Hi, I know this question was answered 4 mths ago, but is there an update on this? might there be any cracks, hinge looseness etc? And what might your usage be like?
Update: I broke it, and I fixed it. I dropped my iPad mini in the zagg keyboard case from 3ft onto the floor. The iPad flew out of the keyboard and took the little magnets with it. It wouldn’t go back together. After some fiddling with hot glue, small pliers and a toothpick I managed to glue the magnets back into their sockets and stay there when removing the iPad again. Fiddely, but it worked. The iPad cover is still fine, still no cracks whatsoever. Still love this setup for my IPad mini, wish it ran Mac OS sometimes though ;)
THANKS for making this review. There's so many ZAGG keyboard reviews that seemed to contradict each other. One has a full-on case-keyboard but the case isn't detachable. Another one showed you can detach the iPad but it doesn't come with a case. FINALLY, I found out there is a config. with a detachable case and backlit keyboard.
What I hate about these iPad keyboards is the lack of a track pad or a nub in the keyboard o move the cursor. Yes I know why do you need these with a touchscreen, and my answer is that when I’m typing I like to do so quickly, I hate having to reach to the screen when it should be just my fingers doing the walking, hope this makes sense, also great video.
Aaron V & Spence: the size is the same, but the buttons are placed differently. So the cutouts are misplaced. I now have a Zagg rugged book for Ipad Mini 5. That’s a heavy beast, but it is excellent, and it’s the same principle.
Mine cracked and broke in pieces. An that after treating it as a baby. I still use the keyboard afterdoiung a homefix. But it still looks shitty and for a quite expensive keyboard was quite dissapointing. Brydge keys packed up, about the halve of the second row of letters. I now purchaded a Earto aluminium keyboard and hope that it will last!
Hi. I am getting confused with some of the different years and models of this case. Did this particular one come with both the keyboard AND a cover for the ipad itself??
Yes it did. This keyboard model needs the case to attach itself to the iPad. At 1:58 I take the two apart and snap it back together again, you can kinda hear the magnets (?) latching it in place. As you can see, the taking on/off is very easy. Good luck with the search for your ideal iPad keyboard!
I found the keyboard lag absolutely horrible with my iPad mini 5. What was your experience? A stand-alone Bluetooth keyboard was way better so I am confused why the Zagg one was so terrible.
That is strange, I’ve never had that issue with mine. Maybe with iOS updates it hampered zag compatibility? My zag has been broken for a long time now (hinges) so unfortunately I don’t use it anymore.
There is a version for the iPad 2/3, www.zagg.com/us/en_us/keyboards/slim-book-ipad-mini , and it's on the German amazon www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/262-4594790-4973252?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=iPad+mini+zagg+keyboard+slim (sure you can find better deal though if you google)
@@gerbenoldeheuvel7238 No, it's not compatible. The volume keys are positioned further to the left on the mini 5. You'd have to increase the size of the holes to make it fit. So I'll return mine and look for something else (or maybe wait until Zagg releases this keyboard for the ipad mini 5).
I asked Zagg about news on the release date of keyboards for the mini 5. Reply: “Unfortunately we do not have a definitive date as of yet for the release of this product. I would advise you to sign up for our newsletter which will inform you of the latest products and the date of release for our products. “
Protects the iPad from scratches and bumps, yes. One of the reasons I like this case is it's all round iPad protection, now I can just put the iPad in a bag without sleeves and such. Drop protection won't be great though, the case feels like it would shatter when dropped onto a hard surface.
Update after 4 months; still great. No cracks, no issues. Great battery life and makes an iPad Mini so much more useable.

Hey is there a mouse for the keyboard or do you have to buy it?
How good is it for typing? I want something for notetaking on the go, and this looks like it might fit the bill perfectly - if it is OK for typing on.
Where can I find it? :3. Thanks!

Thank you! And I agree, a trackpad on the keyboard would be great. Actually, I would just love a MacBook to be this small :)
Don't hate the keyboards, hate Apple. They don't support external mice for some reason.
@@dankninja9434 They do support ipad mice now with, iOS 13!
Short , sweet and to the point. Thank you.
perfect for school!
What the heack"?
Got one for school works nice
Someone on Twitter: HoW mAnY a CaN yOu TyPe?
Me: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- DANG IT!
For those who wish to know: it's not compatible with the Ipad Mini 5.
Thanks for sharing! Good to know, shame it doesn't fit the 5 :(
Is there something comparable available for iPad mini 5?
They’re the same size?

Great review so usefull, thanks
I love having a keyboard for my iPad mini 2
What iPad mini keyboard case you do you recommend that have tablet mode?
Aluminum keyboard?
Yeah I think it is, really feels like a macbook keyboard. Smaller keys, but still doable.
David Bakker thanks 🙏🏼👍. Don’t really want a plastic build keyboard

Great Work! Keep up the awesome work! ;)
Thank you so much! Holiday greetings to you :)
Ipad mini 1?
Where can you get this case?

Did u can send me the link to this keyboard? Is it Available in Germany? Does this works with an iPad mini 2?

Best size
Do you know if it is compatible with iPad mini 5?
Since the dimensions of the mini 5 (2019) are exactly the same, is this compatible with it?
Same question
I will know tomorrow, since I ordered it. :) But I do know that the microphone holes are going to be covered up. Doesn’t matter much to me.

great video!!
Does it work with the mini 5?
that for ipad mini only?
Is this product still being produced? I am browsing for something similar to this product for the new iPad mini 6
That would be great, but I don’t think they’ve announced anything for the new mini
has it cracked for you around the edges?
For me, it hasn't. But I'm super careful with my stuff usually.
Bad part about this kind of case is that when your charging your iPad on your bed you watch it with the keyboard on your head
how much ?
Compatible ipad mini 5 ?
Does it work for the model A1489
No i tried it was a waste of money :(
Ukulele Ukulele what if you cut/open the volume buttons section?

Is it vey protective?

Yes, it can indeed. I like green in the dark, quite easy on the eyes.
