Nice tour . I lived in Bellingham from 1959 to june of 1969 . was just a youngster back then. I,m the youngest member of the Dwelle family. Dad was the fire marshal for B.F.D. We lived on Masion St. Grant St. Vinning St. And Williams St. Was sad to see the docks all gone at Bloedel Donnavon park. But at least ol #7 is hanging in there. Only 35,000 people back then. Me and my two brothers Rick and Steve, I,m Jeff. If any one reading this remember,s us were all fine. We had a blast riding our bikes all over that town. Been back a few times since. Alot looks the same but indeed alot has changed. It's good to see and hear that the town still has it,s civic pride. It is indeed the Jewel of the Northwest.I live in Texas now, But if I win the lottery , You can bet I,d move back in a heartbeat. In my sixties now and would be nice to live the rest of my years back there so many great memories. Everyone living there now, You truly are blessed.
Beautiful city and great music to cruise by! I love Bellingham, especially around the Harbor! I’d love to come back for a visit! So many nice memories! Thanks for the drive!
I live in the Boston area and I can't take the exorbitantly high cost of living here any longer. I'm considering a cross country move. Id never live in California and Oregon is also very expensive. I've been thinking about Washington and Bellingham in particular. It looks like a wonderful place. Is it on the coast near the beach? Would you say that it's more urban or suburban? What are the people like? Does it rain there a lot? If so not a problem. I like rainy days. Looks like a great city though.
@@jbro4400 I’ve lived in Southern California all my life. It’s hot, noisy, crowded, expensive, insane, I hate it. We were looking at Coastal Oregon too. Love it there also, but there are more people that want to live there than there are proper houses available to buy. Been up to Bellingham twice and Blaine, another city we love in Washington. I am in love with the cool weather, overcast days, slower pace and very friendly people. It is surprisingly diverse. You will find that it is both urban and suburban. It is on the coast. I love this city very much!
I got offered a job position in Bellingham. 15 an hour starting, reach high teens and low 20s in a few years. I make 15 were I am at now in Oregon and it's just barely enough. Is the cost of living reasonable in Bellingham? This is a big life decision and 6 hours away from were I am. I have enjoyed the parts of Washington I have been before. Any input is appreciated, I'm a 25 year old gambling what is the better bet here.
@@VeeDriving mechanic by trade. I own a golf cart/heavy equipment repair business here in Oregon and an old boss offered me a job up there starting at 16. Wants me in the mid 20's after a few years.
FYI the cost of living in Bellingham is considered somewhat high... housing and rent costs have risen significantly over the past several years. On one of the postgrad university indexes I was looking at recently had Bellingham listed as VVH: very very high. Bellingham is great and you can definitely live on $16 an hour, but while it’s cheaper compared to Seattle it’s still 15% above natl average and only getting pricier.

I heard the cost of living isn't bad at all in Bellingham -- not nearly as high as Seattle. What type of work do you do?
