Hiking 25 Miles for Landscape Photography

- I take on a 25 mile hiking landscape photography challenge. I hike the Yorkshire 3 Peaks with my Fuji X-T4 camera with the aim of taking 12 landscape images whilst completing the 25 mile route in under 12 hours. The photographs are not all keepers, but the point of this exercise was to exercise my body and my creative muscles. I would recommend the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge to everybody. It's a great day out in the hills.

I really enjoyed this video, as I love to hike with my camera also. I really like the tree on limestone, and field of yellow flowers leading of into the distant landscape.

Nice hike! The photo with the sheep was my favorite followed closely by the viaduct. Well done. I teach a little workshop called Photography on the Go and I talk about being ready for photography even during activities where photography is not the goal - be ready and shoot when you see something that catches your eye. It's not always about the award winners but the memories.

Thomas ... been a long time follower of yours and enjoy every year getting your calendar for my office. I've never commented before, but wanted to share with you (since you've expressed such struggles with producing content for the UA-cam monster) that this was one of my all time favorite videos. I too took to landscape photography (for me very much just an armature ) as something that complimented my love of hiking, backpacking and the outdoors. This was one of your most organic videos of what we experience when blending these two passions together. Keep it up and don't worry about the perfect UA-cam cinematic video -- this one was perfect! -ck
Time spent with an old friend, beautiful scenery, and photography…is there a better way to spend a day? Loved it.

Great to see the challenge you both took. My favourite image was the barn towards the beginning - third shot in I think. Love grabbing shots on the go like that sometimes.

Some really good images there …. I liked the viaduct image the best, but some other very good shots. Often landscape photographers are aiming for a single “perfect” shot, but often a variety of lesser images, that collectively tell a story can be just as rewarding!

My favs were the first mono image, the viaduct, the lone tree on hill, the silhouette of the walkers, forth (looking down on tree next to wall)📷❤️

Fun video and you captured some great memories.
Loved doing the three peaks. Done it three times, went photographing it once. The weather started off reasonably on that time, though the haze because absolutely unbearable later in the day- solid 20-25c day with haze so thick you couldn't even see much of the tops in the distance, just blackened mounds protruding into the sky. Great video that brings back memories!

One of your best vlogs wandering on your toes, fast paced, little time to react to photo oportunities, quick shots from the hip as we say, and there is always that chance of the portfolio keeper, somewhere in between. Embrace all situations because even with fast thinking mind and not much time to react and setup to a good shot, even if you fail, you learn so much on a trip like that, especially with a good friend along the way, ATB.

very cool. the first "bnw" (thats not even grammatically correct, issit. that hashtag never sits well with me☺️) had lovely light, and the viaduct, yes quite the epic shot. the mirror reflection of path and finch on the fence was creative/whimsical/very observant - obviously! hope pub felt good. noted the cr*p milkshake's brand 😁 nice music.
It was lovely seeing the Yorkshire Dales again. Lived in Kettlewell for nigh on 4 years.

The harsh lit tree with moody sky behind it was definitely my favourite. I'm also very curious what the image of the viaduct would look like in colour. The different green tones with the sun lighting up certain area I reckon you could make a great edit in colour too!!
There’s a special feel to handheld, in the moment landscape photography.
Wonderful images - the viaduct is my favourite and a good lesson in how to capture an object of scale by getting away from it rather than trying to capture it close up.

Great video Thomas, I did the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last weekend so it was really nice to watch your vlog not feeling absolutely knackered with my feet up and drinking a cuppa. Great experience though I did it in 11hours 37minutes , just made it in time. All the best, Steve.

Well done to the pair of you for completing the hike and I think you have a couple of images that could be contenders. My favourites were the one of the walkers on the hill and the tree that the had the fleeting light catching it

We very much enjoyed this one. Needed a break and a mental getaway and this was just so lovely and refreshing. And so many laughs and smiles on your faces. My husband and I were fortunate to visit and camp in Yorkshire once and I had the best fish and chips of my life there. Now I want us to go back and tackle these peaks. Cameras at the ready. Thank you for yet another inspiring video.

Really enjoyed this Thomas. Did the challenge for charity on two occasions in the 90's and loved it (despite my creaky knees). You brought back many memories of some great mates (some no longer with us) so a huge thanks for sharing your trek.

I liked the monochrome shot of Ribblehead and the lone barn. Doing the three peaks of Yorkshire is not to be sniffed at, foul weather and blisters ruined my only attempt. I have walked up Ingleborough and Pen-Y-Ghent individually since but not Whernside

I share your creative block over the much-vaunted Ribblehead Viaduct Thomas. However, I did like the distant shot that you took.
Lovely video. The sheeps is a keeper, the viaduct is getting there, but maybe the subject is too lost in the scenery, but definetely a different perspective from what an everyday John would go for. May I suggest a close up with an ultrawide to get the texture and the size of the construction in the same frame? Just a thought. Always enjoying your videos.
I really liked seeing you photograph on the fly without all the long setup of the tripod.
As someone who loves and practices street photography, that simple silhouette of the hikers down the slope is my favorite. I agree that last shot is beautiful. Oh, and who doesn't like a good time with friend doing things you love together.

Thanks Tom, excellent as always …. So few walkers actually bother to take images on their walk. My constant camera companion is Sony RX100V (with Carl Zeiss 24-70 mm lens). I’ve had this camera since it was marketed in 2017, but before this it was RX100II.
I also was a hiker before I discovered photography. This video captured the joy I feel when I’m out on a trail. Thank you!
If I was to pick one as a fav, it would be the barn with the stone wall as a leading line.
