all basically ripped off from the band's that invented rock and roll

Btw Lex the guitar Kirk is playing is called a Flying V, it's string lead guitar. They where introduced in the late 70's.
There's an old 80's movie called Crossroads with Ralph Macchio. They have a guitar rock contest with the devil at the end and it reminds me of this for some reason.
One of their very best songs
Great reactions! love from France.
The official video makes this song far better IMO
Ok this album is fire, one of my favorite songs, you guys HAVE to listen to All Nightmare Long next
You should do Sad But True live in Nimes
Alot of people put hate on their last 2 albums but I loved death magnet and hardwired to self destruct
I love it. He's up there stale as hell and she's just rockin tf out. 🤣
This is one of the most beautiful songs and one of my favorite songs by Metallica, I'm going to see Metallica again when they tour in Iowa, I haven't seen them in concert since the early 90s Black Album, the first time I seen Metallica was Master of Puppets tour, another really cool band that you guys should check out is in this moment Maria Brink is the lead singer ,check out beautiful disaster, The Fighter they play music like Metallica and others
I was there...
Drove to niems from Manchester England for that..
They were absolutely on it that night..
Seen Rammstein there too.
They nearly blew the place up..
Fire was so big it was creating mushroom clouds..😆🤘
The best part of this tune is the guitar harmonies between Rob, James, and Kirk. It reminds me of the old days when Cliff were writing riffs.
I love this song. So good. One of many from the Magnetic album.
Going to aftershock festival in Sacramento in a few weeks Metallica headlining 2 of the 4 nights. Looking forward to some great music.
That concert was banging. Check out All Nightmare Long Live from Nimes (same gig). Cool version of Fuel too.
Lex is such a rocker. She totally gets it. You go girl! 🤘
BEST HEAVY METAL BAND EVER!!!!!
Omg yes, haven’t watched yet but so excited for you two to do this and especially live 😊
My fav Metallica hands down
I would highly highly HIGHLY recommend the song (and lyrics) called Spit Out the Bone, from their newest album. It is right up your ally and would love to hear your takes. It’s fantastic!
If you ever get a chance to see Metallica live....do it.. probably the best love band ever. Always sound amazing.
REAL skill REAL entertainment.
Now that you've seen the live version, it's time to see the music video for this song. It puts the song in the context of the war in Afghanistan. It is incredibly intense and is worth the time to watch it. Try this: ua-cam.com/video/dkNfNR1WYMY/v-deo.html
Glad Brad didn't pause it towards the end!! Great job Brad!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
He thought about it didn't he lol
They're sounding great right now. If you haven't seen them live go when you get the chance. They won't be around forever \m/
Metallica def never gets old. I've been a fan for over 30 and still listen to them on the reg. I'm going to see them in Pittsburgh in August with Greta Van Fleet
You really need to watch the video for this. It will blow you away
The day that never comes literally- brad stopped swaying for a little. Lol. The official video is definitely worth a watch. Lex. You should be a fitness instructor. Lol. Your energy is soooooo infectious.
Funny story. I was actually working for Activision at the time and Metallica decided to release this album as a Guitar Hero DLC and I was able to listen to this album every day for about 6 months before it released. I "couldn't tell" anyone about it due to NDA's but I would play the riffs for friends on my guitar at home and they would trip out on hearing new Metallica haha. I love this album
What a consistently impressive band. I grew out of Metallica at one pointe because of their supposed “commercial” sound. But, I was wrong I think they uphold a strong legacy in metal music.
