When you think of a weapon that has broken a game what comes to your mind? There’s some literal examples then there’s weapons so overpowered that they tip the scale of balance on its head. Then there’s one in elden ring we have already talked about, how it almost ruined the game, the rivers of blood kitana. But.. what if I led you the wrong way, what if there was one weapon that could be any weapon in the game while you used your own? See, this isn’t a video about a weapon, this is a video about a spirit summon that can create any weapon and build, this is what happens when Elden RIng showed players that an easy mode did exist.. Mimic tear being in the game is a complete non issue. If it was too strong for people’s “super challenging game” fetish then don’t use it. The “controversy” was that it ever existed in the first place. Elden ring isn’t even a PvP focused game, it’s a single player first game with multiple ways to play the game.

I agree with the “just don’t use it” camp. We spent money on this game to enjoy ourselves. So I might dabble with it for fun, but when I want a challenge I’ll go solo.
What the mimic tear was for me was a learning tool. This was my first fromsoft game, and once I got the mimic tear, most bosses lost their specialness, but that’s kind of what I needed for my first playthrough. On my second playthrough, I used no spirits or rivers of blood and loved it, and now I’m doing a whole playthrough of all the souls games. The mimic tear was stupid OP, but it was perfect for me to ease into what’s always seemed like a daunting game series.
Respect to you man that’s awesome. I used to hate its inclusion bc I thought it was too broken, but because of people like you and stories like these, in my mind, it keeps the game and its playerbase’s integrity well, relatively stable lol. There are no doubt people who will never play elden ring because it’s just too hard without help. But I respect the ones who use its tools and get better through practice, instead of straight cheese to then claim they “did it”. Anyways yea congrats bro good on you for not clinging to the mimic
@@KokiriCoke I knew for a fact when I beat Melania first try that it was too much and didn’t really count. It took 86 tries to beat Margit without doing much exploring, pretty much throwing myself at a brick wall till I won, and I fell in love with what everyone did. That’s the games easy mode, and while it was nice to have to help me get my training wheels off, I wanted that same challenge feeling back

people dont understand.. the mimic tear is the best attempt of nokron to get their own elden lord.. of course its supposed to be strong... lorewise its half as strong as the tarnished cuz it got half of our life energy or runes or however u want to call the energy that lends all things life in this context
I stand by the fact that in a soulsborne game everything is trying to kill you and it cares nothing about your honor. So in turn it's fair game to do everything you can to win, back stab, use summons or sleep pots if you have to. Whatever it takes to win. The game isn't going to take it easy on you so you shouldn't either

That's exactly what I was thinking with my first playthroughs. The boss designs and the ambushes and tricky camera gotchas (to name a few) are BS to begin with. I'm not honor bound to play in a way that tributes any more respect than this game deserves.

i love the mimic tear, it's a whole mini game of its own. you get to make builds and see if it can solo bosses. you can make it a proper tank with shabriri and you can play as a healer for example to have a completely different gaming experience or you can simply make it a strong damage dealer because you simply want to see the story and the world. i honestly despise the fromsoft elitist that want you to only play the game with a big strength bonker and anything else is not allowed. i think other souls games had artificial difficulty and clunkiness but i don't think elden ring does, even without the summons but it's still nice that with the summons it becomes more accessible to more people.
This actually does sound really fun, maybe I’ll try it on my next NG+!
I’m no elitist of fromsoftware, this was my first ever souls game, I just feel bad for the people that weren’t able to experience the game in a way that didn’t trivialize the game the first time

i mean if you go for a double curved sword build with bleed plus mimic then yes the game will be significantly easier but you will have to specifically plan for something like that and hunt all those items. no one will have that as their first experience playing the game naturally. plus much of that isn't accessible for you to get early anyways.

i been tryna make a mimic tear fighter that i just buff and heal lol.
The first time i beat Malenia by "myself" wa using a mimic tear, and using a powerstancing magma blade build. My mimic and i would spin-to-win stunlock her into a corner and win the fight like that. I remember it well, i'd gotten to her bossroom intending to skip over the fight and progress on with the story, then decided on a whim to just test it out, see how it would work. Beat her in one go right there. Could never replicate that success again with any other build yet.
Imagine one of the DLC bosses flips the scrip and just steals your summon.
That's actually speculated to happen with the DLC. There are datamined things related to miquellas bewitching branch and it could be something a boss does in the future. I think it was in a zulie the witch video.
He does it one time and next time you're wise about it.

@@TheMineA7 yeah i tried to make a tanky build that could solo all bosses but the mimic sadly came to a standstill with malenia because they both would heal themselves xD i tried this before the nerfs and the mimic tank with great stars with prayerful strikes could solo all bosses besides her. i think i managed to beat her with mimic solo when i switched to a bleed build with rivers and mohg's rune
@@TheMineA7with my crucible knight build it helped a lot but in order to keep the minic alive I had to keep attacking relentlessly. She doesn't give you any room for mistakes

Seeing someone complaining about the mimic tear it's an excellent way to spot a man baby that thinks playing a difficult game makes him special, the fact that mimic tear is completely optional means that if you don't want to use guess what? You don't use it, so that leaves me to believe those people only complain because others could use it to trivialize the game and I don't get why they care so much about how other people play, when they are 100% not affected by it.
I love the mimic tear,i used it only on my first playthrough and don't regret it,i worked with the mimic tear not sat around,now i rather use Black knife tiche but will always appreciate the jellyfish and mimic that help me so much on my first playthrough
To me if it’s available in the game then you can use it. If Miyazaki didn’t want something in HIS game (creation) it wouldn’t be there. Simple as that. IMO u can’t have “I won’t tell u how to play” & then say “but don’t brag about using all the tools provided” in the same sentence. In the end it’s all a CHOICE n some ppl simply want validation for not using all the tools provided. If we keep up with that theory then it’ll end up “well u beat the boss not using any potions but I beat the boss blindfolded, so I’m better” n it’ll end up with a never ending circle jerk of trying to one up eachother instead of simply having fun. This isn’t a pre-k playground.
I mostly agree, but summons went a bit too far imo. A good showing of that is in no hit runs, which are only seen as real runs if they dont use them. But as casual player you should use any tool you want or make the game as difficult without anyone saying or judging you.
@@spicyrock5451 no hit runners don't use summons because getting them and upgrading them is just more time / more chance to get hit then killing the bosses yourself.
My first playthrough of the game was unique, I normally tend to stick with a weapon or building for the entirety of game, and I'd leave experimentation for the 2nd or 3rd playthrough, for that reason, I got the mimic tear but never used until I started to read all the comments online, I had no idea it was that powerful, same goes for the Rivers of Blood katana, I got it on my 3rd playthrough but once I noticed it made the game too easy I stopped using it.
Also, I beat Radam Hussein on my first try way before he got patched lol
I specifically love using mimic tear because it makes me feel like I’m on the journey with a companion. Companion features tend to be some of my favorite parts of any game.
your examples for the mimic tear were bosses from limgrave that you could beat easily by the time you get it as well as showing it do one hit at the start of the radagon fight. That's not a good way to show that its op
I typically only use summons if they fit thematically with whatever I’m building, for example if I’m doing a little Banished Knoght Oleg cosplay with twin BKGS along with the full armor set, then I may summon Stormhawk Deenh or Banished Knight Engvall, it’s just another part of the theming for me. Sucked that my crucible knight cosplay can only summon winged misbegotten iirc, the only summon who made contact with the crucible and whatnot
The Mimic Tear, RoB, Moonveil, sorceries, all of those things are a necessity to make ER beatable for all players. The game is so difficult that there's a risk that a player hits a roadblock and never returns to experience the rest of the game. That risk is mitigated with stronger builds, summons and co-op.
Players who want a challenge can have a challenge in various different ways, be that by limiting themselves with certain rules or by playing a thematic build.
I switch to my most powerful weapons whenever I don't want to bother with an obstacle. Nothing wrong with that. The game has plenty of fun challenges for my normal build. Why would players have to face a big challenge with every single boss? Sometimes you just don't want to go full sweat mode, or you don't enjoy fighting a certain boss, so you pull out the big guns and get it over with.
It's all about having fun.

I exclusively play thematic builds, so I never used the mimic tear because it would never fit the theme of my build.
Tiche, on the other hand, carried me through the endgame of my first playthrough.
As someone who’s experiencing Elden Ring as their first proper Soulsborne game, my take on the Mimic Tear is simple; It’s fine and sometimes even a fully upgraded Mimic won’t really help. It’s not that you should let it fight battles for you. It’s that you should let it fight WITH you. Just do what I do. For the first few attempts, fight the boss on your own. If it’s too difficult, then call it in and see how it contributes to the fight.
mimic tear was heavily nerfed from released, and it isnt as op as it once was, greatshield skeletons are still one of the top tier ashes along dungeater
As much as I enjoy mimic tear, I feel like other than tiche I didn't wanna try any other spirit ash after getting it. Great video 👍🏻
There should be items that a player needs to collect in order to summon any spirit ash in the game in accordance with how many of those items the player manage to collect.
Bosses in this game can one shot you to high hell in anything but the poise bois armors but a summon is too much for the community lmao
On a laggy console and in many cases broken in-game camera locking this was the only access I had to beat the game and not lose my progress by dying because of lost frame rate and inconsistent input delay when the boss does anything that takes extra effort for my console to render.
Playing the NG+ I feel the need to solo the bosses in order to test out different weapons or weapon skills. The lag is still there except I don't have the mentality of just "getting it over with". It took me a while to understand that one boss killed by mimic tear is one boss lost to test my weapons on. I still pretty much take all the hits from the boss so memorizing the boss's move pattern is never going to be a thing for me.
And no I don't think mimic tear is broken or OP. I like it being an option for me to whip out when I don't want to spend time studying the game.
The mimic tear has all my equipment, but it doesn’t mimic my aggression. That’s why I like black knife Tiche.
I have a build where I’m just a tank and heal myself. And I feel like that’s ultimately where the mimic belongs. If you are a support build. It’s rather fun to support yourself and to be supported by yourself lol
Why use the mimic tear ash when there will be new ashes in the DLC (I assume)?
Play how you wanna play. You wouldnt say its unfair when summoning someone like let me solo her.

4:08 i did that in let it die and dark souls 2=i kept dieing to the max guy by him shooting,
so i explored and got more heath,then i survived,
i did that with dark souls 2,i couldnt fight the skelitons,
i beat the horse boss and then found the summoners in the cave ressurecting them.
And they stayed dead after i did stuff.
I hung up my mimic tear before Radagon/Elden Beast. I wanted to earn my ending as god intended. one on one.
Hey guys, tired of using mimic tear? I recommend using Black Knife Tiche, Latenna The Albinauric or Dung Eater Puppet.
I would also recommend the Greatshield Soldier Ashes. They tank a LOT and keep the aggro from the boss wonderfully.

Pre-patch mimic tear was goofy. Me and mimic spammed hoarfrost stomp with a +0 icerind hatchet and completely shut down Malenia in both phases.
This is my first souls game. I was stuck on Margit for a year. I hated the game so much. I'm still not to the mimic tear but I use the rot dog from caelid and it's helping me not quit in a day.
I pray to the greater will that I can summon the mimic tear in the dlc.
I do think Mimic Tear made the late game a bit too easy and after a certain point I stopped fearing bosses at all and was glad to see a boss fog after a difficult dungeon because I knew here's something I can defeat with the help of my trusty Mimic Tear. In fact, I barely remember my fights against Mohg or Maliketh because it was all over so fast and I never felt the need to learn their moves. Still, I intend to use Mimic Tear in the DLC. I will be using mostly the same build as my first playthrough for the DLC and it just wouldn't be the same without Mimic Tear. And I also want to try out any new summons they might add in the game, so I don't want to lock myself into a no-Summon run at least on my first time playing the DLC.
The Mimic tear is the go to for people who find the game extremely hard/"unfair"/unbeatable... to make it less hard for them.
Sure Mimic tear and Rivers of blood was strong af but no one mentions the Ice Rind hatchet pre nerf when the game first released. If you even had a few points in Dex and got this thing upgraded you could literally stomped your way through the entire game. I would know it was my cheese weapon when I got tired of getting my cheeks clapped lmao 😂
Here’s the thing. The mimic is here to stay. However we can all agree that the mimic is still very strong. It’s the benefit of having another good player build with you without buffing the boss like summoning another. So while I understand why people do it I will continue to not because I want the challenge.

My first couple of playthroughs the mimic 2 really wasn't that powerful, but I didn't use a meta build or anything like that.
I don't understand why people complain about mimic tears, like there are some better summons depending on your play style. Like the black knife tiche who does a lot of DOT and there's this other summon(that I forgot the name of, it was something like astfollo rolo) who literally could stun Melenia out of her waterfowl dance thingy. And when I fought Melenia with my mimic tear, he was kinda crap cuz whenever Melenia used waterfowl she gained a lot of health back cuz the mimic couldn't do anything about it.
I'll explain it for you, if you have a mid maxed build for level 125-150 you can easily beat the whole game. With the mimics tankiness you don't even have to think or engage with any mechanic of any boss. Malenia may heal up 3-5k hp with 1 waterfowl, but she only uses the move 3 times in the fight if you dont stagger her out of it. So it means only 1-2 attack and you get that health easily back, lets not forget you can always cast your buffs because you don't have her aggro.
Because mimic tier is the best with every play style.

Personally I don’t really care that it’s in the game as I just don’t use it and you can safely ignore it if it’s not something you like but i’d like to not have the option to trivialize the game if it were up to me but if it helps new people get through the game then i’m not mad about it

Mimic using 2 RoB +10 or just miracles to heal you the entire fight it makes it the MVP

I used mimic tear in my first playthrough as Elden ring was my first souls title and after my first run I didn't I went to 100% the game and am now waiting for dlc and cant wait to try knew things. Elden ring is not a game of Impossibility and should not be a game of controversy it is shaped by it player base and the many people who make the challenges for them selves.

I'm a souls-borne vet who has beat every game in the series including sekiro and bloodborne, I've defeated Midir, sister friede, The nameless King, the fuckin orphan of Kos, artorias, Kalameet, every Sekiro Boss... SOLO, and I believe that using mimic tear is totally valid, I believe it's intended to be a sort of cathartic reminder that you don't have to face the tremendous amount of bastard bosses that are in elden ring alone, and don't forget there are many bosses in elder ring that you HAVE TO face without the use of the mimic tier as well...
mimic tear is so nerfed now its totally fine to exist. its not like the sword of knight and flame when the game launched. that think was mega busted.
also, the rivers of blood is so late game and isnt that good anymore, so its totally fine.
They nerfed the mimic tear a long time ago. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be. Though I still prefer Tiche for the most part, the mimic is still arguably the best summon in the game, in most cases (unless your loadout is spell heavy). Pre-nerf, it was OP, because it could solo most bosses with ease (depending on your loadout). It was especially nutty with with Shabriri's Woe swapping (even to this day). Post nerf, I don't see an issue, though. It's much weaker than it used to be. If people want to use it, use it. If they don't, then don't. I know your video didn't really do this, but I just don't care for the constant gatekeeping with how people choose to play/enjoy the game.
I wouldnt say its too powerful, it was at one point though. I think they needa buff every other spirit though.

I did not realize just how easy I had made the game until I devoured Melania with the mimic and blasphemous blade. Then I saw online how hard she was supposed to be! I have since beaten her solo and it was much more fun!
There’s nothing wrong with options to use certain play styles and if you don’t like a play style don’t use it but trying to force everyone into playing a game only the way you permit it it’ll reduce the audience which will reduce the budget for the next game it even get the next one canceled. I don’t like Magic builds but I would never want from to remove it because I don’t want to turn those players off a game I love.
My honest opinion: Malenia is free game for whatever devious thing you decide to cook, it's okey.
No seriously, unlike all other bosses, there was no real catharsis on killing Malenia beside "Yey... it's finally over..." rather than "Let's go!"
For me, if its in the game it useable, and really a non issue, and the ppl who say its "Op" just wants to ruin the fun for others as there is nothing stopping them form not using it, sell it or put it in your chest when at grace and never use it, its really the simple
I personally hate summons, they take the game formular I love and destroy it. The "dance" you and the boss have gets thrown out for another aggro taking summon and the price you pay or setup is literally nothing. Why not just keep the old system if you can't beat a boss or don't want to engage with it?
At least you can fully ignore the feature and only need to use it for one ruin side quest, so I can't hate on it too much.

The footage is wierd - my mimic was good mostly for getting attention, the damage it did, let alone the AI, was very lacking. And I was good with that. That said, there were times it land the final blow in a fight and that pissed me off.
Overall, if it in the game it is fair play.
You can also say they went too far with magic, akin to having a cheat code. But, in the end, each one chooses the level of difficulty, and they did a great job providing a variety of tools to do just that.
Sorcerers may be a little too powerful in open fields and large arenas, but they get absolutely stomped in cramped spaces. I think slightly reducing the range and/or tracking of some spells would've been a good idea.

Not rly, I play on NG+7 with a 150 character because Im stubborn. My time would be so much easier if I used any summon, so I dont get 1 shot. Not to mention if you have a good build you can easily fck any boss up even at higher NG runs.
im all about those who use spirit ashes to beat the game, its their journey and i am fine either way, BUT dont be one of those who beat the game with summons and then say that the game was easy, because then ppl are gonna mock you and you will call them bullies and gatekeepers. We have already seen the play.

My biggest complaint about the mimic tear is how anticlimactic it is to get it even though it's so powerful. makes me wish there was a super mimic tear that would take a quarter of your health but do something crazy like summon a mimic with double your stats but you also have to do a quest to get it.
I feel like people glorify these games as something much harder than they are to feel like they've accomplish something and hold it over other people's head.
idunno, go get diamond in a pvp game instead or something if that's what you want.
even without mimic tear, the list can go on for ever, first it was moon veil, then rivers of blood, and so on. we can talk about ancient dragon lightning, anything with endure, prayful strike, night comet, blasphemous blade, and so on. I think people latch onto mimic tear because its a summon and "you have to do it solo, but you can't use spells, also you can't use a shield, also.."

played og Demons Soul and Dark Souls on ps3 before western release, played old Armored Core games on ps2 and psp, platinumed all souls Games and AC6, and there is a flood of fans, who pretend to be the hardest and seem to misunderstand what the games are about.
Miyazaki even stated in an interview that it is specifically not about difficulty but a fairness and a sense of accomplishment, he wants to give players multiple ways to tackle a challenge but still push players into adapting different tactics.
Almost EVERY boss in a Souls game had a 'weakness' or exploit.

Naw. 2 years it’s been now….summoning is a must. Idc if you beat it without it, so did I but it’s foolish and lame to pretend most of the game esp the 2nd half isn’t made with summons in mind. It was already bad when they made everything tyreek hill fast in ds3 but it still worked there….Elden ring just ramped it up by 50…10 hit combos where you gta dodge perfect or parry perfect etc which is great that it’s an option. Fck man, playin through Bloodborne again and I feel like I’m being ganked the entire time….bc of shit like this. Instead of making challenges they mask a lot of it with bullshit ganks, it used to be oh here’s a elite with regular mobs let’s see what you can do to Elden ring where it’s here’s a fckin mini boss with 4 elites and 5 archers that will keep you in stunlock if you get hit once…like why. I also need the mimic tear that can solo shit bc ng+4 and Maliketh (not to mention his lil bitch mini boss before his room) are so fckin annoying. Maliketh isn’t even that hard but he’s a sponge at this point and these mfkers are just to fast…I feel like they can and have made actual challenges, but they’ve gotten away from it to play fan service…bc even 2 years later people are still claiming the end of the game is fine, and those bosses are lame annoying bullshit. It’s fun on the first play through, but I feel like that’s the reason we don’t get the same feeling on play through in ER as we did in the others.
Playing Elden ring is about choices, they are as many op weapons than shitty ones. You choose how you want to play the game. Theres nothing wrong about using amything.
I never used Mimic Tear because i knew i was an advanced player and didnt have to rely on it, so i let it disappear in my inventory.
But new players will be happy to get the help they need with no matter what it is. So i dont agree about bashing on it
I can proudly say I never used mimic tear for any of my playthroughs, and this was my first ever souls game. And I was able to beat malenia and all the other bosses through pure melee. Wish others could’ve experienced that on their first playthrough ever of a souls game but hey no shade to you if you did use mimic tear

I've always said that if someone wants to play the game with a base stats club with no armor and no flasks and never leveling. And the proceeds to spend 3 to 5 hours trying to beat a boss with chip damage while being one shot then I'm not gonna try to stop you in fact more power to you. I'm still gonna call you mentally stunted but don't let my opinion of your playstyle of a single player game get to you.
Yeah who cares about validation from a game. Am I twelve? I see folks overlevelling then running to Margit shouting first-try. Big deal. There are easy ways to deal with the difficulty in most cases.
Also a second player might be more powerful than the mimic tear. Then there are buffed magic oneshots and the like, cheese galore.
The only con I can see is that it devalues the rest of the summons.
He showed some of the weakest bosses in the game being beaten most likely by a +10 mimic tear and shows the final boss radagahn(don't forget there is still the Elden Beast to come) getting its butt handed to it. Lol definately a shite post

I honestly don’t mind summons. I hate overpowered weapons because having them makes weaker weapons feel useless but summons are fine. They feel separate enough from the main game that it doesn’t feel bad if you don’t use them and I love using mimic tear against Godskin Duo because that fight is bs.
If it is available it is meant to be used. If you disagree you’re a dork.
