The Protomen - Act II: The Father of Death - How The World Fell Under Darkness uploaded in HD quality for your viewing pleasure. If you like this, buy the album!
I imagine Light goes to the train tracks. He listens to the oncoming train, contemplating suicide. The sound, the last sound of the old, pre-Wily world he'd hear, reminds him of his father's time. The clangs of Wily's machines remind him of mining. And his father's death. And his dream. And how it came to this, with the clangs of robots. With the synth, we see a fast-forward of Wily building up his empire- lights blaze by, machines fly overhead. Light's heart beats, with his internal conflict.
I love how this track transitions between the two distinct musical styles of Act II.
I love how they illustrate the passage of time through the music changing - the first half of the album is 60s style western country and jazz while this song and the later ones transition into synthy 80s power ballads before Act 1 gets into 90s-00s hard rock. Genius composers
scoob this track is hitting real different rn
Loving when the electronic synths start coming in, build up and finally go all out.
I always find this a good way of describing the Industrial Revolution.
kinda ironic since electricity was born of the industrial revolution and that's what really cancelled darkness
Based and Tedpilled
@@scoopitywoop5665 I don't ever want to hear a 14 word political statement unless it starts with "the industrial revolution"
My vinyl copy of this just loops the heartbeat over and over.
Maybe because Analog is not part of the machine?
Interesting change
How The World Fell Under Darkness: Ends with Joe's heartbeat.
Keep Quiet: Ends with Joe's ragged breathing after fighting the Sniper.
The Fall: Ends with Joe flatlining...
I'm listening to all this for the first time, and you just gave away the plot.
@@sandtraven3686 7 Year Old comments man, gotta watch yourself.
Gotta love that underlying keyboard playing.
This is seriously one of my favorite instrumental songs ever.
"And then, things began to change. Streets widened, oil lamps became gaslights, which became electric lamps that started to dot the cities and countryside. The Relentless Progress of Reason they called it; but it was our side losing the Ascension War. Wonder was dying, hope was dying; in the amber color of their streetlights, what was unknown became quantified under the emerging Technocratic Hegemony"
And the train... Just how subtle that little piece is, as the train slowly changes.
This would make an awesome movie.
Topical right now.
Anyone else notice the similarity between this and "Here comes the arm"?
I didn't remember this song being particularly special, but listening to it build just makes me hyped for Joe all over again.
I love tuning people in who have never even through *osmosis* heard of the Protomen JUST so I can see their faces/get their reaction to the fact that the main character of the album is about to commit suicide... and isn't even done losing yet.
this what i listen to when i am about to be hungover
i would love to see that
Technically they're not lyrics, as this is an instrumental song, "just instruments". It's more like narration. To be honest I think I'd prefer it (on all the tracks) to be just sung where it is, rather than having to read it, but that's just me.
Rare that there are lyrics for an instrumental song.
@hayesman24 my favorite is the the fall.
so epic.
An oddly specific fortune cookie
Wasnt it though...
Joe
This song was linked in a Warhammer 40k fic, and it fits the chapter it was linked in so very well. The story, if anyone wants to read it: forums.spacebattles.com/threads/terror-peace-among-the-stars-sequel-warhammer-40k-complete.672535/
@authressintraining another good instrumental song from protoman is funeral for a son
lategame factorio be like
Is this what happens every time you get a game over?
Is? what the hell is up with me lately?
really? X4 & X5 were amazing games to me, X6 had a VERY good story if look at the Japanese version, and X7... can go to hell.... and X8 was a great finale (but I'd still love an X9) but to each their own is suppose
@authressintraining another good instrumental song from protoman is funeral for a son but it's not as good as this song
