Prediction markets can definitely just be an outlet for degenerate gambling but they're also a genuinely powerful tool for predicting the future. It just depends how you use them. Betting on a market should be for correcting a mispricing. The only time you shouldn't want to buy or sell a share is when you think the share's price correctly represents the probability of the future event. This video was a great example of that. The times you made profit were when you evaluated the evidence and found a mismatch between your prediction and the markets. If you're well calibrated then over time you'll profit. Just like a stock market though, chances are whatever edge you think you have is already priced in. Which makes it difficult to make money but also means the probabilities shown on prediction markets tend to be surprisingly accurate!
That's what makes it so brilliant, either it's a massive opportunity for investors and traders to make a lot of money, or they are a highly accurate and reliable tool for predicting the future. There isn't an in between. The moment it becomes very difficult to reliably make money using it is also the moment the market has vast expertise across many different forecasting fields, and perhaps even greater expertise with the addition of insider knowledge being factored into the market. So even if you held the maximally pessimistic view of prediction markets, which would probably be that they don't work, you would be admitting that someone, anyone with above average intelligence and some research could make a lot of money speculating on these markets, and actually rationally you should then be motivated to partake in these prediction markets as soon as possible. So it's almost unarguable really.

you can bypass the location in multiple ways, even if the vpn doesnt work, it might be your email, you can create an email for free on “proton vpn” and it will be from another country, if that doesnt help, it might be your browser using your current location, if so you can change in the settings the config for the location sharing, if its none of those, try spoofing your location with iMyFone if you are on an iphone if not there is many other ways
I do think looking at the track record of traders in each market can give some insight. However, I don't think it's as simple as just seeing who is betting on each side, because a lot of the most successful traders probably got there not by holding thier position to resolution, but by buying undervalued markets and selling when the price goes up before the market is resolved. Just looking at who currently holds each side doesn't take into account what price they paid and wether they plan to hold until the end.
