It's tough to see everything you have destroyed but you have your life your parents, your home is relatively intact. A lot of people lost everything some their lives.
In the Asheville, n.c. area ( Candler, N.C. to be exact) for people that was or is w/o electricity in the area is; I heart fm. radio 99.9 They have been giving out VITAL Information since power was down. Be safe mark.

Yeah the people saying that are the people who have never lost everything they’ve ever owned. Thankfully I’m not in a hard hit state like these people but I have lost everything I’ve owned twice in my life both times due to fire and when I say everything, I mean I didn’t have anything but the clothes I put on that morning, and the pajamas I was wearing that night the second time. I can’t imagine loosing your family and for the ones who survived, them loosing their stuff too. I wish I had the means to get down there and help because I would leave the Maine Canada boarders tonight and come help. If anyone has a suggestion as to how anyone in my situation who doesn’t have funds, could still help from where we are please let me know so I can start, and also spread the word along. Cuz there’s a lot of us like me who want to help and just don’t know how we can from where we are physically and financially.

seeing how high the water got in your hanger is UNREAL. Glad you and your family are safe. Seems like the museum got fairly lucky considering. That Steerman cutout is modeled after the N2S-5 my grandfather rebuilt and was on display for a number of years there. It is currently privatly owned and in Europe somewhere, but I'm glad they still have the cutout as homage to it.

From barely 3 hours away near Fayetteville NC, I'm praying for all of you who were affected. We had a historic flood in VT in July of 2023 and many lost everything (before my husband and I got stationed here in Dec 2023). It's never easy. My thoughts are with you all.

Greetings from Kingsport Tn Mark. I'm not even into aviation but stumbled on your channel during the tragic event in your area. Just know everyone here in East Tn and Southwest Va are praying for everyone affected. I know your channel is just for flying but hopefully you will pick up many more subscribers from your great, honest storm coverage. I encourage you to keep putting out some content to keep us informed on how thing are going and the progress of building back. I went back and watched some of your videos and thoroughly enjoyed and plan on watching more. Very informative and educational with beautiful scenery. m
I was working at Lock Haven (W.T. Piper Airfield) during the visit from the June 1972 Tropical Storm Agnes. We had 12 feet of water in the hangar. 171 planes were there and suffered varying degrees of inundation. So I was involved in the clean up of the facility and then we got to cleaning up some of the planes. The FAA said that Piper could not sell any planes that were damaged, to be certified to fly in this country, but planes that had been test flown could be repaired/restored for export only. So we sent one Aztec to Africa and around 20 to South America. The first thing to do is drain the engines and preserve them before sending them to overhaul. Then we got electric power washers and affixed longer wands (pipes about 8 feet long) so we could reach into the wings. We washed with clean water and soap then rinsed until clear water came out. Good luck Mark, but I recommend tearing those motors apart, and how do you know what was in the water that got into your hangars? We had a chemical company upstream and that was what made the FAA leery about unknown damage. What about those chutes? Why take the chance? If you had any insurance, please raise these issues with their agent, and maybe have him confer with the FAA.

I subscribed a few years ago for the paramotor videos. I never thought you would have to put these catastrophic videos of the North Carolina Mountains. Its really sad to see. Found your channel when I saw the video you posed yesterday with the interview, went through the other videos you posted of the storm and aftermath... I used to live in Florida, and still the devistation here boggles the mind. It's honestly still hard to believe but seeing how bad the flooding was before the hurricane it was going to be bad no matter how strong the storm was.
Lucky you could get out Mark. And you are safe, stuff can be replaced. Sounds like it was 9 feet or so in the hangar. You are a good man Mark and thank you for letting me and others see what happened there. Having been to the mountains and roads along the streams, you showed us a world of hurt in a kind and empathetic way. And your post was helpful, too. Will be thinking of you all. Ya have a young family, and a can do attitude and a heart to assist others. You have no reason to feel ashamed for giving us a look at your life and livelihood. Without your camera and willingness of heart, millions worldwide would not know the depth of complicity in this "Event". If I was in the US, I'd be catching up with ya just to say thank you. I'm not fond of heights, but those machines do look like fun.

My guess is...that even if your stuff was 100% OKAY, there will be fewer customers or tourists for a while. Hope you can survive that You seem like a smart guy...so thanks for keeping people in the know about things around you in this area.
I am glad you and your family are okay, and your business will recover in time. I grew up in those mountains and my heart is breaking. I'm in Colorado at the foot of the Rockies now, but Appalachia is where my heart lives.

I am at the NC coast and we've been through multiple floods in the last 15 years and it is such a terrible feeling when you open the door and see all your stuff moved around like that. The only thing worse is when it is salt water, then its a total loss. Praying for you all out there.
I get it, I know people will say at least your okay, but my heart still aches for all the personal items that all these folks have lost. Memories and items still carry a place in our hearts and all the photos. I'm still impressed with the sheer determination and community
Good job Mark you at least got in there and started to clear that stuff out. Time is a wasting and there is no insurance that's going to make you whole. Every one of those engines is salvageable if you get in there clean them out and then throw some good oil in the cylinders and get everything lubed before you get them all running again. You can salvage so much. Heck I imagine once you get those fired up it's not that far for you to be out there and helping locate people and things. I wish people would get out there and clear the roads by themselves and not wait for the authorities. If they had a saw they could go ahead and start cutting up and moving stuff off the road. I'm sure if people had the attitude they don't need the authorities to tell him it's okay they could do better for themselves. Many prayers for blessings and best wishes for you all up there. Thanks. I knew flooding was going to be colossal, worse than 1916 as I was watching the river gauges beforehand, just not at the airport.

I was working at Lock Haven (W.T. Piper Airfield) during the visit from the June 1972 Tropical Storm Agnes. We had 12 feet of water in the hangar. 171 planes were there and suffered varying degrees of inundation. So I was involved in the clean up of the facility and then we got to cleaning up some of the planes. The FAA said that Piper could not sell any planes that were damaged, to be certified to fly in this country, but planes that had been test flown could be repaired/restored for export only. So we sent one Aztec to Africa and around 20 to South America. The first thing to do is drain the engines and preserve them before sending them to overhaul. Then we got electric power washers and affixed longer wands (pipes about 8 feet long) so we could reach into the wings. We washed with clean water and soap then rinsed until clear water came out. Good luck Mark, but I recommend tearing those motors apart, and how do you know what was in the water that got into your hangars? We had a chemical company upstream and that was what made the FAA leery about unknown damage. What about those chutes? Why take the chance? If you had any insurance, please raise these issues with their agent, and maybe have him confer with the FAA.

Found your channel when I saw the video you posed yesterday with the interview, went through the other videos you posted of the storm and aftermath... I used to live in Florida, and still the devistation here boggles the mind. It's honestly still hard to believe but seeing how bad the flooding was before the hurricane it was going to be bad no matter how strong the storm was.
Lucky you could get out Mark. And you are safe, stuff can be replaced. Sounds like it was 9 feet or so in the hangar. You are a good man Mark and thank you for letting me and others see what happened there. Having been to the mountains and roads along the streams, you showed us a world of hurt in a kind and empathetic way. And your post was helpful, too. Will be thinking of you all. Glad a good bit of your stuff survived too.

Ya have a young family, and a can do attitude and a heart to assist others. You have no reason to feel ashamed for giving us a look at your life and livelihood. My guess is...that even if your stuff was 100% OKAY, there will be fewer customers or tourists for a while. Hope you can survive that You seem like a smart guy...so thanks for keeping people in the know about things around you in this area.
I am glad you and your family are okay, and your business will recover in time. I grew up in those mountains and my heart is breaking. I'm in Colorado at the foot of the Rockies now, but Appalachia is where my heart lives.

I am at the NC coast and we've been through multiple floods in the last 15 years and it is such a terrible feeling when you open the door and see all your stuff moved around like that. The only thing worse is when it is salt water, then its a total loss. Praying for you all out there.

Good job Mark you at least got in there and started to clear that stuff out. Time is a wasting and there is no insurance that's going to make you whole. Every one of those engines is salvageable if you get in there clean them out and then throw some good oil in the cylinders and get everything lubed before you get them all running again. You can salvage so much. Heck I imagine once you get those fired up it's not that far for you to be out there and helping locate people and things. I wish people would get out there and clear the roads by themselves and not wait for the authorities. If they had a saw they could go ahead and start cutting up and moving stuff off the road. I'm sure if people had the attitude they don't need the authorities to tell him it's okay they could do better for themselves. Many prayers for blessings and best wishes for you all up there. No I haven't but the solar/battery powered cellular camera will capture them. That's how I got flooding footage
