You never know how your journey will evolve, and just because your taste in styles may change, you can usually STILL make a wig work with styling!

When I hang a long wig, wet can be heavy. I feared the elastic would stretch around the cap, if hung by the tag. I put the ear tabs together and close the clamp over both.

Denise! You have no idea how effective and beautiful you are, inside and out! This video, like all your videos, are SUPER helpful, always encouraging, always supportive of all of us, whether autoimmune challenged, curious, frustrated, ready to give up, or just ready to take the leap of faith. You come across as a real gal, the kind of person we all want to be our best friend, whether based on a wig connection or just a friend connection. Please keep doing your videos with whatever kind of wigs are striking your fancy. There’s something to be learned from every video you post! If there were a university that had courses in wig wearing, you’d be the most sought-after professor and your classes would be oversubscribed! Thank you for all of it, don’t give up, you are doing the work of many professions, all rolled into one fine wig ambassador: therapist, pariente advocate, teacher, hairstylist, professional friend. Brava, Denise. There are many good wig reviewers and I watch them all, but you put your heart on the line in every video and I know, I KNOW, we all appreciate you and send you love.

Hi Denise, I am a new wig wearer and I just want you to know how much your videos have helped me through this journey. You are such a HUGE blessing and encouragement! I wish I could tell you what a difference you’ve made. All your tips, tricks and beginner videos and helpful documentation, etc. has been GREATLY appreciated! I have struggled with hair loss since my early 20’s and it got to a point I could no longer hide it and I ran into several rude people (including those I worked with) who pointed it out to me as if I didn’t know and wasn’t trying to cover it up…so I started wearing hats from then on…I’ve worn hats for over 20 yrs until now…About 6-7yrs back I did try a topper but the clips KILLED me…I never could get that to work for me and I tried so hard…So far…this has been amazing! Thank you so much for all your wonderful help and advice. 😊

Denise, you are awesome and your videos are always helpful. Don’t ever think one is silly, we learn something from every video. As for the crying, that’s just human, nothing to be ashamed of. I have fibromyalgia and I sometimes cry out of the blue. Last night on the news there was a story of a little league batter that got hit in the head. He was hurt, but got up and finished. He was on first base, and the pitcher that had thrown the ball was visibly upset. The boy on first base went over to the mound and hugged the (opposite team) pitcher to make him feel better. I cried for over five minutes! Just normal for many of us. God bless you, and hope your flare goes away soon. 💕💕💕

Please don't apologize for being real. One reason that I love your videos so much is that you don't go back and "fix" your "mistakes." Last Sunday I was scheduled to sing for the special music in church. I asked a friend to pray for me because my allergies were acting up and I was afraid my voice would cut out in the middle of the song. He said, "Well, if it does, then that's the way the Spirit wants to move." What a wise man! My voice did get weak after the second verse, so I just let the pianist play through the chorus without me, then came back and sang the chorus to finish up. It highlighted the pianist's God-given talent and no one knew that it wasn't practiced that way. You bless many people with sharing from your heart. Please don't stop now! We love you just the way you are!

I need you, I am 55 yrs old, my body just fell into full menopause lost my breast mass, lots more hair (already seeing signs of alopecia my mom too) and it is hard to see yourself age and onto loose the battle with alopecia.
I just got tired of hiding it via hairstyles like the comb over but it is too far gone on the crown. I didn't want to be the elephant that everyone can see and feel pity, like I did with my mom.
I shaved my head 2 weeks ago and never thought wigs would be a good fit and just accept my baldness and move on.
I find it so liberating and free and love it shaved but I can't lie to myself, I feel like I look like a worm or old man and wat to feel feminine again.
Your videos gave me hope and I am addicted to them now hahaha.
I am shocked these wigs you recommend are so affordable and doable.
I can feel like a woman again and not an aging has been trying to feel pretty.
Thank you so much and showing your human is just proving your authentication...
May God Be With you and his Angels Always on your Journey.

You are spot on the money, Denise. First, women are devastated with this problem of thinning hair and losing their hair. Second, the beginning journey of wearing wigs is challenging; especially when you order a wig on line. You get it and you are often so disappointed. I think I am going to have to try to find a good wig shop in my area to visit. I know the markup on the wigs will be considerable; but, sending wigs back and paying restocking fees at online wig stores and return shipping fees gets very expensive.
Another big problem with wigs that I have read about many times in reviews is the variability of a particular wig (where women keep purchasing a wig they like) and the wigs not looking at all like the pictures of the wigs online. I think the wigs for pictures in the online stores are trimmed, styled, steamed and product is used to style them by stylists. What are your thoughts on these issues; how do you deal with it?
Thanks for another excellent video. I understand you getting emotional. Just feel good that you are helping a lot of women with how you share what you have learned.

Hi, Denise! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with wigs. You have helped me so much! I used your link and bought the Hot Tools Hot Air Brush from Amazon. It really helped me get the style of my wigs so much closer to what I want. By the way, I also got an inexpensive Amazon wig and I can't believe how good it is!! (I already had 3 Raquel Welch wigs!)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    Thank you for tip Tuesday.
I have a question, did you store the wig inside out when you put it in the bag? Does it make a difference?

    • @heywigsister

You know, this is a GREAT question! Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I honestly do not know how much of a difference it really makes... I'm tempted to say it doesn't really matter but some manufacturers send wigs inside out and so there must be some value on certain styles... I really haven't noticed a difference myself, though.

I consider the cap design and style. On my Ellen Wille Turn inside out was noticeably better for the fibres.

Hello Denise! I was wondering if it is safe to putting my wigs in a plastic bag. I have so many and not enough storage place. Right now I have so many and don't want to part with them. I still have them in there original boxes that they came in. I need good advice. You have some really beautiful wigs so I know you would have good advice for me. I love all of your videos and I pray that your health issues will be better soon. Lol,Deborah

I store mine in them and they do just fine..... the 2 main concerns are static and trapping in the smell if the wig isn't washed before storing. I recommend putting a dryer sheet in the bag to help with both of those... you can get unscented if you are sensitive to scent. I'm with you on the storage space so I store them in plastic bags and then those bags in plastic totes. Here is a video I did on this: ua-cam.com/video/a11FjNaYzyg/v-deo.html

How often do you sell your own wigs? I know that’s a strange question, but to be honest because of my income I need to find quality wigs that are affordable for myself. I hope you understand. Thank you

    • @heywigsister

Not strange at all! I honestly should sell them more often than I do, but it is time issue for me. I do post wigs on my website periodically, and actually have probably about 20 that I need to list right now. Once we get my daughter moved into college next weekend I hope to start getting some listed. You can subscribe to emails at my website and you will be notified whenever I list one. @@heywigsister Thank you for responding. I really don’t think I’ve ever been so interested in wigs until these past couple of years. But I see how wonderful they are for those that truly have hair loss for so many reasons. I’m not Suffering from anything more serious than just wanting to take care of myself the best I can for as long as I can. I refuse to let myself go. 73 has its downsides. Thanks Denice for being so transparent and inspirational. Mb
