4:40 I don't know if that's the most convincing argument for DICE awards being more professional. Valiant Hearts had commentary on the nature of men and how war brings nothing but death and despair for all parties involved using the medium of a 2d side-scroller set in WW1. It illustrated both sides of the conflict and tried to take a sympathetic lens to each character it gave screentime to. I would argue that's far more impactful of a story than someone's Lord of the Rings fanfiction. It's less remembered because it's not a third-person, open-world, action-adventure game that came out on console and had the Nemesis System.
There is value in both awards shows the game awards should embrace the fact that they're essentially a big popularity contest and advertising platform for the industry and DICE should lean more into the fact that the awards are choosen by people within the industry, there's value in both what the majority think are some of the best games of the year and what devs think are the best games of the year
Yep, I definitely agree! I should have mentioned I do also like the fact that The Game Awards has reveals, makes it feel distinct as a show from some of the others.
This is an actually pretty useless video NGL, you comparing who won in each award show ended up being purely your subjective opinion and you just guessing based on what you've heard about each game as you hadn't even played more than half of them. Both awards shows are valid and cause discussion amongst the community, that's all that matters.
Nice video, never heard of DICE awards or understood the distinction. Will definitely throw a shout-out to Stray though, I bought it for the novelty but ended up loving it through to the end, incredibly unique and dark story, great soundtrack and atmosphere
As far as I'm concerned the people that actually are on the panel are usually game yournalists not actual journalists. Also the Oscar's are a complete joke now too. The game awards should be voted on gamers not nobody that don't play games.

The Game Awards ARE voted on by players. AND critics and journalists. But they are gamers too lol.
