- ET’s Lauren Zima chats with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson at the premiere of ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife,’ in theaters Nov. 19. The actors starred in the original 1984 film and its 1989 sequel, ‘Ghostbusters II,’ and now, they’re reprising their iconic characters for the latest installment. The trio reflects on their late co-star, Harold Ramis, who died in 2014 after battling an autoimmune disease. They also open up about the film’s legacy and share how it felt to suit up again. ***Spoiler Alert***
The way they made Egon not only the center of the story, but an actual full character without ever showing him, was genius the way I see it. The movie did him so much justice that it makes me believe that Jason Reitman really loved the guy.
I'd like to believe that Ivan brought his son to the set each day, and Jason grew up with these guys, and Beetlejuice, etc. That would be a great docu piece
he did
No he didn't, there was atleast 10 days of shooting where his kid never went to set.@@DeathcatYT
@@nxcess9046in a documentary on the ghostbusters dvd Ivan reitman regards his son as the first ghostbusters fan
True legends of comedy. Just a shame that Harold Ramis Isn't still around to be a part of it.
Because Bill Murray kept fucking around for years while Dan Akroyd spent years shooting his mouth off about part 3 almost being ready to shoot etc
Hoping rick moranis is at least seen somewhere in the film. Seeing it tomorrow (bought the tickets weeks ago). Gotta have Luis
Ghostbusters in hell
Oh Harold was there ! More ways than one 😉 ........
Well said. ua-cam.com/video/qhdMvq_PXGU/v-deo.html
Beautiful ending to a great film! Everyone was crying in the theater.
Honestly, it got me in the feels. Beautiful send off to Harold AKA Egon
@@31577bowie good to know amigo! 👍🙏
Exactly bruh I was crying the movie was great to me screw that 2016 movie the REAL Ghostbusters is back.
@@reggiewolfpac7711 I liked GB16, but I only see it as a parody to the source material, just a silly fun popcorn-ride. That being said… Jillian Holtzmann was cool. GB: Afterlife brought the magic back and the real Ghostbusters! Definitely my sec fav GB film. My third is GB: The Video Game.
just saw it nov 21 2021 and MANY in the theatre including my group were clapping applause for the Harold Ramis tribute. VERY NICELY DONE
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a masterclass in how to make a proper sequel for a timeless classic. It treated its source material with due reverence and respect, but also built upon it, expanding the world and folding in new characters to tell a cross-generational tale brimming with heart. It was also a genuinely moving tribute to Harold Ramis, and I am not ashamed to admit I cried during the movie. Do not listen to the critics, this movie is fantastic and the cast did a stellar job!
I completely agree. I cried. I did.
😢 me too
The original OG is in the building, huge fan of the original there's nothing like a good old classic.❤🤗
Exactly & the movie was really great to me screw that 2016 movie.
ua-cam.com/video/qhdMvq_PXGU/v-deo.html
The original "original"? OG means "original/original gangster".
@@reggiewolfpac7711 OKAY 😉
@@Ristley yeah but in this case, I was just going to say it was the original people from day one.
Hard to believe Ernie Hudson is 75 and older than the rest! The guy has aged damn well indeed. What a great movie. So good to see the gang back together one more time.
Yes!
I love Ernie
Harold ramis was always one year older than ernie hudson. He would b 79 today with hudson at 78.
@@paulmacartney8266 not quite sure he looks as good as ernie tho. the whole point of this comment
This movie really knocked the ball out of the park. Going to see it on opening day truly was a blessing. The ending has pretty much everyone either straight out crying or sobbing, and it was a joy to hear everyone signing the theme song during the credits. May Harold rest in peace, his legacy won't be forgotten.
The best remakequel of all time. Easily.
@@stevenladnyk4526 Definitely.
@@spiderparades this is the perfect follow up after nearly 30 years
One thing i realized about these guys is that they truly are those characters we see on screen.
That's why they work so well together when we see them. Dan is a lot like Ray in a lot of ways,
and Bill is a LOT like Vemkman. Same for the rest. So that only makes the chemistry that much more
believable because they're almost being themselves. As a true GB fan that grew up obsessively watching the
original NUMEROUS times on VHS, this movie felt like a very warm hug from my childhood. It's truly made
for the fans.
ua-cam.com/video/qhdMvq_PXGU/v-deo.html
It also helps that they didn't get along irl alot of the times. Bill notoriously disliked Harold and only came to really like him before he died
That was a great post. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
@@endless_limes its not that they hated each other. Bill and Harold had a falling out over creative differences on the set of a movie they were doing together. They did stop talking for years but reconciled shortly before Harold passed.
Omg, it's cool that they're bringing back the original group in the newest movie!
they brought them back for the last movie as well
@@kidrobot. not as their characters though and the movie was god awful
@@Thegamer10113 and? that doesnt change what I said
Grew up a huge ghostbusters fan, from cartoon to film.. I was sobbing like a child at the end, I was even expecting an appearance from the late Harold but it was still exceptional and truly a magical... The amount of joy this franchise has given me and hopefully my children will get the chance with a new generation of busters..
Finally a real Ghostbuster sequel. I litteraly cry in the theatre. Thank you.
Right?!!
So happy the original gang are back.I wish Harold, was here with us still he was such a great guy
“I didn’t hate any of them”…that is the most Bill Murray thing I’ve ever heard him say😂. Cause he’ll tell ya straight up if he has a problem with you
It’s amazing how they brought Harold’s likeness back as a ghost using CGI, so realistic, like when Carrie Fisher died and they did CGI Leia in Star Wars.
MANDALORIAN SPOILER!!
The one that absolutely blows me away Is Luke in the last episode. You realllllly have to try hard to distinguish it
Erie Hudson looks PHENOMENAL for being 75!!!
Harold ramis was the eldest of them all. He would've been 79 today making Ernie Hudson 78. Ramis was always one year older than hudson. If only Ramis never died 👎
Not afraid to admit I shed a few tears at the end… beautiful tribute to Ramis. Never thought I’d cry watching Ghostbusters but i did.
Same. I was tearing up but I had to hold it in a bit since my friends were nearby and I didn’t want to cry with them right next to me.
Murray calling Hudson "the sexies man alive" sounds about right. Dude aged well.
True
LOL 🤦♂️🤣🤦♂️
yeah and he's pretty active on tv still
@@kidrobot. he's active in some conventions as well, met the guy and he's one of the chillest / down to earth people. Has some impeccable taste in cologne as well.

Last time someont called the end of a movie moving etc it turned out to be no time to die with its cheesy as hell forced fake emo ending. Other the fans the main public seemt to think Afterlife is just a mediocre movie. So: I just wait till its on Amazon Prime or Netflix.
@@PR-on7qk Afterlife actually is a moving ending, and is worth seeing in theaters.
So true, i was born 1978.
This film finally made justice to the original Ghostbusters and Harold Remis.
I cried so much at the end, not only due to nostalgia but also cuz is the best ending for it.
I just finished watching Ghostbusters Afterlife, I gotta say it's worth watching and it left me smiling walking out the theater :)
Harold ramis was there in spirit. I loved the film ....brought back all the memories of my childhood. The moment ecto1 was revealed, the hairs on my arms stood up on end...and the sound of the packs when they fire up just put the smile on my face. I had to make my 14 year old son watch the first film before seeing afterlife
No lie, these guys absolutely defined my childhood. Thank you for some of my happiest years and here's to many more!
To see EGON returning and his granddaughter embracing him. I just buried my Father - oh God the tears
Yes scene just reminded me of Me as Phebe with her grandpa so much Courage. When the rest of the town sucked.
I am so glad to see these guys together, wish Ramis was there too.
I love the original cast is back n I can see their larger than life personalities shining already. ❤
Saw it last night. Amazing. Has to be seen in the theatre. Perfect timing.

It was so big to see them all back in this even if it was just in the end when they all needed to join in for additional power from the packs. Harold helping his grand daughter hold the gun choked me up. This was a great script and THAT is why the old crew joined in. I'm buying this when it comes out. I may even go back to the theater again, it was truly that good.
We saw it last night and the entire family loved it. Sad Harold isn't hear to enjoy it but holy hell the story is all about Harold/Egon and wow the ending....tears....TEARS!

He's getting ready for GB4
Seeing the original cast together: I’m not
Crying! You’re Crying!
Now I know I’m definitely gonna cry when this gets released here. Seeing these legends together again after a long time is already bringing me to tears.
I love the 84 ghostbusters. And I say it’s absolutely awesome to see the old cast again in the afterlife. Harold Ramis Would be so happy .
Winston finally got some recognition in this movie and he was set up to be a major player in any sequels. Bout time...
LOVED afterlife as an Egon movie. Big time tribute to him. Ramis was the star of this one and he wasn't even in it. Wouldn't have it any other way. It was as perfect as it could have been. BUT I would love the sequels to have a bit more "every man" humor that the originals had.
You hit the nail on the head, 🐢
I've seen it twice now and really enjoyed it each time. It isn't a perfect movie (few if any are), but it's solid and doesn't try to be anything that it isn't. Some people complain that this movie is too much "fan service" as if understanding what your audience wants and then creating a product to meet those wants is a bad thing. They aren't trying to deconstruct or "reimagine" or do any of the other words that basically mean ruin the previous GB narrative, just building on existing lore and it turns out when you do that well you get movies people want to see.
It's missing Rick Moranis for that.
It so great and damn I CRYED 4 TIMES!!
The BEST TREATMENT EVER!!
I LOVED HOW THEY REMEMBER EGON AND DID THIS FOR HAROLD !!
The new CREW OF THE GHOSTBUSTERS IS SWEET AND TASTY !!
My almost 8 yr old son is a HUGE fan. I didn’t really tell him about it, he just found it on his own and fell in love with it. Despite the fact that the original was a huge part of my childhood and is in the core memory vault. So, when he and I watched Afterlife together, and Harold showing up at the end, I can tell you, I lost it. I don’t idolize celebrities but art like movies become part of our lives and I’m so grateful this one withstood the test of time and my son and his generation has continued to keep it alive.
Hi I just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day!
