I miss THIS Weiss. Hell, I miss this level of quality of fight scenes. And by “THIS Weiss” I’m talking about her fighting style not her mental sanity.
They're working at it but its just not all the way there yet. They all use the same fighting style basically

@@InternetSyndicate Not really, i mean Weiss just uses her weapon as a wand now, and she doesnt engage hand to hand combat anymore. She also loves to abuse her dust now, which just makes her reliant on that and her summons. It was clever against Marrow but now its just a completely different shift from her original fighting style.
@@clingybish thats...kind of the issue. She just like everyone else all fight nearly the exact same with small differences. She lacks so much of the finesse and skill she used to have and just abuses her summoning ad nauseum. Its nowhere near as good as it used to be. If you look closely most of the fights are very samey. The movements and battle stages are very similar. Sure the scenery is different but they fight on all these flat ground areas and lack the dynamic movements that monty put in in the original fights including the interesting teamwork. Remember the move yang and blake did to break the paladin that torchwick was in?
Compare those to now and you have everyone fighting with pretty much the same fighting style adapted for a specific weapon if even that.
Edit: i will add that her using a lot of dust is not new. She already used a lot of dust, especially when making different glyphs. The only new thing she's doing is abusing her summoning. Its not a total shift of fighting style and if it was she'd have needed to spend much more time working at it than she has. Thats still poor writing. The issue is that like everyone else her combat went to shit after monty died and they ran out of his animations to use and they're trying to rebuild. So she like everyone else is beginning to get the flare back but its not all there.

I believe that Angel's semblance would be named kaleidoscope, quite appropriately, and it allows her to create a kaleidoscopic cage that, only inside, when she begins to win a fight, and the opponent holds doubt inside their mind, the semblance begins to curse the person, trapping them inside their own mind, forcing them to become who they never wanted to be, but who they believe they must be to survive
Henry Gentry if you ignore the wings and bird cage I think spider themed semblance would be cool. Spiders can sense prey using vibrations on the threads when prey gets caught. You could say that she creates a spider web made out of her aura to sense her enemies and has a secondary effect that ‘poisons’ her targets mind with her own madness. And her blindness could have been caused by some psychosomatic trauma from her past. Cool anti hero maybe.

I think it's glyphs. A corrupted form of them anyway. Given those memory flashes, seems evident to me that 'Angel' is meant to Weiss' mom after going through some major shit.

Weiss can actually really do all this in the show (maybe except for the red knight ripping the glyphs apart) yet she lost to Vernal, a regular bandit who just happened to fight decently with two blades. She was dumbed down all so she would lose, be killed by Cinder and let Jaune unlock his semblance. She hasn't even used time dilation in this animation and she's already this OP

Yeah exactly. That's his semblance, giving aura to others or what you call aura amplification. You can't give some of your own aura to charge back up other people's auras. Only Jayne can go that. They've outright stated it in the first episode's fight of V6 (by Weiss). She outright stated that it was HIS SEMBLANCE, amplifying aura
She didn't actually lose to Vernal, the fight was interrupted. Besides, Vernal was clearly the best in the tribe besides Raven, and has obviously spent most of her life fighting.

I’m going to take a shot at angels backstory so bear with me
I feel like her life was a lot like Weiss. Born into a rich family she was forced to sing at parties and such but when she wasn’t perfect angel was locked in her room. After disobeying multiple times she was locked in her room and forgotten (hence the forget me not at the beginning). She felt caged like a bird and started to lose her mind, soon she was taken out of her room to sing for a social event. But snapped and killed everyone and burning down her home but not before being blinded by someone trying to defend themselves. After this she was found by the red eyed person and together they founded her team.

Yes (and sorry I didn't reply sooner) angel is an OC but I was just taking a stab at her backstory could be from the context clues pick up in the video. And who knows I'm probably wrong but after rewatching this video I can think up a better explained backstory and that's just the fun of OCs like this.
My theory is that Angel is Weiss mother to this alternate universe.
She was keep by her husband Jacques Schnee in a cage-life experienced and in return he corrupted her by some dark power. Probably related to Salem or the God of Darkness influenced.

I would ask RT to ask this guy to join. RT is definitely improving with the fight choreography and it's impossible to perfectly copy Monty's special style but this guy who made this video gets "it". By "it" I mean that thing that nobody can replicate because it's your own touch. And this guy has that touch. In fact, I wonder if RT has seen this considering they're pretty in touch with the fan community. If not, they NEED to see this and hire the guy.

I know this is a year old but it be pretty hypocritical of Rooster Teeth to do that. Monty Oum(The original creator who died after season 2) made several fan made videos and helped him start his career and also started his fame a bit off of them. It would be REALLY disrespectful to Monty by doing that to fans and I'm sure Monty's fans would get onto them for that too. Could damage their ratings.
You should check out his videos. Dead Fantasy and Haloid. You'll notice a strong resplendence with those two and the first two seasons of RWBY

The ballet dancing is really nice because that is something that Monty Oum would have incorporated at sooner or later if he would be alive. Monty was also known to be a good dancer and it shows in his fights because they have a rhythm bringing a certain order in otherwise chaotic fights making them much more enjoyable.

I personally loved volume 6, but it's frustrating, because we know that CRWBY is capable of making these kind of fights, it's just their given so little time to do so. The difference is that Monty had literal years with the same software that by when he started RWBY, he was significantly faster when it came to these kinds of fights. I just hope RT learns at some point and gives volumes more time in the oven. It'd be a win win for most everyone involved I think.

Nicholas Reel They definitely could give it more time if it wasn’t for corporate. Since RWBY is a big money maker for Rooster Teeth, corporate often demands a new volume every year, giving them little time to work on the volumes. There are hints that they’d already been working on Volume 7 during/right after Volume 6 production. It’s not entirely CRWBY’s fault for being rushed so much like for Volume 5. (Granted they were being procrastinators for that volume but they also have a lot of other things on their plate)
I don't hate volume 4. 5 is a different story, but it has nothing to do with any fight scenes. Has to do with the writing. I haven't seen any of volume 6, so I will withhold my judgment on it. I will say, I have not heard good things about the story for volume 6, but, as I said, I haven't seen any of it.

Voice-Over Plays my thoughts to the t, but I believe most people just aren't thinking before they act.
In all honesty, he measures up pretty well to Monty if you ask me.

This guy has potential to match Monty’s eye for choreos and animation. With enough time and practice, he will continue improving. You’re also being a hypocrite by saying people hate being in the shadow of others when you’re the one putting this guy in Monty’s shadow.
Sure, Monty can never be replaced but that doesn’t mean that no one can match his skill as THEMSELVES.
(Also, this animator most likely had a lot more time, to make this animation, compared to Rooster Teeth.)

Your choreography is great & I loved your artistic ability with the patterns. If you do work with them think of it as a learning experience. You showed off more than a good fight. I saw a possible plot. You could be the next Monty creating something new.

I have emotional attachments to most characters in RWBY so seeing Weiss choking Ruby is nightmare fuel.
Theory Time:
So, I think given all the context clues this is supposed to be, or to symbolize, Weiss's mother, or possibly a close relative.
Primarily, the main giveaway is the color scheme of her in the past along with the stylistic choice of her abilities, giving it a similar, but not identical, appearance to the Glyphs Weiss uses.
More clues come from the scene when Weiss is dancing, the patterns on the floors are near identical, perhaps the woman here (who I dub as Angel) trained Weiss in ballet, or similar dance numbers, as Weiss seems to be able to remember the way the patterns move with her eyes closed, and the memory seems to bring her enough peace to summon a large amount of Glyphs which summon a replication of the Knight's sword.
As to what happened in the past? Well Angel's powers seems to stem from the black Glyphs she produces, perhaps a corruption of the purified form? We can't really tell for certain, but we do know it's more personally powered than Weiss's glyphs, which just spawn in the air. Angel's, instead, appear to focus on more physical things, such as creating structures or empowering the user.
The black glyphs (I'll call them Ink for simplicity) seem to follow the style of calligraphic writing, like with a fountain pen. Odds are it's Angels semblance. It grants the user a great deal of power, allowing Weiss, someone with no experience in it, to summon an absurd amount of projectiles apparently without much concentration involved. However, the user doesn't seem to have complete control of the Ink, and it seemingly "Corrupts" whatever it is inscribed in.
Angel, apparently in the past, was corrupted by her own glyphs, murdering a great deal of people and losing a large part of her sanity and control of herself. Weiss, in the present, seems to undergo a similar process, the Ink is inscribed upon her right side, and gives her a huge power boost, at the cost of control over herself. Her knight, normally a shining figure of protection, is instead changed into something with a similar style to a Grimm, and becomes a weapon of mass destruction.
The Ink seems to control through one of the most important pieces in RWBY lore; someones eyes.
Eyes are important. Ruby has silver eyes, meaning she's supposed to become a super strong huntress. Qrow and Raven symbolize the Ravens of Odin, Huginn and Muninn, and are represented by a complementary pair of eyes for their emblems. Yangs eyes (and presumably Tai-Yangs) turn red when angered or badly hurt. There's even a phrase, "the Eyes are the windows to the soul". Evidently, the Ink uses this 'window' to control someone, as evidenced by Weiss and Angel's eyes becoming "Inked" when under it's influence.
This explains why Angel is blind, she feared the Ink had too much power, and thus removed it's access to her, her eyes. She fights blind in order to prevent it from controlling her, and is in turn able to harness it for herself. Weiss still has her eyes, or isn't blinded at the very least, and thus is able to be influenced by the Ink (which causes her to attempt to strangle Ruby). The power the Ink grants is so much, when Weiss's knight charged it's attacks, Angel had to call upon it in order to defeat Weiss and her knight.
As for the bird part? It's a reference to around 18th century London. They would take singing birds, and blind them during the morning. This would mean they would just keep singing, over and over, until they died. Angel is apparently supposed to have this as her motif, being blind and having wings, along with the images of the dead Caged Bird.

The first thing that popped into my head is "I am the bone of my sword."
Datboi it's the creation aspect as Gilgamesh summons his swords while unlimited bladeworks copies the swords then creates an inferior copy to attack the foe. The ice swords look like they are being made and Unlimited bladeworks can be used in a manner similar to gate of Babylon after being cast hence bladeworks to me due to Weiss creating the ice swords.
Though the summoning of that monster can go to Gate of Babylon.
Christian mode could also think of Assassination Classroom regarding the moon...

Almost a year late but Weiss' setup was more Gate of Babylon. The Swords in the ground after Angel reflected them all DEFINITELY is a nod to Unlimited Blade Works.

Im guessing the fact she used her glyphs as location or a motion detector is amazing pls keep up the good work and bring out your creativity
no her glyph doesn't act as a locator apparently there was a post on the creators twitter with angels info though her semblance didn't have a name but anyway the glyph when on the floor is in it's offensive state where it slows anyone who comes in contact with it while degrading their sanity, it also allows her to instantaneously move to any point on the glyph, which we see her do a few times, like the beginning when she first attacks weiss for example, Then when on her back as the wings it's in it's defensive mode which provides a 360 defence, which detects and counters any and all threats
And because someone may ask why did she bother deflecting the swords herself if she has the 360 defence, I have three answers which could all could be wrong,
1. Angel did it as a way to show the weiss that, even with the enhancement weiss was given from both of their glyphs and despite weiss throwing dozens of swords at angel each second, angel was still better by a wide margin
2. It was tactical since we see angel block the first barrage of swords but instead of breaking or falling or something the swords stay in place until thrown away by angel, my assumption is that weiss was trying to brute force her way through angel's defence which failed but weiss and angel had noticed if only temporarily she'd managed to pin angel down, since the wings are physical so if you push them you push angel, leading to weiss shooting hundreds of sword in attempt at pinning angel down long enough for weiss to summon gigas so it could hopefully breakthrough angel's defence, but while opening herself up somewhat she's still in constant motion and has nothing really stopping her
3. it was just easier to deflect the swords than let them pile up to the point she may not be able to simply push them away like she did with the first volley or risk the combined force of all those swords pushing in on her they breakthrough her defence
I think this person should have been implemented into the full show, I think it’s a great backstory.

It seems Angel's semblance revolves around the concept of revenge. We catch glimpses of her childhood that appears traumatic. Furthermore, Weiss and ruby did not always get along, so when she was infected by Angels' darkness/semblance, she grew hostile to Ruby.

It's just that, after Monty died I believe that animation was set back-- he had so much he wanted to do still and would have taught so many more people his techniques, it genuinely breaks my heart. Seeing this, it makes me happy to see that his unique style hasn't completely died with him.
Stuff like this really makes me wish the show had this level of strategy and tactical thinking among combatants in its fights.

Madnessman the choreography is far more interesting than the new ones from vol 3-4. Sure this animation isnt as smooth as the real ones but those are produced by a whole team while this is produced by one person. Choreography is good and he has potential to improve even more.

Similar to Ruby's Red Trailer in comparison to Jaune's first on screen appearance in the show. Like Jaune and Ruby in Volume 1, there's nothing of Watts to compare to Angel.

Soarel we know nothing about them to call them boring where as everyone else has had 3 volumes to develop.
Giving them time to develop would mean the original villains, who I remind you, they put effort into developing and set up rivalries with the main protagonists with, wouldn't get any more focus. No Cinder, Em, Merc, or Neo anymore. They put so much time and effort into those characters and now they're just throwing them away.

🤔 You're right, she seems to be an adult. Seemingly she lost her eye sight during the fire, possibly at her home. The flowers in the meadow shot are the same as on the grip of her weapons handle.
Clearly she has been breaking free from a prison or similar, as suggested by the shot of the bird in the cave. Her spreading her wings next, means she is the bird in this metaphor.
I think, just like Weiss who can summon the knight she defeated, Angle can summon the cage she defeated and also 'cage' others, by controlling them...
Also her little scratch seemingly healed as she marked Weiss. As though she uses Weiss to heal. Also the pattern in Weiss's eye is the same as on Angle's weapon, so she seems to need this weapons to channel her power...
I noticed the man has red eyes, just like Grimm
or like Crow during his fight with Winter, so he might be a Branwen. Weather this man helped her to flee or caged her up, remains to be seen... But I think he helped her.👍
Now why would a Schnee attack another Schnee? Clearly Angle believe the entire Rwby team to be her enemy nor just Weiss, which I think could point to her having a bigger intentions... Maybe she does not even want to attack Weiss but believes she has too! Weiss does not seem to know her, even though they are from the same famous family. This means they did not grow up together... Maybe Angles existence is denied by her family... After all her name does not fit the entire winter theme perfectly. All Schnees are named after German words for well known phenomena in winter, expect for Angle...

I'm agreeing that her semblance is Ink(Dark Glyphs) And she blinded herself so she could use her semblance without it corrupting her sanity like it did to Weiss during the battle. It doesn't explain why she didn't kill Weiss herself instead of carrying her and placing her next to Ruby, who was defeated by Lee, but clearly still alive. Also, I'm going to bet that only Schnee family members can be permanently Inked. It would explain why the effects of the semblance persist even though Angel left. Also, I'm really excited for the Yang fight because it's probably going to be robot arm Yang. And even though Yang is gonna lose, I bet that she's still going to put up afight.

If she were to have gone nuts, why she'd so solemn when she fought Weiss...and I know she's blind, but it looked she knew all of Weiss's abilities...Implying that she's the kind of blind who can see you and know what you look like because if she were truly blind she wouldn't have known Weiss was a Schnee who uses Glyphs?! Also, who else felt like this whole battle was a test or something?
Well, actually Weiss's mother was referenced in the show, she's a drunkard and it was said she was home in Atlas staying as far away from her husband as humanly possible.
So here is what I got from this
This woman is Weiss's mother, When Weiss was little her father locked her mother in a room for probably a similar reason that he locked Weiss for, after being locked for too long she eventually had a breakdown as she felt like a bird in a cage and just like how we saw the schnee semblance can go out of control sometimes (like we saw with Weiss in volume 4) her semblance got corrupted and turned like that, so she went on a rampage and left the schnee family
When Weiss fought her mother and came in direct contact with the corrupted schnee semblance, it corrupted hers as well and caused her to go through a similar rampage that her mother had, which is why the giant knight became beseker and she went psycho

I'm guessing that Angel has some sort of relation to Weiss? As the 'cage' that was shown in the video had the Schnee emblem. I'd love to guess that she may possibly be an aunt or possible alternate reality self.. The theory of Angel being her mother is unlikely, as Weiss' mother was never said to have any condition, or any health related conditions like how Angel is wearing a blindfold. I'm just assuming Angel is blind but has heightened awareness, (Basically just a female Daredevil) Though it's also an amazing but crazy idea to think of Angel as maybe an evil clone of Weiss?
Maybe. Weiss's dad tried to create a clone as a puppet to force his will unto the Schnee company. He would look a lot better with a daughter of the Schnee family on his side.

So, I'm getting the feeling that this is more than just random fights and that there is a story going on here. And to be honest, your setting it up beautifully while also keeping us all in suspense. Your character are interesting and seem to be a true match to team RWBY in much a similar way as Tyrian. Except unlike Tyrian they're manageable enough to make a one on one fight interesting. Also, this 'Angel' seems to be a great foil to weiss on multiple levels.
I must ask, will we see Yang and Blake have to contend with the other half of team KCAL(i remember that panel from the first video for 30 days)? I can not wait to see who they would have to stand against, and how it adds to this story. I love your work and your are creating a very nice story. I hope you not only continue this project but also turn it into a full fan series (if you have the time of course) as it would be very well received. This story already had me on the edge of my seat and i can't help but wonder who are the member of KCAL are(I personally LOVE mohammad sharif's theory on angel a few comments down). If you are talking about the definition and image in general then yes the main series is kinda better, but the fighting animation has been really bad since Monty passed away, lackluster and slow as a snail to put it kindly. This fighting animation though, I have to say it again and again, is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G
jesuisoriginale pointcom The volumes 4-5 choreography were incredible shit until the end of volume 5. The storyline was tedious and the chapters were too short to keep me hanging on to it. I literally only watched it because I LOVED the series but now it's just some real hot garbage. This is SO much greater compared to all of volumes 4-5. Yeah the graphics could be a bit better and stuff but this leaves GOOD questions unanswered plus this single fight was better than all of volume 4 and almost all of 5 up until the Cinder and Raven fight.

Theory time:
It took me a while, but I think I have an idea of the blind woman's semblance. The black patterns she casts on the ground can cause the opposer touching it to lose their sanity, or have their mind corrupted. As seen, Weiss and the Blind Woman both wear the same crazy expression: wild eyes and a smile that screams homocide. Notice that the black patterns took over only one side of Weiss, (which happened when she fell on the patterns, her right hand touching them, spreading it throughout her right side.) Therefore, she isn't completely insane. (Which is why she snapped out of it after almost choking Ruby to death)
And Weiss avoids touching/ being touched by the black patterns any more by dancing around them when the Blind Woman begins to shift them around. And With every semblance there's a drawback, and this one is that the insanity also kinda works against the user. When the insanity took over, Weiss seemed to be less cautious, more reckless, seemed to move more... freely.
( They always say the the more psychotic the character the more powerful)
I'm curious about the Blind Woman, like why is she blind? Maybe it had to do with the bleeding eyes? Or was that symbolic? How did she lose her sanity? Was it due to being locked up? Was she abused/tormented? Or maybe she was insane from the beginning which was the reason why she was locked up?
You did an amazing job animating this. Not a lot of people can animate like this and make something fanmade this good especially because Weiss is like perfect minus the missing scar on her left eye. I like how you put a pattern and changed the colour of her right eye. This is wonderfully done. Amazing job well done.

REALLY, is it SO HARD for RT to hire talent like THIS, and put time into making their fight scenes instead of outright ignoring them entirely. I hope that RT doesn't forget it was months choreography and excellent pacing in his work that even got the show discovered in the first place.
King Arthur Thank GOD I'm not the only one who has noticed this. Every time I mention it, some fan goes wild and makes up excuses like "there doesn't have to be a fight in every episode". Well, there doesn't need to be a fight for the sake of story either. Volume 2 started off with an epic full episode food fight and that contributed nothing to the story because it was just for shits and giggles and it was awesome! RT is intentionally avoiding fights as much as possible and, even when there is a fight, I noticed that they do some shortcuts. For example, there was a huge opportunity to showcase a battle between Adam and Khan but they just decided to take the cliche route and kill her mid-speech. That's a lazy way to kill off an important and powerful character. It'd be understandable to kill her mid-speech if she didn't suspect anything wrong but she clearly knew shit was about to go down.
