I'm I the process of crocheting this shawl. It's coming up nicely though it seems that when I crochet the two rows of DC I seem to end up with an extra stitch

Quick question...If I wanted to lengthen this shawl just a bit for a larger person, is the foundation chain multiples of 2+1 or multiples of 4+1? Thank you! ✌🏻
Row 7 you say to place a dc in second hdc then dc across the entire row. The written instructions doesn’t mention to skip the first hdc. Matter of fact instead of 199 stitches the pattern now states 200 stitches. Is the video correct or the written instructions? I can’t move ahead unless I have the correct answer please. This will be a birthday gift for my elderly mother in a couple of weeks.
Why towards the beginning, it has 6 rows blohdc, then 2 rows dc, but at the end it has 1 row dc and 6 rows hdcblo …. Should I add another row of dc before the 6 rows of hdc toward the end of the shawl? Halp

How do you attach the pockets? Can they be align with the shawl… like …run in the same direction… how would I make that?

We work the front post into the 2nd dc row at the beginning so visually it is only one dc row.
