  • We link up with Austin Berens and take a look at one of the baddest trucks in the Midwest PRERUNNER scene. This truck was 100% built at his home Michigan and took a couple years to build. This truck is LS swapped, on 39 in. tires, and running HUGE shocks! They didn't cut any corners on this one. Enjoy!

    you guys should work on getting some partnerships with companies that make long travel kits, fenders, and King shocks to get a giveaway going for anyone with truck looking to start their build. Sell some stuff on the website for entries and change some kids' lives

      @BushkillRider 4 роки тому +2

      Fabrication usually cost more than the parts you want to install. Most "kids" that get free parts will never end up getting them installed on a truck anyway.

    I know nothing about trucks or prerunners but hope to build one some day I’m guessing when they ask how much travel it’s the amount of space the tires can go up and down??

      Yeah that’s exactly what it is, it’s the total distance the tires can move

    Maybe some can answer this question for me. Why always rangers and not tacomas? The taco is more reliable and they have a very similar size and shape but whats the main difference? Price?

    • @sandypineman
      @sandypineman 4 роки тому

      Beams mostly. Originally they were great for cheap travel with the stock mounts and unequal length beams. As more parts are available they become more commonly used. Once you get into this stage of build you're not really using any off the shelf parts for the suspension anymore, but it's more expected to use a ranger and there's more selection on glass for them.

      There's some other trucks done up this way but even the 98 and up Ranger hardly gets used like this . The I beam front suspension on older Fords is just better than the suspension on other trucks , for this kind of stuff at least . I have a 2003 Ranger Edge and it's a awesome little truck , but the dual wishbone suspension isn't capable of having even half as much travel . Beam suspension is why Fords rule this sport , and why they were the first and only choice for loggers to beat on getting to and from work .

      You don’t want a huge lift for high speed stuff, gotta keep the cg low so you don’t roll and flip as easy, it’s all about suspension travel and setup.

    Never mount LEDs right above the windshield. The beam isn't as focused as a sodium or HID so instead of the beam being controlled it floods out in all directions. LEDs should be mounted as far forward as possible. Literally if you can get a big LED bar on your grille without obstructing too much air flow to the radiator and condenser (if you still have that shit up there), ur chillin. If you dont believe me, try it. Youll be a believer when you do and thats the gospel truth. Point it down. You want the beam to terminate ON THE GROUND!!!!!! Any light thats pointed into empty space is wasted light. You dont want them pointed straight down at all, i would say, if the light sits 4 feet off the ground, you want tilted forward maybe 20°-35° is my guess for your application. My truck is right at 23°and my bar is 41 inches off the ground. My lighting is dialed. Absolutely perfect. I have 2 big HID KCs in the middle, a big LED bar mounted on the bumper below it, my OEM brights and regular beams run together with brights on and those are both the rigid GMC 1500 OBS LED headlight conversion. I have the KCs pointed to the left and right fairly generously, maybe 15°. So when approaching a corner, they light up the entry and at apex the exit. Thats also super important. If all your lights face straight forward, youre going to have a difficult time clipping the apex at night because you wont be able to see it when ur flicking the truck in. Just like you can only go as fast as you can stop, you cant go faster than what you can see. Lighting is so important and you do not i repeat do NOT have to spend thousands of dollars on overpriced LED units. Buy the cheap ones theyre all exactly the same shit when it comes down to it. My light bar is 100% just as powerful as my dads on his RZR, his was $800 and has some 7076 pieces on it, mine was $240 and is all composite. $560 for some anodized aluminum, not for me Jack.

    Can someone please tell James Holguin to hold the camera steady!!
    I like these videos and the content, but I can’t watch them. Way too shaky. I care about the vehicles and how they were built. I don’t want to watch the vehicle owner talk about his truck and only see half of a second of clear video of what he’s actually talking about.
    Maybe take some notes from Jay Leno’s Garage where the vehicle is the focus and not the owner of the vehicle.
