Oh that's why. That's funny. That means at least 8... Or maybe 7, I dunno what's in Jupiter's red spot... But at least that many planets with two deep space discount stores.
@@GeneralJerrard101 Well actually Jupiter's red spot is where all Deep Space Discount Stores spawn from, fully formed, we then tow them to their new home using our secret cloaking system and....[REDACTED] stand by for location tracing, location found, stand by....
Okay, before I start, I'm on a bit of drunkin bender, so I want you to know that no of this comes from any hostility or anger. That being said, DAFUQ you MEAN? that's "roughly the number of known Planets in the universe!?" [TL;DR that is a wild claim to make. There no definitive number, nor any definitive estimation, of Planets in the universe, and trying to claim that store number was reference to said unknowable number, rather than just a random string of numbers is kind-of crazy] First of all, the number of "Known Planets," being any celestial object recognized/discovered as a Planet(Exo, Rouge, Gas Giant, or otherwise) is somewhere between 5,000 and 8,000, of which an exact number is rather unreliable, as the validity/confirmation of these planets are constantly being examined and re-examined as more information and observations are gathered. Some planets are added to the list, some are contested, and others are found to be something else than a planet and declassified as a planet. For example, remember that one ringed planet they found that had Saturn like rings stretching almost as wide as our own solar system[J1407b]? Well, more observations were made, and eventually the planet seemed to disappear from it's system after some time. Now the Astrological community believe it was a rouge planet passing in front of the star several magnitudes closer to us than the star we assumed it orbit. But either way, we can no longer find this planet, so we can't say anything with certainty until we spot it again. Secondly, any estimations of "the number of planets in the universe" are wildly varied, depending on a number a different variables with different values based on who you ask. Like, how many planets orbit an average star system? How many stars even create Planets? How many planets have gone rouge and float in deep space between stars? What the average number of planets per Star or Galaxy? Hell, How many Stars/Galaxy are there? Do we even know the Size of the Universe? Can the Observable Universe be considered "Everything"? and how sure are we that we know the exact size? Granted, I am throwing a bunch of question with any number of unspecified assumptions, but even if you do take a stance and just plug in some reasonable numbers to the variables, you still have wildly different conclusion to the "how many planets are there in the universe?" Just a quick google search gives guesses around 700 quadrillion (7*10^20) or even 1 Nonillion (1x10^30), and again, you could easily argue smaller or large numbers. So the 2.085 Octillion number, that is the store Id number, is just as valid an answer as randomly generating any number between 1 and Googol. Which is a long ramble trying to say that the store number is not a fun science Easter Egg. Is just a random sting of number that sound insanely large to add humor to the comedy video about a AI ruled Discount Space Store, with store all across the universe, using space prison labor to supplant their own labor force because they couldn't play a living wage to their former employees.

@@Jonnyg325yeah but imogen says that humanity isn't aware of alien life so it seems like earth is at the same level as it is now when it comes to space stuff.
I'm willing to bet it was inadvertently offending some visiting alien royalty at her normal Retail job. And that's why this is so panic-inducing to Imogen.
@@alonosh7184 I like to think she got abducted almost auctioned off to some horrific fate (hence the hands when she is having a panic attack) and then during her escape did *something terrible* in self-defense that the court didn’t agree with
@Jonnyg325 My guess is that she was a test flight pilot for an FTL ship (not sure how she passed with her eyesight, but the glasses are cute) and her ship took her to the other side of the galaxy, or even universe, and she crashed into a king or empress or something by accident because the coordinates were in that direction. So, in about five seconds, she has to process that she's light-years past where she should have been, can't get home, aliens exist, her ship killed someone, that someone was very important, now she's being arrested AND she can't even speak the language until she gets fitted with a translator.
OMG this is SO CUTE! I can already tell it's gonna be a hilarious satirical takedown of capitalism and the prison system! Also, I'm SO curious about what Immy DID! I bet it was a complete accident!
3:34 - The sheer number of store locations implies a BLAME!-esque expansion of the corporation across the stars, and the LORE POTENTIAL for that is WILD.
Best Buy getting a hold of the paperclip maximizer ai and replacing 'paperclip' with 'Best Buy' as an origin for a collapsing corporate empire is way more disgusting and realistic than my memory of Blame. My mind is racing now..
The retro vibe, the tiny background details, the relatable characters, the crushing and corrupt exístence of capitalistic society, the mystery of why our protagonist is in prison. Truly you have done it! Your sentence has been reduced by: 6 minutes and 16 seconds. Your remaining sentence is: As long as we keep liking your content.
I've been thinking a lot lately about what makes an effective opening for a story (especially one that requires a ton of world-building), and watching this felt like a much-needed refresher on How To Write Good. Great pacing, instant feedback for viewer every time a new unusual topic was introduced via Immy's exclamations (so we know we're not supposed to understand this stuff yet), incredibly natural reveals of context and mysteries and plot hooks...man. This ruled. I can't wait to see this story open up.
While your animation skills are frequently complemented for excellent reasons, you are also just an incredible storyteller. It takes skill to dial down all the important parts of a story to a 5 minute episode without losing either pacing or subtle character elements but you manage to do it every single time without fail. Just the right amount of mystery without abandoning the audience and just the right amount of heart to balance out the brutality of the plot. So well done. I cannot wait for more
Vee reminds me a lot of the supervisor at my last (badly-paying) job. Human equivalent of the Duracell bunny, cheerful, little bit overwhelming at times - but overall just trying to look out for everyone, give us the support and practical help she never got as a newbie. Thanks Freya, wherever you are x
I've been using this website for about 15 years, I have never before asked for a notification. I'm so stoked to watch this, go DBI! edit: Wow, it looks so fun, there's lore and mystery, I just loved it!
The only struggle I had watching this was trying to figure which character was my favorite/ which character I related to most. Amazing stuff DBI, can’t wait for next Friday
This is amazing!!! While setting is important, I am definitely more engaged by a character driven narrative. Even though it's only been six minutes, I can see so much of their character already! I adore Vee, Kip is probably going to sneak in through the back to become my favourite, I need to give Immi a hug, and the snippets of everyone else were so engaging! I know everyone focuses on the animation, but you're such a good writer! The characterisation is so alive, and I can't wait to see more!
On rewatch one of my favorite background eastereggs (?) Is the sign during the protest saying "bring back the guillotine" That is just gold (it also implies that this intergalactic civilization had guillotines at one point which I love)
I SAW THE CREDIT FOR NARCISSISTS COOKBOOK AND BUG HINTER IN THERE, HYPED FOR THEIR CAMIOS (also just generally exited for the show, it’s incredible so far!)
What a solid first episode! A lot of intrigue is obviously being built up here, but even beyond that, I love how human our hero feels. I, too, would probably crash out if I learned I had to endlessly deal with people in a place like that for the foreseeable future. I’m glad this is turning out to be more than just a comedy, not that it’d be disappointing if that was the case, I’m eager to see a tone we haven’t gotten a chance to see before from you! Excited for more!
This is amazing, adorable, depressing, and horribly realistic all at once. Incredible work as always, DBI! (And don’t think we didn’t notice MrsBlueInk in the credits, either - it’s nice to know that animated proposal videos have a solid success rate!)
I wonder if time can be *added* to their sentence? Like, Clayre's kill count (I mean, delightful hands on cryo demos), should get more time added. Vee already owns my heart, she's perfect. I don't know if the black bit above her mouth is a lip, beak, or mark, but it's perfect.
Truly nothing I love more than youtube animators making their own lil shows! Like yes, we all LOVE the fan/pop culture animations. But getting to see the true passion of an animator is truly a joy
That was a really good first episode! I like these characters already and can't wait to see more! Also Kip just yelling when they're welcoming Immy. Poor Immy.
Every single one of those posters was absolutely amazing and I kept pausing the video to read them all. Cannot wait to see what all comes from this series!
this activates my neurons i am looking at this show and the brain cells are lighting up and im so goddamn INTERESTED. with the length of episode being only 6 minutes you somehow expertly balanced introducing us to the premise and main cast! i already love these characters!! im already hooked on the plot and the world!!! how'd you do that!! its only 6 minutes!!! whaddahell!!!! incredible work im so excited for ep 2
The comedic timing of this is so good, especially love the bits where things just go one for way longer than they should. Like that handshake that just kept going, and the store number just being SO FUCKING LONG. It was really funny.
Fascinating (if horrifyingly dystopian) premise, fun characters, incredible hook with Imogen being a fish out of orbit... Oh yeah, this is going to be a _lot_ of fun. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.
SO EXCITED! Waiting for this already has me cheering, you’ve got such an expressive style of animation and a killer sense of humour, so to see them combined for something so big and original has me losing my mind. I can’t wait to get swept along on whatever ride you have in store. Me and the lads have got a little watch party planned, and I just know it’ll be a blast! Congrats on launching your baby, DBI!!
Oh my god hearing about the watch party genuinely put the biggest smile on my face. I kind of forgot that people are actually going to see this, y'know?
@ Delighted to have made you smile with this hastily approaching reality! The wild truth that people have alarms set to catch your new creation is one you deserve to know and be bamboozled by.
This series already shows so much promise! I need to know what Immy did to get here! Also, I love all the background details like the absolutely insane posters.
I have yet to watch this (for obvious reasons) but i would bet all the money and then some that this is going to be one of the best pieces of art this website has ever been graced with. I'm not sure what to expect, but i am doubtless gonna enjoy the heck out of it
17 hours later and I was right. This was truly amazing - the premise alone is awesome but the little glances of character and the animation quality ... I'm in awe, truly
Post watch party and it didn’t disappoint!! We had a blast! Your character animation is full of life as ever, the background gags were super fun to try and spot (we loved every poster), and the concept is super fun!! We can’t wait for more of The Lore. I can’t wait to see where this is going, the cast is a great collection of characters (Clayre appeared for mere moments but became an early fave) and we weren’t expecting to get so immediately hit by feelings. Having Immy so out of place and showing how much it’s affecting her (in an unexpected gut punch, very relatable dissociating panic kinda way) without explaining why she’s even there, but then having that flash at the end of her sentence and ????? - perfectly cut pilot end tbh. And as a final detail the way Deedee got the giant pupils when their voice went dead-automated at the end was just that perfect little extra splash of sinister mascot energy. Watch party success and we are all looking forward to more!! Great work DBI!!!
So this is what Uzi from meant by "JCJensen in SPAAAAACE."; LOL !!! Anyway I loved this episode; a very cute introduction and this art-style is so simple and fun to watch. :') Also, I am so glad to see Cat Protano in more projects (she is the voice of Zelda and Ashley in Pringus McDingus' animated shorts) and Marissa Lenti is here too !!! DeeDee and Bucket are already my favourite characters. ;')
Well this is definitely one of the most amazing things to ever begin I see Kip is wearing Gub's name badge, and choose to believe that Kip lost his and stole one of Gub's, hoping not to get in trouble for not wearing his own, lol I love everything about this. I love that you took your own unique character design and turned it into something new and cool! So excited for episode 2!
already in love with the plot, the setting, all the characters, Vee helping Immy out and wanting to make everything less scary makes my heart sing. Im gonna just rewatch this on loop till the next ep comes out~
TV head robot characters are my absolute favorite òvó can't wait for more Bucket content :D Also what *did* she do? How'd Immy get here? Why is Kip wearing a Gun nametag? So many questions! Super excited for this to continue
I’ve come to the conclusion that my phone’s screen just isn’t big enough for me to experience the magnitude of amazing this show contains. Time to go to Best Buy.
This is so incredible. Im in tears of joy that you have your own creative endevor. Its all so very good and your style is always so charming. This is a superb piece of art I LOVE IT!
The trailer made me intrigued and episode 1 got me hooked!! I’m so excited to go on this ride!! Proud of everyone involved for making such an awesome story concept come to life

My guess is that she was a test flight pilot for an FTL ship (not sure how she passed with her eyesight, but the glasses are cute) and her ship took her to the other side of the galaxy, or even universe, and she crashed into a king or empress or something by accident because the coordinates were in that direction.
Capitalism is the real bad guy! Brennan would be proud
3:34 - The sheer number of store locations implies a BLAME!-esque expansion of the corporation across the stars, and the LORE POTENTIAL for that is WILD.
Blame is small by comparison, the number of stores rivals the number of planets in the entire milky way.
Best Buy getting a hold of the paperclip maximizer ai and replacing 'paperclip' with 'Best Buy' as an origin for a collapsing corporate empire is way more disgusting and realistic than my memory of Blame. My mind is racing now..
Only comparison I know is Buy n large
could be comprised of coordinates as well as number assignment, but I agree there is LORE here
What's _BLAME!_ ?
1:36 ouuughhh implying that immy’s a dangerous criminal
The retro vibe, the tiny background details, the relatable characters, the crushing and corrupt exístence of capitalistic society, the mystery of why our protagonist is in prison.
Truly you have done it!

Oh gosh ❤️
The real deep space discount is the ability to watch on UA-cam for free
I love the tiny detail at the end where DeeDee calls her Imogen and she flinches a little at hearing it. Great attention to detail!
Oooh I didn't notice that. Good looking out!
I cannot wait for more
Rewatching and just caught the " * ask graphics team to change overlay " at @1:15
The little details in DBI's work is always so good!
Kip looks like alien Zac Oyama, and I'm here for it.
I HAD THE SAME THOUGHT. For just a moment, before Kip spoke, I wondered if we were about to hear Zac's voice!
(s)Kip: "Right on"
@lillianb8762 I didn't want to say, because the voice actor did an amazing job, but I felt the same thing!
Hmm, Zac Oyama already looks like an alien though... does not compute.
@@Mark_257 HIDDEN BRAIN SLUG! GET'IM!!!
"423 years?! What did you do??!!" Hahaha! This is so cute and charming, I love it!
No DBI video would be complete without me watching it a million times to look for Easter eggs
SAME normally I’d just be like “eh I’ll catch it after work” but I was Determined to be here right away for it.
The only struggle I had watching this was trying to figure which character was my favorite/ which character I related to most. Amazing stuff DBI, can’t wait for next Friday
FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE YEARS ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-NINE DAYS SEVENTEEN HOURS AND FORTY-THREE MINUTES!
that's my new battle cry
thats a very good vocal stim i agree i agree
This is amazing!!! While setting is important, I am definitely more engaged by a character driven narrative. Even though it's only been six minutes, I can see so much of their character already! I adore Vee, Kip is probably going to sneak in through the back to become my favourite, I need to give Immi a hug, and the snippets of everyone else were so engaging! I know everyone focuses on the animation, but you're such a good writer! The characterisation is so alive, and I can't wait to see more!
I love Kip "running" away at 4:03 - awesome work all around DBI! Gonna go back and pause on every bit of background art now 😅
On rewatch one of my favorite background eastereggs (?) Is the sign during the protest saying "bring back the guillotine"
That is just gold (it also implies that this intergalactic civilization had guillotines at one point which I love)
Space France
I SAW THE CREDIT FOR NARCISSISTS COOKBOOK AND BUG HINTER IN THERE, HYPED FOR THEIR CAMIOS (also just generally exited for the show, it’s incredible so far!)
I screamed when I saw it too
3:15 jacob drawfee? in bug form?
With absolute sincerity, we're all proud of you.
Love this, the VAs did a great job and the animation was great as always. I'm excited to find out Immy's backstory.
Theme song is amazing! I keep going back and playing it.
I'm already hooked in, this is basically Parks and Rec meets Futurama!!! Love the writing, animation, and especially it's voice cast 🥰🥰🥰
I love that comparison!!!!!!!
I can hear BDG reading all the poster slogans! Great work everyone! 💙💛🤘🏻
Truly nothing I love more than youtube animators making their own lil shows! Like yes, we all LOVE the fan/pop culture animations. But getting to see the true passion of an animator is truly a joy
Well damn. I don’t think I’ve ever been hooked this well.
Kip just yelling when everyone else is shouting "welcome" is so funny
Thanks for noticing that 😂
That was a really good first episode! I like these characters already and can't wait to see more!
Also Kip just yelling when they're welcoming Immy. Poor Immy.
Holy shit this was randomly served to me by Our Algorithmic Master but I am so invested already.
The details! My favorite is probably the computer logo at 3:50 being a planet with a bite on it. Chef's kiss.
Fascinating (if horrifyingly dystopian) premise, fun characters, incredible hook with Imogen being a fish out of orbit...
Oh yeah, this is going to be a _lot_ of fun. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.
No joke would watch 6 seasons and a movie of this concept. Incredible work
Def joining the exclusive ranks of "content I'll watch the second it's dropped". Excited!
Ooooooh massive discounts at the low low cost of massive casualties you say! Sounds great!
DeepBlueInk I love them SO MUCH 😭😭😭😭😭
I can't spend a day without watching this episode again and again
Also, I am so glad to see Cat Protano in more projects (she is the voice of Zelda and Ashley in Pringus McDingus' animated shorts) and Marissa Lenti is here too !!! DeeDee and Bucket are already my favourite characters. ;')
Well this is definitely one of the most amazing things to ever begin
I see Kip is wearing Gub's name badge, and choose to believe that Kip lost his and stole one of Gub's, hoping not to get in trouble for not wearing his own, lol
I love everything about this. I love that you took your own unique character design and turned it into something new and cool! So excited for episode 2!
I really need an extended version of that intro song, it's honestly such a jam
already in love with the plot, the setting, all the characters,
Vee helping Immy out and wanting to make everything less scary makes my heart sing.
Im gonna just rewatch this on loop till the next ep comes out~
TV head robot characters are my absolute favorite òvó can't wait for more Bucket content :D
Also what *did* she do? How'd Immy get here? Why is Kip wearing a Gun nametag? So many questions! Super excited for this to continue
Holy cow this was insane. I especially appreciate Bucket's performance. They truly have a way with words.
This is absolutely delightful! I'm so excited for what's to come for the rest of the series!!!
All this to say, great job DBI!!
I’m so excited!!!! Blue this is a huge accomplishment and everything is going to go great. Sending all the love and congrats to you, BT, and Bo ❤
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I'm so excited! This is amazing and I'm so curious about Immy's backstory!
Can't wait to see their backstories. DeepBlueInk gonna make us cry?
Bucket already has my whole entire heart without even saying a word
This is so cuute! Can't wait to see where it goes!
AMAZING! Had to pause to read all of the signs, absolutely hilarious and can’t wait to see the rest!
Worked at Best buy for 8 years, toys r us for a few before that. Ya hit the nail on the head
This is how I learned that you can comment on a video before it premieres???? I'm excited to watch it tomorrow!
I’ve come to the conclusion that my phone’s screen just isn’t big enough for me to experience the magnitude of amazing this show contains.
Time to go to Best Buy.
i've had the sleep work song stuck in my head since the trailer dropped i'm so HYPED!!!!!
Love the little detail of Kip having a Gub name tag
STOKED I've been looking forward to this all week!
This is so incredible. Im in tears of joy that you have your own creative endevor. Its all so very good and your style is always so charming. This is a superb piece of art I LOVE IT!
First time I’ve ever asked UA-cam to notify me about anything, and this was SUCH a delight!!
The trailer made me intrigued and episode 1 got me hooked!! I’m so excited to go on this ride!! Proud of everyone involved for making such an awesome story concept come to life
Can't wait to see it, Deep Blue Ink! Your animations are always so well crafted, fun, and created. I can't wait to see your original project!
This looks like so much fun!!! I can’t wait for 3 seasons and a spin off movie!!
My gf glanced over my shoulder as i was watching this, got sucked in immediately, and is already shipping immy and vee.
I love this show!
I mean, it's too obvious. Mark my words, it'll be Immy and Clayre by the end of the series.
This is awesome!!! The characters are already so charming. I can’t wait to see more!
