You should check out Mike Mangini (the drummer) playing along to their grammy winning song "the alien".. he is an alien to play like that, they all are really.
This is one of their more commercial tracks. It's very much more standard than their catalog. If you want to be really impressed with their abilities, you should check out The Dance of Eternity. Or, conversely, the band Liquid Tension Experiment (which is the guitarist, keyboardist and drummer from Dream Theater with Tony Levin on bass) playing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue live.
First , to answer your question, the guitarist is John Petrucci, a founding member of the band. Song is from their 13th album, The Astonishing, a 34 track concept album, this is track #32. Haven't heard anything from this record in a while. The last song you did is from the upcoming new album, the first since the return of drummer Mike Portnoy after 13 years. This album came out in 2016, and is 1 of the 5 records with Mike Mangini on drums. There is another version of this song featuring Lzzy Hale from Halestorm, but it's also a shorter version. Lead singer Jams LaBrie's vocal issues were from an incident back in 1994 where he ruptured his vocal chords due to vomiting caused by food poisoning. So, if you want to hear him at full vocal capacity, suggest going back to the 1992 2nd album, Images and Words, with songs like "Metropolis Part 1", "Pull Me Under", and "Under A Glass Moon".
Dear Bob! Thanks for this reaction, I really enjoyed it! I would like you to do a reaction to the DT song: Breaking All Illusions - live. I am 100% sure you will like it. That live performance is amazing! A journey full of surprises and... real musical art.
Dream Theater is arguably the greatest Prog Rock/Metal band of all time! Their musicianship is absolutely 2nd to none and songwriting is very profound! Check out their 12 Step Suite series of 5 songs written by founding drummer Mike Portnoy as he dealt with and overcame alcoholism. 1. “The Glass Prison” 2. “This Dying Soul” 3. “The Root of all Evil” 4. “Repentance” 5. “The Shattered Fortress” Loving your experience into the Dream Theater world!

Hey Bob, I recently gave you a super thanks ($15 AU) but I accidentally deleted the comment 🤦♂️ I wanted to say that I've been enjoying your reactions for a bit over a year now, I'm a huge The Warning fan 😁 I would really love to start a new rabbit hole journey with you just like you did with The Warning but with a band called 'Dynazty'. They have a new album coming out in February so it would be a great time to start! Nils Molin the lead singer has an incredible voice that has insane range of high and low but he can also throw in some rasp at times. The band also consists of 2 guitarists Love Magnusson and Mike Lavér who will literally blow you away with the best solo's your ears will ever hear and Jonathan Olsson on the bass and Georg Härnsten Egg on the drums. These guys aren't as big as they should be but with your help I think we can build a bigger and better fanbase for these talented musicians! If you could start off with the title track of the new album 'Game of Faces' that would be absolutely amazing and then we will go from there! Hope to see the reaction soon 😊
Thanks for the Super Thanks! I'll add then to the list. No guarantees about the reaction though. So glad you are enjoying the videos and I’m trying to get a new The Warning video recorded so that should be out soon.

You should go back to all masterpiece epics by DT in the era before Portnoy departure. It's way better than the hiatus Mangini era, and also a lot better than what we are seeing on the new DT era: Portnoy's return.
Hi there, actually, to appreciate fully what they play, is to listen to their whole albums, indeed, each one is some kind of book, and when U listen to one song, it's as if U pick some random book page. U will appreciate it, but U won't see the bigger picture. Just my advice, I know it takes time to react to a whole CD but it's really worth it. I'm fan of DT since 1994, and I still have not listened to their 2 last new songs, for that reason. 'Just waiting for the whole thing, and the collector I ordered months ago ;-)
Yeah, it’s sometimes a bit strange how a song doesn’t suit a person for no particular reason. I do get the nice guitar work, might be vocals for me. I always appreciate musicians, they all have more talent in their pinky than I do lol.

Wow that stinks about the ruptured vocal chord from food poisoning. He’s got a great voice. I’m hooked on this one right now. I’ve got it on loop.

The guitarist? Mr John Petrucci!!😁

Funny timing of you saying the drummer is laying down here. On the couch. 6:45
Not in the couch laying the beat down.

Not to bad. sounds good harmony. The riff just makes me want them to get along with it.
If you are going to react to more Dream Theater, my favorite band of all time, you have a new subscriber here...😃😃
Just started to explore their music and so far it’s been amazing. This song is on looo for me right now. Incredible.
The main vibe of the song is a bar of 4/4 followed by a bar of 7/8.
That makes total sense. It had that feel.

Go older to hear even more mastery!!!👌🏼

@@bobcieslinski My pleasure bro !
May i please suggest Temple of Circadia by John Petrucci from his solo album. IT IS ABSOLUTELY BONKERS AND INSANE!! 😮😮👍
react "2020 em uma musica" please. You have no idea what this multi-instrumentalist does.
I'm probably the lone wolf, lol, but just not my genre of music.
For some reason it resonated with me. I’ve been listening to this one a lot lately.

@ more than me too. 😂
