I’m a retired Vet and I’ve seen many come and go in my prior field. This is a very real scenario, you NEVER leave a soldier behind. I deal with PTSD for all this s**t I’ve gone through. Hats off and to my knees in prayer for our soldiers. Thank God you exist! That said, Half & Jai, I'd like to suggest you listen to some old Metallica. These guys are hard rock musical geniuses. Their instrumental talent and ability to change tempo at unbelievable togetherness timing will blow your minds. Their music always sends a good message whether war, drug use, ...just listen closely to lyrics. Nobody can draw such crowds as these guys.
I got sent to a group home type situation school, only like 4 of us actually had a home to go to at the end of the school day, but a kid that was all about metal, he showed me how to play a little guitar, was fade to black, but and my English teacher from school was transferred from, was a behavioral school or w.e but had a lesson on "one" by Metallica and the book they took from...can't remember but yeah. Which I'm mainly hip hop n rap, definitely familiar with rock n metal or country or symphonies or w.e...but yeah nah that teacher showing me the "one" video and the book.... everything...hit me and stuck ... truly gave me my foundation of having respect for the military and everything....idk just thought would say

I remember when this song/album first came out around 2009. I was a Senior in high school.. Some family, my best friend from school, and I went on a elk hunting trip to Colorado in the fall.
We loved this song, and my friend had it on his MP3, and we were listening to it while riding in the horse trailer on our 16 hour road trip to Colorado.. Yes, we road in the front of a horse trailer on the freeway. Someone built a small living quarters in the front of it, so it was comfortable to ride in.. Lol
Though the year before, I did ride all the way back from Colorado in the horse trailer with the mules, and there was no living quarters in it. I was laying in the tongue of the fifth wheel, where we had a bunch of our camping stuff. I could see and hear the sounds of the open highway and the mules the whole way. I must've slept, even though it didn't feel like it, because the trip back seemed a lot quicker.
The live version is so much better, Paris France Nimes... incredible! Better than studio!! Even a month ago, 2023 Amsterdam! Crazy they're 60 years old!! Amazing legendary band, my Favorite!! Then they set up our boy as angry and hurt for what happened, and everything lines up to things just going to hell in the traffic stop, and for the spiral of violence to continue - but then, that isn't it. It’s a beautiful song. And the video shows the tension that ultimately amounts to a human interaction. Helping somebody fix the radiator hose. But the anxiety involved with every interaction is staggering. I couldn’t imagine going through it shout out to them, and to both of y’all my only complaint with this video is that you don’t have Braves hats on…

I understood the message of this video differently. For me, the soldier was full of hatred and rancor for the death of his friend and had to fight his desire for revenge until the last moment, to do what was right and help civilians who had nothing to do with the war.

Very few men would choose to lose his life if need be next to a man who signed up to do the same for you. A coward could leave you and him, live, and go home to their own blood family. But to do the opposite is the essence of selflessness and courage. God give us more men of selflessness and courage. It’s our only way out of who we, as The United States of America, have become as a people.
When this music video first came out, around 2009, I had just gotten internet for the first time.
I live in the backwoods, so I could only get dial up at that time. Lol I spent 6 entire hours loading this music video, and started listening to it. Part of the way in, I decided to skip back a little ways, and then it started buffering the whole video again.. I was infuriated and spiritually wrecked. Lol
Thankfully, they put in carbon fiber internet on my road last year, and I finally have fast internet now. Still living at the same backwoods property.. I was on satellite internet for years, and it sucked. Payed so much just to barely watch UA-cam videos at 360p, and experiencing signal loss when it stormed, or signal loss randomly during clear days.
Ironically, now I got problems with the dogs chewing up my internet cable that runs into the house. They did it 3 times this past year, and the last time was just last night, as a bad storm was passing through. So I couldn't look up to see if I was in a tornado zone, and I had to wait until this evening before someone finally came and fixed it.

Half made me start crying when he said the people they served with is their family.. 😭 my dad’s best friend was a Black man. I never met him, but I saw pictures of him holding me. My father may have been many things but he taught me to be strong great work ethics and never taught racism as I found out other families do. Metallica’s music is used in war, although it also means other things.

I did a few tours and the firs time I saw this video I was amazed at how effectively they delivered the message and it will be one that not everyone can understand. Not talking ish... it's just very unique. So when one of yours goes down... the mental jungle gym begins. Your first thought and instinct is im going to kill all of these mother fuckers. Period. That isn't the right thing to do obviously but it is the truth. So what they did was show the pain and the anger when you lose one. But the mission continues. So the battle begins to not let that rage control you. Not only is it not the right course... but it absorbs you. So you aren't focused and if you don't keep your shit together... you make mistakes that end in more death. Then the encounter with the stalled car. VERY VERY common tactic used to bait. Especially when the ROE started to evolve to a presence rather than a force of war. This guy is in the middle of nowhere. They aren't stupid by any means. They have intel on our routes, vehicles, equipment vulnerabilities, etc... dealing with this sort of high risk encounter with suspicious behavior, setting the perimeter and encounter and approach., lots of movement, possible VBIED. You HAVE to do this 100% on point. Now add the hurt and pain that is converted to rage and resentment multipled by 10x. Then add the anxiety and fear.... This is at critical mass. Is this the guy who remoted the ied? If this the guy who set the timing markers? Is it the guy who just dropped your friend? Is it his brother? Is it his friend? Revenge is a strong thing... but this buck Sargent was able to be in that situation in a bubble... to not let all of that emotional cocktail make him squeeze off... or run up and skull fuck him with his helmet in a blind rage. He was able to soldier through that and fell confident enough to make a call that honestly could have gotten his whole team killed... but he did it without all of those human mental tornadoes turning him into the evil he is fighting against. If he does what he honestly wants to do at the jump... regardless of the post mortem results of the car search etc... as soon as he lets that pitbull off the chain in his brain... what is he?
That makes him the terrorist. He just committed the same acts and likely for the same reasons.
