Ellis Lynn hey brother, don’t think the god damn goes with liking this version as the lyrics are clearly about waiting for Christ and repentance. All good though.

There's a sadness to them; a longing for an ideal of patience that's hard to actually live up to. Yet there's hope there. Over time patience becomes nourishing, a beacon that bathes the spirit in warmth.
I don't know... I guess that's the beauty in song... words coupled to music, begging for meaning, and every mind hearing the same thing through a new facet of interpretation.

All Mumford's stuff is amazing, I found this long ago but still like the new version on Babel. Don't think this band could write/perform or sing anything less than AMAZING! love Mumford!!!!
Here I am, I remember sitting in my basement as a kid before I was 16(going thorough my 29th now) and my mom heard your song from my desktop in the other room, this song. Told me one day we’d see you guys when you came to Toronto…..she passed away from an addiction Feb 2021. One day I’ll see you guys from the back corner with a box of tissues raising a glass and wishing she was there to bob and sway to this, like the goofy loving women she was.
when you get to see them, she may not be physically there with you, but her spirit will. 🍹

I love the fact that they make brilliantly graceful songs like sigh no more, really heartfelt jumping round dancing songs as well but they also do immensely awesomely random songs on top of that like where is my heart! I love mumfordy sons, pure folking genius!!! =D
I can't get enough of this song! The evocative lyrics, the soulful vocals, the heart-throbbing rhythm and the piercing melody and harmony. Mumford & Sons are the embodiment of true musicians! Thank you for your creations!

I LOVE MUMFORD AND SONS!!! They are real musicians and I love the fact they dont let fame go to there head. you can tell they play music from the heart and they do it cause they love it!
every time i am having a bad day i go on a Mumford and sons video and search desperately for one of your comments in the hope that it will brighten up my day, which it always does.
I personally like this better than "I will wait." I feel like the the titular lines break up the flow of the song. They're both still awesome, though.

So there are 3 versions of this song floating around the internet. The original, the first album, and the refined one that they tour with that has electric guitars. It's doesn't matter, it's still a great song in all forms.

Alot of people love them here in South Africa! They DO NOT get played on the radio here at all, but as someone said they are being heard ALOT!

It isnt supposed to sell. bumping bass lines and repeatable lyrics sell but this doesnt have to sell for it be beatiful. i just thought 'let's listen to this song, i've never heard it before' and i realized that i watched this video a long time ago and JUST remembered and realized it's the now famous I Will Wait. they really have magic in them.
They just played in Hamilton, ON and this song was absolutely wonderful... They added a lovely little bit to the chorus and it was fabulous...

I really like this version too - perhaps because it was the first way I heard it and the way it is so mournful and pretty. I have grown to really like the Babel version though also and it's a toss up which one I now prefer.
This version is so much better then the 'I will wait' version that is popular now. Better pace, better build, less repetitive.

Like everyone at my school loves or at least knows of them as do most people i know!! Seeing as i'm from reading where THE reading festival happens every year I think i can accurately say that they are a well-known band with MANY fans. The last time they played reading they got a MASSIVE crowd who sung along to EVERY song WORD FOR WORD and they weren't even on the main stage. Like someone previously mentioned... 'Just because the radio's not playing it doesn't mean it's not being heard'
This song, as it is in this video, really is one of their best songs. I'm very disappointed that they changed it over time (as you can hear in more recent video's of this song).
I hope they repent and put this version on their new album!
