5:26 Because 1: If you work for some sort of company that has this info and you act off of it, it will be very noticeable. You will get caught super easily. This is also what happens with stolen credit card numbers. To go and use them all yourself would be really risky. So they are sold for pennies on the dollar. And 2: He is selling the info so cheap because people on the dark web are cautious. If you see someone selling a stock tip for $1000 that's hella sus. But if you see a stock tip for 30 you might check it out. This is most likely the only way he'll get any sales.

"Why sell insider info instead of just trading on it?" Trading firms (brokers/market makers) specifically look for certain trading patterns in client accounts and report suspicious activity to the regulator. Most people with insider information get caught because of this, likely easier to just sell the info on the dark web.

If that's the case, then why not do this.
Do a successful trade with that insider info, get your five bagger, then proceed to take half of your profits from that and trade like shit for a few weeks until you go down.
Then go and wait for a few months with your remaining half and rinse and repeat until you have around 1-2 million

Yeah, mixing deep web and dark web is annoyingly common.
I'll tell you why he would want to sell "tips" instead of trading on them himself. The SEC doesn't do a whole hell of a lot. But 1 thing they do is monitor big trades made right before a company's share price is going to go up or down. If they see a pattern, they start an investigation. This guy's downfall was the downfall of everyone that does this kind of thing: greed. If he had done it once or twice, or a few times spread out over time, then you don't set off alarm bells. But to think selling insider Info on the dark web isn't going to get back to the authorities is nuts. And I've got news for all you users that think there's any measure of anonymity on the dark web. Think again. If you think using TOR, a system developed by the US Navy, doesn't have some kind of "back door" built into it...well, I've got a hot stock tip to sell you for the bargain price of $299 per month...lol. now, before all you haters pile on....can I prove this "back door" theory about TOR? I can't. But it also doesn't take a genius to figure out that that's something you'd want to do. I don't think there's anything, any level of encryption, that can't be "cracked" by the US government, given enough interest and time. We have seen this time and time again: NSA operations intercepting certain legitimate shipments of technology sold by US companies, bound for some foreign buyer to place a "back door" inside that no one will know about but them-not even the company selling the goods. If they'll go to such lengths to monitor governments and companies that are "friendly" to the US, you don't think they'd be all over the dark web? The place where all this nefarious shit is happening? I think the only reason some of these bad actors are able to get away with whatever they're doing is bc the host country is hostile to the US and won't "play ball" with the authorities. If you'd like to verify any of this yourself, order 1 of James Bamfords books on the NSA. And again, this Is just the stuff we know about; the tip of the iceberg. I assume that if I'm in the US, or a US citizen and I do something that gets me on the radar of some 3 letter agency, If they want to find out my identity, they will.
