Chen Long is easily one of the greatest players of all the time. But often over shadowed due the fact he played in the same era of God of Badminton Lin Dan.... I personally feel 2000 - 2015 is the golden age of badminton. So many great players were there from different countries but often overlooked due to the exceptional mastery of King Lin Dan and Prince LCW.
@@Callmethedrink7not only three. He won world championship, olympic gold medal and all England. He basically won everything as male single player. He did it when ld and lcw still at their peak. Axelsen is lucky prime chen long is not in today. He would easily conquer today, considering how weak, less skilled and inconsistent player is today. Kento used to be next ld to conquer but injury stop him
@@Callmethedrink7 He won 2 WC and the Olympic Gold against Lee Chong Wei. His prime wasn't as long as Lee Chong Wei's but he won the most important tournaments while Lee Chong Wei often choked away the advantage.
If everyone is on form on a given day, chen long would be the winner. He's a complete player. His skills combined with his IQ and physical ability, he's hard to beat.
MOST China players’ footwork are the same, knees too bent, open too wide, tense and stiff at times, losing energy fast and hard to conserve. By the rubber set, they become less fluid. For Chen Long, he is exceptionally tall, which is his advantage. But still, the best of the footworks are the fluid, relaxed, and flexi LCW, LD, Taufik, Momota and this is why they are champions. Lee ZIi Jia needs to relax and less tense if he were to continue in the later years. Being young 23, he still has lots of fire of energy. By 28, he cannot continue to be tense and stiff like now. He needs advice from LCW.
I see many people commenting that his Footwork isn't good Guys he is tall Tall people don't need to waste their energy on speed and footwork They should rather focus on controlled shots cause they are tall enough to reach anywhere easily
Aside his footwork, not many people realise how quick his reflex was. You will need incredible reflex for defense and counter-attack. Same as Viktor Axelsen
Absolutely, short people can have incredible footwork! We'd recommend watching players like Akane Yamaguchi and Anthony Ginting to learn their footwork patterns. A great exercise is to do "shadows" which is to make the movements to each of the corners but without a shuttle. And then you can try to use that footwork in real matches! 😎
Chen long is tall. His footwork was not so special among world player. You must see akane yamaguchi or anthony sinisuka ginting. They are relatively short among other player. But watch their footwork against taller player.

Chen Long's footwork is very efficient. As you can see, after he won his match he wasn't even tired. This shows how steady and consistent he is.
More than his footwork, he had complete concentration in the game. Chen has superb defending abilities and stamina.
Chen Long backhand is underrated.
That is masterful. Really brings it home how rubbish my own footwork is!
Chen long’s backhand is soo nice to watch
it is as clean af
