This is a brilliantly created TR level. I throughly enjoyed the whole thing 🥰👍A wonderful mix or Buddhist/Asian cultures, with stunning level design, well thought out puzzles and story. Humourous too! The bit with the flatulent yaks and monk stuck between floorboards with a macdonalds meal was both hilarious and unexpected 😆 Overall it looked incredibly fun to play. Thanks Steven for another fantastic video playthrough.

This map really pushes the game formula of tomb raider. its just such an interesting take on it and the themes it explores. a really fun watch and amazing to see what great content the TRLE community still pumps out

I hope someone hasn't said it already but, can we take a second to admire that you'd think the builder would choose a much more HQ outfit to match the surrounds - yet they've opted for (a very fitting!!) Tr1 bun and TR2 bomber jacket combo. It doesn't get any more Tomb Raider than that. I cant wait to download this!! 😍

11:30 the optical illusion is so cool, the fact this map was mad on such an old engine is really impressive you can tell how much time was taken with all the details
Oh my, can we talk about that ending scene with the wolf. It sent shivers down my spine. To see Lara, on the very first cave of TR1, healing one of the first beasts she shot on the whole franchise (In the FMV at least) was so symbolic and an icing on the cake of incredible references to past adventure. This is how you proper celebrate TR25.
Absolutely brilliant level design & mechanics! This once again shows us what the (modded) TR engine is capable of, excellent scripting, programming done here! Wow
Omg this level is just everything in one. Quirky, whimsical, deep, touching and difficult to conquer. Amazing!!! Like a wierd fever dream where she save the wolf in the end. I loved that. The scene that i thought i never needed but always wanted. Closure like this is strange. Thank you for this journey. I hope there will more like these made. So full of substance. Cheers.

i know ive already commented but after the second rewatch of this level i swear is the best ones of all of the trle levels. the colours the concept the humour! its just so spot on. it really conveys the vibe the creator wanted to give to us. i even like the daoist motiff. I understand the choice as well daoism is much more accessible then tibetan buddhist texts and tennets. meditation on the loo is just cherry on the top! hilarious. i also like that this is a hard level the secrets are very well hidden! and i love that all areas are accessible all the time so you can go back if you missed anything.

Yesssss! Back in the time that Core Design doesn't have lots of good resources and new editor engine. Builders are sharing their own Customized objects on TR search, which is good for every builders. They are not building alone. More like a good support from them 😊😊😊

as INCREDIBLY GOOD as this custom level is, I still have to say that almost all of the puzzles at the lowest level of the monastery are incomprehensible. Without a guide like this one, I couldn't figure out in a thousand years what to do. or maybe I'm blunt
No, you're not. It took me a long tim to figure out anything except for the hints from the monk. The rest is quite complicated and have to figure out yourself 😴 But anyway, this is an excellent level. Nothing else for me to say 💯💯💯😀

I got stuck so early on. Great to see how it's done. btw, using the switch in the yak barn as "top", shoot the crate stacks in order: top right, top left, bottom right, bottom left (or if that doesn't work, try the bottom two the other way, but that's definitely the order for the top ones). The middle stack can then be shot to reveal a large medipack.

I found the solution now: once she lets go of the bar, you have to let go of the forward key - which is not intuitive at all (at least for me), since the jump WITH the forward key is already too short 😅. But I am not so good at TR master jumps, I am good at discovering and I find my way in the original games, so with these jumps a lot of custom levels are too hard for me, unfortunately. Other question: you said this level is in your top 5 of 2021, and you rate it with a 9. I would like to know - which ones are the other 4 😳? Which would be a 10? Unfortunately, I did not follow your videos in the past months.

@@stevenPCGaming I pulled the jump switch after pushing the button and heading to get the torch. Just run and jump to it I went ahead and pulled it then went to the cave for the torch. I'm on my way back after getting the shotgun. That was a tough jump.

I dont understand why this runs like garbage for me. I can run GTA V at full settings in the middle of the city and have 100 FPS. This runs at like 5 fps when I look at the main center of the map???? like wtf. I cant enable this program to use more CPU cores either. it makes no sense to me. I've tried all the app settings.
That's the old problem on TRLE levels. Putting too much static objects will cause the performance drop, the only way to do is to reduce draw distance. I dunno if running on high frequency will help improving the performance 😅
darling @Steven3517 you should level up your tomb raider videos and start doing commentary and a little bit more click baity tittles. i want your channel to gain more traffic. everyone needs extra cash these days. you already put in so much effort all game plays are seemlessly done with beautiful precision jumps but push it a little more. ppl eat up commentary channels with a ladel. (very large spoon) do it! you could even redo some of your old favourite runs with commentary. like for example what you think of the level dinamic, a funny rating system so we can see if we wanna play said level or not, just thoughts in general about tomb raider, whatever comes to mind. i wouldn't even mind if you'd put out the non commentary version as well. theres a channel called carcinogen (numbers that i dont remember well after his name) he does speedruns of various games and hes commentary versions are way way more popular (what an ugly word this is) you could even add some fails at the end to show how hard a particular jump was and how your cursing in the background. i know how very difficult old tomb raiders are. ive just booted up the maria doria remake level and it took me 3 hours of cursing to get back into the routine of the jump pacing. in the old days i used to play tombraiders one handed! so i hope you read this and consider it. sending you lots of love!
This was SUCH a joy to witness / experience. I smiggled at the humour, loved the Taoist references and appreciate the authenticity of it all. I have so much praise because it resonates :) This neat little level had wisdom and meaning to share, and I felt the introspection of it (and that ending!) gave us glimpses into Lara's depth and her possible beliefs that make her so utterly chill, unwavering and why she lives life fully. We did see some of these clues in TR4 Angkor Wat and the first TR Movie... Thank you for the play-through Steven, and thank you Loch and the community for creating this absolute work of art!
Loch exposed an easter egg on trle.net forum as follows: "And being so longs since its been out I thought it won't hurt to reveal a couple easter eggs: If anyone does return to the monastery and wants to discover something new it may be of interest that there is a small extension to the story's ending after Lara has finished in the shower at the normal end of the level. You will have to of acquired the secret and the item under it sitting on the bathroom table in order to reach it however. ;) It was in the original version but I've improved on it a little bit in this one. Also the F1-F12 keys can be used in the title screen for some additional tomfoolery " Do you manage to find them? Have you kept a appropriate savegame near game end? If you do, would you share with me? I really like to see the easter egg. I wonder if he means the outfit change mini quest?
Loch has replied. It's not that mini quest. The reply is as follows: " Hey Scottchu, Apologies I haven't gotten back to you sooner here! I havent been check'n in as much. :blush: Here's the savegame: drive.google.com/file/d/16BuVET ... sp=sharing The outfit change is just an easter egg. If you grab that second mysterious artifact from the bathroom table at the end of the level ( It's underneath the secret pickup ) you can teleport back to the old tomb and find a use for it somewhere around there. :wink: ". I will get back that ending to see what I missed.

At 21:23 you don't pull the jump switch hidden in the leaves to the left of Lara. Is that on purpose? This is where I am.
you have to use the torch to burn the leaves before being able to use that jump switch 😉

I dont understand why this runs like garbage for me. I can run GTA V at full settings in the middle of the city and have 100 FPS. This runs at like 5 fps when I look at the main center of the map???? like wtf. I cant enable this program to use more CPU cores either. it makes no sense to me. I've tried all the app settings.
That's the old problem on TRLE levels. Putting too much static objects will cause the performance drop, the only way to do is to reduce draw distance. I dunno if running on high frequency will help improving the performance 😅

darling @Steven3517 you should level up your tomb raider videos and start doing commentary and a little bit more click baity tittles. i want your channel to gain more traffic. everyone needs extra cash these days. you already put in so much effort all game plays are seemlessly done with beautiful precision jumps but push it a little more. ppl eat up commentary channels with a ladel. (very large spoon) do it! you could even redo some of your old favourite runs with commentary. like for example what you think of the level dinamic, a funny rating system so we can see if we wanna play said level or not, just thoughts in general about tomb raider, whatever comes to mind. i wouldn't even mind if you'd put out the non commentary version as well. theres a channel called carcinogen (numbers that i dont remember well after his name) he does speedruns of various games and hes commentary versions are way way more popular (what an ugly word this is) you could even add some fails at the end to show how hard a particular jump was and how your cursing in the background. i know how very difficult old tomb raiders are. ive just booted up the maria doria remake level and it took me 3 hours of cursing to get back into the routine of the jump pacing. in the old days i used to play tombraiders one handed! so i hope you read this and consider it. sending you lots of love!

This was SUCH a joy to witness / experience. I smiggled at the humour, loved the Taoist references and appreciate the authenticity of it all. I have so much praise because it resonates :)
This neat little level had wisdom and meaning to share, and I felt the introspection of it (and that ending!) gave us glimpses into Lara's depth and her possible beliefs that make her so utterly chill, unwavering and why she lives life fully. We did see some of these clues in TR4 Angkor Wat and the first TR Movie...

Don't get it wrong, that was never shown in the game. I edited myself for letting ppl know what level am I currently at. 😅😅

If anyone does return to the monastery and wants to discover something new it may be of interest that there is a small extension to the story's ending after Lara has finished in the shower at the normal end of the level. You will have to of acquired the secret and the item under it sitting on the bathroom table in order to reach it however. ;) It was in the original version but I've improved on it a little bit in this one.
Also the F1-F12 keys can be used in the title screen for some additional tomfoolery "

The outfit change is just an easter egg. If you grab that second mysterious artifact from the bathroom table at the end of the level ( It's underneath the secret pickup ) you can teleport back to the old tomb and find a use for it somewhere around there. :wink: ". I will get back that ending to see what I missed.
