  • @ovationpdh

It was painted this way back in 2005. I doubt very seriously it was done this way in anticipation of pulling a funeral train. It debuted at the same time UP released a series of "heritage" SD70ACe locomotives. Each was painted in a special paint scheme to represent railroads that have merged into the Union Pacific over the years. The 4141 did see freight service initially, but most of its life has been spent in covered storage.

The engine is owned, and has always been owned by Union Pacific Railroad. It was, and is, a standard engine and was used by the railroad. In 2005 Union Pacific painted it in the scheme you see in the video. They painted it to be displayed at the Bush Presidential Library along with a display about the historic contribution of railroads to the United States. After being on display at the library, the engine was put back into service on the railroad, and the Bush paint scheme was kept. The 2008 economic crises caused the Union Pacific to pull some engines out of service, and 4141 was one of them. If I understand correctly, it had been put back in service a while ago, still with the special paint scheme. And then a few days ago it was used to carry former president Bush to his final resting place.

I was saying if we don't remember our history and The lessons learned from it we are doomed to repeat it also FYI I am fine with him being voted out but what the Democratic party is doing now! I am not alright with it also the company that owned and painted it is free to donate any locomotive they wished and it was for the dedication of the George Bush library that they painted the locomotive and named/numbered it [I'm quite frankly surprised that the company that ran the funeral train for Lincoln did not donate it but then again they probably believed that he would still be remembered which he has [he says slightly starting to ramble] also question whom/what donated the locomotive in your opinion cause it was Union Pacific who purchased it painted it and donated it in my opinion and I am certainly not fine with people disrespecting him when he can't defend himself
