    I just want to take a moment and say, how much I appreciate Coco's owner, Robert. He is not affraid to show his soft side, his love and care for a tiny creature as well as for his kids. He clearly is a loving father - and as such, a source of strenght and support for them (notice how the girl is not hesitating to hide in his hug). And by being an example, he raised children who are able to support each other as well (notice how older sister instinctively comforts younger). Whenever I see this story, it brightens my day.

      When I brought my kitty Acacia home I basically redesigned the entire interior of our house and my parents thought I was just being dramatic. Poor angel has a couple of kinks in some parts of her body- her jaw and her left back leg- because back at her foster home she got too excited and ran into things or fell off of chairs or tables. It was never anything serious and our vet has thoroughly examined her and confirmed that she's not in any danger or discomfort anymore and that she never actually fractured or broken anything. I had pillows all around my bed since she was a little too small to gracefully land on the floor from it and no breakable objects are ever left out unless we're supervising (when we wash dishes etc). Sure, cats mostly land on their feet but they can still get hurt. At this point my kitty has learned where she can and can't go and what she can and can't put her claws on. It's not that difficult to help a cat understand boundaries and rules and to cat-proof your house. It can and will save them from a lot of trouble.
      Small edit: it's also important to have a designated cat room where they can stay safely even if they're unsupervised. We always put her in that room if we need to be out of the house. Even though our house has been cat-proofed, you can never know what kind of mischief cats can get up to!

      @@boopdedoop3764 wow! That’s really cool you did so much for your cat! My cats are the complete opposite, big Bruity farm cats that go wherever they want, whenever they want. I can’t count how many times I have found my cat in a tree over hanging our creek by the house. They are just too naughty and there’s not much we can do to stop them from doing stuff like that 😂 we don’t really cat proof anything because they aren’t nuts enough to do something that would hurt themselfs thankfully. The cats in my village would need very little cat proofing in the house (mostly so they didn't accidentally break something we like haha). A house cat doesn't get the stimulation from the outside so it can spend thee extra energy so it might take it out on your furniture if you don't make sure to have a good and proper playtime! When I saw she had passed during the night - I held her and told her my good byes for awhile. I called the vet to bring the body to them - when I came back with a box I heard her meow and she was breathing! In about 15 minutes she was warm - but still stiff. The vet said she would not have a good quality of life, considering she was still stiff and unknown how long she had been dead. We opted to put her down. My cat had a femoral head removal, after she had a freak accident where she got her leg caught while jumping over a stair gate, poor thing really went through hell, but after she healed, other than not being able to jump as high no more, you would never know she had even had it done! She walks about fine, and many years later she is still doing great!

      Only problem she had during the operation was her bones were so brittle her leg broke, so she had to have a permanent pin put down the middle of her leg bone to hold it together, sad, but as I said, she's fine now and you wouldn't even know!

    This is why we should health test dogs before breeding, the chi and doodle could have been spared the GENETIC health conditions. Chihuahua's and Pugs definitely need tests done before breeding as they have a lot of genetic issues you could avoid with these tests. Ethical breeders rarely have these issues, but doodle breeders think they don't have to check for these things because "mutts" are healthier, and Chihuahua are so common and commonly bred by puppy mills and back yard breeders for a quick buck, or even for emotional reasons to keep a puppy. Some dogs may be beautiful and have amazing temperament, but breeding just for that reason to keep a puppy is irresponsible unless you do research the ways to breed with least amount of risk for the mom and puppies.

    • @gemuhcrayford1321
      @gemuhcrayford1321 2 роки тому +10

      yep, doodles and stuff shouldn’t be bred in the first place, but especially not without health testing. recommended OFA tests and Pennhip are the bare minimum

    • @kathimorrical9912
      @kathimorrical9912 2 роки тому +9

      So true, but ANY " purebreed" is in- bred . That's why people shouldn't marry the cousin, 1/2brother etc. Cats have it too, tho purebred cats are checked a little more .o

    • @CL-ks7xy
      @CL-ks7xy 2 роки тому +2

      @@kathimorrical9912 Yes, pure breed dogs were inbred, but have been diversified now to the point you shouldn't be doing it anymore. When people talk about line breeding, you should really check into their breeding standards because there is no reason for it now. Senza Tempo Cane Corso has produced show quality dogs and does not line breed, she is very educational on the importance of diversity in your breeding lines and health testing. But most people ignore this and don't follow basic guidelines for when it comes to healthy litters, cats are less bred when it comes to breeding for purebred cats, but sadly still come across these issues as well. The problems with cats is the feral ones from people not fixing their pet cat and it reproducing multiple liters and colonies of wild cats become heavily inbred fast as it is brothers and sisters now inbreeding because they lost all the natural instincts actual wild animals have and proceed to reproduce with relatives. Wolf packs won't allow any inbreeding, the females will actually fight off the males if they have to to prevent inbreeding. But humans think "Oh father to daughter and mother to son should be fine to breed" like silly people and end up with the issues like pugs have and most Brachycephalic breeds. It has only progressively gotten worse as people want shorter and shorter faces, or bigger and bigger dogs and don't bother with health testing. I know the poodle back yard breeders are trying to breed "tea cup" poodles and "royal" standard poodles without a care about the health issues both those tiny and large sizes cause. Most toy poodles that are bred to be 3 pounds have seizures or heart issues and most "royal" standard poodles have hip issues that could have been tested for. I am not even a breeder and know more than most back yard breeders do about this as I was studying to be one and lived with one for a year, she was doing it wrong and I wanted to help improve her program but eventually saw that her 34 shih tzu and couple of poodles was too much for me to handle and her unethical process that she would not budge on. She inbred her half siblings and her father to daughter and ended up with some deformities that just killed me, so I left and cut off contact. I couldn't call anyone to report her as she moved and the part of Utah she is in has high rate kill shelters, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if the dogs I cared for for a year were put down.

    I had seen Leo’s story before with Dr Scott and Dr Michael but it’s great to see he and Isabella again.
    Scout and Cocoa’s story I had not seen before. With Scout, it’s amazing a surgery like that was possible and the outcome gave her that chance to have a full, pain free, healthy and happy life. Great job Dr Arvid.
    Cocoa’s story I feared would have a sad outcome but overjoyed she overcame it and continued to improve. Dr Chris has a gentle hand and heart with both his patients and their families 😊

      Yeah but sure is behind that show a production team and director that decide, which cases they actually show on tv and on UA-cam! I am sure they Film lots of cases and don’t show a lot of sad stories of the death of animals, as they sure want it to be a more happy than sad show. Even though the work from a vet in real life can look very different, as they have to euthanize a lot of animals often young, just for non treatable illnesses or the owner just not having the money to pay for the treatment. And I guess than people and cases shown here don’t have to pay much, at least this is in many doctor shows the case, on how they get patients and cases. Because people don’t have the money. Sadly there aren’t many vet shows, but a lot of doctor shows, from Dr. Phil, the Doctors to Dr. Pimple Popper…

      Agreed. If you own your property, do what we did----build a cat run. Ours is huge---20 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 7 feet tall. It's roofed, and has tarps we can move to shade from the sun. They have litterboxes out there, a house, a log claw stropper, waterfall, and a sand pit for rolling in, which they really enjoy. They access it through the doggie door, and our small dogs use it too. Most days, they spend most of the day outside, even in winter. No snow or rain can get in. That's the way cats can have the best of both worlds----inside and outside. (Jan Griffiths).

    Poor little kitten. Intracranial blood flow is so important and so difficult when it isn't working correctly. I had near total left internal jugular vein compression for most of my life. Just like Coco, I had enough oxygen flow to my brain in the arteries, but it couldn't drain properly and pressure kept building. No one could figure out the cause for decades, and I too had transient stroke like symptoms and permanent optic nerve damage (papilledema) and vision loss due to the elevated intracranial pressure. It's a very painful and frightening condition, high pressure headaches are terrible, and the cognitive effects and such can be scary and disorienting. Like CoCo my pupils wouldn't constrict properly, they were always dilated due to the pressure, and it makes the eyes very light sensitive. In March 2021 several wonderful surgeons performed an operation on my neck and internal jugular vein to remove my styloid and part of my hyoid bone, the ligament connecting them that was sclerotic and calcified, and a ton of scar tissue. My recovery has been slow, a bit like Coco, and it took a few weeks, but it has been steady and huge improvements in the last 6 months. And just not having the awful headaches and cardiovascular symptoms and cognitive dysfunction is life changing. It really is amazing how well the body can heal and compensate from elevated intracranial pressure when the blockage in blood flow is removed. I am so glad CoCo had help from such wonderful vets and that she has a loving family
