So disappointed in this segment. I expect this kind of victim blaming from Meghan & Abby. Even Whoopi, since she has a tendency to defend close Hollywood friends who did awful things. But Joy was ridiculous here. A judge reviewed all the evidence and found probable cause to press criminal charges against Woody, only choosing not to do so because the process would further traumatize Dylan. Woody Allen is nowhere close to exonerated. To imply that it was case closed, he didn’t do it, is so ridiculous. Thankfully Sunny was there to push back. She’s really becoming the last saving grace of this show for me.

I have a question...is looking at both sides victim blaming? All Joy said is that while Woody is creepy (and it doesn't sound like she is a fan) the evidence provided did not support the claim and that the story is a little complicated. Sonny continued with counterarguments to Joy's points. I personally don't support Woody anymore on my own intuition...but I can't act like I know what happened and I don't think people who dare look at the investigation should be accused of "victim-blaming." Why do you keep pointing to there being “no medical” evidence. The vast majority of child molesters commit acts that would not leave “medical evidence” of the abuse. There is no evidence when abusers perform many acts on the child or make the child do various things to them. Claiming someone was exonerated because you don’t see any sign of rape (a rare act in child molestation) is ignorant and shows you are ignorant about child abuse.
Allen was not exonerated for a lack of 'medical evidence'. He was exonerated because two independent teams of child abuse experts concluded that Dylan was *not* a credible victim. She told many different, inconsistent versions, including denials, and told in a way that appeared 'coached' or 'rehearsed'. Furthermore, there was a lack of credible evidence of any nature, making a trial sure to fail. Read the prosecutor's decision. The lack of evidence and lack of a credible witness were the main reasons why he chose to *not* prosecute Allen. Mia supported that decision. Her excuse was that she did not want to put her young daughter on the stand. That was an absurd excuse, as a criminal trial in CT would not require to put the child on the stand. Furthermore, Mia and the prosecutor had just dragged 'fragile Dylan' through FOURTEEN MONTHS of investigations, physical and mental examinations, interview sessions, what have you - and now they "can go to trial", suddenly ONE hearing would be too much for "fragile Dylan" to PUT HER ABUSER away? The very idea is utterly absurd.

I myself have had many criticisms with the metoo movement, but on the issue of Woody Allen I cannot support him. But the two events are often conflated because of the timing of Mia Farrow's accusation, which was right after she found out that Woody Allen was having a relationship with her 18 year old daughter Soon Yi. Soon Yi is the adopted daughter of Mia and composer Andre Previn. She was never adopted by Woody Allen, and rarely saw him when she was young. On the other hand, shortly before that revelation, Mia has insisted that Woody Allen co-adopt Dylan along with her brother Moses, who has sided with Woody in this dispute. There is ample reason to believe that Mia wanted revenge on Allen, the man she had dated for almost two decades, for having an affair with her daughter (whom he has now been married to for over 2 decades). He can adopt children, because the original testimony involving the Dylan case was deemed implausible and manipulated. Allen has not ever been convicted of a crime here and on top of that no other allegations of abuse have ever come forward which is unusual in cases of true child attackers.

As noted on the show, Dylan's case was examined for six months and the conclusion was that she had not been sexually assaulted. So the idea that Soon Yi was "being groomed" as some are saying, is ridiculous, because she was not the alleged victim. No one else has ever come forward with an allegation of abuse from Allen, which is not the case with most predators. Particularly high-profile child predators. Think of Michael Jackson. A lot of people believe Jackson was guilty because the accusations were persistent and there were multiple claims over many years. And there is a lot of evidence (perhaps circumstantial) that he was at the very least too close to the kids who visited him. None of that is the case with Woody Allen.

I disagree. As heinous as child sexual abuse accusations are, it is imperative to investigate the accusations from all angles, understanding (not denying or blindly believing) the accusations and understanding Woody Allen's defense (not denying or believing as well). Then use testimonies, any evidence, logic, and perspective to get as close to the truth as you can. If you don't know any party personally affiliated with this case, you only have the accusations and your personal opinions, which isn't evidence of anything. Children lie, women lie, and men lie. And yet, all those same people are capable of telling the truth. The challenge with ANY case is to determine who is lying and who isn't. I'm more focused on the truth, whichever side it aligns with.
The #MeToo movement started as women sharing their stories of sexual abuse and harassment. Of course this information is damaging to the accused and it is in the best interest of these people to warp the perception of others saying "it has gone too far" and "these women can lie" etc. Listening to both sides is crucial to form a critical assessment. You just have to remember that there has been a historical bias to put women's perspectives down.

Authorities have a historically bad track record of identifying cases of sexual assault, especially in cases that were investigated 10+ years ago. A physical examination may show no signs of sexual abuse, but sexual abuse doesn’t always leave marks. And on the child psychology front, children’s memories are very fragile and can easily forget or be molded. But, cmon, he 100% groomed his step-daughter. I think it’s time to focus on directors who haven’t done any of this.

He was investigated. Two times. two official investigations that both came to the same conclusion, that Dylan had not been molested, That Allen was innocent, and that Dylan was likely coached. Important to note the judge was commenting on a custody battle and not a criminal battle and he was misquoted. He didn't want Dylan to be spending time in a household where her step sister was also her mom. Additionally, the judge in the custoy battle was also obligated to preserve the child's environment and the child already lived in Mia's household. The judge also saw threatening letters from Mia to Woody and strangely didn't comment on that.
The New York authorities did find cause. Dylan’s account has never faltered, not since childhood. Yale-New Haven was over awed by Allen’s money and influence.
I don't want to speak on Woody Allen's guilt or innocence. But something that is kind of telling is that the reason why a trial never happened was because although a prosecutor believed that there was enough evidence for a trial, the prosecutor chose not to go forward with the case in order to spare Dylan Farrow from the trauma of testifying, concluding that she probably wasn't mentally strong enough to be able to deal with a trial and having to testify in court about what allegedly happened to her. I've heard of cases that we're never prosecuted for that resulted in plea deals because the prosecutor is did not want the victim to testify out of concern for the victim's own mental health, and it makes me kind of lean towards being open to the possibility that the accused was guilty. But I don't know.

That was an absurd excuse, as a criminal trial in CT would not require to put the child on the stand. Furthermore, Mia and the prosecutor had just dragged 'fragile Dylan' through FOURTEEN MONTHS of investigations, physical and mental examinations, interview sessions, what have you - and now they "can go to trial", suddenly ONE hearing would be too much for "fragile Dylan" to PUT HER ABUSER away?

Honestly, I couldn't care less if Scarlett works with Woody again but I just will simply not watch it. Umm Soon Yi is not the one he is accused of having abused. That was Dylan. But the two events are often conflated because of the timing of Mia Farrow's accusation, which was right after she found out that Woody Allen was having a relationship with her 18 year old daughter Soon Yi. Soon Yi is the adopted daughter of Mia and composer Andre Previn. She was never adopted by Woody Allen, and rarely saw him when she was young. On the other hand, shortly before that revelation, Mia has insisted that Woody Allen co-adopt Dylan along with her brother Moses, who has sided with Woody in this dispute. There is ample reason to believe that Mia wanted revenge on Allen, the man she had dated for almost two decades, for having an affair with her daughter (whom he has now been married to for over 2 decades). He can adopt children, because the original testimony involving the Dylan case was deemed implausible and manipulated. Allen has not ever been convicted of a crime here and on top of that no other allegations of abuse have ever come forward which is unusual in cases of true child attackers.

A lot of people believe Jackson was guilty because the accusations were persistent and there were multiple claims over many years. And there is a lot of evidence (perhaps circumstantial) that he was at the very least too close to the kids who visited him. None of that is the case with Woody Allen.

I disagree. As heinous as child sexual abuse accusations are, it is imperative to investigate the accusations from all angles, understanding (not denying or blindly believing) the accusations and understanding Woody Allen's defense (not denying or believing as well). Then use testimonies, any evidence, logic, and perspective to get as close to the truth as you can. If you don't know any party personally affiliated with this case, you only have the accusations and your personal opinions, which isn't evidence of anything. Children lie, women lie, and men lie. And yet, all those same people are capable of telling the truth. The challenge with ANY case is to determine who is lying and who isn't. I'm more focused on the truth, whichever side it aligns with.

Of course this information is damaging to the accused and it is in the best interest of these people to warp the perception of others saying "it has gone too far" and "these women can lie" etc. Listening to both sides is crucial to form a critical assessment. You just have to remember that there has been a historical bias to put women's perspectives down.

Authorities have a historically bad track record of identifying cases of sexual assault, especially in cases that were investigated 10+ years ago. A physical examination may show no signs of sexual abuse, but sexual abuse doesn’t always leave marks. And on the child psychology front, children’s memories are very fragile and can easily forget or be molded.

Important to note the judge was commenting on a custody battle and not a criminal battle and he was misquoted. He didn't want Dylan to be spending time in a household where her step sister was also her mom. Additionally, the judge in the custoy battle was also obligated to preserve the child's environment and the child already lived in Mia's household. The judge also saw threatening letters from Mia to Woody and strangely didn't comment on that.

I don't want to speak on Woody Allen's guilt or innocence. But something that is kind of telling is that the reason why a trial never happened was because although a prosecutor believed that there was enough evidence for a trial, the prosecutor chose not to go forward with the case in order to spare Dylan Farrow from the trauma of testifying, concluding that she probably wasn't mentally strong enough to be able to deal with a trial and having to testify in court about what allegedly happened to her. I've heard of cases that we're never prosecuted for that resulted in plea deals because the prosecutor is did not want the victim to testify out of concern for the victim's own mental health, and it makes me kind of lean towards being open to the possibility that the accused was guilty. But I don't know.
