    Hey stranger. Your Facebook admin here. Hope all is well!! I got this exact sharpener for Christmas and oh boy!! I love this thing!! It’s amazing, isn’t it?

      Stranger. Yeah. Been a bit preoccupied these days. Glad you like the sharpener. Not too many that can sharpen charcoal like this. :-)

    I usually use KUM sharpeners, because I use many of my pencils for different shading tones, wide lines etc. For fine details, I use mechanical pencils like 0.5mm and 0.3mm. This sharpener puts a crazy good long tip, that will not only allow details but will also last longer before the pencil needs sharpening again, that's a huge plus! Since it works on softer pencils, this could be a must have for many artists. Like everything, time will add the experience needed to use it easier with more proper results! I don't think I've seen such a long point, that wasn't thin and easy to break!

      If you mean the KUM Masterpiece, it's expensive for a handheld sharpener, but it's worth it. What I like is that you can put a traditional point on the lead with the second hole, or use a sanding block to put a chisel point on after the first hole strips off the wood.
      At home, I use the Derwent long point crank sharpened. It gives a long point but at an angle that makes it a lot stronger than the AFMAT. It also gives a great regular point just by stopping sooner.

      @@jamesaritchie1 That concave point, that some sharpeners provide, isn't just stronger, but it also allows the perncil to write or draw for longer time, before it needs sharpening again!
      That said, that pros, are in the same time the cons for my needs, because the concave shape, eliminates the use of the side of the tip, which can create shadings, cover large areas fast or draw thick lines when sketching/drawing.
      I use mechanical pencils for both writing or drawing details. That's why I choose KUM sharpeners!

    I have this exact looking sharpener but mine is a Tihoo electric sharpener, AC powered for 6-12mm coloured pencils. It doesn't recommend using this for more abrasive cores like Pastel pencils or charcoal, but I'm a rebel and found it works well for these too. I did find taking the more gingerly approach, sharpening slowly a bit at a time to check the progress worked best for me too. The super long points on graphite and coloured pencils is amazing. I recommend this Tihoo sharpener as an alternative, if the Afmat is unavailable.

      It's likely the same manufacturer. Often I find that companies buy their product from another source and slap their label on them.

    AFMAT products are great, but seem to lack longevity. I haven't use this sharpener, but I have had two others, and both broke within three months. I also tried an AFMAT electric eraser. It had no power at all. and was nearly useless. I'll stick to my Derwent and DAHL crank sharpeners at home, and my KUM Masterpiece longcone sharpener, and General's standard sharpeners when away from home.
    I also have a Boston electric sharpener that is ,ore than thirty years old, but still works perfectly.

    Hi Rix what notebook do you use to test your pencils for writing in your reviews ?

      Just regular lined paper. Nothing special. Paper school children usually use.

    Why did you stop keto ? And your fitness journey?

    • @RixCanDoit
      @RixCanDoit  2 роки тому +1

      A pandemic, gym closed, stuck at home with nothing to do... I returned to a keto-ish diet (low carb) two months ago and shed 20 lbs. It's slow going. We moved so I'm not so exited about local gym but go a few times a month. Bottom line, I am not focused on working out as I'm a very busy 63 year old. But I'm still in pretty good shape. :-)
