- Hello everyone and welcome back to The Beatles Forever.
Yesterday I found out online that Paul McCartney's Hofner bass which had been missing for 50 years was found. That was amazing news so I thought I would investigate and see what happened.
I thought you would like to know too, so here it is.
Cool story, you put out more information on it than I could find. Your On it. ..glad to see that bass "get back where it once belonged" ..and Always belonged! 🎶 🌌
I heard about this, dang you're fast, thanks for the background, i've been playing bass for 30 years and Paul's lines so many time!
Great vid. It is confusing to know which is the original. The pics shown in vid the pickups are in different positions. The color scheme of the guitars are also different between the guitars shown. I had a Hoffner violin bass from the original run of the manufacturer. The color scheme was lighter and pickups were spaced differently.
Wow great story, I have been seeing hints online the past couple weeks I had a feeling it was found. Thank you
You're very welcome
Love your show! Think it's great
Thank you so much I appreciate it.
Love your video as always but small correction! The bass was stolen out the back of the wings tour van in 1972. It was last pictured in 1969 so this is where the confusion comes from.
Thank you for the information. I didn't realize that.
I love your Beatles stories. Thankyou.
Glad you like them!
Nice! Thank you!
There’s no place like home ❤
You are right about that.
They must have done something to the headstock to hide the fact it was "thee one" as all of the photos have it either covered or obscured 🤔🤔
Nice little story.
Great story!
Thank you very much I appreciate it.
❤the voice it's unique soft and elegant . Who voices beatles forever ? I've listened to Cynthia book as well😊
Thank you very much I appreciate it.
I have to give you a lot of credit. I’ve watched several videos on this, but you’re the only one to show pictures of the actual bass that was stolen! They always show his 1963 bass. Lol
Last seen in 1972 in a Van.
Hello, I would like to know why some photos of the guitar it has a silvery plectrum guard and in others it has no guard. ?
That is a good question. I think Paul said he had 3 Hoffner basses and the one stolen was the oldest and his favorite.
It may be of interest, but this hofner bass wasn't the one Paul was using for live performances,,that one Paul held on to ,an old friend of mine who was a studio engineer/producer,,,was working with Paul in the 80,s on there first meeting at Paul's house paul said are you a Beatles fan ?and brought out a hofner bass and took off the last set list the Beatles played in the USA in 1966 and presented to the engineer ,my friend still has it and framed it 😀
I forgot to say the list was sellotaped to the body of the hofner
Thank you for sharing that cool story. Your friend was lucky.
Considering the malarkey that goes on with memorabilia, I am skeptical. How hard would it be to fake that this is THE guitar?
One of the guy's that were looking for the bass worked for Hoffner and he was an expert in those instruments. Paul trusted him to know if it was the real thing.
What happened to the picguard?
That is a good question. I think he had 3 Hoffners and this may not have been the one that was stolen.
