  • You know, Joe Pilates really was (and still is) onto something. He put movement first. Specifically, movement of the spine and pelvis front and center. Why? Because as humans, as bipeds that is our home, that the seed of life, that is our core. Putting movement first also means we work full-bodied through all ranges of motion.
This workout, inspired both by both the Pilates and GYROKINESIS® methods, focuses that movement in circles and spirals around the spine and hips to create suppleness, and it also brings focus to lengthening and stretching our hamstrings and glutes. We do this workout seated on a stool or on a chair precisely because it gives us the stability to counteract all that sitting.
Enjoy spiraling and stretching your torso, hips and legs!

Hiya Starcrossed Kitty - I'm so glad! The dynamic stretching of all the spiraling and waving literally massages and lubricates our spine and joints. Motion is lotion, for sure. You're welcome, you're welcome! 😁

Hi Claudine - yes, it is, isn't it? I'm glad you found the connection between your breath and moving deeply into stretching. Breathing is everything and will help us ease into our joints and tissue. Thank YOU for your comment and for moving with me!

In the perirormis stretch at 8 minute park, my knees ate high on both sides, any suggestions? What muscles create that tightness? Thank you, great video

Hi Melissa - thanks for your question! It sounds like your knees ache in the full piriformis stretch, and actually that's not uncommon. Tightness IN the piriformis may cause that ache in your knees. All you need to do, is open the angle of the planted leg knee (beyond 90 degrees), and then take the opposite leg - the one that we're stretching - and cross lower, at the ankle. This gives a bit of space to the hips, and will help to take away the sensations in your knees. Feel free to set up a free initial consult, if you'd like me to show you, or if you need more clarification. Be well! Rock on. app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16716223&appointmentType=13852558
