    Seems like ATC wasn't calling out the runway along with the clearances for takeoff and landing like they do in America, do they not do this in Australia?

    • @joshkaye3984
      @joshkaye3984 5 років тому +2

      The runways have different frequencies, so 35R is on 118.1 and 35L is on 123.0, so it is known which runway we're landing on. Unless one of the controllers is taking care of both runways they don't say the runway

    • @mkeane17
      @mkeane17 5 років тому +1

      @@joshkaye3984 I've only heard of that reason for large commercial airports where theres something like a north / south tower that control different runways (at least in the US), usually at a small airport like this all runways are under one tower controller so they are expected to say the runway number with every clearance so theres no confusion for the pilot about which runway hes supposed to use. Idk tho, maybe its more common to have different runway frequencies for small airports in Australia?

    • @joshkaye3984
      @joshkaye3984 5 років тому +1

      @@Koyague under the australian aip when parallel runways at class d airports are in use and they have different frequencies, saying the runway is actually omitted, so in moorabbin's case all they have to say is cleared to land when using both frequencies

    • @frankiefx7682
      @frankiefx7682 5 років тому +1

      I fly at Archerfield Airport in Brisbane and we always state the runway to avoid any confusion.

    Hey nick! As far as I remember, you graduated from an integrated flight training or cadetship, right? Upon graduating, did you have to do IR/ME or was it included in the training? After ATPL theory and the cadetship completed, wouldn't that make you a F/O? How come you are a S/O - is it because of the hours?

    Hey Nick!! I have a question!! When ure communicating with the ATC, do u guys talk in normal sentences or use memorised code words?? Btw I luv ure vlogs M8!!!!!👍🏾👍🏾

    • @HAWK13ize
      @HAWK13ize 5 років тому

      AliCantona for circuits there are a set of general transmissions made and they don’t vary too much depending on where you fly. For example when turning onto downwind, Nick says “Bravo Sierra Victor, turning downwind, touch and go”. The tower will respond with traffic information like “Bravo Sierra Victor follow the Cessna on late downwind” or just say ‘number 1’ in the sequence if you have no one in front of you to spot. It’s always good practice and for added safety to confirm the runway number that your are turning downwind for as well because there are a multiple runways. There are also final calls as well which clears you to actually land, if you don’t receive this call at a controlled/ towered aerodrome than you should not land and should either make a call to the tower to get clearance or if that is unsuccessful than execute a go around.

    • @alicantona432

      HAWK MEDIA so I will definitely learn all this when i enroll myself in the flying school?
