We all knew the Xyston-class star destroyers were under construction, discovered by Darth Vader and Ochi of Bestoon. However, it will take the next three decades for the construction of the Xyston-class destroyers to complete. And I said it before, the TIE Daggers and new troop transports were still under development.
He’s actually ordering the affliction of pain. Not exactly controlling it. I imagine he can’t feel the pain as he has been part of the entire bleeding process, slowly building more and more infliction and adapting to it as it bleeds further. Now he can withstand the full power of it. Just what I picture what was in the writers mind.
I like the fact that in that moment of screaming pain, darth realised he couldnt beat palpatine, so he chose, using his mind to choose his son luke and planned from that moment on to kill palpatine with lukes help. Finally in the end he used his mind and worked towards it, instead of being a blunt inrument of death, at least most of the time when he could.
Palpatine: has a soul in constant pain and has to gather a mountain of kyber crystals and Star destroyers to gain power Yoda: fully accepts the light and becomes an immortal force ghost who bounces around the galaxy shooting lightning out of the sky
Something that I’ve always found funny is that the only emotion that the Sith allow themselves to feel, use and fuel them is anger. I remember the story when Darth Malgus stabbed his beloved in the stomach because “His love for her could be used against him” if the Jedi are slaves to a utopian vision of life as emotionless robots, the Sith are slaves to a dystopian life filled with endless anger, pain and torture for the sake of it. The only true path is that of the Gray Jedi.
That's part of the reason why, when it was just 1-6, I thought "balance to the force" meant Anakin/Vader wiping out *both sides.* It would allow the Force to have a fresh start as represented by Luke and Leia.
@@johnnygyro2295 I always thought the balance also meant two Sith; Sidious and Vader and two Jedi; Yoda and Obi, Luke replacing Obi when he died. Then when Yoda dies the light side is off balance with just Luke and Vader becomes the tipping point between the two sides. But I always agreed with your point too, the Sith had been “wiped out” for years allowing them to establish a rule of two, and ensure the strongest most knowledgeable survive and increase their chances of success, Vader wipes out the Jedi with their self sabotaging dogma and leaves just the two most powerful and knowledgeable Jedi alive by will of the force to ensure Luke and Leia’s new world might be better. Then the sequels happened.... *sigh*
@@awesome8831 That's because the Jedi Order in the Prequels is itself out of balance, from a combination of dogmatism, an increasingly corrupt Republic, and the machinations of the Sith leaving the Jedi in the dark.

This really shows how Palpatine is pure evil. Maybe the most evil fictive character in fiction history. Darth Vader almost had him, but the bleeding kyber mountain was too much for Vader as he still has good left in him. On the contrary Palpatine has nothing good left inside of him and is therefore able to take the enourmous pain from the kybers.
Anakin was NOTHING like palpatine. He had regret immediately. Reason being is Anakin realized he had been lied to and used. Resulting in injuries that he "thought" would forever hinder him from defeating the emperor.
I really hope that we see Vader 'unofficially' accepting the light side of the force in these issues. We don't know yet if his choice was at the end of ROTJ or prior, just that his son was the catalyst. Nice to see Vader in open rebellion to the Emperor here too! Never thought I would see him actually utter those words
Yeah why would they cut of the remaining part of anakins arm and just keep the hand. Unless they used that much material on experiments. However its more likely Luke's hand. SW has a big thing about stuff falling down chasms and later coming back. Being Luke's hand also symbolizes the endless resources Palpatine has. If it was Anakins hand from his severed arm it only constitutes a trip to Geonosis immediately after he learns of Dooku's deeds.
Doesn't the construction of the Xyston-class Star Destroyers in the galactic civil war era contradict the fact that the visual guide for Episode IX says that the Xystons were inspired by the Mandator-IV?
@@trihexilon5 But it is mentioned that the Xyston-Class Star Destroyers were manufactured by Kuat-Entralla, that company did not exist before Episode VI.
@@PresidentElon True. It could be perhaps that in the years after Episode VI when Kuat-Entralla was formed they became the de facto manufacturer when at this point in time I imagine it's the Empire itself footing the bill.
Vader is the same as all of us, underwhelmed by the Final Order. Having that fleet underway already helps explain how the DSII was built so quickly tho.
So here Palpatine is already building a fleet of star destroyers with each one having the potential to blow up a planet. THEN WHY BUILD A SECOND DEATH STAR???!!!
I think what this comic shows is vader struggling with all of his might against sidious and doing some amazing feats through the force and his own willpower, but in the end it becomes clear that his master is the only one with unlimited power. This explains why vader is so defeated mentally in episode 6 and thinks the emperor is too powerful even after in episode 5 thinking its possible to defeat him. Maybe the emperor figured out what vader had said to luke and used this whole exercise to show him he was wrong
I still saw Vader saw he, himself, was screwed and decided to commit to saving Luke; that is, saving Luke from being destroyed in the wake of Palpatine's 'inevitable victory'.
So, 3 years pass between ESB and RotJ. This takes place before RotJ, so in less than 3 years Palps was able to get Luke's hand, create multiple fully and/or partially formed Snoke clones, and create one what was fully developed and force sensitive. I'm not even mad, that's impressive.
In my mind Sidous wasnt really there.... He projected himself there. ... why? Sidious got tumbled by Yoda, got beat by Mace. He is affected by the force like everyone else... What Sidous is a great planner... but perhaps not the strongest out there... just possibly the most cunning.
@@fredbecerra1608 Because Yoda was a Jedi(the only Jedi) that could potentially beat him. Why fight Yoda and risk defeat when you have already won? "Yoda could not defeat the most powerful Sith Lord in History." ROTS novel. "Into Exile, I must go. Failed, I have".
In a way I think it's sad because it sorta makes Vader's redemption less about him turning back to the light and loving his son and more about a long standing desire to kill Sidious whenever the opportunity would present itself.
First Death Star: I’m the size of a moon Second Death Star: I am you but better Starkiller base: “better? Hah, I’m 4 times your size!!!” Fleet of 100 star destroyers: “we are more powerful” Emperor palpatine: “I am unlimited power!!!”
Can we talk about how terrifyingly forward thinking and how much foresight palpatine has, hes basically what we all think when we think conspiracy theories/ the illuminati , kinda eerie in my opinion
I love the ways Sidious would illustrate his point of “you can’t fight me. Look what I can do that you can’t.” Sidious WROTE the art of war. The psychological victory can be so much more than the physical. Breaking the opponents mind, so they just give up. Sidious was always the last word in manipulation.
1:15 as you said, because of the timeline, that most likely would not be the case But Anakin also got part of his arm cut off, unlike Luke who only lost his hand
So it seems like they are going the route of Anakin being the Chosen One and Palpatine's death in RotJ being his "real" death and his death in RoSW being explained away as "Palpatine wasn't nearly as powerful because he was in a clone body so his resurrection doesn't break the prophecy" or maybe some other way. Can't wait to see what happens next.
On one hand, I like how this comic explains Vader's line in RotJ: "You don't know the power of the Dark Side. I must obey my master." It's THIS power he's talking about. On the other hand, the fact that Palpatine has been working on these planet-busting Star Destroyers since before RotJ kind of ruins the whole point of a second Death Star. Granted, they were probably both a follow-up upgrade to the Empire's power and a backup plan in case DSII failed (which it did), but still... think of how many more Star Destroyers could've been built with the battle station's kyber.
Definitely without a doubt the reason that close up picture of palpatine just unphased it is easy for us to see him as a highly successful villian because it's strikingly similar looking to darksied or apocalypse even thanos. The artists had to be influenced by their Machiavellian smirk cast across their faces.
In many ways I can see the logic in Palpatine setting Vader up to be killed. It's all part of the Sith training and lore because the more you hate your master, the angrier you get at his cruelty towards you; the stronger you will get.
I was liking the comic till we saw the Death Star guns from the rise of Skywalker. That destroys the point of having Death Stars to begin with, not to mention the Death Star needed huge amounts of kyber crystals to fire, these ships just fire with ease
Would you ever make a playlist of the music you use in the background of your videos because I like the covers you use of original star wars themes even from old videos when u were known as bessy even though you still use most of the same music
Sidious will always be a coward, as is often depicted. He will hardly fight an equal duel against those who can offer him dangerous resistance, on the contrary he will do his tricks, he will cheat, and he will move the fight on a psychological level. Exactly as this comic shows, in this case too Sidious uses the crystal to find an avenue.
That hand cannot anakins, it has to be lukes. The hand may be from the right side, but anakin lost everything below the elbow when he fought dooku in ep2, lukes hand was cut off at the wrist.
Seems like they are trying very very hard to retcon RTOJ, by making it seem like Palpatine allowed himself to be thrown into the reactor shaft on the Death Star II, because if he was THIS powerful, then getting thrown over a balcony makes him seem foolish.
Also, so they do confirm Vader did kill Palpatine in RTOJ, and restored balance, albeit temporarily. Curious to see how they explain Palpatine's spirit going into a new body.
@@josephhunt4804 This was already clarified in TRoS novel and Beware the Power of the Dark Side. Palpatine had no intention of dying and was genuinely caught off guard when Vader jumped him from behind. By the time Palpatine came to his senses it was too late to save himself, so he had no choice but to transfer his spirit into a clone body. All of these contingencies were created because he still sensed a flicker of Anakin within Vader, he just didn't know when or how Anakin would return to interfere with his plans.
Some sources say a reason Palpatine was killed In That way was because of two factors 1,) Palpatine’s foresight failing Palpatine has almost omniscient Foresight, allowing him to see possible events. Every danger he sees going his way, he plans accordingly and goes along for the ride, topping his enemies and threats every time It’s a reason why it seems futile to oppose Palpatine as he sees what’s going to happen beforehand. However in ROTJ he foresaw a possible victory Instead Luke opposed him and rejected him, the Rebels succeeding in destroying the Shield Generator, it all shows how Palpatine’s foresight failed him. And realizing that, Vader made his move against Palpatine at that moment, as Palpatine didn’t see Vader’s betrayal coming neither, being caught off guard 2.) Palpatine was so angry and dejected, his entire focus was making Vader suffer. He was like a mad dog, who only saw that was in fringe of him, and only focused on generating more Lightning to inflict pain, rather than really save himself, while underestimating Vader’s endurance as he survived long enough to throw Palpatine over the reactor shaft
Palpatine drained Vader powers without him knowing because Anakin Darth Vader was the choose one thats why he controlled Vader by taking away hes power slowly so that Vader wouldn't be stronger but Vader was real the strongest of all even by drained hes power everytime unnoticed palpatine couldn't understand why vader was so power how can he still have such power
I don't know I would have liked it more if there were more battle between them I don't know maybe Darth Vader destroy that star destroyer Fleet set the battle between Sidious and Darth Vader so epic it brings the temple down and that the end Vader loses but not before crippling the emperor
Why doesn’t Palpatine need to be in pain at all to use the dark side? I guess it’s bc he’s just crazy, bc the dudes lived a great and lavish life, there’s really no reason for him to be this evil. It’s my only complaint about his character
Personally, I don’t view Palpatine as pure evil like most fans do. I know it’s a very unpopular opinion. But there have been several instances that show that he cares about his apprentices (in a very twisted way) and thinks that the harsh punishments are for their own good. There’s even one legends story where he thinks that that Sith ruling the Galaxy will be for the good of everyone and views himself as the hero of the Galaxy. But whoever is writing these new canon stories do not understand his character at all! They just think he’s evil and likes to watch people suffer, nothing else to him.
I think that Vader didn’t choose like till that moment on the Death Star II. That’s why he was conflicted. On Endor he knew he could not defeat Palpatine. He said he must obey his master. He was torn between the love for his son and the power of his master
I think that conflict within him is what always made him inferior and subordinate to Palps. Palps felt this and it angered him even more. I also think that Vader was probably shocked to see how much more pain and suffering he would have to go through to fully commit to the dark side and attain Palps power. I love seeing this conflict in his "eyes" in ROTJ.
Vader could certainly achieve Palpatine's power and beyond, but he was held back by his own pain, sentiments and regrets. He would have to fully forget Padme, and discard any love for Luke and it just wasn't possible for him. He was hurt by bleeding crystal because there was still good in him.
The nice thing about Vader is that he can beat Palpatine, it is an indisputable truth that in fact he is destined for this by being the chosen one. Vader, however, will not find the power to destroy him in hatred and revenge as he thought, but in the love for his son! as Episode 6 will show us. This is the great meaning that Lucas wanted to give to the scene where Vader destroys Palpatine.
If Sidious had the star destroyers before Return, then having Snoke build Star Killer makes even less sense, also if he had the tech to do this there would be no need for a second death star. Unless that was all just to lay the trap for the rebels.
I might have missed something here but this take place before the New Hope and they show that they can make Star Destroyers with Dearth Star level canons ... why are they building a second death star at all?
Palpatine was preparing for the Future The First Order was created for when he died after being rebirthed from the Empire that destroyed itself But it doesn’t look like the Excelgol fleet was complete yet, it was still a WIP which would take decades to complete and had to remain secret from the larger Empire Meanwhile the Death Star II was a public secret Superweapon, meant to be shared with the Empire and use it as a trap to destroy the Rebellion, and when done, it’ll be nearly unstoppable as it won’t have the weakness Galen Erso put on the first one When the Excelgol fleet was complete and should the Empire was alive, it’ll be the next and more insidious Superweapon of the Empire As powerful the Death Stars, and even Starkiller Base is, it can only attack on one target A fleet of mobile planet killers would strike countless targets simultaneously, making them even more dangerous

Palpatine was pure evil. But this clearly shows that Vader was not all-in on the dark side, despite everything he had done. And despite Palps master manipulation, the amount of emotional and physical pain and suffering he inflicted on Vader, that light side was never fully extinguished inside of him.

so this comic issue just confirmed the galactic empire to be a temporal holder until the "true empire" came, which was delayed by the battle of endor and came to be finally at 35ABY as the Final Order.
it is so sad, that the execution was so clumsy and there was no laid out plan for the sequel trilogy. It would be great to see Palpatines Version of a true Sith Empire but you can only do so much after Episode 8.
@@raveshaw6161 but at least the comic did its best to defend the sequels the best they could do, just how the clone wars helped the prequels be less hated now

We all knew the Xyston-class star destroyers were under construction, discovered by Darth Vader and Ochi of Bestoon.
However, it will take the next three decades for the construction of the Xyston-class destroyers to complete. And I said it before, the TIE Daggers and new troop transports were still under development.
Sidious isn't in pain because he is the one bleeding the crystal aka causing the pain.
Of course he wouldn't feel the pain if he's inflicting it.
︎︎ⓘ false information has been detected
I like the fact that in that moment of screaming pain, darth realised he couldnt beat palpatine, so he chose, using his mind to choose his son luke and planned from that moment on to kill palpatine with lukes help. Finally in the end he used his mind and worked towards it, instead of being a blunt inrument of death, at least most of the time when he could.

*sigh*
@@empac8631 George Lucas said only the light side is balanced but I prefer the grey side over his canon tbh

Literally just watched the last one. Ain't this a lil treat haha
It's definitely Luke's hand. In episode 2 Anakin's arm was cut off, not his hand
@B00B13_B1RD But I don't think that his hand would still be in such a good condition after over 25 years.
@B00B13_B1RD i mean it could be. Or someone else's hand. Its not confirmed who's. For me until its confirmed I'm assuming it is Luke's.
Doesn't the construction of the Xyston-class Star Destroyers in the galactic civil war era contradict the fact that the visual guide for Episode IX says that the Xystons were inspired by the Mandator-IV?
Not if you ignore the sequels their existence
The Xyston's superlaser was prototyped by the Mandator IV, not the ship itself.

Why where there 4 commercials before the 5 minute mark
he learned what i learned a long time ago pick in choose your battles always keep the element of surprise keep your friends close your nemesis closer
Actually is just 1 year between ESB and ROTJ and those 3 years are between ANH and ESB

Great comic just would've been nice to see this on the big screen back in 2019
I love the ways Sidious would illustrate his point of “you can’t fight me. Look what I can do that you can’t.” Sidious WROTE the art of war. The psychological victory can be so much more than the physical. Breaking the opponents mind, so they just give up. Sidious was always the last word in manipulation.

UNLIMITED POOOOOOWWWWWWWEEEEERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
1:43 not just that but it would basically be a forearm instead of just a hand.
at 8:29 well i bet the only reason palps could do that is bc he had a bunch of actual Sith training while vader had limited to non from palps
The mountain of Crystals came from general grievous's collection
My problem with this is if Vader knew about Exogul, why didn’t he tell Luke as a force ghost?
1:15 as you said, because of the timeline, that most likely would not be the case
But Anakin also got part of his arm cut off, unlike Luke who only lost his hand
"You don't know the power of the Dark Side.
I must obey my master."
It's Luke's hand as it's been severed at the wrist while anikin's was severed just below his elbow
Exactly. These comics are affecting ROTJ in a good and bad way. Plus they still lead to the sequels (sucks).
It’s crazy how Sidious bled all those kyber crystals without any effort.
anakin didnt get his hand cut off, he got his arm taken off. around elbow lenth. prob lukes hand.
5:15 "Now say my name!" Powerful crystal shards?
I've been waiting for this
Good
I was liking the comic till we saw the Death Star guns from the rise of Skywalker.
Thank you. It was a so cool moment!
This looks Cool! We finally know how Palpatine built his Final Order fleet underneath Exegol.
These comics just make me wish the original Trilogy was remade
Palpatine was just way beyond anyone in this era in the darkside of the force. All the sith really did live in him.
How many comics will be in this series
Probably 25. This 11th issue will wrap up Vol 2.
its luke hand bc it more smaller plus vader cut off at the wrist of luke hand than when dooku cut off Anakin's arm which was cut off at the elbow
Dang that assassin gets a first person pov… lucky him
If we got to see this much in-depth detail in the rise of sky walker it might've been better
A comic series of pain for darth vader.
This literally fits in perfectly
Palpatine was evil personified.
Lightsabers, why does it always have to be Lightsabers...
Some sources say a reason Palpatine was killed In That way was because of two factors
1,) Palpatine’s foresight failing
Palpatine has almost omniscient Foresight, allowing him to see possible events. Every danger he sees going his way, he plans accordingly and goes along for the ride, topping his enemies and threats every time
It’s a reason why it seems futile to oppose Palpatine as he sees what’s going to happen beforehand.
However in ROTJ he foresaw a possible victory
Instead Luke opposed him and rejected him, the Rebels succeeding in destroying the Shield Generator, it all shows how Palpatine’s foresight failed him. And realizing that, Vader made his move against Palpatine at that moment, as Palpatine didn’t see Vader’s betrayal coming neither, being caught off guard
2.) Palpatine was so angry and dejected, his entire focus was making Vader suffer.
Your interpretation is excellent. Vader will destroy Palps. But Disney had other ideas and destroyed a franchise in 3 terrible movies.
Guess palpatine is quite the handy man
Absolutely brilliant and badass. I love it. Thanks
So that’s why Ochi’s eyes look like they do in TROS
Now thats more like it!! great stuff 5 star content!!
Cool Hand Luke
I got to start collecting these comics. Always loved Anakin/Vader’s storyline.
Does Vader get better armor during his upcoming re-fit? Might be a good time to fix a few deficiencies.
Now we know why Papa Palps talk about UNLIMITED POWER in the movies
Kyber Crystal: "Pain"
It’s not Anakin’s hand, it’d also have some of the forearm as well.
He was not exaggerating about unlimited power
The nice thing about Vader is that he can beat Palpatine, it is an indisputable truth that in fact he is destined for this by being the chosen one. Vader, however, will not find the power to destroy him in hatred and revenge as he thought, but in the love for his son! as Episode 6 will show us. This is the great meaning that Lucas wanted to give to the scene where Vader destroys Palpatine.
Palpatine didn't die tho

If Sidious had the star destroyers before Return, then having Snoke build Star Killer makes even less sense, also if he had the tech to do this there would be no need for a second death star. Unless that was all just to lay the trap for the rebels.
Soo, why didnt Vader told Luke about Exegol then...?
I might have missed something here but this take place before the New Hope and they show that they can make Star Destroyers with Dearth Star level canons ... why are they building a second death star at all?
Palpatine was preparing for the Future
The First Order was created for when he died after being rebirthed from the Empire that destroyed itself
But it doesn’t look like the Excelgol fleet was complete yet, it was still a WIP which would take decades to complete and had to remain secret from the larger Empire
Meanwhile the Death Star II was a public secret Superweapon, meant to be shared with the Empire and use it as a trap to destroy the Rebellion, and when done, it’ll be nearly unstoppable as it won’t have the weakness Galen Erso put on the first one
When the Excelgol fleet was complete and should the Empire was alive, it’ll be the next and more insidious Superweapon of the Empire
As powerful the Death Stars, and even Starkiller Base is, it can only attack on one target
A fleet of mobile planet killers would strike countless targets simultaneously, making them even more dangerous
The Xyston fleet is 30+ years away, Palpatine can't just wait around for that long with no super-weapon, especially with the Galaxy in open rebellion.
And the Xyston Fleet was also there to usher in a True Sith Empire not just a transformed Republic.
