I suffered a TBI and had both arms ripped off at the elbows, then reattached…(that shit left a mark!)…. I began power carving and making wooden flags and concealed firearm cabinets I bought an echo cs 490 a year ago to cut firewood….but I’m getting into carving now…. And Brother, you and I are cut from the same politically incorrect cloth! Fuckin’ love it! Subscribed!
Jordy…I really appreciate the way you explain things…seriously! If it’s something new to me and you’re explaining it then I need sometime to process the information, and when you go over it several times it really helps me to remember what you said! Keep up the great work bud!
Mot Sure if you read these, Jordy, but don’t discredit yourself. You do an amazing job. This video is the best one for explaining the sprocket, the bar and the gauge. Thank you.
Thanks Jordy! This video really helped me as beginner! I asked my local shop for a Stihl 140 model to be mounted with the dime nose carving guide and 1/4 inch chain and they told me the sprocket is different compared to other models that take a carving bar (i.e. the 200 model that comes with a carving bar) and that it can't be done. Didn't seem right to me since the sprockets might have more or less teeth but they are both for 1/4 inch chains and 0.043 inch driver link gauge bars. Did my research and verified this through specs from online and your video really confirmed my hunch that the shop employee had it wrong! Great video here Jordy! Many thanks :)
Everything on point bro. I also suggest the 170 for a beginner. Good, cheap, light weight saw. That way you don’t invest too much in case you don’t like it.
Thanks Jordy, well done, you brought to light several things I never thought about regarding chainsaw carving. I may need to start smaller with equipment starting off. Thank you again for being you.
Thumbs up man, much admiration. Have to pick up the grand kid and have to leave but will catch more later. Just starting and it is useful. I'm 68 so yeah, thanks.
Well done, i was contemplating putting a carving bar on a nice ms200t, ???, as i have a bigger husky for blocking if needed, thought now is go with the battery saw, or that smaller 170, i were ear plugs but hate the noise, your opinion is most valued. Carry on
First off, i think you are a little hard on yourself. Most importantly, watching some other carvers i wish they would have made a video just like yours. I'm grateful you took the time to explain this! After wanting to get into this and listening to others without explaining like you did here, i was so lost. THANK YOU!
Well done Jordy !...you did fine...no-one can accuse you of talking down to them...you own your understanding and offer it freely to those who need more information...you always impress me with your tutoring for your subscribers... Bless you Jordy...🌿🌿🌿
😄😄😄... I'm sorry...but when you started professing your love... "I love you so much"...I thought you were having a tender moment with your viewers..😯...then I realized you were talking to your tools !..😄😄😄... You crack me up..👍😘...🌿🌿🌿
Thanks for the education Jordy. I'm retired and looking into carving small to medium size: bears, owls, eagles, or squirrels. Thanks a bunch for your informative video. I like watching Ryan Cook too.
Perfect timing on this video! You've got me to the point that I'm ready to delve into chainsaw carving and hopefully carve a bunny bear monkey whale spirit .
Hi Jordy You are not a dummy! - You are a smart guy!!! 👍👍👍 And believe me ... I talk often to myself and sometimes I get an answer too ... 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍 Thanks for showing
thanks Jordy ...Wow what an unbelievable great job you did on explaining this technical stuff, that has been confusing to a lot of us . Man you are getting better all the time at doing this kind of informational video . thank you Jordy for having the patients to do this for us !
A lot of information but easily understood. I know what to watch for now. My dad was a wood cutter and I grew up around that stuff but I only cut stove length wood. I just bought a yard sale homelite 42cc 14 inch bar to start farting around with.
Think I’m gonna use my Christmas money to set my ms 170 with this carving set up, tried cutting some bushes with mine and it flogged up or something and won’t spin now, not sure what I did, tried starting it upnlocked too, any ideas 🤷♂️ how to fix it?
Thanks for the video Jordy. Stihl 170's are less than $180 usd at my local Theissen's store,so I bought two. Ordered a 12" cannon carver 1/4 tip kit for one of them and it's supposed to be delivered today. I've been using the stock bar thus far with decent results.
@@CarvingFusion ,yessir just watched your video to help me out. The kit came yesterday and it ended being a 12" dime tip, which was what I wanted to begin with, but all they had listed was the 1/4 tip haha. Gonna put together this morning.
I feel this... i have the same problem with this but yesterday comes my echo 2511 with the carving bar. I'm so excited how good it works Thanks for all the good videos
Hey Jordy... very good explaining!!! Here in Germany you can buy the Echo with the Carvingbar. I think 12inch?? (30cm). Its called 2511wesc... i started with the ms170 and a cheap carvingbar. I did maybe 7-8 sculptures and the Tip of the bar now sucks (enough chainoil and loosin chain of course). For the beginning it was nice. On my ms150 i got a 8“ Cannonbar.... the best. My Grandpa said: „for cheap tools we are too poor“. You re great... a Man with a big heart !!!
Thank you for this excellent tutorial video. I need some help here. I just got my carving bar and chain. But I am not sure if the sprocket (it is 1/4 inch) I got is okay because the supplier marked it as MST 150. Can it fit my ms170? I am eager to start sir.
Great timing for the video Jordy and lucky me, i chose the right saw! Its not got a carving bar but i thought i'd get used to it first and do basic cuts for now and if i like it i'd eventually get a smaller saw with a carving bar, sound reasonable to you? Thanks for explaining, this crap with numbers is not for me either!
Hey Jordy….I want to add a light weight dime tip electric/corded detail saw to my shop. Like you the number/model/confusion stuff drives me nuts. I’m looking at the Mikita corded saw, or the sthil, possibly an Oregon electric? None of them appear to be set up for detail carving….so I will need to mess with the numbers and all the choices. Any specific recommendations? Thanks, by the way this video one’s help, even someone like me who has sucked too much 2 stroke smoke!!!!
What up bud? Have u seen the video "chainsaw art" by Gus Johnson? Its only a 12 sec. video but for some reason it cracks me up...its worth watching!...U da man Jordy!
Jordie im getting a ms 193c dose the sprocket as long as it’s 1/4 pitch dose the number of teeth mater? and do you have to change the clutch or will old clutch work I ask because a lot of kits come with both and some dont
@@CarvingFusion so it’s all pretty universal from saw to saw then I guess. sweet thank so so much can’t thank you enough for all you do for all of us 🙏
