Looking at these things I thought they looked thin, but they feel pretty solid and sturdy on. I certainly felt no flex going through. In freeplay neither of us found them obtrusive and if sized correctly (they fit my neck perfectly) there is no discomfort, or displacement of the mask by pressure on the bib.
Also for full disclosure, we have had two of these in the academy (direct from Vytis) since last year, and with the exception of the tearing issue with the insert, which I hope is now sorted, they function very well.

Yes, you can adjust the fit by warming the plastic in hot water and re-shaping it.

I using the early version that looks like a light one. So far so good, got some solid longsword neck thrusts without any problems. I like it more than my old DM. Takes some time to get used to it but now it is quite comfy.

You would get more versatility from the big one, since you can untie the elastic straps and make it into the small one.
