- On March 24th, 2020 Indian Prime Minister Modi put the ENTIRE country on a strict 21 day lockdown! I just happened to be in India during this tragic time. What's it like being a foreigner in another country during a world-wide pandemic? Follow me on my first 5 days of my "lock-down" in India as I desperately try to find food, as well as keep a healthy and positive mind through all of this.

@@priyanshukaushik4053 haha first two days were like that for me, but gradually I got the Idea about the ratio of water, lintel, turmeric and salt and how many whistle is required for cooking a certain thing so except roti I can cook everything without any help and when it needed, UA-cam is available or you can ask from your mom on phone.
Whenever you need anything, just ask for it to any localites, giving away is a teaching taught to Indians since beginning and in all religions. So don't shy away. Hope Goa Govt is doing something to help these visitors stranded at Goa. So that they need not walk so much into summer heat searching for basic needs. 🙏🙏

Notify the local government that you have no food. I am sure they will arrange something. In Kerala there is community kitchen and lot of other organizations working to serve people.
Ur safer there than going to an international airport then being on a plane for 9+ hours with germs recirculating. I miss India.. have a good thali and dosa. You are in a good place. You might be better off in another city closer to kerala.

Hi there, I’m also on lockdown in India (US citizen). I’m in Kolkata. Fortunately I’m in a place that have stores that are open although they’ve been running low on food. These are definitely hard times with many lessons to learn. You are fortunate to have such good friends and neighbors there during this time. Just stay safe and try to minimize your time out.
Are you still in Goa or have you been repatriated? I’m still waiting on news about flights back to the US.

She goes to a remote part of Goa, goes to 4 different stores on 4 different days, and buys little food on each of those trips to the stores in this severe lockdown. Why can't she buy and stock up food for a week or two weeks, so that she does not have to walk to the store alone in that hot sun that many times? This woman does not make sense at all.

@Sunny Enough with your bullshit. Covid-19 is not like the flu. It is more contagious (R-naught of 2 - 2.3). The incubation period is of 14 days and sometimes even more unlike the flu which takes only 1 day to show symptoms. And it has severe respiratory-related symptoms in the worst case like pneumonia. Take it less seriously, and we'll end up like the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic

And even if they are they might have different ingridients for their usage which most of the times aren't available even in normal times . Consider yourself as Indian outside and you can't find atta rice dals but find something which you don't have any idea to prepare . And again you are in panic , as being non local you don't even have a idea what to buy in a hurry . And the above person has a very good heart , she is feeding the strays even when she doesn't have food .Please let us all understand each other 🙏 . This times are once in a century and our culture is of treating guests as god's . When they leave India they shouldn't regret it if not enjoyed .

What I’m trying to say is that yes there is a lock down and yes people should stay at home but everyone is still entitled to go out and get food for themselves and other essential items. Why is the police not treating people with dignity and beating and caning them that’s just unheard of in the west. Jessica’s friend in the video says clearly the police were filling up their own cars and not allowing people to buy food a basic human right. But it’s about why the police is not treating people with respect and dignity and filling up their own cars with food, do they not care about the people it seems clearly they don’t and just care about themselves but happy to beat and cane people for trying to survive.

Nice video my sister, watched a whole video in one sitting. Though we all had to go through these crazy difficult times, after just 3 months, i could not believe we had/we did to go through a weird times like this.. The video was mood lifting with a wonderful message from Alexa in the end!
Now everybody sees how I've been living. lol... I'm not complaining I'm just saying. I hate people are dying but I've lived this way all my life. By myself, not going anywhere but working and eating once a day. I'm used to it. I keep plenty of food because I only grocery shop and cook my one meal a day at home. Just me, myself and I. Ya'll will be okay just keep your spirits up along with your immune system. But if your spirits are down, so will your immune system be. Remember stress will kill you faster than The Rona.... No gatherings larger than 10, social distancing of 6ft or more, only essential business open (grocery stores, pharmacies, banks). Restaurants can deliver and provide take out. No dine-in. Glad that Essentials places+ take out Restr r open& no full lock down in LA, just like most of CDA here, considering LA is only 2nd to NY as to most #of cases in US. Bet also Ur most streets r 80-90% empty too, as most are laidoff or working from home, schools, beaches, parks, events etc r closed too, but unlike Goa, essentials goods Trucks are fully permitted to bring supplies & most( not all) foods& meds are on shelves. Hope Modi& India make this type of goods movement + 2-3 times a week allow stores to open half+ days. Also hope extreme poor helped with emergency water& food as they r walking back 100s of Miles to their villages w no food etc currently as seen& heard in news.

Almost every one is stuck. Even I am in another state of India. I can't go outside to bring some food, it's horrible moments for all us, somehow we are just trying to survive in this situation.

I'm so happy to see back the cow we fed during our holiday in Patnem. Every day she was waiting for some vegetables and fruits in front of the gate of the veranda. She was very headstrong. And Jessica, I know, it's 3 km to Chaudi, we went by tuk tuk and later by bike. It must have been a long hot walk for some food and water. Thank you for sharing, i hope the shops will be open again soon. Shanti, shanti.
