    ⁣The best stretch for the Lats will involve every segment that it attaches to. It is a large muscle that attaches to the lower back/pelvis, travels up the thorax, and inserts into the shoulder.⁣ Getting a good stretch of the Lat involves each segment!

    Also due to its attachments, the Lat is frequently involved in pain or dysfunction in lower back, mid back/ribs, and shoulder/arm. Here's how to create some length in the muscle!⁣

    𝐓𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦:⁣
    1️⃣Go into half kneeling while tucking your pelvis (posterior tilt).⁣
    2️⃣Bring the involved side arm up so that the hand is in the upper back. Pull the elbow with the opposite hand.⁣
    3️⃣Flex the trunk and bend away.⁣ Make sure to breathe!⁣

    Would dead hangs with weight benefit your body in any way?

      It always depends on the circumstance. Dead hangs can be particularly problematic for an unstable shoulder and/or lower back but for many they do not cause issues. However, I feel there are always better ways to stretch or mobilize certain muscle groups by simply reversing their "actions". I hope that helps.
