You have quickly become one of my go-to reviewers on UA-cam. I hardly ever comment but feel the need to say Thank you for your reviews. I love your content and you deserve every bit of success that's coming your way :)
Great video! What settings are you using on your osmo pocket to keep the video so smooth? And the desqueezing, is that all done in post or something I can do in the app? Thanks!
I film everything at ISO 100, 25fps and 1/50, classic 180 degree angle rule. The de-squeezing is all done in post, all the info for that is in the description if you need to know the exact pixels.
Very useful video, but I'm still confused. without changing the 4Κ aspect ratio, what settings should I have for the video made with this anamorphic lens ? What if I want to stay in 4K (3840X2160) sequence and have anamorphic and non-anamorphic videos to combine into one final video? - To try to make non-anamorphic videos sawn as anamorphic. (there are some "techincs" with premiere), or - Use "black bars" for non-anamorphic videos?
Yep, I get what you're saying. You just want to keep 4K standard and have this fit in so it has black bars top and bottom. 86,7% is the answer you're looking for, type that into the width (Y scale) and you should be golden.
Fingers crossed the version of these with a variety of ND rates come soon! Freewell have released them for the Mavic Air 2 and finally you can control your shutter angle with them!
They have the ND filter caps for the wide lens, but not for the anamorphic, I agree, that would be cool! It would also be awesome if they made a 1.33x 🔥
@@PhillipSkraba They have stuck with 1.15x for the Mavic Air 2 range, which makes sense for the quality to remain intact without too much deterioration at the edges. That's always been the disappointing bit about the Ulanzi's that they are wider and fall apart quite chronically at the edges. For something this small that is a bit of trickery, rather than being genuine anamorphic lenses, they have a good product with the 1.15x range on the Mavic Air 2. Considering the weight and airflow influences they must be constrained by, Freewell have done a stellar job so far!
Hey bro, I just bought this lens for my Osmo Pocket. Just wondering if these lens can be used for any other than light flares? Also better in day or night environments?
It's mainly used to get a slightly wider shot and those flares come in handy on some shots where light sources are visible in the frame. The lens flares are much more visible during the night Kevin, though it'll get some during the day with the sun in the frame.
I’ve have this for about 2 weeks now... OSMO Pocket Gold. If Freewell sent you the ND for the Wide Lens please review. Will buy through your link just on the fence about that one.
The Osmo Pocket it awesome, I've taken this all over the world and I love it! Yes, Freewell sent me the ND filters for the wide lens and they're beautiful like all things from Freewell. I will get a review out soon!
@@PhillipSkraba I don't want to be lynched but I like the image of 1 more, I think 2 looks like action cameras .p because it has extra wide angle. In addition, pocket 1 is said to have poor low-light performance. But the performance in your video is more than enough for me: D I want to produce personal youtube channel content and my budget is very limited, so I will prefer pocket1.
Thanks dude, i had just ordered this for my Osmo Pocket and one for my Mavic Air 2. Can’t wait for them to arrive. Now subbed. I only hope that if the rumours are true that the Osmo pocket 2 is imminent..that this fits that too! Keep up the good work my friend
Great video man keep up the great work u definitely earned my sub and ur videos are amazing I can’t wait to see what u do next! Could you leave some feedback on videos I would be very happy🙏
Hi Philip can you please tell how to to edit anamorphic lens footage from osmo pocket using adobe premiere pro cc?

The footage actually looks unbelievable, nice review!
Thank You! It’s really nice, the blue flare is super cool and it’s super sharp all over, Freewell hits a home run again 👌🏻

Very nice - how did you keep noise so low at such dark scenes? Any noise removal at post ?
Thank You Victor! I had it all on manual, keeping my ISO as low as possible, that's all really.
Is there available freewell anamorphic lens 1.33X for osmo pocket
I'm afraid not, would be cool though!
There are some out from Chinese companies I’ve seen on EBay but reviews are blur a lot at edges
What was shutter speed and iso?
I try to keep mine in line with the 180 rule, so 25fps 1/50

Do you happen to remember what ISO was used for the test footage? Great video.
I think it was quite high, ISO 1600 maybe. Thank You!
@@PhillipSkraba appreciate the response, just picked up the filter. Let’s hope I can get my footage to look as clean as yours!
You’re welcome! You’ll love it, it’s a good one! I’m sure you can.
Does it fit with pocket 2?
No, I’m afraid not.

first time on your channel. will this work with the pocket 2? can you tell me where you got the call outs that you use in your video?
I'm afraid this only works on the Pocket 1. Sure, I made them using MotionVFX plugins for FCPX.
Wonder if the current filters will fit osmo 2!!
That was my first thought! However, I don't think I'll be updating, just doesn't look worth it.
Thanks for your input. I’m convinced and ordered the lens on Amazon. 🙏
Thank You! It's a really great one, super fun to use!
That's cool!!! Is it works with OP2 too?
I'm afraid not, no. I'm sure they're working on one though.

haha, I know I do that!! 😂
Which Osmo Pocket, 1 or 2 ?
If you don't own one, go for the 2, if you have the 1, I don't see any need to upgrade.
