Probably best to go with the 55 chains instead. Once you make the chain and attach it to the hood, try it on and figure where it will land on you (taking into account 10" folding up for the pocket).
Found the written pattern for this and had to try. Then I realized it was Naztazia and had to watch the video. I've said it before and I will say it again, Naztazia is my go to. I've been crocheting for 20+ years but have some issues getting my brain and hands to cooperate when working with a written pattern and tend to rely on videos. I actually found the written pattern to be clearly written and easy to follow. Managed to make it through making the entire hood before needing to check the video to make sure I was going in the right direction. Thank you for all the work you put in to your videos. I know if I'm following a Naztazia video that my project will turn out! Now I'm off to try and find the perfect pattern to make a blanket for my 15 year old. (If anyone has any suggestions that'd be amazing! I made her a blanket when she was born and I wasn't that in to crocheting and definitely not my best work lol but she won't let me get rid of it, only replace it lol)
This is so smart! When I first saw this I thought the hood would be made separately and then attached- this way is even better because it ensures that its even! Genius! Thank you for this 🙏
4:06 Thank you for another fantastic tutorial and thank you for posting the number of stitches needed based on height. It’s a great help. Added too that for every 8 inches taller than 5’9” tall add 10 stitches to the count. For example 6’5” your stitch count would be 85. I have a very tall family. The tallest was 6’9”.
I found your channel from an article on crochet hood scarves, which led me to your blog, only the PDF was broken (or perhaps I just couldn’t open it). I’m so happy to find your channel and really excited and grateful for this video! This is an exceptional pattern so simplistically made to follow!! I’m making a hooded scarf with pockets for my 13 yr old son, in deep green to carry his devices - it fits nicely under his oversized hoodie or jacket and the deep pockets are ideal for his phone and Nintendo switch, or 3DS! It’s more secure to carry them in inner pockets if he’s wearing a coat or hoodie. It’s also versatile enough for indoors or out, with any type of clothes. Plus, it has a hood like LOTR or a bit like Link’s hat from Legend of Zelda. He’s also excited bc it’s exactly what he was looking for. Thanks ❤
Naztazia you never cease to amaze me lady☺. You create pretty easy patterns/stitches that make it really easy to follow along with and they're usually pretty quick tutorials. I love that!!!! Tyfs God bless you
So cute 🥰 love. How Easy this to follow along with. I like how you show a close up of what your doing makes It easier For me to understand! I am knitting 🧶 as I am still trying to Get the hang of the cross over from knitting to crocheting
Hi, what a wonderful pattern. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Any chance you could guide me on making it smaller for a child please?
I absolutely love ❤️ this hooded scarf 😍 I'm definitely starting one on Monday. Thank you so much for your tutorial. Sending hugs all the way from CapeTown South Africa 🇿🇦
Absolutely beautiful!!! You made this so easy. Been looking for a pattern to make a hooded scarf with pockets and yours is by far the best!!! Thank you so much for sharing!! 💚😊💚😊
Thank you so much for the answer. So fond of you work and love to watch the crochening it make me a bit blind to the letters... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Thank you again for your lovely projects ❤️❤️
I love your patterns Donna! They’re so easy to follow and the items look amazing when they’re done! 💞💖💞 As an added plus to me watching you, I hold my crochet hooks EXACTLY like YOU DO! HA! That’s a win, win for me! 🥰 Thanks for everything! 🧡🧶🧡
Oh my love this. If I use a 5.5 or 6mm hook what would the number of chains and the hdcs on the hood part be please? The 10mm hook is too big for the fluffy yarn, I'm using.
Hi Donna, I am loving this scarf.... I have made 2 in the last couple of days 🤩 Could you tell me how to adapt this for children as I have no idea how to do this? Thank you in advance 🥰🥰
First of all, I love your patterns love love love I have a question about this pattern. I made the scarf with the pockets. I’m using 4 worse yarn and I use size 6 mm hook. Now I’m making this with the same size yarn. Should I use the same size hook 6 mm and what alterations will I have to do to your pattern?

I've got one question, you say from 5' ch 65, I am 5'2 but I've got very short arms, would you recommend to go for just 55???
Thank you Donna
